[Q] HD2 on 7392 cannot resume from sleep - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I have loaded the 7392 ROM on HD2. everything works perfect except that i cannot resume my phone back when the screen lock kicks in.
Only way i can resume phone is by either plugging in headphones or usb...
any way i can change key mapping or better solution?

Same problem with 7720 as well
I upgraded to 7720 but still have the same issue...
any thing i can do here to change the keymapping?

So many problems with new HD2

Hi
I'm having so many issues with my new HD2 i think i must have the unit they were using for footie practise in the stock room.
Anyway i got my unit from Handtec last week. It has been completely unstable but here's a list of what's happen just this morning...
The Sense music player, previously working fine stops working after i placed some additional mp3s on the sd card - pressing the music icon on HTC Sense results in HTC Sense restarting - every time. Only resolved by a hard reset.
Multiple occurrences of "A problem has occurred with device.exe" , i think generally when i try to turn on the phone connection but i'm not sure of this is always the cause or not.
The phone radio connection goes off and wont turn back on despite going into comm manager and pressing the on/off soft button multiple times.
I press the power button button to bring the phone out of stand-by and it goes back to stand-by a second later, over and over again. I haven't even got time to slide the unlock icon across the screen. Then finally after a number of attempts it will either stay on, or put itself through a soft reset without me having initiated it.
How long does it take for HTC Sense to load on others phones? It can take mine minutes to move from the Loading HTC Sense screen to showing the actual Sense interface.
After a hard reset and allowing the device to fully boot up, i promptly got "A problem has occurred with device.exe" as soon as i tried to turn the phone radio on. this is before doing ANYTHING else after a hard reset.
I then got "A problem has occurred with filesys.exe" when trying to get weather for the first time. then the device shut down. Then it went back to the behaviour of going to stand by 1 second after turning iton. This is all within the first 2 minutes of a hard reset.
I really haven't one anything to this phone. It still has the same ROM that it has when i received it - 1.43.70124 from memory. I would tell you exactly except at the moment its refusing to open the 'Software Information' screen in Settings-About Phone. It just freezes up instead (that's a new bug in the last 5 minutes, woot!)
Does anyone have any ideas? i'm hesitant to put the 1.48 rom on in case i need to return the unit and they refuse due to me changing the rom.
Thanks.
My advise is to flash it with the same ROM version. Maybe the ROM is corrupted. If that still doesn't work, get a replacement.

The Sense Music Player on my HD2 crashes everytime it's tab is selected when there are music files on my memory card. Since I need music on my phone, I disabled the Music Tab and got Conduits Pocket Player instead. Works great, and is fast and smooth.
Never had a problem/error message on my HD2.
I'm also using the 1.43 ROM, got mine from eXpansys.
Try doing another hard reset and see how it goes... It shouldn't be spitting out fault messages after a hard reset...
The sense music player seems to have a problem if you load too much music into a memory card at any one time. When I first got my 16 gig microsd card, I decided to fill it up with music, and when the sense music player tried to scan what was on it, the whole sense interface just froze and I had to soft reset ny phone.
I found a temporary solution to the problem by having the computer connected via ActiveSync and just transferring the files over whilst the sense music tab was open. This way, the program can sorta scan each song as it is being added rather than bomnbarding it with a whole heap of songs at once and causing it to crash.
By doing it this way, I've managed to put around 7 gigs worth of music on my phone. I hope htc fix this soon as well as it is obviously another bug with the phone.
Hey, don't be disheartened; my first set was like that as well. device.exe error on the first boot up, and pretty much your experience. Slow Sense UI loading, unstable device, etc. Get a new set if you can.
You only have one option- send it back
It's patently a hardware or initial ROM fault. Don't bother with trying to flash a new ROM, just get in touch with Handtec for an RMA

Thanks for everyones advice, its appreciated.
Attempting to flash the same ROM onto the device is a good idea, too obvious to occur to me! Out of interest, if I was to flash the 1.48 WWE ROM and it didnt fix anything, would it allow me to downgrade to the 1.43 WWE ROM again? or would the installer scream at attemptoing a downgrade?
It may well be a hardware error though, there's so many things going wrong. But then you would think a hardware error would stop it working at all. Maybe its some dodgy memory... well im going to try flashing 1.43 for now and will wait for advise on the upgrade followed by possible downgrade idea (in case i need to return it - trying to avoid that as im in Oz and trying for a replacement to the other side of the World at Xmas just sounds like a bad idea).
Thanks
stick on 1.43 and just wait until an official update has been released,
Why would you want to put yourself into such situation. Don't mess with the device. If you flash it with 1.48 and fail to downgrade whatever the reason is, you will void the warranty. Flashing 1.43 should tell you if it's a software or hardware error. If it's not a hardware and 1.43 solved the issues, you're free to do whatever you want with 1.48

