Hello,
I am finally looking to get rid of my HTC Desire and it seems the only option is Motorola Atrix. Because I simply refuse to get a 4.3 inch phone and the best phone at 4 inch seems to be the Atrix. I have read reviews, and it looks promising.
I just have one or two concerns and maybe people here can help.
- does it get really hot when using it heavily? (Desire also got hot)
- how long do you think it will stay a leading phone? It appeared in Febr and now it's Sept. SHould I just wait a few more months for something else? But it seems that everything that's coming out these days is 4.3 inch and I hate those.
- did the Gingerbread update really mess up the battery, as I think I read somewhere in the forum? One of Atrix's main advantages is the large capacity battery so this is important to me.
I really appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks!
Mine got hot before unlocking bootloader and updating rom. Now it rarely gets warm. It gets warmest when using webtop, charging and using emulators at the same time for me. And it still doesnt get as 'hot' before unlocking. I imagine a good undervolted kernel will help temps even more. Battery life is good. I think there are a few peeps out there with defective batteries and/or phones that claim nothing fixes terrible battery life.
I voided my warranty.
My housemate has a Desire, I play around with it all the time, and I think it gets WAYY hotter than the Atrix. Plus Atrix gets warm cos all the horse power from the processot, not the battery . The community support the Atrix prettt well, so it'll last long. Especially with the Google bought Motorola, it'll go a long way. Trust me

Motorola is not bought yet.
I voided my warranty.
Its worth the move, being on AT&T its a sham, clearly marketed as the Atrix 4G, is only capable of slightly improved 3G speeds, with AT&T rolling out their LTE network its unfortunate that our atrix lacks the LTE radio. I advise everyone who's an AT&T customer to write mean disgruntled e-mails regarding this. I written three so far soon i'll be demanding a new handset equivalent to my atrix that is equipped with the LTE radio. I bet they'll give me a full upgrade price too.
Back to the point. Yes the device gets a little warm, but I rarely ever slow it down, battery life is fine I believe the people having battery drain issues is their own fault. Im running stock 2.3.4 as my modded atrix decided to give me some touchscreen problems so I sent it back. The only time I experienced problems was using the HKTW rom from china. However recently I was testing a DROID x2 and it steadily was scoring more than my atrix. Almost a 300 point deficit stock vs stock.

Buying, sorry. We'll benefit from that sooner or later

My atrix gets hot when i play games or surf via 3g connection. I'm talking about 43-45c bat temp. Rest of time it works in normal temps.
How long it will stay difficult to predict, especially with a new bomb phone arising every week! But i trust that an overclockable dual core, 1gb ram, Tegra chipped phone will be able to take on everything you throw at it for quite a while from now.
Ginger did mess battery at first, but thanks to devs working doubleshifts battery life is now at its best, even better than stock froyo. So with moderate use you will be able to reach 2days, maybe even more.
4.3" are bulky, one reason i avoided them. No point in getting one, when my viewable screen is bigger due to the huge resolution.

thanks, everyone.
The network/4G won't be an issue for me. I am in Europe, Romania, and it will be a looooong time before we get 4G networks here. I will buy the phone network-free.
Thanks for your opinions, it all sounds encouraging. Bias aside, it does look like it's the best suited phone for me: top of the line and solid.

Well I have about 3 days left until I reach my 30 days with my inspire and I do like it but now with news of a possible bootloader crack for the atrix, should I return my inspire for the atrix? How do the cameras really compare? I did like the front facing camera on the atrix, but that was about it. They were sorta of the same when I played with them at the store. Inspire did have the bigger screen and was able to use custom roms which steered me towards it.
Has anyone returned their inspire for the atrix? Before any news of the bootloader being cracked, and didnt miss the custom roms etc?

