3G not working? live outside USA? Problem solved!! - Bravo General

Change Base Band!
If you live outside USA and you are not getting 3G only 2G connections, you need to install a Base Band Switcher.
You can try it, I live also outside US and I installed:
I used China ME722 1.10 @ 850/1900/2100MHz and works perfect for D. R.
There was a guy from Jamaica who also try it and worked perfect.

Where are you from? The carrier you are using have to use the same frequency at&t uses.
My carrier uses 850 (claro dominicana)!!!
I can use also personal o claro argentina or brazil. This method should work.

I'm from Ukraine.
I was hoping that I can in this way to unlock the band 900/2100
But hardware is only supported 850/1900 right?

The operator works in 2100 range.
But 3g is not availabl for my phone.
I think the range of 2100 all the same is not supported by hardware.
Why else would my phone is not working 3G?

Will T-Mobile HD2 work on AT&T 3G?

I've read that the European HD2 (T8585) runs 3G on 900 and 2100.
I've also read that the Australian HD2 runs 3G on 850 and 2100.
AT&T appears to offer 3G on 850 and 1900, which is why the European model does not run 3G on AT&T, but the Australian version does.
What frequencies does T-Mobile offer 3G service on, and will EITHER the Euro or the Aussie version of the HD2 operate on T-Mobile?
Also, will the new T-Mobile HD2 work on AT&T's 3G frequencies?
I've tried to figure this out from posts and the wiki, but can't. Can someone please dispel my confusion? THANKS!
European version can select
frequents:
GSM : (900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900)
GSM : (1900+850)
UMTS : (2100+900)
networktype:

T-mobile's US HD2 works on 2100 MHz 3G in Europe?

Hi,
The official specs of T-mobile's HD2 says that the supported 3G bands are: WCDMA/HSPA: 1700 MHz (AWS) / 2100 MHz
Does it mean it will work on European 2100 MHz 3G too? Nexus one does so I suspect HD2 could too but as far as I could digg nobody had a straight answer to this question yet.
-AlefSin
actually i asked HTC CS before, and the answer is NO!
european countries WCDMA frequencies are the same with ASIAN countries. So no chance for European countries either.
hmmm I don't know JohnQ. In your attached email HTC is saying China's frequencies are different from the rest of the world so how do you say it's the same as Europe? I don't know much about 3G network in China though.
Just a few weeks back it was annoounced that the US operators had all signed up to migrating to the rest of the wold's GSM standards!
So in time we will all be singing from the same hymn sheet!
Accoridng to Wikipedia, while 3G in China is using the same frequencies as Europe in UMTS-I band, the air interface is different (TD-SCDMA vs TD-CDMA).
(sorry, cannot link to the docs since as junior member cannot embed links yet).

Wow, that's... odd! It seems US operators cannot even agree whinin US and now they all want to use the rest of world's standards! That's so un-american!
At&T, rogers, etc are all using european 3G frequencies, which is why you can use device from europe on their networks.
T-mobile US uses 1700 & 2100 (one for up stream, one for downstream) which is why it won't work on at&t etc or european frequencies.
The t-mobile 3G phones use both 1700 and 2100 at the same time; and they cant use 2100 seperately on other networks.
erm att uses 850/1900,and very few operators use the same, none in Europe use these bands

Well, it seems the answer is negative. I asked HTC:
Hi, I'm very excited about HTC HD2 on T-Mobile USA. However there is a cruicial question taht I could not find an answer for yet: Should I get this phone, when I travel to Europe, can I use 3G? The specs say this phone will support AWS/2100 MHz UMTS. Since the 2100 MHz is the dominant frequency for western european 3G networks, does it mean this phone would work on their 3G networks? Nobody at T-mobile's support could answer me so I hope you could solve this mystery.

And they answered:
Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Assistance Center. I understand the importance in researching a phone before you purchase it. This is a unusual situation and one T-mobile may not have been experienced with. For T-mobiles network the phone will be using the 1700 and 2100 bands. Although the 2100 band is common world wide. allowing the phone to pick up the edge network. T-mobile uses the 1700 for there 3G services. This band as far as we are aware is only used by T-mobile when it comes to major carriers world wide. More then likely the phone would not be able to pick up 3g if taken over seas.
However. T-mobile dose have a few branches in Europe. You may wish to check with them to see what bands they use for 3G, and if they have had any conflicts with American phones.

