You cannot use the keyboard on the nexus 7 AFAIK.. I think you van just use the the arrow keys to navigate / scroll. Same goes with the functionality of the mouse.

Brother, I use the keyboard for typing and mouse for browsing the internet almost everyday.....and they work flawlessly together..i dont know why they cant be used for playing games...

During normal use, a kb and mouse work fine, as I use them constantly. But with games, you need an app that can act as an interpreter between the kb/mouse and the controls that the game is programmed to use. There are apps out there that do just that, and have been discussed in length in this section, general section, and the apps/themes section. They are apps like sixxaxis. There are others for tne kb mouse that you can try. A simple google search should get you where you need to be.
You should try USB/BT Joystick Center 8. It costs almost $5.00, but if it works for you, its worth it.

[Q] snes usb controller

So I bought a USB snes controller off the net and received it today but when I plug it in I can't seem to use it to play snes any reason why is there an option I should be changing?
Assuming it functions as a standard usb gamepad (I'd be amazed if it didn't), it should work... you may need to enable Input Method in yongzh's emulators, and you'll have to set up the controls button-by-button. I have USB adaptors for NES and Sega controllers, and they work great. Also, are you on any custom rom? I've had trouble with USB gamepads on some roms but don't remember which ones... I'm using lightspeed with the honeyvillain kernel.

There's the issue. Aftermarket kernels enable gamepads.

And so did stock 3.1... you have to configure the buttons in the emu to use the gamepad.

Shall download that, will let you know how it goes.
SNESoid is only on SlideME now because yongzh violated the GPL with his emulators and got booted from the Android Market (so don't buy his stuff). SNES9X is way better IMO anyway, and all of Mark Broglia's emulators rock and are worth every penny, especially MD.EMU. You just have to configure the keys, click on the game button you want to set, press the button on the gamepad, and it's set. As others said, you need at least 3.1 as USB hosting wasn't enabled prior to 3.1. After doing that, you can turn off the onscreen controls too so they aren't in the way... if you were rooted, I'd recommend Honeybar so you can go true fullscreen without the status bar... it's quite nice
Ok so my tablet is now jailbroken, I have tested this on my computer at home and its working fine(the controller) I plug it into the tablet and only one button works (button number 2) anyway around this?
---------- Post added at 04:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 AM ----------
Ok so i got majority of the keys to work for some reason though the up down left right button are not configuring
Sounds strange... the d-pad buttons are mapped to Android's d-pad... I have tried some controllers at my job that don't seem to work right either, so maybe some just don't work right. I can say that the USB adaptors for old controllers work great... play NES games with a real NES pad on my tab all the time.
To revive the post:
So, a NES controller would do the trick? That's cool and all, but the NES one doesn't have the R and L back-buttons
The SNES controller DOES have the buttons I need, but I don't know if it works... (I want to play Castlevania 4...)

Hi there

I was wondering if there is an app like VNC (using wifi) that will work as a gaming pad or keyboard. I know it sounds silly but i play racing games with friends and we have to change seats if front of the computer. If the phone worked as keyboard via wifi it would be great (all u really need is up down right left and space bar for handbreak). Obviously it must support multi touch. I think this is a good idea for developers as it might be a very usefull. Btw sgs2 is amazing
Try remote droid, you need the app from the market, the server from there website to be running on your computer and to be connected to the same network aka via wifi.
Works well for me, trackpad plus keyboard!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
This is what i was looking for but theres no arrows (like on the keyboard) and multi touch doesnt seem to work any ideas?
It uses the keyboard you have installed, so install one that has arrow keys.
Multitouch works for me, two fingers scrolls for example.

can i use a controller in 9mm

i just bought it can i use a wired or a wireless controller
wired 360
wireless ps3
i got both
Try .45 or maybe 40s&w =p
Seriously though,I don't quite understand the question... Is 9mm a game and are you asking if you can use a controller as an input device?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
i mean i can use my xbox controller on Shadowgun and GTA3 also riptide so im asking if anyone found a way i can play it on 9MM
The game engine must support gamepad input, so no.
Sent from my Full Android on Bravo using XDA App
K900 if correct, each individual game will need to support the game pad device as an input. Let us know how it works out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
If your device is rooted you can use the sixaxis app with your ps3 controller and set up a touch profile to work with 9mm or any other game with on screen controls.

How did you set up gta3 with sixaxis? I bought it, and can't get it to work.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
In sixaxis, hit the menu button > preferences > Edit Touch Profile > set up the buttons to match the on screen controls. To make button placement easier, take a screenshot of gta with the on screen controls up and then click change background from within the sixaxis edit touch profiles area. It's good to get a screenshot both in and out of a car so you can see what the controls are for both. Hope that helps.

i configed the touch in SixAxis and i cant get it to work right.
What doesn't work right? Are you rooted?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
FOR GTA3: To use your dualshock3 controller, simply connect the controller via usb, press the PLAYSTATION button to pair and start playing (no need to open sixaxis). Another alternative would be using the touch profile in sixaxis, touch profiles also allow you to customize your keys.
I'm trying to create a sixaxis touch profile for 9mm, but I cannot take in-game screenshots of the on-screen control buttons. I'm using "screenshot it" and everytime i take a screenshot, the game automatically reload itself. I've also tried "screenshot" and that app doesnt even work. If anyone can take pictures of all the onscreen buttons in 1280x800 resolution, please share it so I can create a touch profile for it and of course i'll share it.
I was able to create touch profiles for the following games: gta3, backstab, and nova 2. I was able to configure it to work like in the console. If anyone want I can share touch profiles.

