What's new in this since last one?
I mean, 3.x always looked that way I guess for ages... Or if you mean "green colored market" app from early dates?

It's the new version with G+ integration and a few other features. Check out any android blog, all of them should have covered it extensively.

Wth - Americans already have this market?
UK is still on 2.3.6 (even now, only just found and heard about this new design)
Do we get nothing from google here in the UK?

Haha, mate, I'm from Turkey, we don't even have a market to buy anything (Just some free stuff --not even Market app itself prior to 2.3 I tell you) Thanks to "Market Enabler App" can make you fake your location for that. And yep, it has been around for sometime in USA I guess. Actually my phone auto-updates it even I uninstall updates for some reason.

Japanese handsets (and my unbranded ones from Philippines) got this pushed to them a few days ago.
Ugly as hell but has one VERY redeeming feature: supports multiple market accounts so if you entered the wrong one first when you first started you don't have to factory-reset to get your previously-purchased apps on the new phone.

Just delete cache and data from the market in app management and then open the market. It will update itself to the latest version.

Mine updated itself after doing that and opening it again, but it didn't happen instantly. I just signed in again, had the same 2.3.6 version and then got out. When opening it couple of hours later i had the latest version installed. I'm on stock rom KG2, no root.

Not exact a positive thing but all the new android market showed me was banding/left yellow tint on the S II's screen from the gray background as movie rental/books isn't available in canada.

My SGS II auto-updated to the new market , so did my friends DroidX2. So yeah, U.S is probably getting updates first, I think U.K is slowly following behind, but will speed up later. Meh... taken from Metro-UI style of WP7. Not fluid... Need to fix.

Well I got the 3.1.3 update last week. Then had some problems with the device and had to format it and now I've the OLD market again! Tried all that Clear Data and Cache stuff but it isn't installing anymore

I had a bit of a glitch with my SGS, which was running 2.2.1 official via kies (uk, unbranded release) As i had warranty, i sent it off to be checked, and had been gone for a few weeks now. When 2.3.3 was released and then pulled from kies, i had only just sent my phone away. Just got it back 10 mins ago, and what do you know........i now have 2.3.3.
kinda interesting since samsung pulled it from official sources before warranty even got hold of my phone. So i wonder how they are getting hold of 2.3.3 (unless they paid ol samfirmwares.com a visit) No issues so far though, going great

Some service centred had the 2.3.3 released before kies thats how XDA got the very first copy .

this is what i thought may have been the case. But if there was a genuine problem with 2.3.3, hence it getting pulled, i wonder why places kept it. In saying that, there are people out there that havent experienced a problem at all running 2.3.3. Just thought id share anyway
So if they pulled it then it could be some time before we see the update on kies.
I wish they would ever get a move on.
I don't want to root my phone.

Kies will get update after Samsung pass it to the phone providers and they customize as they want .

Why?
TW4 would be a valid reason to postpone the update a bit (plus bugfixes from 2.3.3 plus Google Talk voice chat implementation).

Sorry, but why would Samsung include TW4 in SGS when they have just released SGS2?
Anyway, if you want TW4, there are plenty of custom roms that have it.
Because they wont sell more sgs2's then sgs's, thats why..
Well, all should have realized by now that the stated "camera bug" can hardly be the reason that SGS users still have to wait for the update, it's been too long now. They simply realized that there are a lot bigger problems with it and listening to my friends that managed to get the 2.3.3 over KIES there is much room to doubt Samsungs official explanation.
If you're lucky they go for 2.3.4 (which you can only hope for because 2.3.3 has a nasty SSL library regression), but considering they released the S2 this week I don't think they care too much about the S1 for that to happen... only time will tell.

I dont understand the point of wasting money debranding it, your phone is still unlockeable from bootloader, and if we are based on the same terms, its likely that off any direct updates that factory unlocked phones will have.
A debranding on a carriers phone is only a makeup, but will not affect in any way SE updates or changes, because they are likely based on your IMEI
I just realized, I think that image is misleading I mean the HTC EVO and Droid 2 and even that cheap LG thing. I don't think they are getting icecream they don't even have android 2.3.

Of course it will
Remember defragmenting android and globalization tools, apps and games for any device!
All that to **** Apple Isucks
I'm a distrubutor and according to my sources in SE, they will update to ice cream - both neo, play and arc.
It's said that they won't do the silly mistake again in not having the newest os available to newer modells. (x10/mini/pro - 1.6)
in the OP picture, the Play was shown to illustrate the fact that there a variety of devices running different versions of android on different hardware, enforcing the necessity of one single version of the android API's to simplify development and reduce fragmentation.
There is no promise of ICS.

