I was wondering if there is an app like VNC (using wifi) that will work as a gaming pad or keyboard. I know it sounds silly but i play racing games with friends and we have to change seats if front of the computer. If the phone worked as keyboard via wifi it would be great (all u really need is up down right left and space bar for handbreak). Obviously it must support multi touch. I think this is a good idea for developers as it might be a very usefull. Btw sgs2 is amazing
Try remote droid, you need the app from the market, the server from there website to be running on your computer and to be connected to the same network aka via wifi.
Works well for me, trackpad plus keyboard!

This is what i was looking for but theres no arrows (like on the keyboard) and multi touch doesnt seem to work any ideas?
It uses the keyboard you have installed, so install one that has arrow keys.
Multitouch works for me, two fingers scrolls for example.

hi,
i have searched xda and google to no avail, is there a way of moving through text ( in a SMS) one character at a time as you would if you had navigation/direction buttons?
thanks
If you buy Smart Keyboard Pro, it allows you to enable direction keys to do just that.

The latest HTC keyboard allows you to enable the volume controls as a cursor. It is also free!
jep, just use the htc keyboard.
there you have directional pad's to move the curserkey's
thanks,
I currently use HTC_ime (it's an older version), going to update to version 25 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5475283), hopefully this will do the trick
cheers

The Japanese keyboard already on the phone has arrows on the English alphabet keyboard, for the weak of heart when it comes to installing things.
Anyone get their A500 working with iDisplay?
HI
What mean iDisplay , pls , ( I'm a chicken!!1 )
It's an app that allows your tablet to be used as a monitor for your PC or Mac. Check out the market for it.
yeah works fine, tho a bit laggy.. but I figured that was more a product of wireless response.
Didn't work on mine. I was able to see the computer but got a failure message everytime I tried to connect. Even restart did not help so I returned the app.
Would have been a great idea though if it worked
Are there any alternatives?
I use splashtop for my setup at home... whether you move the physical mouse or the touch screen both the pc and the tab update... I can remotely (here at work) controll my pc's with this cool app... I can use it as a media player (a bit choppy) you can turn the sound off of the pc and have the sound come out your tab.. very cool... beats having to go into the basement to start a bunch of conversions... I just do it from my tab.

This isn't a VNC-like screen sharing program, it's an app that allows you to extend your monitor onto the tab like another monitor.

Sorry for posting here but it is only place I can as it's my first post.
So I've turned to XDA as I thought I would bring my TF101 into teh world of JellyBean.
Following the excellent guides on here I easily rooted and flashed the thing with Team EOS Jellybean ROM.
Went like a dream and a big thank you to the people who have invested so much time and effort.
I have a strange issue though:
Type in the address bar of the browser or in a Tapatalk post the keyboard pops up
Type one letter and it minimises.
I touch to type again and it appears
I can only type a few letters (sometimes only one) before it minimises again
this continues ..
The keyboard is basically unusable. Anyone had a similar issue?
Sounds like you are using the TeamEOS 4 ROM.
From TimDuru's page is notes:
- Default AOSP Soft keyboard crashing if using auto-suggestion
=> workaround: Go to the keyboard settings and change to Auto-correction off + Show correction suggestions:always hide.
You can also fallback to gapps 20121229 (no swipe feature with that version though)
See here for more issues and workarounds: http://public.timduru.org/Android/tf101/eos4/

I use Thumb Keyboard on my 10" tablets, and Swift Key on my Nexus 7 and phone. I hate the stock keyboard anyway.

I have same kind of problem but with Opera mobile browser. Text input in address bar works fine but input for any other input boxes in websites is pain in the ass. I manage to write one or two letter for example in login screen when keyboard vanished. That is strange since Opera uses its own keyboard layout.

OK I got this sorted out. Fistly Opera uses Android keyboard. I installed from google play Jelly bean keyboard (VLLWP) and it works fine.
I've got a wireless USB keyboard and mouse (just plug and play) attached to my Ouya. So I can pretty much use it as a basic pc.
Trouble is, internet browsing kinda sucks on this device. What's everyone using for browser?
I've tried Chrome and Dolphin, aside stock. But I'm not really happy with any of them.
Suggestions? thanks.
cheers.

Why aren't you happy with Chrome/Dolphin?
I use Miren (http://miren.cn/) on my mobile, but I imagine Chrome would be the best for Ouya. I can't remember where the English Miren site is, but if you click the green down arrow, it will download, and when you run it, it will be localized to your language (There is at least English; that's the version I use).
I like Dolphin HD, it's my favorite browser on Android. I've heard Opera and Firefox are both pretty good, though.
I haven't tried Chrome on the OUYA, but I don't like it very much on my phone/tablet, either.
Thanks for the replies guys. My main concerns deal with wanting to use keyboard and mouse exclusively while browsing (I think I have this part figured out since I can use alt tab for app switching, and have mapped HOME to FN+F1 on my keyboard). But also feel like both dolphin and chrome have some rendering issues and flicker here and there.
I've actually been using the stock browser most, as it seems to accept more keyboard shortcuts like CONTROL+L for the address bar.
But I'm still gonna check out some other options.
Thanks again.
Side note: Flipboard is a big WIN on a big screen. So that'll do for news browsing and such.

i like chrome myself
I know it may not be what you want to hear, but i ditched the wireless keyboard + mouse and just installed blueboard on my phone and i use chrome now. Just bookmark all your favourite pages, and for anything else, use your phone for fast navigation via blue board.
a different option
I like the torch browser. It works like chrome, but has extras for downloading content off the internet.

Just checked out blue board. No clue how it could possibly be faster than using keyboard and mouse.
Not to mention it doesn't address my issues at all, as it's lacking basic navigation buttons. The blue board controller doesn't even have a HOME button.
The app doesn't even stay paired.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone have a browser that works with the game controller? That would seriously help me a lot.
I'm kinda curious about BlueBoard, as I don't have an extra kb / mouse that I wanna deal with on the Ouya, but do use controllers all the time.
I don't have the Ouya just lurking, but my favorite browser for Android is xScope Pro.

firefox makes good use of the sticks (left one for scrolling, right one for zooming), but navigating through the tabs is a bit tricky..
Give lightning browser a try. You'll have to side load it but it has the feel of a real browser and works good.

Thanks. A 'real' browser experience is what I'm after. I'll check this out when I get home.
To clarify: real=desktop; since we have all the real estate of a big screen.

You cannot use the keyboard on the nexus 7 AFAIK.. I think you van just use the the arrow keys to navigate / scroll. Same goes with the functionality of the mouse.

Brother, I use the keyboard for typing and mouse for browsing the internet almost everyday.....and they work flawlessly together..i dont know why they cant be used for playing games...
During normal use, a kb and mouse work fine, as I use them constantly. But with games, you need an app that can act as an interpreter between the kb/mouse and the controls that the game is programmed to use. There are apps out there that do just that, and have been discussed in length in this section, general section, and the apps/themes section. They are apps like sixxaxis. There are others for tne kb mouse that you can try. A simple google search should get you where you need to be.
You should try USB/BT Joystick Center 8. It costs almost $5.00, but if it works for you, its worth it.
