Atrix Repair Runaround - Atrix 4G General

Alright guys, I thought I'd share my my experience with Motorola's repair department. The reasons I sent my phone in were because the screen had some areas that had backlight bleeding and the MicroSD card reader didn't work.
When I first called, I was told by AT&T and Motorola customer representatives that once the phone was received by them, it would be shipped back out in two business days. Alright I happily agreed to that and opened an RMA because I needed my phone back as soon as possible. So it was opened and I sent my phone in.
The device was then received on the 4th.
I called in on the 7th to ask if it was shipped, and they said it would actually take 15 business days to ship! I was like what?! I was told two days by the other two representatives. I was then told to call back on a weekday as the repair department was closed.
I called again on the tenth to see the status of the repair and they said it should be shipped 5-7 business days from when the device was received. But I still couldn't talk to the repair department because I had called after they had closed.
I called in the next day, and they said that it would be shipped on the twelth, which was the day after.
I then called in on the 12th to make sure it was shipped, the representative said that the device should have shipped but the online repair status just hadn't updated yet and it should be updated by tonight.
I check today to see if the status has been updated, and guess what, no change, all it says is device received. So I call to make sure the device has shipped. Now I talk to a representative that says that it will actually be shipped on the 16th and he has no idea why the other three representatives said it would be shipped on the 12th. I ask to speak to a supervisor and I get transferred. I asked her why I've been given tons of different (and seemingly wrong) information by different representatives and what is really happening. I tell them that this is getting ridiculous and I have had to reschedule two train tickets and I've lost over $90 dollars because of false information I have received. The supervisor literally is speechless, all she says is please call back Monday.
What I'm wondering is that has anyone else had this kind of experience with Motorola? Or is it just bad luck on my end. And if this continues, is there anything I can do.

Wow that sounds pretty bad. How come you didn't just take the phone in to an AT&T store? My previous Atrix had a dead spot on the touchscreen so I took it back to the AT&T store. They looked at it and called an AT&T repair center so I can pick up a new Atrix that very same day. Sorry to hear about your situation, hope it gets sorted soon.

I forgot to mention I actually did go to an AT&T store. They were the ones that suggested calling AT&T and Motorola and the first ones to say that it would be shipped out two days after it was received. I had the option of going to an AT&T repair center but the closest one was an hour away so I decided to do it by sending it in.

I know AT&T used to offer warranty swaps by overnight shipment, which ususally meant getting an advanced exchange in one or two days. This was on HTC TP2s and similar phones but I think they still offer the same service if you complain about going to an exchange center.

I had the same problem with AT&T when I was on the Inspire...I pitched a big enough fit and had the retention people upgrade me to the Atrix. Best thing I can tell ya to do from my own experience would be to call the main customer care number and raise hell about the time and money you have lost...Have them.credit your account for the service and such ...it's not much but it does help a little bit.

Hm... I'm gonna give that a try, thanks.

I've had devices swapped out, and all I did was call the main AT& T tech support number. This was on several Captivates and once on my wife's Inspire, although we found out after the Inspire didn't need it (unknown sources update problems).
In all cases I was offered an overnight shipping option at a small fee. I opted out, and in all cases my replacement was here within 3 days. Swap info, send old one back, done.

I'm really sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I actually had a similar problem with my phone regarding the screen burn image and went to the device support center. They were out of stock for a replacement Atrix but the associate placed an order for an overnight shipment. I was in possession of two phones at one time and had to agree to ship the defective one out within 14 days before facing a charge of $399. Anyway, I really appreciated the fact that I was never without a phone and the phone came in the next day and I shipped out my defective unit the day after.
They probably need to retrain the customer support reps to know the proper course of action for certain situations such as out of stock or too far of a location so that you are offered overnight shipping of a replacement.
One more question for the OP: were you expecting to get your same unit back? You said it was sent in for repair service so I'm wondering why you agreed to that instead of just swapping it out since you are still covered under the 1 year warranty.

Sending it in for repair was my only option. They told me if I went to the place an hour away I would have to drop my unit off and pick it up two days later.
EDIT: So I thought that it would be easier to just send it in instead of having to drive that far.

Wow. So even at the physical place that was an hour away, they couldn't just swap it out? That is so strange. We are talking about an official AT&T Device Support Center, right?

Yep, at least thats what the guy at the store told me.

