I've got a wireless USB keyboard and mouse (just plug and play) attached to my Ouya. So I can pretty much use it as a basic pc.
Trouble is, internet browsing kinda sucks on this device. What's everyone using for browser?
I've tried Chrome and Dolphin, aside stock. But I'm not really happy with any of them.
Suggestions? thanks.
cheers.

Why aren't you happy with Chrome/Dolphin?
I use Miren (http://miren.cn/) on my mobile, but I imagine Chrome would be the best for Ouya. I can't remember where the English Miren site is, but if you click the green down arrow, it will download, and when you run it, it will be localized to your language (There is at least English; that's the version I use).
I like Dolphin HD, it's my favorite browser on Android. I've heard Opera and Firefox are both pretty good, though.
I haven't tried Chrome on the OUYA, but I don't like it very much on my phone/tablet, either.
Thanks for the replies guys. My main concerns deal with wanting to use keyboard and mouse exclusively while browsing (I think I have this part figured out since I can use alt tab for app switching, and have mapped HOME to FN+F1 on my keyboard). But also feel like both dolphin and chrome have some rendering issues and flicker here and there.
I've actually been using the stock browser most, as it seems to accept more keyboard shortcuts like CONTROL+L for the address bar.
But I'm still gonna check out some other options.
Thanks again.
Side note: Flipboard is a big WIN on a big screen. So that'll do for news browsing and such.

i like chrome myself
I know it may not be what you want to hear, but i ditched the wireless keyboard + mouse and just installed blueboard on my phone and i use chrome now. Just bookmark all your favourite pages, and for anything else, use your phone for fast navigation via blue board.
a different option
I like the torch browser. It works like chrome, but has extras for downloading content off the internet.

Just checked out blue board. No clue how it could possibly be faster than using keyboard and mouse.
Not to mention it doesn't address my issues at all, as it's lacking basic navigation buttons. The blue board controller doesn't even have a HOME button.
The app doesn't even stay paired.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone have a browser that works with the game controller? That would seriously help me a lot.
I'm kinda curious about BlueBoard, as I don't have an extra kb / mouse that I wanna deal with on the Ouya, but do use controllers all the time.
I don't have the Ouya just lurking, but my favorite browser for Android is xScope Pro.

firefox makes good use of the sticks (left one for scrolling, right one for zooming), but navigating through the tabs is a bit tricky..
Give lightning browser a try. You'll have to side load it but it has the feel of a real browser and works good.

Thanks. A 'real' browser experience is what I'm after. I'll check this out when I get home.
To clarify: real=desktop; since we have all the real estate of a big screen.

Am I the only one who can't get the XDA forums to show and function correctly in the Xooms native browser?
There is overlapping text (the "Rate this Thread" text), and the search function can't be used (when I tap the dropdown for seaching the forum, the drop down pops down, but if i tap the text area and start typing, the text ends up in the address bar for the browser).
I tried the XDA app, and it just force closes every time I try to go into a thread.
Ideas?
The XDA Premium app works perfectly on HC 3.1

I prefer browsing XDA from the browser. I switched it to XDA Classic because I would get extreme lag when typing on a thread.
I have no lag when I switched to classic. Try that and see if it helps. You can scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you have the option to switch to XDA Classic. It's not eye candy but it will do the trick.
You're right that did help the keyboard lag haha
Cool. Glad it worked.
To the OP I didn't realize you were using the Classic XDA page. Sometimes you get the overlapping of words but it doesn't happen a lot. I would try browsing through an alternate browser like Dolphin and see if that helps.
Another thing I found weird is that I can't upload attachments in XDA anymore. I'm assuming it's because I switched to classic XDA.
Actually I wasn't using the XDA Classic page. It was the new one. I just tried switching it and it is formatted much better, but the search still doesn't work right. You tap the "Search this Thread" button and it pops open the text box, but tapping the text box brings up the keyboard and closes the text box - placing your typed input into the address bar.
I just downloaded Dolphin HD. Will give that a shot.
Thanks
Unfortunately, Dolphin HD has the same issues. It doesn't render the page well in the non-classic mode, and I can't get the search function to work in either mode (same issue as the standard browser).
Thaks,
Jeff

dolphin HD and the default browser use the same rendering engine. Unless you use Opera or the FF beta I would not expect a difference in behavior. Ad block or turning off javascript may help. The forums are great but some of the JS on here is questionable at best, particularly around ads....
I just tried the default forum with JS off and it was very snappy. It breaks some of the dropdowns but what does work is fast.
I was wondering if there is an app like VNC (using wifi) that will work as a gaming pad or keyboard. I know it sounds silly but i play racing games with friends and we have to change seats if front of the computer. If the phone worked as keyboard via wifi it would be great (all u really need is up down right left and space bar for handbreak). Obviously it must support multi touch. I think this is a good idea for developers as it might be a very usefull. Btw sgs2 is amazing
Try remote droid, you need the app from the market, the server from there website to be running on your computer and to be connected to the same network aka via wifi.
Works well for me, trackpad plus keyboard!