I also had this problem, found it was nothing to do with the above, there was just one song that it didnt like the file name off. It had % and a few other sybols in it, changed the name it was fine.
Just wanted to update my own thread.
I tried reinstalling the 1.43 ROM completly as suggested and it seemd to solve most of my issues for a few hours then they all started showing up again along with more new ones... but...
I then went and bought a replacement SIM card from my carrier as my old sim was 6 years old. Put it in the phone and hey presto, my HD2 has magically come good! About 48 hours now, and considering i couldn't go more than a few hours previously without having to pull the battery, soft or even hard reset, im calling it fixed!.
Now i have no idea why an old sim would affect parts off the system that are not to do with making phone calls but all i can say is a new sim has solved all off the freezes, glitches, basically evrything. The device is just stable now. So my advise to anyone who thinks they have a bad 'un, at least try replacing your sim before returning it.
Oh and the old camera patch seems to be good as well.
I do love a happy ending.
LOL, windows mobile is never stable, I buy it just for fun.
you might want to edit the title of the thread now that your problem's solved so everyone can learn from your XP

Yep, if there is a foreign letter or some odd character in the title/artist/album of a song, it can cause manila to crash

HD2 Bug: No Standby mode, screen always on

Hello
My HD2 Worked well for a long time, but now everytime I press the "sleep" key it turns off for half a second then turns back on and proudly displays the lockscreen without me pressing anything. There is no way to turn the screen off and go in standby mode anymore.
Obviously the battery drains so much faster from not being able to have the screen off and this silly problem actually makes the phone unusable
I flashed a few roms using HardSPL and now HSPL2. I'm currently running Artemis 11.0, the problem appeared may days after flashing while using Artemis ROM 9.0. A hard reset seemed to fix it but the problem reappeared. Today flashing 11.0 only solved the problem at first boot.
Anyone had that before? Not sure if it's software/rom related or not anymore. HELP
As far as Ive seen, its only you an me who have had this problem so far.
Honestly, Im relieved to see someone else with this problem.
I had exactly as you described, but using Axlor roms.
It worked fine for 1/2months, then all of a suddon the screen backlight wouldnt go off, but a reset fixed it.
But it got worse and worse.
Now nothing will work...
Ive taken everything back to stock, and i mean EVERYTHING! Not a single app installed.
And I still have this problem. I've tried it all.
I think its a warrenty job....
EDIT:
I also noticed the backlight will go off fine when the phone is charging, is that the same for you?
I just sent the phone off to Tmob today, to see if they can fix/replace it.
I'll keep you informed.
Same problem. Was running fine on stock ROM 1.66 then backlight did not dim and would not go into standby. Put into standby, screen goes off then straight back on to the lock screen. Since then have had other problems at boot, sometimes it locks on HTC white screen needing battery removal, sometimes launches straight into Navipanel and will not exit, HTC sense homescreen sometimes launches in landscape and will not go into normal portrait mode. Reflashed with different ROM's same symptoms persist so have returned to Vodafone UK under warranty, fingers crossed.
i've had this on early versions of the rom i use, the chef fixed it, making me think its the software, not your phone.
I experienced this issue when I minimised a game called virtual pool. Closing it in task manager would then allow me to permanently make the phone sleep.

How come Ive still got the problem after reflashing several times and taking everything back to exactly as it came from the box?

I too have had the navi panel problem.
Im praying they fix mine under warrenty
Yes the problem is exactly what you describe, hard reset and flashing to a stock rom doesn t fix it with no programm running in the background
Navipanel seems to be on randomly sometimes so can I guess it could be related.
I found a fix, after starting the phone, plugging and unplugging the usb cable to the phone WHILE THE SCREEN IS ON fixes it but only until the next restart
Considering sending it for warranty now.
Thanks for replies! If anybody knows more let us know
Update re standby problem
Got my phone back from Vodafone UK today. Was advised software corrupted and that they had reflashed and it had been fully tested and was now working fine.
On power up (even without SD card or SIM) it had exactly the same fault as before, when put into sleep mode the screen comes back on after about 1 second.
I tried the plug in and remove USB lead fix and this also works for me until the next restart so it would seem that this must be a hardware problem.

