Hai Guise.
I've tried three different Froyo ROMs from A.Development now and all of them work fine except for one niggle.
Google Listen doesn't seem to see my Google Account sync on startup and as such, won't work as it needs to sync with Google Reader.
Listen is one of my most-used apps and there isn't a replacement even nearly good enough to replace it on the market. Does anyone know a fix or workaround?
Thanks.
EDIT: Ah, I see there is another thread on this topic which remains unanswered. Sorry.
If anyone is interested, I've found that Doggcatcher comes close to replacing Listen, but at a cost of £6.99
It was me who posted I am glad I'm not a lone it doesn't work on sense versions or asop versions grrr

A quick search suggests we're not the only ones by quite some distance.
i am running google listen and have no issues at all, running skyraider 2.0.1 rom on Inc.....
Sent from my Inc using Skyraider 2.0.1 Custom ROM
Is sky raider 2.2 I'm running official HTC desire rooted 2.2 new radio etc ...... also played with asop by adamg and nprussells one no Google listen.
Ps
Hey thanks for the suggestion, its good app I get grumpy in morning without buzz out loud and 404.
I am deciding to buy a phone: between hd2 and desire. I would prefer hd2 as it can have multi-os. I am a developer and it's a plus to have a phone support multi os so that i can develop and test on these os without having to buy multiple phones... i am planning to use android as my main os but i am wondering if it worth it..
I have been reading a lot of threads of android roms on hd2 and posting quite some questions lately about flash 10.1 support, battery etc..
the more i read about the android roms on hd2, i keep finding more and more issues(with some constantly repeating):
like robot voice where some people say it's fixed in one thread and in another more recent thread someone else says he still has the issue (and has to enable loudspeaker and turn it off or some say the phone freezes when they get robot voice and have to reboot); that's pretty annoying imo..
there's also low volume issue that i always see in every rom thread i read..
then there is vibration problem or phone not ringing, missed calls issues, battery drain issue, etc... (the list is quite big )
my question: do these issues exist in htc desire sock rom or desire's custom roms (i am a fan of customisation and will probably be flashing custom rom on desire if i buy a desire instead of an hd2)?
My primary concerns are
calls, sms (I will be using it for my work; so missing a call or having bad call quality or missing sms are not acceptable)
camera (should react quick a bug-free to take photos with default winmo quality)
music player (just need decent sound)
,
is there an android rom having all these 4 functionalities stable and bug-free (haven't found any yet.. been doing a lot of research and reading a lot of android rom thread)...
sorry for the long post and thx for reading it... waiting for your responses... depending on my needs. Hopefully, i will get the necessary advice to make my final decision. Thanking you in advance
You better post you question in the Desire HD thread.
Most of HD2 owner doesn't own a DHD.
If I where you... I will buy the DHD if you want only android (year... I know a lot will disagree with what I write...)
i'd pick hd2 especially if you're a developer. most of issues are eliminated by new builds and fixes. i have everything working on my hd2 and i can't complain on anything.
I'm not sure it's good to test apps on a phone which doesn't run a native os.
Maybe the emulator from an SDK will be a better "test platform".
But I'm not a dev so take my answer just "as it".

thx for ur replies.
@emjakmaciej :
you don't have any low volume call or robot voice issues? or no vibration/ringtone problem? what rom are u using?
yup i know hd2 is a developer's dream but i wanna be sure i can still be reliable as a phone! (make/receive calls properly, send sms with all notifications working well)
As far as I know, I have few issues with my build.
I can't say less than a real DHD as I don't own one.
Latest build (from some chef) are very good actually. And it improves days after days.
My wife as a stock HD2 and sometime it freeze also.

well, actually i have stock rom that came from my providers shop. i didn't have any problems with it so i didn't change it. i'm using android MDJ FroYo HD v. 4.6 with hastarin's 8.6 kernel and everything works great. i only had an issue with mms using other builds but it works now.