I wouldn't count on an unlocked bootloader just yet. My wife has the Inspire and it's a fantastic phone, but the Atrix is a whole different animal.
I suspect that I highly modified Inspire would have the same day to day feel, maybe less, but there is NO comparing usuable battery life. The battery on the Atrix is the best of android phones I've owned to date and that's a lot of them.
The cameras are great, but I don't use them much.
The screen on the Inspire is bigger and easier to use as a result of the size. Colors seem just a tiny bit more "colorful" on the Inspire.
All in all, I bought both at the same time and gave the Inspire to my wife. That should let you know which one I prefered.
Can you elaborate on the whole different animal part? What kind of benchmarks are you getting? Battery life wasnt that bad on the inspire, but I wasnt aware the atrix's battery life was that much better.
The bootloader story was a hoax, it wasn't unlocked and probably never will be. I would stay away from all Motorola phones because they all have locked and encrypted bootloaders. Other than the original droid, you probably won't be able to flash custom roms on any of them.

Even with a 1.8 ghz oc on the inspire it still suffers from slowdowns because it needs to share cpu time where the atrix doesn't so there almost never any slowdown. I had the inspire for a week or so and the battery life on the atrix is way way better. As far a benches the atrix gets 2700 or so in quadrant on a single core, I think the inspire gets like 2100ish. I know you can get like 3500 on 1.8 oc but to get it your battery is destroyed. I don't feel like the inspire is a bad phone the atrix is just better and new, where the inspire is already 8 months old (desire hd). Just my .02.

It depends on how you will be using...personally i'm a fan of both phones, but the Atrix just has something special... the battery is VERY strong, it does have a much better capability for future possibly. Webtop will eventually be completely cracked and run a full ver. of linux (it has already begun), so if u want a small computer on the go, this will be great. This phone is more future proof (dual core, tegra, ram, webtop, etc.) The inspire may have a bigger screen but that comes with a price counting that the inspire has a smaller battery. If you are into camera, then maybe inspire...the atrix camera is pretty good for 5mp but it does come out a little tungsten (in defense, built in image editor).
In general there are a lot of variables, what you really have to look at is how will you use the phone and then weight what the benefits for those specifics.

Droid X/Droid 2/Milestone 2 have been out since last summer, Droid/Milestone since late 2009...latest thing was a hoax to screw with hopeless user base...good luck with that.
I had the inspire for roughly a week and couldn't deal with the terrible battery life and the speaker that put out minimal volume even at max. The atrix has been a great device regardless of custom roms. There are a few developers hooking us all up with great mods for this phone. I'll for sure be sticking with the atrix over the inspire.

I know you can root the atrix, but can you nandroid backup?
Can you install mods from CWM?
Also, once you root it do you get the option to install from unknown sources?
I'm about to exchange the inspire in an hour for the atrix, but of course with the locked bootloader being a big deterent. Then again, the inspire call quality isnt great for me, sometimes I couldnt even make a call when inside a store like sports authority, I have a bad signal issue. Speaker volume, etc. I definitely need the main phone function to work properly before I worry about custom roms.
Another thing I dont get is , why is it much easier to root an atrix with a one click root app but to root the inspire seemed a bit more tedious. The inspire being the unlocked phone and all.
I personally feel it will be cracked or leaked at some point. In the mean time there are devs that are working on methods to bypass the bootloader issue to allow for more customized roms. I don't remember the specific phones but there are a handful of them that have been overclocked whilst having a locked bootloader. The bootloader is a barrier to easy modding but with all the resources available, there are already plenty of fun/useful addons that you can put on your matrix.