Thanks for this workaround. Now with the urgency gone hopefully somebody finds a lasting solution without the need of sending it in..
I have same problem guys after 4 months using. ...and my HD2 is unusable with no standby. I mean battery gets weak during 2-3 hours. Whats your guess guys is it software problem. Cause Im afraid of this is hardware prob because after reset goes my device in wrong state.
Help!
Sadly I'm running into this same error with my t-mobile hd2....getting serious power drain...can anyone confirm if the task 29 helped at all? Mine won't stay off for more than 30 seconds.
** Found out the google easy sms beta app I was running had a service which was causing the app to come out of standby...uninstalling this app cured the problem.
For me, it was a sd slot problem. When i removed the sd card, phone always waked up after 0.5 seconds, and card was detected as bad.
Now the SD slot was changed (under guarranty) and it work fine, no wake up if sd slot is empty.
Any update on this? My HD2 starting doing this today as well
And I have no usb cable at work to 'trick' it. The only option is to pull the battery which I don't want to do. This is ridiculous. Am I going to have to hard-reset the damn thing to fix it?
FYI I didn't do *ANYTHING* to my phone in a couple of weeks (no new apps, etc.) and it started doing this out of the blue.
You hit the red 'end call' button and it goes black..then comes right back on.
The odd thing is it *thinks* its plugged in because the only screen setting I can get it to acknoweldge is the 'backlight level when charging'. So somehow my phone thinks its plugged in even though my only usb cable is back home.
Grrr. No registry tweaks or temp files I can delete to reset this behavior?

[Q] Serious Touchscreen Lag Issue [UPDATED]

First of all, sorry if this thread is out of place, but I'm not sure where else to turn.
My HD2 worked terrifically with FroyoStone 3.2, Hastarin 7.6 up until last Wednesday (5 days) ago. Then I started to experience, and have not been able to fix, serious TS lag issues.
Symptoms: I hit the unlock button, swipe to unlock, and the touchscreen will be responsive if I KEEP using it...if I pause for up to 3 seconds, the screen is no longer responsive. I have to relock the phone, unlock, and then swipe again to get it to work.
The touchscreen works perfectly fine in Windows Mobile 6.5. (Energy 2361X)
Attempts to fix: I've formatted the SD Card inbetween trying all of the following items-
1) Switch to MDJ ROM with MDJ kernel
2) Switch to Bluetopia ROM (0.5, 0.6 & 0.6.1) with Hastarin 8.0 OR 8.1
3) Switch back to FroyoStone 3.2 with kernel that comes with it
4) Update Radio ROM
5) Update to new Energy WinMo ROM -- after running Task 29 first.
Today, I purchased a new SD Card, loaded it with a clean install of Android, still have issues.
Also tried:
1) Turning off all LED notifications
2) Disabling Auto brightness in WinMo and Android
3) Disabled Screen Auto-Rotate
Honestly, I'm all out of ideas, and I hope someone in the community has a way to help out. I find it so odd that the touchscreen works great right after a "wake-up" as long as I keep it constantly stimulated...then fails to respond if I let it sit for more than three seconds. Is this a polling issue?
All ideas are appreciated. Thank you
UPDATE:
Followed another thread that suggests using the exact same WinMo ROM as the Builder -- matched my ROM with cmylxgo's WinMo ROM (author of Bluetopia) after another Task 29...no fix.
More Information
UPDATE 2:
Also tried 32K clusters and 64K clusters when formatting the card. Problem exists with either size.
There are G-Scripts to disable the G-Sensor and then re-enable it without rebooting.
If you want to jump to the extreme and want to remove all the sensors entirely.
Code:
su
rm -rf /system/lib/hw/*.sensors.so
Terminal
Thanks for your quick reply.
Unfortunately, I'm not the best with working with Linux/Terminal commands -- I tried typing in your code, and it returned that there was no such file/folder as -rf, and then I removed that section, and it said that it could not find the system/...
So obviously, there's something I'm missing, or an error in the syntax, that I cannot debug.
Any help is appreciated.
Are you having any data freezes or are you on an area with poor to no signal? I get really bad system lag when I loose signal while my phone is trying to download. Ppp will freeze and the phone will be unresponsive till reboot. Only way I avoid this is to turn off data if I got into a building I know I will loose connection in.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Updates
Thank you for your reply --
I checked into the disconnects being an issue by enabling Airplane Mode and seeing if I still had the same results, and unfortunately I do. I tried by disabling the Wifi and Mobile network separately, and still same issues.
But, here's an update on the issues:
Installed TYTUNG's NexusHD2-FRG83 V1.6, and this thing is very, very lightweight. Great battery life, great data (went to sleep, woke up, and not only was my phone still on...but I didn't have to reset data to check email...nice). The issues still remain. These are the newest things I've tried:
1) Remove Boxwave screen protector
2) Run from Airplane Mode.
I did however notice something really, really important: when the screen freezes, if I simulate a multi-touch gesture (pinch to zoom, etc), sometimes it wakes up! This is not a guaranteed thing (like 60%), but definitely something to work with.
Also, I noticed that one time that the touchscreen stopped responding, I tried the multitouch, no help...but I stayed on it. Multitouch tapped like crazy for a solid 6 seconds...then tried to shut the screen off -- and that button didn't respond. It was as if I saturated some bus of some sort that it had to clear out before it could finally shut the screen off.
Finally, I've noticed that the screen just needs to shut off for the touchscreen to unfreeze -- not go into a full lock situation. So, if the screen goes black, and I hit the lock key immediately, it'll unfreeze the TS.
Thanks to everyone who is trying to think of an idea!
i seem to be having the same issues as you right after i wake the phone up to unlock it. locking the phone is a habit for me to try and save as much battery as possible and also to not press any buttons while in my pocket.
im running a cyanogen rom and i changed the setting to allow me to unlock the phone by pressing the center windows key. i noticed that when the phone will not allow me to unlock it i can press the menu key and unlock it but i cannot use the touchscreen at all until i relock and unlock.
sometimes i have to do this a few times before the touchscreen comes back. i was thinking it could be my sd card but this started to happen today. i have been using android on my hd2 daily for the past 12 days without any problems. its weird that it started all of a sudden.
so it seems we still dont have a fix for the touchscreen freeze yet, right ?
Same problem here
Hi, I am experiencing the same problem.
Tried few versions of Android, The same problem repeated itself.
So I had to return to WM6.5 - there it works good. Only I have to reset the phone twice a day :-(
Hope someone will find brilliant solution for the sad problem that prevents using Android...

