Similar thing happened to my girlfriends atrix. She lost touch down the left center of the screen. Would not respond to touches from top to bottom .25" from the left side. Factory restoring and/or SBF did not fix this issue. Hell once I restored it I couldnt even setup blur as the E and W wouldnt work on the keyboard. Also, she couldnt unlock it without it being a major PITA. Warranty replaced and all is good
Thx for the replyes. How do i get a warranty replacement? Phone was bought at cosco when it came out.
Also da i still have warranty if i rooted and turned on wifi hotspot?

Alright after almost two years of owning the evo I would be doing something on the phone.. example texting and when I will be typing it type random letters repeatedly so I would always wipe screen or restart phone n would go away but then come back until it fell and screen wouldn't turn on now my gs3 seems to stay doing this. But seems just on xda app. Well that's what I'm mostly on when on the phone. Anyone else have this or happened. Might have to take it back if gets worse.. argh:banghead:

Hello everyone,
Curious if anyone is having the same issue as me? I have tried multiple roms, stock, with and without kernels.
I am having some touch issues. Either I have to press harder then normal at times or multiple times for my press to register. Its getting quite annoying. Not sure if this is a defect or if i can modify something within the system files to make the screen more sensitive or if there is even a way to re-calibrate my sensors/screen?
Thank you in advance,
DFL
Did you figure out what was wrong? ... It just started to do the same with me... Even to right this was a pain in the a$$...

Well, I've rebooted in recovery mode, wiped the cache and it's back to normal now... I know it's just a temp solution, but you might wanna give it a try

hmmm... wiping cache fixed? i bet systemcleanup active would help then. I will take your advice and try out that app systemcleanup on my tab. I use on my phone Nexus S just didnt think the N7 would need it due to its specs.
Thanks mate, ill give it a go.

I have the same issue but sparingly, turning my screen off and on fixes it for me tho.

Has anyone decided if this is a hardware or software problem? I've started having the same issue. Turning off the screen sometimes fixes it for me but not always. A reboot always fixes it.
Like just now... I was playing Zenonia 2 and in the middle of a battle I suddenly couldn't get the touchscreen to respond. I hit power to lock the device and immediately tried to turn it back on with power again... but I couldn't even get the unlock screen to work. I set it down for about 30 seconds and when I tried again it was fine. I pulled the game back to the top and it worked fine.
When this happens the "soft" buttons (back, home, etc) always seem to work just fine, so I'm inclined to say it's really a software problem.
Running stock + root.
My thought is that it has to be a hardware issue, or if everyone with the issues is rooted than it could be from the root. My device has fantastic response however I am not rooted.

I would think hardware as well, but the home and back buttons always work and they use the same touch surface...
I got the same thing here and rebooting appears to fix it. Sometimes it is so bad that I cannot move icons from one screen to another.
Did you guys try flashing stock 4.1.1 using fastboot or the toolkit? If that does fix it then its probably hardware problem.

I had the same problem ! solved by turning off the screen and turn on it
I have the same issue and mine isn't rooted yet so I don't think it is an issue with that. A wipe of the device doesn't help but a reboot usually does. This is my second N7 as the first was a warranty replacement for the headphone jack issue. The first never had the issue so I think it is an issue that should be addressed. I am outside my 14 days so I might have to go through Asus now.

For what it is worth, I just called Google and they are going to send me a new one. The lady that assisted me stated that she has had a few complaints with this issue and that they just replace it. N7 #3 should be on the way in a couple days. For some reason she said that the device wasn't set up properly in my profile so it will add a couple days to the process because of the long weekend.
Not a big deal. I have lived with it for a while now. At least they appear to be taking care of it and I wasn't transferred to Asus. At least yet.
My friend got a nexus with 4.3 on it that lives on it's own. It seems to make "touches" in different places from time to time. Anyone has any ideas on how to fix it?
Best regards,

In most cases it is caused by the moisture of the hand.
At least when my phone or tab does this, I lock the screen and wipe both the screen and my hand with a cloth and it solves the problem.
Well, this is happening without even touching it so I'll guess it's not about any moisture? Or do u think there is some moisture sticking to the screen and therefore the screen thinks it's a finger that's pressing the area?

i currently have this issue. it's not really a fix, but what i do is just lock it, then unlock it, and it's fixed.
Well, that isn't a great solution if the "problem" shows itself and you fix it after it happens
And about the moisture, that's apparently not the problem in this case regarding to my friend.

Lately, I'm experiencing a strange problem with my Note III. Every now and then, the display does not react to anything but the S-Pen. I can sweep my fingers back and forth across the display, absolutely no reaction, I use the S-Pen, everything as usual.
Rebooting solves the problem, at least for some hours.
Has anyone experienced something alike?
Does a factory reset help?
Regards
J

Update:
Now, rebooting doesn't help anymore. I can only use the S-Pen to interact with my device.

Nice so you don't have to worry about your fingers.
Try to reset. Our take back and claim warranty.