I had two Inpires and I returned them both. The first one had a real poor speaker that was tinny and I could hardly hear the ringtones. I missed calls and text messages because of the speaker. The other issue was signal strength. I had no service in many places my wife's iPhone4 had two bars and made calls with no problem. The second Inspire had a better speaker but it was still very low. I installed my own ringtones that I edited with increased volume so I could hear them through the speaker. The rear facing speaker was a bad idea on htc's part. The second phone went back because again the signal strength. I got in trouble twice because my boss was calling me and I didn't get the calls because the Inspire had no service in an area I always had service in before. I finally had to forward the calls to my wife's iPhone and use it for work. I went back to my htc pure and sent the second Inspire back. I am hoping that the Atrix won't have the same signal issue. I have read of many people that actually got increased signal in places they had poor signal strength so I am hopeful.
I would go against trading the inspire for the Atrix. I'm sure if anyone reads most of my posts about the Atrix, it will start to get very long winded, very fast but honestly that's how I feel about the phone.
Foe clarification, I had owned the Atrix for about 13 days then took it back so I am very familiar with the device. I have only played with the Inspire for about 20 minutes total but I do have a good feel for it.
The inspire has a better screen and a better overall feel about it. The screen is larger and of good quality; although the resolution is higher on the Atrix you can root the inspire and get a density changing app from the market and make them virtually the same.
The Atrix was very fast but IMO, not that much faster than a Nexus 1 to justify the purchase; I would say everything g was a little smoother but if I just kept my applications in check the Nexus 1 kept up right along with the Atrix. Of course, bloated/heavy vs streamlined and clean software respectively was tthe rresult of this.

I went to the Atrix and so far so good. My calls are loud and clear and dont seem to miss any, and I can make them from anywhere. Still need to test different places out. As for the screen, for some reason I find the Atrix's screen to be sharper and I like the blues better for sure. The Atrix and screen feel more solid than the Inspire did to me. Inspire was feeling a bit flimsy when pushing on the screen, possible due to all its covers on the back. Using ADW launcher so its definitely smoother than the Inspire so far. I havent even tried a rom yet. Still reading up on that but I may soon. I just want a quick way to restore back to my prevois state.
Hello XDA family,
I used to be a regular on the Captivate forum before I moved to WP7. I'm getting a little bored with the newest from Microsoft, and was thinking about moving back to the Android side of life. I've been watching the development of the atrix for quite a while and now that it's been release, I figured I'd look into it.
So, I head back to XDA to get the low down and I see a lot of mixed opinions. I know the bootloader is locked, but like the DroidX, I figured it's only a matter of time before it's cracked, right? Either way, most reviews say that the phone is fine out of the box, and the OTA takes that even further. There is some talk about the mic being jacked on some handsets causing muffled sound, MotoBlur...etc...etc...
Is this phone worth the money? I used to swap roms all the time with the captivate, but that was mainly because it needed it. File system performance, GPS, chronic shut downs, poor battery life, all plagued that device and my man DesignGears and others did their damnedest to correct that. Does this phone have straight up broken features that require the roms at the moment?
Is the screen as bad as everyone says? I'm used to the 3GS, and my last two phones had SAMOLED screens (Captivate, Focus).
I guess, I just don't want to do the ATT phone return merry-go-round again like I did with the Capy (I went through 9)...

I'd say don't get your hopes up here. I don't think the bootloader will be defeated unless there's a leak from Moto or an official way to do it from Moto.
Other than that, as a potential Atrix owner I'm interested in the answers to all your questions, too!
I came from captivate to focus to Atrix. I have all 3 laying on my desk and just wait h sim card to whichever I want to use. I find myself carrying the Atrix over 90% of the time because it just works. Never have had any of the random issues people talk about on here. I own a construction company and use my phone hard. Email in the field all day, talk 5000-6000 minutes a month and the battery lasts all day. I use a bluetooth headset so I have never noticed the muffled mic issue, however the update we just got was suppossed to correct that. I would buy another one without hesitation. When the high speed upload is turned on it will pretty much be a perfect device for me. Front camera chat works with Tango app. Gps works out of the box. Good battery and no lag.
Hope this helps with your decision.
Jack