OK things are starting to get weird. I received a negative answer from HTC's customer support but then I found USA T-mobile G1 users that reported their phones were working on 2100 MHz 3G in Europe (G1 like US T-mobile version of HD2 only supports 1700/2100 MHz 3G). I need to buy a phone and these contradictory reports leave me confused
Here is what T-mobile says in the specs sheet of the new HD2:
Band (frequency): 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (AWS);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)

I tested my unlocked TMOUS HD2 in Sweden using 3's network and worked like a charm in 3G
Bit of a bump here as I'm trying to use my unlocked US T-Mobile HD2 with Orange in France and I can't do better than Edge (it went down to GPRS at one point...). I guess it could come down to spotty reception but I do get 3G speeds in my current location with an iPhone 3GS so I'm not so sure...
I'm using the AmericanAndroid ROM, maybe that's why my speed is throttled ;-)
I am using HD2 T-mobile in Serbia and i have no problem with conection or data speed.
I was on vacation and i didnt use Wifi ,and i used the phone all the time on 3G - the 3G network is incredibly fast, I even think that it is twice as fast as the EU HD2, which I used before..
Thanks, will check again then, maybe bad reception then!

Unlocking 3G on HTC Desire

I purchased an HTC Desire to use with my AT&T service. My Desire is GSM/WCDMA and not GSM/UMTS. Meaning, that my Desire can not run on anything but EDGE. I spoke with a rep at HTC and he let me know that there may be an APP to unlock the 3G service... Does anyone have any information on this?
Thank you kindly in advance...
~HR
isn't WCDMA = UMTS?
That's what I thought too, but the HTC rep, let me know that I can only unlock 3G with an App. That because I have an import and it's not currently available in the U.S. I would need to find this app and unlock my 3G service. The Desire wont pick up AT&T's 3G...

Yes........
I think it might be a frequency issue.
As far as I'm aware there are two models of Desire - A8181 and A8183.
In Australia, the model is the A8183 which provides WCDMA/UMTS at 850 and 2100 mhz. I think the A8181 operates at 900 and 2100 mhz.
If you imported from anywhere else other than Australia you'll most likely have a model A8181.
What frequency is AT&T 3g?
I do have an A8181. AT&T currently uses 850 and 1900 mhz...
Do you think there is a fix for this like the HTC rep mentioned?

AT&T uses 850/2100 like Telstra does in AU.
If you have the A8181 you are stuck with 900/2100. I think it's a hardware thing so an app probably wont help, not 100% sure about that though.

You bought the wrong phone ?(A8181)! As has been previously mentioned, you need an Australian Telstra Desire (A8183) to support AT&Ts 3G.
There is nothing that can be done about this because the hardware is different. You should sell your A8181 and buy an A8183.

Thanks for the reply... the back of the box says this:
Network - HSPA/WCDMA (900/2100 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) Which is what i thought rogers was.
Rogers GSM network operates on the frequencies of 850/1900 MHz so your 3g should work. Are you running stock rom or a custom rom? Do you know if your phone is rooted? If it's rooted and or you are running a custom rom then make sure your are running the last radio for your device..
Rogers uses 850/1900 HSPA bands not 900/2100 HSPA bands.
You will only get EDGE data.

WIND uses 1700 AWS frequency, no providers in Canada use those two frequencies (and god knows why NCIX and other stores are selling the European version to Canadians.) You should really read up on these things before buying a phone.
yeah thanks... i was never told it was an international phone.

Yes thank you, I am getting 3G on AT&T. Battery is very cooperative on 3G. MoreLocale 2 in the app store seems to do the trick but I don't have an lg g2 to test it. I guess you need to root it first and grant superuser permissions because of the way jellybean handles it.I came up with this thru a couple Google searches so its untested.
I'm tempted. I'm on straight talk in the USA. If it worked, tell me as a thanks cause I kinda want to get it. I wonder if it supports tmobiles hspa+42 network. I use a T-Mobile straight talk sim card...., it runs off of T-Mobile's network but I pay straight talk but no LTE.
I will give it a try. First I need root, do you know where I can get root for the LG G2?
