Bought a DX thinking I could sbf it to a Milestone X. It worked minus one big problem. I can't manually activate it and is stuck on the Verizon activation method. Is there anyway to bypass the activation step like you can with custom roms? I'd really like to get this to work since I can't seem to find anywhere to buy a Milestone X.

Hey guys,
I am looking to answer a few questions for a friend.
He has Alltel service and wants to purchase Alltel's version of the 6800.
Would he be able to buy the Sprint version, since both carriers are CDMA?
I have no clue about CDMA, I only use GSM carriers.
I see the prices of the Alltel verion are rediculous on eBay.
Thanks for the help
The Alltel version is pricier...I think because the Alltel cliental is not as nearly extensive as Sprint's. CDMA is a newer digital carrier service used only in the USA and Canada I think. GSM is older but used here and Europe.
As for carrier service, I would imagine there is away to get a Mogul to work on Alltel service since they are both CDMA and even Verizon is now allowing other CDMA carrier's phones on their network. I saw some posts about transferring phones with ESN, etc. Do a little more searching. You will find the answer.
Sprint Mogul on Alltel
You can use any version of the 6800 on Alltel... I've used both a Sprint Mogul and a Telus P4000 (Canadian) successfully. I still use the Telus P4000 as a backup to my Alltel 6800.
The easiest way to accomplish using another carrier's device is to use the hard SPL (bootloader) here on XDA-Developers and then you can load the Alltel ROM to whichever version of the device you have. That's exactly what I did to my P4000...
The only consideration to affecting this change is that Sprint uses MSL's (Master Subsidy Lock) on their phones. You'll need to know the MSL to update the PRL (Preferred Radio/Roaming List) because a non-Alltel device will not update OTA (Over The Air). Verizon and Alltel (verify Verizon for yourself, I'm only sure about Alltel) don't use MSL's, their MSL is always set to six zero's... so a Verizon 6800 is the easier switch as both Telus and Sprint use MSL's for their handsets.
Good luck...

How in the heII did you get them to accept your non-Alltel phones??? Do you have a friend at Alltel? I couldn't get them to activate my old Sprint 6700 on my wifes Alltel line for ANYTHING! I'll bet I called 25 times trying to get it done (sometimes if you just get the right CSM they'll do anything for you). I even talked to tech support and told them that I had flased the Alltel ROM to the phone so that it was essentially an Alltel phone.
You must be good...
How to activate another carriers phone
Call them and dont tell them its not an alltel phone simply state you have a 6700 or 6800 to activate and there will be no questions or issues activating the phones, of course you will need to have the rom already updated as they will try to get you to ota activate the phone or manually program and they wont know the msl code and if you mention anything about it, then they will know its not an alltel phone also you can download alltel's version of wm6 for the 6700 and 6800 at this site without any bootloader tool.

Its not really made for the 6700 but I have tested and worked fine on mutiple 6700s.

Thats really good to know. It seems reasonable that if they tell you something like they cant locate the phone in your system, tell them that that is impossible. The phone after all came in a alltel, has alltel logos on it etc. =) That chad guy from the commercial even came over and personally verified it.
Hey everyone, first post here. Ive recently fallen in love with my Titan/Mogul using my local nTelos network. There are a few drawbacks. I cant send or recieve mms or sms with attached photos. My GPS is not enabled/working. I dont know how to approach these problems because there is not alot of info for the nTelos subscribers.
What im looking for here is A) is there a provider whos fixes i could mirror? i.E. do Verizons fixes work on my network/phone. Or B) somebody to just lead me the righ way. I took a leap into the windows mobile world from a RAZR circa 2005, and i know i can do great things.
I've upgraded a old PALM 700wx on Ntelos before but have never tried a custom rom or radio on the 6800 because Ntelos has released a stock rom. Without a stock rom if the phone gets messed up there may be no recovery.
If you do try this make sure you use QPST to backup your settings. They MAY (upgrade at your own risk) allow you to re-apply all the ntelos settings after the update.
*There is a rumor that Ntelos is working an a Ntelos carrier update to the 6800 and 6900 because some of their larger business customers are asking for it.
My buddy and I flash his Droid x to metropcs. The problem is we can't send messages, make calls, or go on the web. We looked around and found that it needs to be activated but when we try and activated the lady tells us there is something up with the serial number. the imei is is fourteen digits long and she needs a fifteen digit imei. So what do we do does anybody know what to do. Please help us thank you.
Update: I check his metro phone and imei is 14 characters long so now I'm super confused.

Hey guys,
I live in Kissimmee FL and have Metro PCS with a Droid X that used to be flashed to Metro with everything working well with GB.. I wanted to test out some new ROMs and ended up swapped over to the Verizon Network and have done everything on this forum I can find and others to get it back working on Metro.
I am close, It seems like a prepaid PRL that I got but I tested over 6 PRLs and all of them say if you are on prepaid or would like to make a collect call.
I entered all the info in CDMA Workshop and im at a loss.
Anyone have a working SPF for Metro or a Rom that will work in my area?
Honestly, if you can help I dont even mind tossing you some $$ in paypal.. I really need to get my phone back up and running.
Thanks for your help and guidance.
did you tried the programming menu? *228 and activate it from there? I thought you needed to have your droid x ESN added to Metro inventory... am stuck at this point. When I call to activate using *228 it tells me that there was a problem and they need to redirect me to a tech/ I didnt have this problem with my droid milestone... it activated right from the activation screen.

It already was added into inventory, it used to work on Metro and with a ROM that I loaded it is back on Verizon. I followed the guides to get it back on metro and now it sounds like it might be on prepaid metro pcs.
Hello,
I have recently bought a Droid X from eBay and I tried to activate it on my Verizon account. It wasnt working so I called up Verizon and had a 2 hour conversation and they didnt know why the phone wasnt activating. When I would dial *228, it would give me an error message like "The number or code you have dialed is incorrect." So i googled it and it was a message that Sprint says. Is there any way i can get the phone to go BACK to Verizon?
Thanks, Nick.

any verizon phone theoretically is not compatible with Sprint's network. I would try researching a bit more then see what you find

It's probably a generic message. If you dial 611 or *611 it will most likely give you a message with a branded greeting ie Welcome to Sprint or Verizon Wireless.... If it says Verizon Wireless then there's your answer and read no further. Go ahead and do that now. I'll wait
Though if you don't mind doing a SBF back to stock, the Windows RSD Lite method overwrites the radio (including any previous flashes to other networks like MetroPCS or Cricket which do allow flashed phones on their network) and will return it to an out of the box Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid X (including any and all bloatware and Moto Blur that came preinstalled on the phone) and will wipe all settings.
If you do the SBF, there's a guide here:

Starts about half way down the OP and has all the info about the process and what it does. Hope this helps!