Ok, so Verizon is doing a hundred off all their 4G smart phones right now. Ive been waiting for a hew phone and this may be the time.
I currently have a D2. I originally looked at, and was ready to buy, the D4 for the keyboard, but the screen was terrible when compared to the other phones and I've honestly been using the keyboad on my D2 less and less.
I've also looked at the Galaxy Nexus, I've tried to like it but I just can. I was very dissapointed by the hardware when it was announced first off and secondly it just doesn't feel like a very well built phone. It feels cheap and plasticky. Ive seen way too many threads about signal issues too. Having a phone you can do anything to doesn't matter if it doesn't work. Also its the most expensive, by a hundred dollars.
I've looked at the Razr and love the screen and speed of the phone. Its got the Moto build quality, Gorilla Glass, kevlar, aluminium etc etc all the other stuff they say it has. Its very light and thin, too much so I think. Also its a bit wide and Im not sure I like the way it feels in the hand. I like the size of the Maxx better actually, but the hundred extra they charge for whats just a bigger battery is a bit asinine. Also its a moto and that means locked down tight. Sure there will be some ROMs for it but not to then extent you have with the Nexus or HTC. I'm kinda used to it coning from the D2 but sometimes it would be nice to have more variety and support. Even though it looks like someone may have figured a way to bypass the bootloader, but who knows how long it'll take to filter to CDMA phones. I also don't know if that would increase support a ton.
I've looked at the Rezound and in my hand that feels the best to me. Its got an unlocked bootloader now so support is going and it should increase. I like the screen. I could really care less about beats, but Its cool it comes with a halfway decent set of headphones I guess. Things that worry me is the build quality, but I think its probably fine and battery life. I've also heard that the call quality is not the best.
So it seems the prices are running 99 for the Razr and Rezound and 199 for the Nexus. I'm leaning towards the Rezound right now, as long as battery life or call quality isn't awful.
Anyone have any opinion or suggestions Id appreciate it? Thanks
if I had to choose right now, I would go with the Galaxy Nexus since it's a plain Google phone with no fluff and built for ICS from the start instead of Gingerbread build and upgrade to ICS (at some point).
I wouldn't trade my VZW Incredible 2 for anything....Yeah, it's a year old or so, but still one of the best phones built. Slap a case on it and it's nearly indestructible, and I've never had a single issue with the stock ROM.
except I'm on T-mobile now so I'm getting an Amaze

Ok, but there are ICS builds for the Rezound, obviously not official ones, so I should be able to use one of them and get the ICS experience on that as well right?
Is there anything that can be or has been done in the dev community to address the battery life and signal issues that Nexus is having?
All I can say is "I love my Nexus". Signal is fine for me. Battery life as well. The determining factor for battery life is really screen time. I can currently get a solid 4 hours screen on time using the stock battery. If I'm not using the screen as much I can get 15 hours easy , although I'm still playing with different kennel settings etc. Using Franco kernel and rooted 4.0.4 ROM at the moment.

Obviously the Nexus is a hundred dollars more then the Rezound at this point. You may not be having signal issues, but a lot of people are. Now the question is is it hardware or software. Software can be fixed and Id be fine dealing with that until it was taken care of. Im going to take it on faith that its software and let just say itll be fixed eventually.
How much can different kernals effect signal and battery life? Im thinking it can be quite a bit.
Does anyone have a battery life comparison of the Nexus to the Rezound? I just need to know if theyre comparable.
Also you can now swap kernals on the Rezound too. Sure it will never have the dev support the Nexus has, but it should have a good bit right?
I just want to know if I do decide on the Nexus that Im actually getting a hundred dollars more phones worth.
One of the things that does make the Nexus attractive though is resale. It will always go for more then most phones just of because of what it is. Once the next big HTC drops the Rezound will take a hit in the resale market.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Having had all Verizon's phones I'm happiest with my nexus razr looked and felt the best but Motorola killed it with blur for me. The rezound gets uncomfortably hott trust me I went thru 3. The hardware is not bad at all on the nexus don't go off of a spec sheet you honestly can't tell the difference. Ics is top notch pure Google experience works this time

