[Q] My Samsung focus screen remains alive. Why? - Focus General

Hi Guys,
Few days back I just purchase samsung focus WP7 from some private seller. I am facing problem.
My focus screen always remain active. When I lock the screen by pressing side lock button after exact 2 min a windows demo activate automatically and doesn't turnoff until I press any touch button. It drains the battery any also take almost 10/12 hrs to get charge around 70% coz screen always remain alive due to that demo/screensaver.
could somebody help me out to solve this matter?
My phone detail is as follows:
Its Samsung Focus from at&t but I'm not using at&t connection

PC windows I am using is Windows 7

You've been sold a demo phone, which are usually stolen (from stores).
What I've said here, applies to you too.

Read the forum sticky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982626

I know the forum sticky, and I agree with it. That's why I also bolded my response on that.
Sometimes you can't return the phone. There's no reason to punish the buyer, in that case and it's meant to help.

How did you guys update? Zune isn't showing any updates yet
I forgot the phone overnight with the 3g turned on and saw the update notification when i woke up, connected it to zune and updated straight away
Read that it improves call quality/battery life and the screen responsivness or something, indeed it seems to be slightly faster when scrolling.
I can't post the link, there are more details at winrumors.com
I haven't gotten the update yet and Zune says I have the latest version.
I wonder if it's because I did the Registry-Unlock-Forever-Hack? Have the ppl who already got the update unlocked their phones in any way?
Btw, I'm on open market v 1.0.2.10
guessing i wont see this update, with me being on mango beta..

I have the unlock aswell, so it's maybe something region related ? ( I'm from Romania )
Well I relocked it (and changed the Mobile-Operator-String to VOD-DE) but still nothing.
Hope they haven't just forgotten about the open market devices...
I'm from Germany and I read other German phones got it (but they are branded ones)
I'm from Belgium and I have an unbranded phone with German firmware on it. No update here
Great update
I am in Canada with Telus haven't had the update long enough to test battery out but the call quality and connection is WAY better. In area's where before the phone struggled to even find a signal it now has 4 of 5 bars area's where before it'd have 3 it's got 5. great updated hope for everyone else it isn't just helping out telus if you haven't plugged into Zune and updated yet get on it.
LG E900
Using the LG E900 unlocked (Vodafone) from Amazon USA. AT&T USA 3G.
Received update when I connected to Zune desktop. Less than half hour. Can't really see any significant changes but I notice that vertical scrolling is improved. Didn't have it long enough to really notice.
USA, AT&T, update complete!
Sent from my LG-E900 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
i want this update also

Any chance your phone is dev unlocked, or on the Mango beta? I'm with Telus as well, but haven't gotten any updates yet. My phone is on Mango, and unlocked.
An unbranded UK phone here, still on build 7392 and firmware 1.0.3.10 - no updates to be found so far...
greetings from argentina, im waiting for the update too, this is mi actual firmware info
os version 7.0.7392.0
firmware revision 1.0.1.11
harware revision 1.0.0.0
transmition software version 1.0.1.11
hardware transmition version 0.3.5.0
boot version 1.5.1.0
chip SOC version 0.30.2.0
i have an LG E900h from PERSONAL company and i still haven't the update on my zune
the fun fact is that a friend of mine have the same phone bought on the same company the same day as mine, he already updated his phone but im still waiting for my update.
one more thing, i did a total format of my phone a few weeks ago using the info on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578 using the corresponding firmware version PERSONAL ARGENTINA BIN_LG-E900hAT-00-V10a-722-34-JAN-28-2011+1
this maybe the reason for the update is still skipping me ????
if anyone have any more info on why the update is being doing on some phones and others don't please share it
many many thanks
Same situation with fw euro open that i flash instead of vod de. No update.
It's not a question of unlock because i tried to relock but nothing happen
I had my phone's operator set to the numerical one for unbranded recognition. As soon as I changed it back to Telus, it magically gave me the update in Zune. One thing other that what is stated above I noticed was the defaults in the Camera app have changed ... For example, Smart Scene is on by default.
Still waiting for the update

[Q] How do I remove Verizon my s5?

Hello everyone.
I'm a real noob to android.
I purchased someone's Verizon s5 earlier this week. Great phone. My carrier is Rogers and the phone seems to deal with it just fine. I get good speed with LTE. The phone came in a rooted state so I don't know what it is running now.
This is the info from the phone:
model: SM-G900V
Android 4.4.2
Baseband G900VVRU1ANCG
Kernel 3.4.0 [email protected]#1
Build KOT49H.G900VVRU1ANCG
SE for Android: ENforcing SEPF_SM-G900V_4.4.2-0011
Harware G900V.05
Security MDF v1.0 Release 2 VPN v1.4 Release 1
It don't see any Developer edition marks on it under the battery.
My questions
1. What ROM am I using? Stock?
2. Is there anyway of removing these Verizon apps etc that I can't or don't use?
3. I get an error from the 'setup wizard' when the phone starts 'sim not authorized' . I close the app and it goes away. Is there a way to fix this.
4. Is it ok to install the roms for the SM-G900W8 (including stock) onto this handset? What am I risking?
5. Is there a Rom designed for this handset that isn't verizoned and is meant to work with any sim? i'm interested in keeping the samsung fingerprint, pulse, messaging, phone, contacts, calander, camera. gallary, music player, clock. Most everything else I think I can download.
Thanks for your time and expertise in advance.

