Touchscreen not working after aospx update!!! - Desire HD General

Hey guys,
I updated my Desire HD to aospx BR7 but upon rebooting the touchscreen is not responding at all. I have tried rebooting the phone multiple times and have taken the battery out but its not working I have a nandroid backup for the BR6 but I have touch recovery so I cannot access that either. Is there a way to access that nandroid backup or flash a different rom without the recovery? I would really appreciate any help
Cheers
EDIT: I was able to use fastboot to flash the CWM recovery but upon restoring my aospx BR6 nandroid backup, the touchscreen is still not responsive. I tried a fresh install as well but its still not working. Any ideas?? Cheers

1:Reboot into bootloader
2:Connect your phone to your pc
3:select fastboot
4:run a RUU for your phone
See if this helps.

Thanks for the reply mate. I found this RUU ROM from the Desire hd development list....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
Is that ok to flash? Also the poster is giving instructions on flashing it through the recovery but how would I go about flashing it through fastboot? Like I know when flashing radio you just write fastboot flash radio radio.img. Are there multiple disc images that I have to flash?
Cheers

Go into fastboot and run this RUU from your computer:

Thanks for the tip Muikuman. I was able to successfully go through the steps but the touchscreen is still not responsive. I have lost the CWM recovery as well which I expected (I can just flash recovery though fastboot again right?) Any other possible solutions?? cheers

Hmm =\ yes you can flash the recovery from fastboot. But this seems to be a hardware issue. It's not responding at all?

yea not responding at all mate. Yea might be hardware issue but the problem came up as soon as the ROM was flashed so I was thinking it might be like a touch driver or something. I tried flashing recovery but I get this
writing 'recovery'....FAILED <remote:not allowed>
If i cant sort this out in the next week....I might as well send it for repair and hope that the service guys dont discover that the phone is rooted and I have voided the warranty. Appreciate your help Muikkuman :good:

Guess what....I tried a vodafone uk RUU...thinking that it might have the vodafone splashscreen at boot up so repair guys dont suspect anything weird. When i flashed it the touchscreen magically started working  Now in order to root, recovery and ENG S-off.....I know there is like the ace hack kit. While reading the instructions, it said that I shouldnt use the tool if I have S-off and i do. Should i bite the bullet and give it a shot?
Here is the info for the phone

Nope.
Check if you have a recovery. If not just flash one. I believe, not sure, that the hack kit will give you those options in the event you don't have a recocery.

Check to see what are the other options for the hack kit. I can't remember if it has one if you are already s-off. But do not run it again since you are already rooted, if you do it will mess things up.
I'll try to do a search in a few hours on how to fix your issue, if I don't fall asleep first. I can't remember the solution off the top of my head.

[Q] A little bricked

Hi, well it looks like I may have messed up my phone real good this time.
I've had it rooted and oc’ed sense November with no problems. About a week ago I tried to undo it all to send it in for warranty replacement (bad speaker) and semi-bricked it.
Been trying too fix it myself for the last 8 days looks like I'm may need a hand.

When applying the PC10IMG.zip file, I got this error in step 4 system “fail-uz”

Now I still have S-off
It will boot to HTC splash screen and hangs there.
I’m not sure what kernel I have now. I think it went back to stock like the recovery (but not sure)
I’m back on stock recovery and when it boots it displays “E:Can’t open /cache/command”
When trying an update.zip I when get to the “verifying current system…” step and it displays “assert faild: apply-path_check(“/system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.odex” fallowd by three long strings of numbers and letters. And then “E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip”

There is a method in the CWMod thread in Development that has a PC10IMG.zip file just for the sole purpose of installing CWMod. By any chance did you try flashing CWMod that way?
you are getting (remote: not allowed) error because you don't have ENGINEERING HBOOT installed .i looked at the screen shots too and just before s-off it said SHIP rather than ENG so as a result of that unfortunately you cant use fastboot commands to flash anything from there.
I will try the cw img when I get home tonight thanks.