Have you tried using the built in Honeycomb screenshot tool? Settings > Screen > Put a check next to Screenshot. Then you just have to hold down the multitasking button to take a screenshot.

Would you mind posting them? There's already a thread Here.

Did you download 9mm from the Android Market? The only gameloft game that shows up on my tf is uno. I just bought MC3 for 99 cents on my gs2 and thought it would be awesome to play on the tab, but none of them show up... I just assumed incompatible. Do any other of their games show up for you?

9mm Sixaxis Profile (Working)
Hi Everyone,
It seemed some people were saying 9mm would not work with the sixaxis controller, but I did get it working with my Acer Iconia A500. Attached is the screen shot which AyDee posted a link to in post #16. Works perfectly with the game.
Cheers

[Q] remap volume buttons to game shoot action

Hi,
I've been looking around for a way to re-map the up or down volume control to the FPS games shooting action (be able to shoot with the volume buttons instead of the virtual buttons)
is there any way to accomplish this?
Strange i was thinking about this yesterday. Would making fps games much better.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Well all the key mapping is on system/usr/keylayout you can open the files as a txt and try to change them although not sure if it's possible.
If the game is made to only react to onscreen touch events, no go as no buttons at all are queried so remapping won't do a thing there.
So I'm going to try this,
connecto a usb controller and see if the game reacts to the controller
using the app keynumberTrack I'll catchthe controller key code
then go to the configuration files and try to do something
hope to get good results, I'll post the outcome later
thanks folks!
Why don't you just use a controller via Bluetooth or OTG USB ?
How much punishment could the volume buttons take considering they would then be used many hundreds of times more than normal usage.

coz I dont want to carry around a game controller, If I'm on the bus where do I put the table?, or i'm at work (on my break time) I think is pretty much comfortable to hold the tablet an be able to press a button instead of connecting a game controller.
regarding the punishment on the button you may be right jeje but if we don't try we will never know
I just sent madfinger games a tweet. They are always open to suggestions.
I tweeted them last week to include a ping Meyer in the score menu and they said they will do that.
Maybe they can do this. Deadzone would be a killer with this feature.
I said maybe it could be an option to enable in the settings menu.

That`s great! Maybe they can give some light, we know that not all the android devices have the buttons on the same place but an in-game option to map the game action to a button will be perfect

No, but i think I can use my left hand in the same way as I use it to type or make the games go with my thumb, it will depend on the person's dexterity.
I wasnt able to get a OTG cable yet so I will try to make one and share the results

Browser that doesn't suck?

I've got a wireless USB keyboard and mouse (just plug and play) attached to my Ouya. So I can pretty much use it as a basic pc.
Trouble is, internet browsing kinda sucks on this device. What's everyone using for browser?
I've tried Chrome and Dolphin, aside stock. But I'm not really happy with any of them.
Suggestions? thanks.
cheers.
Sent from my OUYA Console using xda app-developers app
Why aren't you happy with Chrome/Dolphin?
I use Miren (http://miren.cn/) on my mobile, but I imagine Chrome would be the best for Ouya. I can't remember where the English Miren site is, but if you click the green down arrow, it will download, and when you run it, it will be localized to your language (There is at least English; that's the version I use).
I like Dolphin HD, it's my favorite browser on Android. I've heard Opera and Firefox are both pretty good, though.
I haven't tried Chrome on the OUYA, but I don't like it very much on my phone/tablet, either.
Thanks for the replies guys. My main concerns deal with wanting to use keyboard and mouse exclusively while browsing (I think I have this part figured out since I can use alt tab for app switching, and have mapped HOME to FN+F1 on my keyboard). But also feel like both dolphin and chrome have some rendering issues and flicker here and there.
I've actually been using the stock browser most, as it seems to accept more keyboard shortcuts like CONTROL+L for the address bar.
But I'm still gonna check out some other options.
Thanks again.
Side note: Flipboard is a big WIN on a big screen. So that'll do for news browsing and such.

I know it may not be what you want to hear, but i ditched the wireless keyboard + mouse and just installed blueboard on my phone and i use chrome now. Just bookmark all your favourite pages, and for anything else, use your phone for fast navigation via blue board.
a different option
I like the torch browser. It works like chrome, but has extras for downloading content off the internet.

Just checked out blue board. No clue how it could possibly be faster than using keyboard and mouse.
Not to mention it doesn't address my issues at all, as it's lacking basic navigation buttons. The blue board controller doesn't even have a HOME button.
The app doesn't even stay paired.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone have a browser that works with the game controller? That would seriously help me a lot.
I'm kinda curious about BlueBoard, as I don't have an extra kb / mouse that I wanna deal with on the Ouya, but do use controllers all the time.
I don't have the Ouya just lurking, but my favorite browser for Android is xScope Pro.

firefox makes good use of the sticks (left one for scrolling, right one for zooming), but navigating through the tabs is a bit tricky..
Give lightning browser a try. You'll have to side load it but it has the feel of a real browser and works good.

Thanks. A 'real' browser experience is what I'm after. I'll check this out when I get home.
To clarify: real=desktop; since we have all the real estate of a big screen.