i ended up buying the htc desire lol.. mainly because HD2 seems too big imo although i must agree this is a damn good phone but finally i realised that i really want android and not much interested with windows mobile.. so i think a native android phone is better.. thx again for all your help and advices!
htc hd2 is much much better!
U can choose between three different softwares and many many custom-roms
One thing you need to realize it that most people only post in a rom thread because they are having problems. So really most of the feedback you will get in a rom thread is negative but this does not include all of the thousands of people who have no problems at all usually when people have problems it is because they did something wrong and isn't actually a Rom issue Android works %99 Perfect on HD2 you shoulda got one. You are missing out
Which one seems better for you who have tested both? GB MIUI seems a little heavy to me
GB! It has it's bugs, but it's a little less iOSy and just a lot better over all. 10x better than sense.

except bluetooth unless you ran on a battery slaughtering .32 kernel ...
I like some of the polish of froyo better (menus, and notification pull-downs), but the new GB MIUI is now as good as/better in all other areas so I don't mind the trade off anymore.
In all honesty it feels _more_ stable to me than froyo now that it can run current kernels. Just be careful when using some of those tweak apps like auto task killer or the vm heap tool that can tweak some of the system settings.... MIUI is enough of a different beast that those tweaks can do as much harm as good and give you a false impression.
Miui Rom
You all know how Miui rom was translated to english. I think it would be better if devs remade the miui rom native english. They should also fix the bugs.
Dont you agree?

Yes, that would be wonderful....but it's about as likely as China talking CM7 into making the native language Chinese b/c they were big fans

I don't know... you may be right, but Android was designed from the ground up to be internationalized. The correct way to write an app (including system things like settings or a launcher) is to put all the text as variables, so someone just needs to edit an XML to put things in another language. This means the translating shouldn't introduce bugs.
I've been using Miui for over 3 months now as my daily driver and have not had to deal with any of the bugs that some have had. Love this rom!!!!
As for how dose 2.2 & 2.3 compare? There's not a whole lot difference between the two. The last build of 2.2 is really stable and fast. If your looking for a Miui rom that's solid and not going to be updated again grab 2.2.
I just installed the latest 2.3 build 1.4.22 lastnight and so far loving it. Really really snappy and so far very stable. As of the .15 build the notification pull down changed a bit. It went from 3tabs, notifications, resent apps and toggles to just having notifications and toggles. The most resent apps was moved back to long pressing the home button.
They also changed around the stock dialer and sms apps. Not really sure how, I haven't used either of them.
Outside of those changes and what I remember from the last Froyo build I used theirs not to to much different.

I loved the Manup themed version of MIUI Froyo, release 1.28 was my favorite. Having said that, I made the leap to Gingerbread the first day it came out, and I have not gone back. EVERYTHING I use works. I only have an FC issue with editing photos from the MIUI photo viewer. I really like the gingerbread, better than the 2.2. The drop down in rather sleek. Manup also has a themed version of the 4.8 release.
with the new update 1.4.22, i have less FCs.
occassionaly, i do have FC here and there but it's not consecutive. i like MIUI GB.
soon 4G and GPS has a fix, so it will fly again!

The first thing I noticed was the smooth app switching transitions. Then I noticed that deleting large text threads works smoothly for the first time. Then I noticed that the 3g radio wakes up faster. Then I tried 4g where I never ever have gotten a signal before and I get 1 bar. The sense clock has flipping tiles. The update caused me to have to clear the voicemail icon in settings>phone. The browser is snappier and pinch/zoom is smoother. The browser address bar now clears the entire address including the http:// prefix when selected with a single tap.

Music player EQ
Keyboard
Green bits and icons
Camera update
Various effects--App draw for starters
Wider APP2SD use---Motorola \Samsung has it working
These are what I have found so far that is Android standards and are NOT in this update. Plus there is the addition of TeleNav GPS as bloatware that will not get used.
All the above and no Sense update so what was the point in all this and also all the months of waiting for nothing.