[Q] Weak Signal, Unstable reception, dropped calles

Hi All, nice to meet you all here. I came from Malaysia and i facing some problem with my N9005 - Samsung Note 3 LTE and hopefully can get some helps from here. It was actually a second hand phone but with perfect exterior condition, with Samsung warranty seal to prove that never been repair before or a recon phone. Below are the problem that i realize within this few days
1. Phone have signal, but sometime unable to call in or call out, especially on low battery status (50%-30%)
2. During a phone call, receiving party always unable to hear me, sometime they will hear some strange sound and dropped call, but from my side I can hear them very clearly
3. Always changing network mode. For example 4G to HSPA+ to HSPA to EDGE to No Service
4. When phone was inside a indoor room, very poor signal & unstable, internet speed also very slow or even unable to connect. But when I walk out from the room its become better
Remark:
1. Using Lollipop 5.0
2. Have changed a brand new Sim Card
3. Have tried to move my sim card to other phone, work perfectly
4. Have tried to use other sim card, but same problem remain

I don't need IMEI atm. Well the problem here is that the person who owned the device before you, flashed a Philippines (Globe) firmware on your device. You have weak signal, weird sound, etc for that reason.
Your phone is original unlocked of Malaysia (XME) but still without Lollipop firmware. You can check it: HERE.
* SOLUTION: All zones close yours (Philippines, Thailand, etc) still without Lollipop update. You will void your warranty if you downgrade your device to android 4.4.2. Here we go:
1. I recommend you flash the Slovakia (TMS) firmware via ODIN then coz it has the Lollipop update (like in pic attached). This won't void your warranty either.
2. Dial *#1234# when the process of flash finish and have to appear this. Reflash the same firmware if not:
AP: N9005XXUGBOD6
CP: ?
CSC: N9005TMSGBOE1
3. Wait latest firmware updates of Malaysia (XME) and flash them via ODIN for receive future OTA updates too.
Hi Joku1981, thanks so much for your reply. Since the phone was actually out of warranty period, so i tried to flash back with Malaysia (XME) version of 4.4.2 kitkat (PDA: N9005XXUGNI4, CSC: N9005OLBGNL1).
But unfortunately, the result still the same. Am i missed any important step?

leutzu, i has been tried to flash a few times with new firmware but it's still remain the same problem. I have also sent it to Samsung dealer for checking and they said probably on hardware problem. So end up to save up my time and cost, i decided to bought a new Note4 SM-N910C.
I end up sending it to Samsung, and they replaced motherboard, battery, and updated the soft.
Now it's working fine

thank you for clarifying, I was afraid of someone taking it too literal but failed to realized that, presumably, buying the software consequently requires our is otherwise packaged with the hardware and vice versa. At the time of the original post (3 months ago), for some reason that escapes me now, I had speculated that one could buy the software on its own and use another form of JTAG device. But based on your statement, I wouldve been greatly mistaken. On either car, thank you for your reply.

S4 Mainboard Died, Got a replacement from different provider. Changing providers?

Hello,
Backstory:
My S4 just decided one day to turn off. Since that time the only response I could get out of it was the initial splash screen, then it either powers off, or, it will cycle over and over again (I think this is called bootloader looping?). I've had the phone apart and I've run the phone off of a bench power supply in order to rule out the battery as an issue. I swapped out the charging board and that didn't help. I checked the function of the power switch and still, no love.
In an attempt to continue to use my phone while I save up for a replacement, I was able to get a main board from a friend. That main board, when installed, runs the phone perfectly. With one exception. It is set up for Verizon and I am on Sprint.
I've asked the Sprint folks if they could write their ROM into the phone, but they tell me they don't have the knowledge / tools to do this. My belief is that they don't _want_ to do this so they can sell me a new phone. So, I'm reaching out to the xda community to see if you can help.
I have some problems with following any of the DIY guides on this board:
- I don't have any of the setup / phone details from the original phone since it blanked out.
- I don't know exactly which phone hardware _version_ I have, so finding a ROM that would be 'stock' is a problem. And, I was lucky enough to get this board so I don't want to brick it.
- In the end, I would be happy to root this phone, but I realize that I first have to get it back into Sprint 'space' first.
Below are the device details from the main board that I have working in the phone right now.

Specific questions:
A) Can I even do what I am hoping is just a ROM flash to this main board to convert it to Sprint?
B) Please point me towards getting the proper identification information for my original phone.
C) Please point me toward the correct DIY procedures.
Thank you in advance for taking time to read this.