Bell Atrix 2.3.6 OTA is out

Apparently, Bell is rolling an update to 2.3.6 on the Canadian Atrix.
Source
Don't forget to follow this guide to capture the update and post it back in the thread for other people to mod/analyse.
Lots of people are complaining that they can't update, so it might take a while for the update to roll out to everyone. The Bell Motorola XT860 4G also got the 2.3.6 update today.

I don't know if the deal is still on, but BestBuy Canada used to offer 20% rebate if you brought 2 mobile accessory. With 3 mobile accessory, you get 30% off the whole order. I brought a car dock and a HD dock + a 1.95$ BB case that I threw out the window. Came out quite cheap ... Docks are not on the website anymore but they still have some in the mobile sections in stores.

For phones in which the bootloader is still locked, do you know if this patches the exploit used for root by Pete's Bionic root method?
from reading on one of the forums the official push should be tomorrow (December 14, 2011). So I'll be waiting for update

Thanks for the update info guys. I'm still rocking 2.2.2 because I'm not feeling the look of GB on the Atrix. Also and MUCH more important, because of the extra battery life reported with Froyo.
Now if the Atrix gets ICS, I'm probably gonna get a little weak in the knees and update ASAP...

To be honest, i'm more interested in the performance of the radio than anything else. Being a rom junkie, the stock updates vs high performance roms that frequently get updated are more attractive to myself. But the only way we get new radio's is with stock updates. SO....hows the radio performance? has anyone done any speed tests? Also i'm guessing it's too soon to judge the battery consumption with the new radio?
cheers!
Just got pushed to my phone. I'll be testing the battery performance today. I usually get a max of 12 hours a day, so any improvement is desirable.

Samsung UK Facebook "Still testing"

Well here is their update via Facebook re ICS
http://www.facebook.com/SamsungUK
They also tweeted-
" Samsung UK is working hard to bring Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to our Galaxy S II customers. We are unable to confirm exact dates as the software testing and approval process is subject to several variables, but we are working as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience."

Q1 eh?
I'm actually glad it isn't out yet and they are testing rigourously.
The official ICS in other countries are absolutely shocking. Its CRAP. Buggy can't believe they called it official and released it. ICS is simply not ready and if it takes them to actually say screw 4.0.3 and wait for 4.0.4 source then I'm fine waiting. Because ICS options on SGSII isn't anywhere near good enough. Last Gingerbread update blows it out of the water.
I'm happy waiting. Even until Q2. Tbh there isn't that much of an "upgrade" for us. Maybe a few features but can the SGSII get any faster?

Same here. I really hope it isn't the same build as all the others and they are sorting out the bugs.

Nothing, just minor bug fix, Androidpolice have posted changelog
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/02/22/download-latest-google-play-store-3-10-14/
Why post this? Not only is this an automatically updated app, but this release is very minor and has nothing worth mentioning in it :-/

Personally, I'd never install an update to the Play store from ANY source other than Google themselves. You just never know what someone might have done to it.

I completely agree with the principle although in this particular case Android Police mentioned
The APK, uploaded by XDA member ecs1984, is signed by Google and upgrades your existing Play Store. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the apk was not tampered with in any way and is therefore safe to install. Use this download if you'd rather have the latest version rather than having to wait for Google to randomly push it to your device. Download and install it just like any other APK.

I assume it's safe to get it from the links in Android Police's article at least.
Its all about risk assessment, without any obvious advantage why consider it.
How many times on this forum do I read problems people are having from "latest versions" Official or unofficial ......when actually the previous one worked just fine.
Always let the over eager people do the testing.

Exactly... i fully agreed on what had been said. I have problems after installing an unofficial google play app last month and i need to reflash the whole rom....
If it were ready for release, Google would push it out to us. As they aren't, I doubt it's ready.
I got it 2-3 days back.
I think phoenix rom might have embedded it.

I got it automatically from google a couple days ago...

I'm one of the people who do not really like Google updates, as I had some issues before with Youtube and GMail updates, so i decided as long as there is no error i'm facing with the version that i have, i would not consider new Google updates until i see a major change that i like.
Regarding the issues that I had with GMail and Youtube, they just did not work properly after an update that Google released many weeks ago, and nothing really worked even after restarting the phone and all the basic troubleshooting steps, no emails were coming or going and the youtube videos kept on loading till I uninstalled the updates, afterwards everything went back on track.
Working absolutely fine here!