It also breaks the Netflix app.
First impression?
Its missing Sense 2.0... WTF? I might as well had stayed with 2.33 beta, my brightness was usually set that way anyway.
*Sigh* oh well, happy anniversary I guess. 35 days to go of it untill I get 3.0.

No Netflix works with 2.3 just not this botched release this morning.

I am suprised that they did not add a sence update to this I had expected a sence update and a camera update. I wonder if htc has mad a statment on wht they did not upgrade sence. I really was hoping for the camera update. I have yet to install the update. I am doing it now but once i get installed it sounds like i will be diapointed.

That's the point. N1/NS/NS4G run ASOP 2.3. HTC Sense 2.3 is just AOSP with Sense and HTC's modifications. If Netflix works on AOSP, and all Android ROMs are based on AOSP (which they are), then Netflix isn't at fault. HTC is.

This is my point exactly.
So far I am not impressed with it. It may be smoother and all but it's the same boring sense. No inclusions of all the cool features of GB like the power widgets from pulling down the status bar. No theme chooser. No over scroll effect. No Screen off animations. **** is pretty gay to be honest. They could have at least made it a little more exciting.
let me answer with a question....could it be any gayyyyyer? lol
There currently couple of ICS Roms now in our forum (MIUI, Virtuous, CM9, and CG). But my question is, I am a real beginner when it comes to phone system devs, so, when I tried all the newest version of each ICS Roms, I do not feel any major differences. The camera does not work, same issues with crashing, slowness, and etc. I am not complaining about the issues and bugs, but I am wondering what's the difference between each rom? Are there any major difference? And what are we expecting next for the rom? Camera?

OK first of all MIUI ICS is much different then the other ics roms there is more customization in a much easier way and a whole different experience even thought they come from the same source I believe. Now when is comes down to the difference between virtuous and CM9 is the mods and other stuff that you won't notice I personally like virtuous it looks more professional with the mods such as the setting toggle in the notification bar its just me. CG is more of a stock experience so you won't see any mods just pure stock experience. That's the major changes I see and with the bugs I don't really know but there all being worked on with pretty much Feb so if camera doesn't work with one it won't work with the other just give him time I'm sure its coming very soon

This is where I get partially confused, i was running MIUIce Cream Sandwich (ICS v4.0.1) and have had NO issues whatsoever, the camera works, video recording works, and it is fast as all get out (3200-3300 quad consistent o/c to 1.5GHz). I was trying (and failing thus far) to find the camera framework, and hardware ID information from this ROM and inject it into one of the new ICS ROMs we have available.
what all would i need to pull from MIUIce cream sandwich in order to get a working camera in any of the other ICS roms? i know at least i would need to pull the camera .so files from system/lib, but is there any other completely necessary files that should be pulled to get this to work?
im really hoping that a dev stumbles across this and could point me in the right direction, because the camera CAN work, and i have a feeling i am really close to getting it to work, but i don't have the know how (quite yet) of the more experienced devs here.
i really wish it was as easy as my GS4G was when GB ROM leaks started surfacing, that was a 5 minute fix once the right tools came along lol

If you want something like that, Dark_Sys released a newer version, but it reads a GB code and not ICS. And it's quite good and stable. Everything works too. Super great on battery.

Then you can buy a Gnex or wait I know I'm starting to envy the Gnex. I'm just waiting for the HTC Ville which (Should) be unveiled at MWC towards the end of this month..It should be an absolute BEAST
i've been using creamed glacier since december as a daily. two main issues on it are the camera and low mic volume - though that comes and goes.
quattro was a mess for me. once booted the setup routine would crash out and widgets would constantly crash the launcher no matter what i tried.
testing out cm9 right now. big problem is that launcher (NOVA even) crashes a lot. otherwise call volume is great. runs decent. one great thing there is that it actually contacts google and restores apps. plus i received an email from google congratulating me on my purchase of a galaxy nexus