HD2 Freezes When Screen Turns Off With Bluetooth Off

Hi all,
I'm getting a very wierd error that started the other day when I was using the radio on Darkstone's SuperRAM Android build (not the NAND version). When turning on the radio in this build it automatically turns bluetooth on, after I was finished using it I switched off (and disabled bluetooth).
Ever since, if I try to use the phone with bluetooth off and the screen goes in to sleep mode, the phone freezes up completely (hardware button lights don't turn on either); I have to either use the hard reset button or pull the battery to get the phone to turn back on.
The wierd thing is, if I have bluetooth switched on, it works fine (but drains the battery a lot faster than normal). It is also not just related to android, I tried it in the windows mobile rom I was running (OzDroid) and have even converted over to Magldr and a NAND edition of Android and still get the same problem...
Any ideas!?
Same problem here.
I know that I used Pocket Mechanic to repair my registry and after that it started to happen. Hard reset and the problem still persists.
Update
Problem solved!!! It was SpriteBackup Restore Settings:

[Q] Omnia 7 keeps turning off

Hi all
Today my Omnia 7 keeps turning itself off. The behavior doesn't seem to be entirely predictable, but it happens when the screen shuts itself off to save power and when the light sensor shuts the screen off. It also happens when you plug headphones in, but it happens unpredictably as well.
I've tried taking the battery out and leaving it for a while, as well as some longshot ideas like setting a password and changing the timeout interval.
Has anyone experienced this, and does anyone know how to fix it? The place I bought it from are refusing to replace it, even though it's only a few months old, and I don't want to send it in for repair. (That's Buymobilephones.net btw - do not use).
Thanks
Hi
I am facing the same problem
Unfortunately, it seems that Omnia 7 isn't designed in a proper way, because you are the fifth guy face the problem form the same device.
I think Samsung should consider this and solve it
the problem is we don't know from where t this problem comes from
is ti hardware or software
but I think it hardware issue because while I was formatting process it just restart itself
if you have any news just tell us
Thanks for the reply
It also freezes every morning after disconnecting from the charger but not until I get in the car. lol. So I assume it's either when I put it in my pocket or take it out. I have to take the battery out and then the whole turning off thing starts. I've called Samsung who said they would repair it, but as you said it might be software related, so really I should try rolling back from 7008 to 7004 (and remove chevron) or update to NoDo properly. Either way I think getting it back to MS official would be a good starting point.
Thanks
i have almost the same problem. my omnia 7 keeps restarting every time i'm in an app or using ie or marketplace, sometimes is just showing the samsung logo and stays like that untill i remove the battery or do a hard reset.
these problem appeared after i updated to nodo 7392 from 7008 so i'm thinking it's a software problem, then i rolled back to 7004 thought everything was ok and it started restarting again.
so rolling back to other firmwares wont help, if anyone found the cause or a solution for this problem please let us know