I am now out of contract and thinking about moving to Verizon (for the LTE network) and the GS3.
But I'm actually pretty happy with my Evo, with roms like CM9 and MIUI its a totally new phone. So if someone has used both the phones, I'd like a little feedback about the GS3-
does it feel much faster than the Evo?
how does signal strength, gps compare to the Evo? I saw this thread - http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/443782, which doesn't give me hope for the Samsung radios
is battery life better? Currently I can get 2 days with light use on MIUI
Basically, its get the GS3 now or wait for the next Nexus phone in Dec which will have JellyBean.
I have never had the pleasure of using a GS3, but overclocking Team D.I.R.T's Remics ROM, which is based on the GS3, is a very nice substitute.

The speed difference is pretty big in my opinion. Coming from the evo, things like scrolling and going in/out of apps is a big difference. Scrolling in the browser is so nice after using the evo. I'm still holing strong with my evo too, my roommate just picked one up though and its a great choice. The galaxy nexus with JB is a good option as well. Just through a JB rom on and your good to go. I know its not exactly what you wanted but just thought I would share......
MEZOCLONE
Due to poor battery life I never used my EVO for much more than phone, email, and texts.
My S3 battery is much much better, the phone is quicker, etc etc. Having said that touchwiz takes some getting used to, the Samsung keyboard sucks(using Swype beta now). If you enjoy running alternative ROMs then start on your EVO for now. If you enjoy having new fast hardware then pick up an S3 or oneX.

Do you have a G S III? The S III has comparable battery life and just a smidgen better than the LTE. Despite the polycarbonate body, the build quality is there. The device is smooth, solid in hand, and doesn't feel flimsy. In addition to not having an aluminum backing, it'll be less prone to signal issue, unlike I have seen with the LTE.
You cant even compare the two. Its like comparing a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado with a 2010 Nissan GT-R
All silly comparisons aside yes its WAYWAY faster GPS locks in fast and works great, and the battery is way better then my evo. I use both every day.
Evo=work
GS3=personal
Don't get me wrong, I loved my evo. I have had mine since Google IO when they gave them to us free. But come on the GS3 is current technology.

apples and oranges. my co worker has a GSII running cm9 and its stupid fast compared to my evo i can only imagine the gsiii is even better.
Picked my gs3 up today. There really is no comparison in terms of speed. Touchwiz blows hard, so I loaded up nova launcher right away.

I played around with my friends GS3 today and it is ridiculously fast and smooth. I tried overloading it with apps running in the background and it would not slow down. I will definitely pick one up for myself eventually.
I own both — just traded up
I actually on both phones. Contract on my EVO 4G just expired, and I decided to quit Sprint because the coverage just wasn't there in my neck of the woods. So I got a GS III with AT&T, and hated it for two days because it was giving me constant, nasty Wi-Fi dropouts. Then AT&T pushed out an update — which some people are avoiding because it nukes unified search, for legal reasons — but what's not getting much press is that it also solves a lot of connectivity issues. I suspect those issues were created by some kind of power saving attempt. In any case, I have LOVED the GS III ever since that update.
Unlike some other users on this thread, I really don't think that it "blows away" the EVO. But it's way faster and the screen is quite amazing. And it sounds like you're really tempted (just like I was). So let me just share my own feelings:
I'M SO GLAD I GOT THE GSIII! The Evo is still a way cool device, don't get me wrong. But the GSIII is the new world champ, and there's just no denying it. So go ahead do what you are longing to do anyhow, and nab it!
P.S. I've kept my Evo, by the way, even though it has no phone reception, and I joined xdadevelopers so I could learn how to root it and install CM9 like you did. So let me ask YOU — what thread or post should I go to first?
Check out hipkat's guide to the evo. It is in the stickies. Check out the smelkus amon ra recovery and if you go with cm9 you will want to partition your sd card with an ext4 partition. Do lots and lots of reading before you jump into all of this of course. Have fun!

