Newest CWM Recovery doesn't work on T-mobile G2. Confirm? - G2 and Desire Z General

Couldn't start it from Rom Manager or hardware keys at start.
I have DZ HBoot which I think is the cause.
I went back to 3.0.2.0 which still works, can someone confirm this is because of the HBoot?

read the other threads or the CWM recovery thread in the dev section. Nearly everyones having some sort of problem with the 5.x.x.x version.

5.02.0 works on my dz. i havent done much lately as kernel.org is down so no cm flashing for me. but im sure id suffer the splash screen hang as previously encountered. 3.0.2.4 is the last stable recovery..

Give it time, stick to the latest 3.0 bla bla version, try and reboot to recovery enough times and you will get stuck at the htc screen on version 5.0.2.0
Hboot should not be an issue

everytime it hangs in the htc white screen just take the battery out and boot into bootloader and from there access recovery

cwm 5 doesn't work for me as well.
rolled back to 3
using the DZ A7275

cmw 5.0.2.0 can work good

Newest CWM has SLCD Support

FYI
I'm not sure if this is well known or not, but the lastest Clockwork recovery available in ROM Manager has SLCD support. I just decided to take a leap of faith and flash it in and it booted right into recovery, no letterbox looking screen!!
Just thought I'd share that! So for those of you who have been scared to flash it, go right ahead
I've Been On CWM On My SLCD For Almost A Month Now.. (Thats When I Got My Phone)
yeah you and everyone else.... but many of us have been using an older version, and according to multiple postings, CWM released a new version on the 26th (2.5.1.2) with SLCD support, because 2.5.0.0 and up never worked on SLCD - at least not for me.
I am using BAmod recovery. Is there a difference in using that and clockwork?

No, there isn't.
CWM Update caused me a world of hurt.
I noticed that there was an update to it when I went into RM last night.
I installed it and now I cant access recovery, when I try to boot my phone I get HTC Sense FC's to the point where the phone cannot be used.
So....
I cant access recovery to revert to a back up....Do I put "S-On" and flash an image of 2.2 RUU and start over or is there an easier way to rise from the ashes...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it v 3.0.0.2

[Q] Flashing Virtuous Unity ROM - stuck in Recovery...

Hello!
Even though my post count indicates that I'm a newbie, I am not! So don't rant and call me one and that I should read better or what not!
After having the Insertcoin ROM for a while, I decided flashing Virtuous Unity today, because it seems more stable and smooth. So I downloaded the latest (1.27), and followed the instructions. I used ROM Manager (never used that before, always flashed through CWM Recovery, but, what the heck, ROM Manager seemed faster and easier for this one).
Now, after flashing it thru ROM Manager, it rebooted into CWM. All looked fine until that point. (at least, I thought). I selected Reboot now in the CWM menu, and it rebooted into HTC logo. After a minute, it went back to Recovery! And, it keeps doing that! I've had a bootloop before, but not into Recovery??
I tried rebooting into HBOOT, even manual reboot in ADB. Nothing works! I also tried flashing again, but that also failed. The problem reoccurs. Then I read it might have something to do with 1.27 version.
So I downloaded 1.25, and pushed it thru ADB on the sdcard. But, now I cant find it anywhere when I select Install ZIP from SDcard in CWM.
I'm a little bit confused, so please help me heheh
Thanks!
I fixed it, sorry for the useless topic... May be deleted!
(I got me another SD card and tried the 1.25.)
I'm guessing the reason 1.27 didn't work is because you have the G2 hboot, and unity now requires all vision users to have the DZ hboot, instructions on how to change can be found here
Well, I doubt that, since I have an HTC Desire Z and not the G2..? So I should already have the DZ Hboot right?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Not necessarily, I had the G2 hboot on my DZ for about 6 months. And only changed when RMK posted his guide.
If you go in to the bootloader it will either say. 0.84.2000 (DZ) or 0.76.0000 (G2)
And don't use ROM manager, it may seem to make things quicker and easier but it never works as well as doing everything manually in CWM.
I will check which one I have... And for Rom manager, I never used it but on the virtuous site they recommended it so I thought it might work better... It didn't hahah
EDIT: well, it turns out i have the 0.76 version xD my bad! That explains tho!

You need the Desire Z hboot, you can find it by googling around, it doesn't matter if you have the G2 or DZ I the G2 with DZ hboot, and I'm running Virtuous 1.26.0

and what about 0.85.0005. Is it a "classic" hboot ? for DZ or G2 ? Thanks !

The reason you are stuck might be because you are using an old recovery.

perhaps he didnt wait long enough or something. the cwm version he used, is the best/stable one out there, so i doubt that would be the problem
dahunt3r, give us some more informations.
do u have the correct cwm partition for the rom? that would cause you to be stuck on htc screen

It might be stable but i read somewhere that certain roms wont boot using recovery below 3.2.0.5 so that cant be correct.4.0.1.4 is the latest and its also stable. But i havent seen any devs using that number recovery maybe 3.0.2.4 or 3.0.2.5 but not 3.0.0.5. just saying. if you are using an recovery than it would be perfect for a froyo rom but not gingerbread. just my opinion.