I am just confused and what to make sure I am following the right thread.
My Wife used Visionary r14 for some reason to permaroot her phone and it rebooted and is now stuck on the HTC Boot screen.
I go into Hboot and it shows S-on.
I do a factory reset to no avail.
From my understanding, there is still hope. Please what do I need to do to get her phone back working.
And attempting to flash back says that Main is older.
She is still stock with STOCK RECOVERY, everything.

I tried that but unfortunately it just scans the file and then goes back, no option to flash or anything.
I have been told that I would need a ROM that has a version higher than my current Post OTA version.
How do I proceed? Do you know any modified Shipped ROM that could accomplish this?
Thanks

Flash recovery?

Hi, I flashed rcmix hd and am really enjoying it at the moment, but if I wanted to go back to my stock rom I had, do I just restore my nandroid backup?? And then unroot and eng s-on?
Thank you ;-)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yep, should be as simple as that (restoring the backup will return the phone to the state it was in when the backup was taken).
Unless you're needing it fully back to stock for warranty purposes I'd be inclined to leave root and s-off so when you inevitably get sick of the stock ROM again you can flash another without having to bother re-doing all that, but that's just me
You will also have to replace CWM with the stock one.
An alternative would be flash RUU, s-on and unroot.
I didn't see post sorry, yeah I was thinking of going back to stock, but wondered whether I should use Vodafone branded ruu or use official HTC ruu??
If I flash official HTC ruu, will I debrand my phone? And if its debranded do I still get ota updates?
And after flashing HTC ruu, do I just do radio s-on and unroot? Or as u said just flash official ruu and leave root and radio s-on for another rom later on down the line?
Oh and you said I will need to replace cwm with stock one, so if I flashed HTC ruu, does that automatically replace it?
Thank you

ok thank you, i was gonna flash official ruu 1.32 but it is in exe. format, how would i do that?? because i thought it had to be a zip file, so you could install it through cwm????
Maybe it's meant to be used on the computer if it's an exe?
You will also probably have to connect the phone to the computer via usb.

The RUU is an all in one utility to flash official HTC ROMs, RUU = Rom Update Utility.
To flash one, ensure you have HTC Sync installed (for correct drivers), plug your handset in to your computer, double click the RUU.exe, follow the prompts. Easy as peas.

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP ANY USEFUL INFORMATION OR APPS FROM YOUR PHONE, BECAUSE YOUR ROM IS GOING TO BE WIPED.
First download the attachment. Remove the numbers from the name of the file so that it is renamed PC36IMG and place this on the root of your SD card. Power off the phone, then boot into your bootloader by holding the volume down and power buttons at the same time. Accept the update. If everything went OK, that should get rid of that Revolutionary at the top of your bootloader and flash the phone back to S-ON.
Next remove the file from your SD card by either rebooting your phone or going into your RECOVERY. I'm not going to give all the details for this.
Next, download this file.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VSFLE9CD
Rename it PC36IMG, place it on your SD card and follow the same steps as you did with the first PC36IMG file.
Let me know if that worked, because how to unroot the phone has seemed to be forgotten around here. Everyone is just happy to root.

That doesn't work completely for Gingerbread.
You can downgrade the ROM back to Froyo, but the S-ON tool will not work with the new bootloader, and the bootloader will not downgrade by running any of the PC36IMG Froyo files or RUUs if Revolutionary was used to turn S-OFF.
Assuming that you mean to unroot and regain S-OFF on an Evo 4G that was rooted using Revolutionary...
It seems that this has been worked out.

You need to flash an unrooted stock ROM to roll back your HBOOT to an upgradable version. I assume you used the modded 6.17 HBOOT to S-ON, but didn't flash a stock ROM to restore your HBOOT to stock?
Because the modded HBOOT is a higher version number than Revolutionary, most likely it believes you're already rooted.
I used RUU to update my phone to latest stock Rom and flashed the attachment on this thread

You essentially have two options:
- Run the RUU (ROM Update Utility) for the latest stock ROM on your PC
- Flash the latest stock ROM, in PC36IMG.zip format through FastBoot
Files for either/both of those can be found in my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17206283&postcount=5

Thanks for the link. After reading and trying to understand, I'm still unsure. I've worked with CWM before but I don't understand the S-OFF stuff?
I can't find a step-by-step tutorial
Well, boot into hboot and what does it say there? If it says s-off then all you'll need is to flash a recovery to flash roms.
S-on you'll need to root it using the hack kit.