I'd have to disagree about the Evo LTE being "far away better" than the GS3. My sister has one, and as much as I love the screen (it really is as good as they say), I prefer the way the GS3 feels in my hand (except that it feels a little more fragile), and the extra gig of RAM will make a huge difference when I flash MIUI on it. The camera seems to be about the same quality judging by reviews, so that's a wash. The kickstand would be nice, but even when I wanted to use it on my OG Evo, I was barely ever in a place to set my phone down. Speed-wise, I have yet to see either phone stutter or lag (except that the XDA Premium app lags on the GS3 when scrolling through threads; seems to be a problem with cached/caching images, but I never had a lag problem on my OG Evo), and they use the same SoC, so they should be about equal anyway. As for UI, I'm going to put MIUI on my S3 ASAP and would have done the same with the Evo LTE, so that doesn't matter either. Things I like better about the Evo LTE are the capacitive buttons and lack of a menu button. Not a fan of the S3's home button, especially the fact that it wakes the phone.
As for comparisons to the OG Evo, it's a different experience altogether (crazy to say since they're both Android phones), not only because of the new hardware, but also because of TouchWiz. I could compare them feature-for-feature, but we all know the S3 will win or at least tie for every spec (except HDMI, I think; a proprietary MHL adapter complicates things, but since MHL is standard now, micro-HDMI cables are harder to find and expensive). The things that impress me the most about the S3 are the speed (obviously) and the battery life. 6 hours of screen on time is normal with the S3. My Evo died around the 2.5 hour mark. It makes a huge difference.
This is off topic, but I was curious exactly how long the Evo's battery might last with no use at all, so when I got my S3, I gave my Evo one last charge and set it aside. I turned on airplane mode after a couple hours but left Wifi on (more out of habit than part of the test), then turned Wifi off after another hour or so (when I remembered it was on and draining the battery), and it's been in complete airplane mode ever since. Well, it's been 9 days and 16 hours since I took it off the charger, and I still have 50% battery left. I honestly didn't think the li'l ol' Evo had it in him, even if it is just sitting idle. I'm pleasantly surprised, but I can't help but wish the battery lasted at least a tenth as long when using the phone as it's lasting now.
I was going to switch to Verizon since I'd rather have LTE speeds for the same price, but the locked boot loader is making me think twice.
gs3 kicks real arse, how can i compare them. evo is outdated afaik.

Im confused between samsung Galaxy I9100 and Motorola Atrix 4G
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3709&idPhone2=3621
I dont care about screen size or performance as both is dual-core or battery
All i care is the Solid Build cause i considered to be a bad user and its very likely to drop the phone and i want a phone can handle a bad Handler
I already have Motorola Defy but i want a better performance and a phone equiped with 1GB ram and dual-core cpu

I'm not sure about the S2 (as I never had one), but the Atrix seems to me a little weak. Both my Moto Droid 1 and 2 suffered pretty bad (dropped both several times, carried them in the same pocket as keys...) and, after more than one year of constant use, they both have no scratches on the screen.
My Atrix, on the other hand, got 2 scratches on the screen in the very first week I had it, didn't fall or anything. After this I searched the web looking for some reviews and saw some impact tests on youtube, even little drops made the phones' screen crash completely (or, at least, the glass)
no nividia driver... dont buy... S2 more resources.

I would go for the s2.
The atrix is pretty tough, mine has survived a few big drops without any damage.

Dont even think about it: Go for the Galaxy SII.
Both phones are ok, but the Atrix has Nvidia Tegra 2 Soc. Nvidia is the worst company in the world, no drivers for ICS, no updates, no customer satisfaction, nada.