This is what i was looking for but theres no arrows (like on the keyboard) and multi touch doesnt seem to work any ideas?
It uses the keyboard you have installed, so install one that has arrow keys.
Multitouch works for me, two fingers scrolls for example.

first step would be using the search function on these forums...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28734102&postcount=5 download the apk here...
then just use any browser other than chrome.
alternatively, if you're using youtube website, just go to www.youtube.com/html5 and enable html5. that will allow your device to use html5 for any webpages that use embedded youtube videos.
Thank you very much guy. I don't know why didn't think about a different browser. Again thank you

I am running FireFox (google Mozilla APK) and Flash APK and using a FireFox addon called 'Full Screen'. It gets rid of the URL part so u can zoom in and get as close to 'full screen'; if u try to use the regular full screen, most of the time the browsers crash.
At first I thought 'Full Screen' sucked b/c of the ratings but its not as bad, actually its pretty good b/c it seems to work perfect for tablet (seems like phones its not so good since smaller screen). Just make sure u know that u have to turn it on thru the menu (no quick hotkey/gesture) and to turn it off to get back URL bar, u hold down on a page till popup comes on asking to turn it off or not. Overall its pretty good on the Nexus 7, only wish is to have a quick gesture/hotkey to turn it on.

Is this still working for you because I tried doing it and despite engaging full screen my Firefox crashes as soon as I enable the flash video by tapping it.

I just installed MX Player from the Store. Copy/Paste the url and it plays. Stupid that Adobe hasn't released a patched version yet.
Sorry for posting here but it is only place I can as it's my first post.
So I've turned to XDA as I thought I would bring my TF101 into teh world of JellyBean.
Following the excellent guides on here I easily rooted and flashed the thing with Team EOS Jellybean ROM.
Went like a dream and a big thank you to the people who have invested so much time and effort.
I have a strange issue though:
Type in the address bar of the browser or in a Tapatalk post the keyboard pops up
Type one letter and it minimises.
I touch to type again and it appears
I can only type a few letters (sometimes only one) before it minimises again
this continues ..
The keyboard is basically unusable. Anyone had a similar issue?
Sounds like you are using the TeamEOS 4 ROM.
From TimDuru's page is notes:
- Default AOSP Soft keyboard crashing if using auto-suggestion
=> workaround: Go to the keyboard settings and change to Auto-correction off + Show correction suggestions:always hide.
You can also fallback to gapps 20121229 (no swipe feature with that version though)
See here for more issues and workarounds: http://public.timduru.org/Android/tf101/eos4/

I have same kind of problem but with Opera mobile browser. Text input in address bar works fine but input for any other input boxes in websites is pain in the ass. I manage to write one or two letter for example in login screen when keyboard vanished. That is strange since Opera uses its own keyboard layout.

OK I got this sorted out. Fistly Opera uses Android keyboard. I installed from google play Jelly bean keyboard (VLLWP) and it works fine.
Title says it all, I keep going back and forth, the only annoying part of using Chrome is that when you try to to scroll horizontally it is a little trigger happy to switch tabs/windows.

I use Chrome. I have the occasional tab switching problem you mention but it really doesn't happen often the way I use it. Being able to sync bookmarks, passwords, history, and opening tabs from other devices is invaluable to me.

Never used Chrome on a phone before.
I had the forward button on my Xoom tablet on the address bar.
I use dolphin find it the best overall. However some financial sites block transactions on Dolphin but work ok on Chrome. So for those I use Chrome.

Yea, On a TABLET. The ONLY way to obtain a forward button and tabs at the top like a tablet, You would need to wait for CM10 or something for Mutiapp DPI.
You wont be able to do that on STOCK rom..
Chrome and Dolphin here. The only thing I hate about Chrome is the lack of an exit button.

Boat browser is my favorite, better than dolphin IMO, chrome sucks on android.
The stock browser not supporting a permanent desktop-mode is enough to make me look for a replacement though, this is a HUGE letdown for me. Not only that, but the removal of flash content makes the stock browser almost useless to me other than the text preview function.
However, It seems the stock browser is the only one that supports text preview without opening a link (mostly useful for various forums) in addition to smart scroll.
Which would be the best browser that supports flash while not being laggy/bloated with features and also having a permanent desktop mode?
I've found the latest chrome update to be really slow. In comparison, the stock browser loads the same page/pages in double quick time. Am I the only one or is it a general problem across the board?

I also found Chrome to be too sluggish. The browsers with the highest ratings at least based on reviews were Dolphin & Boat. A lot of the reviews on Boat said it was very snappy, very fast and that imo is probably the biggest factor with Flash support and a permanent desktop mode right behind.
been using chrome, but slowly trying to convert myself to the default browser so i can actually use all the gestures that i paid to have on the damn phone
I personally love dolphin with the jetpack installed. Normal browsing, jetpack turned off. When watching flash, jetpack turned on. With that turned on, flash works like dream on this phone. Can watch full episodes of Colbert no problem =)

Chrome.
Works great.
So people using Chrome. ...does it have flash support?