Flashing a radio is risky operation that can render you device inoperable, so you have to provide md5sum to assure integrity of the file

That is not true. Md5sum should be disclosed to prenvent flashing a corrupted download.

Thank you for all the effort but this 26.14 radio file, including the flashing method, can be found from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295. Download link for it is still up (confirmed).
And yes, you should always include the MD5 sums.

THanks ill backup and then flash radio
Xeleth said:
Backing up your device (nandroid) will not actually back up your radio. In case you lose connectivity
and it's not about the RIL, you need to reflash the original one.
I'd recommend you don't flash this radio unless you have problems with device connectivity.

Ohh ok, thanks for the info btw.
Guys can anyone help me get the radio flashed on my Desire HD, the phone had a lot of problems and may have a hardware fault, but I want to flash the Radio, I had already flashed the ROM which fixed a lot, its on a as close to standard rom as possible its running 2.3.5 but the radio version is very very old and much older then another Desire HD I have that works perfectly.
I have done so many of the ways to do the flash of the Radio files but I have not got one of them to work, I also cant work out how to get Eng s-Off, I have S-Off already.
If i just download this file and put on sd in root nothing happens when I reboot into the hboot, I have also tried the fast flash and abt.
any advice

Ok so when I boot it and leave it it does flash up quickly wih green writing that says something like "wrong image"
I have a HTC Desire HD - and I downloaded the PD98IMG.zip for it, I have tried a few different once (ones off different sites that are the same thing).
With adb and all the other ones they don't work as Eng S-off is not on as they are windows based terminal ones and I cant get it off the onclick E-Off does not work (but it looks pretty old and probably does not work on 2.3.5.

Where did you get the PD98IMG.zip? Any file can be renamed to that, and most people do so that it's compatible with flashing from hboot, but that still doesn't tell me what the file is.

Huh? I believe you don't need Eng S-Off to flash radios, just S-Off. And what does windows based terminal have to do with anything? And does fastboot work?
Just used this image to restore my radio back to stock . This has fixed my gps because I had accidentally flashed a Inspire 4G Radio on a Desire HD. This file is not the flashable bootloader zip it is to be flashed in bootloader with adb.

You do need ENG-Soff (Engineer S-OFF) this is because the radio partition is not flashable due to restrictions with the Hboot.
Ok I have tried the radio file from this post, I have tried about 3 others from other posts all with the same version of Radio as the one of this file as its the ones working right on my other htc desire hd's.
As far as I have read you need Eng S-Off to do this remote of the device (as I mentioned Windows Terminal Screen that connects to the phone) wihout Eng S-Off you dont have the permission to do it from your PC.
So the .zip file on boot up is not working and I cant seem to get Eng S-Off either (I have tried a few guides but no luck so far).
Hi, is there a way to flash radio with S-ON? Thank you.

No. S-ON prevents you from doing that

You don't need ENG S-OFF to flash a radio but just S-OFF. the engineering hboot allows you to run flash commands in terminal but the important stuff is to have security partition off.

For any country?
Sorry for this question, noob here
My actual Radio (as I see it in the bootloader) is 12.10.04.03_M, for the numbers I'm not sure if this will be compatible and I don't want to screw up my phone.
Is safe for me to flash this radio? (yes, i'm S-OFF)

Okay so I got this desire HD today. Everything seems okay except 3g connectivity. When I switch network to Gsm only or Gsm/Wcdma, I get edge network. But when I switch to wcdma only, I loose network.
So my question is:
Could it be a radio problem??
Could flashing the radio fix this?
I have S off
And I live in an area with 3g coverage.(Because I used to have 3g coverage with my old My touch 4g).