Totally agreed!
If I have a chance to go back the past, I would have bought the S2.
Go for s2

The Atrix is a good phone, but its outdated now (Now it has two successors, The Artix 2 and Atrix HD). Even with its Duel core Tegra 2, its stock is Gingerbread, so unless your willing to root and flash newer android versions, that feature is useless. I know both of thse points apply to the S II, so I would recommend getting a newer phone that's not those two if you like to stay on the cutting edge.
However if you are limited in your phone choice or are for some reason die hard on getting these two phones I would say give the S II a try given its popularly and its moderately better features I see in the link you provided without any other research. (Bluetooth 3 vs. 2.1, a better camera, 1GHz vs. 1.2 GHz, among other things). But here's a few of the pros and cons I have had with my Atrix:
Pros:
- Durable, has taken a few good falls of 4 ft.+ (With a case of course.)
- Good sound quality on speaker and bright LEDs.
- Webtop is fun if you are a linux fan, which is why I keep a backup of stock so I can play with it once in a while (I run Jelly Bean)
Cons:
- Warms up on longish data usage (1 min+)
- My first Atrix's screen blacked out the night I got it.
- Wifi and Network reception is noticeably worse compared to other devices I have around.
The SGS2 is superior at the moment only because it has ICS. Once ICS comes out for the Atrix in the next couple of months, the Atrix is superior IMO. The Atrix will get JB with or without Motorola's help. We can't be sure either will get KLP. So, I'd go with the Atrix.
If you're on a budget, Atrix is much more repairable as no Glue was used. So, broken screens, headphone jacks etc are an easy DIY compared to the SG2. But, the Samsung has much better dev support. Battery life is also significantly better on the Atrix.
The biggest advantage is that you can get a cheap lapdock for under a 100$ & Atrix is cheaper to buy. For about fifty more you get a phone and a pad...
At the end of the day, it depends which features are more important for you, both are a good buy.

y if u are buying used one then go for galaxy s2 unless u dont have enough money then go for atrix there both great phones( i also like atrix 2 but bad camera and no unlocked bootloader) if u do drop ur phone i would get atrix. cause u wouldnt wanna be dropping expensive phone but i suggest galaxy s3 if u getting it new from at&t
I currently have both phones, and use the the atrix as a daily driver, but prefer the S2.
Wow guyz , You all made me use all my 8 Thanks limitation ,but honestly you all are a great and a respective XDA members
Thank you thank ypu thank you
I'm now fully convinced for SGS2 especially when the recommendations comes from atrix users
High appreciation and i feel grateful for all advises and opinions :good:
Never buy Motorola.

I currently own both phones. I use both each week, with the I9100 slightly more.
It's tough to say which one is better, since i9100 has a stable CM9 and the Atrix CM9 doesn't have all the drivers yet.
If you had to make a decision "today" I'd say get the i9100 since the screen is better (not in resolution but in looks) and it has the CM9 with CM10 gaining ground.
If you can wait, then wait this quarter and check out the CM9/10 Atrix reviews. The Atrix call quality IMO is better, and many can't live without the fingerprint reader.
Either way BOTH phones are a solid buy, and you really can't lose with either phone IMHO...

Back when I was due for an upgrade on AT&T I had this same decision to make. A friend of mine kept telling me how great the Atrix was but I hadn't ever seen one up close. Another friend of mine had the SII and I thought it was pretty cool but the battery life was horrid. After doing a lot of research (mainly sifting through phonearena) I decided to get the Atrix. After rooting and deblurring my phone with a cm7 ROM to match the cm7 on my friends SII, we did a lot of comparing. My Atrix benched higher in just about every aspect even on a 1GHz kernel and my battery life was better by far. After bumping up to 1.2GHz it was just overkill. I am more than satisfied with my Atrix. I'd say look for someone with both phones and look at them both.

The Atrix hardware has been pretty rock-solid for me. It is outdated by better phones now, but if you can pick one up for cheap, I say go for it. It is turning into a pretty sweet hacker phone, with good xda support.
I have a atrix 4g n defy... Defy is low end but a very good mobile with stable cm9 n cm10 roms... atrix 4g to be honest is a problem... but good hardware.... i will go for droid maxx next...