3.0.0.5 is the first one, which worked on HD2. It was supplied by RaiderX. I dont know how long your allready are on your android journey, maybe you didnt have the chance to know RaiderX and for cwm its not important if its ginger or froyo or whatever and this version works with every rom. But i am not here to tell people what version they should use or to start a fight which version is better

Clockworkmod recovery

Being as TWRP days are numbered and amon ra isn't really active any longer it looks like CWM is the last of the mohicans for the moment.... Does anyone know the lastest version or even better a download link for the PC36IMG.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
You probably won't get many responses other than you need to 'search' before you ask so I will say the same, Google and search is your friend but do yourself a favor and don't use CWM and use Amon Ra instead. Less headaches later.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339654
Thank you... I did search for about an hour however there seems to be no centralized location for it and no real way of finding the lastest version... The link you provided has a version 3 however Goo-inside.me has a version 5. I see CWM is not well regulated.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I would assume the best way if you truly want CWM is download Clockwork Rom Manger from the Market and install the recovery from there. That is what I usually did in order to get the newest version etc.
Yeah... Thanks again. I guess I'll be doing it that way... I really don't want CWM but that seems to be the last one standing for the moment. I like amon ra but its not getting updated so its days are numbered and TWRP is pretty much done for support ... TWRP 2 has some problem that has Kevin telling EVO owners to go back to TWRP 1 or some other recovery so that's not good.

Did you actually read the link that waterbound posted for you for Amon RA? That's the latest version, and is being actively developed.
If your problem is not knowing where to find the latest version, that's easy enough to solve.
Amon Ra doesn't need to get updated. It's fine as it is

Clockwork has a website too, don't have the link onhand but u can get to it thru the new no root tether that koush released the amon RA style recovery is currently being actively developed and has full capacitive function saving your volume and power hardware buttons alot of stress, I'm currently using v3.11 and it works great v3.10 had an error wiping sdext but versions 3.07 3.08 and 3.11 work great and its seems to be getting updates every week or so
Edit: twrp 2 has been oddly turning security back on in bootloader and bricking some evos when flashing a rom that's y it is recommended to go back to v1 unless you want to run the risk of having a fancy paperweight

Lol thanks noob couldn't remember if it was just clockworkmod and if the dot was .com or what I haven't used clockwork in a really looooooong time
Hey guys... What's your opinion of the advantage of Amon Ra over the others? I've used CW and TWRP and had 100% success with CW and problems with TWRP (gets stuck losing recovery console sometimes and failed recoveries).
Other than wearing out my mechanical buttons on the phone, CW is great.
So what's the deal with AR?

Touchscreen not working after aospx update!!!

Hey guys,
I updated my Desire HD to aospx BR7 but upon rebooting the touchscreen is not responding at all. I have tried rebooting the phone multiple times and have taken the battery out but its not working I have a nandroid backup for the BR6 but I have touch recovery so I cannot access that either. Is there a way to access that nandroid backup or flash a different rom without the recovery? I would really appreciate any help
Cheers
EDIT: I was able to use fastboot to flash the CWM recovery but upon restoring my aospx BR6 nandroid backup, the touchscreen is still not responsive. I tried a fresh install as well but its still not working. Any ideas?? Cheers
1:Reboot into bootloader
2:Connect your phone to your pc
3:select fastboot
4:run a RUU for your phone
See if this helps.

Thanks for the reply mate. I found this RUU ROM from the Desire hd development list....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
Is that ok to flash? Also the poster is giving instructions on flashing it through the recovery but how would I go about flashing it through fastboot? Like I know when flashing radio you just write fastboot flash radio radio.img. Are there multiple disc images that I have to flash?
Cheers
Go into fastboot and run this RUU from your computer:

Hmm =\ yes you can flash the recovery from fastboot. But this seems to be a hardware issue. It's not responding at all?

yea not responding at all mate. Yea might be hardware issue but the problem came up as soon as the ROM was flashed so I was thinking it might be like a touch driver or something. I tried flashing recovery but I get this

If i cant sort this out in the next week....I might as well send it for repair and hope that the service guys dont discover that the phone is rooted and I have voided the warranty. Appreciate your help Muikkuman :good:

Guess what....I tried a vodafone uk RUU...thinking that it might have the vodafone splashscreen at boot up so repair guys dont suspect anything weird. When i flashed it the touchscreen magically started working  Now in order to root, recovery and ENG S-off.....I know there is like the ace hack kit. While reading the instructions, it said that I shouldnt use the tool if I have S-off and i do. Should i bite the bullet and give it a shot?
Here is the info for the phone
Android version: 2.2
Software number: 1.32.405.3
baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.15_M3
In the bootloader it says: Ace pvt ship S-off

Nope.
Check if you have a recovery. If not just flash one. I believe, not sure, that the hack kit will give you those options in the event you don't have a recocery.

Check to see what are the other options for the hack kit. I can't remember if it has one if you are already s-off. But do not run it again since you are already rooted, if you do it will mess things up.
I'll try to do a search in a few hours on how to fix your issue, if I don't fall asleep first. I can't remember the solution off the top of my head.