So what are they currently doing to assist you? Are you just forced to be without a phone? I would seriously place a complaint with the BBB and with AT&T customer service. Not sure if it will help much but just to document the case at least.

That was actually something I was thinking about doing. Also I did go to the BBB site but Motorola wasn't on the list, should I put it down with AT&T?
EDIT: Oh and nothing to assist me, AT&T and Motorola said I should be able to get a temporary phone while this repair was going on but I was completely denied.

Alright I just called AT&T and they actually gave me a 65 dollar credit, which is half of my bill. THANK YOU very much for that bit of advice. Also They also said that I should call back tomorrow when the warranty center is open and they should be able to help escalate this issue further. As for the BBB complaint, if AT&T helps me out even further then I'll let it go but otherwise I'll file a complaint.

I sent my atrix to motorola also for repair got it back in 3 days unrepaired so i called them and said the water mark is still white she when on to say it could be caused by humidity i freaked and said so all the atrixs that are in texas right now are going to be void because texas has had triple digit reading for well over a month she was dumb founded and said let me escalate this higher sent me an overnight label and they have now had it for 9 days so who knows if it gets fixed this time they have the worst rating in customer service and repair...This will be my last Motorola phone

Sorry for your bad luck. Generally moto makes good hardware. All companies have lemons. What is sad is moto falls under the list of companies with general bad repair service. The only company i know of that has pretty good service overall is htc, but that might change since they're going to be more strict on warranty because of bootloaders.
I voided my warranty.

Well I got my phone back, just a heads up, like I said in the OP, they said it would be shipped on the 16th, however when I called in then, they said it would not be shipped that week at all because they had NO atrix's at all, new or refurb, and they were waiting on parts. I then filed a complaint with the BBB and informed motorola of the complaint. Guess what within an hour I got a second call saying the phone had shipped (this was at 8PM) and tomorrow morning a new phone was sitting on my doorstep. So if you guys are having major issues like me, just file a complaint with the BBB and motorola should comply.

Ok thanks for the heads up if nothing happens by tomarrow thats just what i will do

Well... I just found another issue.... No computer is able to recognize the phone. I've tried three different computers and I've tried installing the proper drivers and still, all I get is the "USB Device Not Recognized" error on all three. Time to call them back...

probably is driver. reboot phone and computer.

My email to HTC about dust under my screen etc..

Hi, I had my Nexus One for about 4 weeks when I discovered dust under the screen. I rang the service centre who said because my phone was over 2 weeks old I couldn’t have a replacement only a repair. I sent it in for repair and it came back a week later.
I checked the phone over and it looked fine. Then 3 days later I noticed that the dust had come back again. Naturally I was very unhappy as the repair was obviously not carried out correctly or there was a fault with phone.
I then contacted the service department again to tell them I was very unhappy with the repair and what could I do to escalate the issue. I was told by Lee after he had spoken to an escalations manager that I could have a doorstep exchange. That was supposed to happen on the Wednesday.
I waited in all day for the replacement and it never arrived. I rang the service department again to ask where my phone was and was told that a doorstep exchange was not available in the UK and should not have been promised to me. They said that I had to send the phone in again for repair. I explained to them that I was not happy with the service I was getting and that I wanted to take it further. All they could offer was to have the phone looked at again and see if they could replace it.
So I sent it in again for repair and after they had had it for 4 days I rang to see what was happening as I had heard nothing. I was told that I could have a brand new replacement phone and I would receive it Friday. It came Friday and I was happier now I had a phone without dust under the screen. That was until I used it when the lighting in the room was low. I then noticed that the soft key lights were not illuminating. I really could not believe this from a supposedly brand new phone.
So yet again I rang the service department explained my problem to Sebastian and he said that the service I had received was not good enough and he would pass it onto his escalations manager and that he would ring me Monday morning which is today. He didn’t ring Dominic did and said that my phone would have to go for repair again.
At this stage I am now that fed up with the whole thing I could not be bothered arguing anymore, as over the weekend the phone had got dust under the screen just like my last one had. So today I am sending my phone in again. It also means that the service centre has had the phone longer in their possession than I have had since owning it.
I like the phone just not the quality of the build of it and also the outcome of service from the service centre.
I would like someone to contact me and explain why I have had so many problems and also insurance that I will have a working phone eventually.

haha agreed... i had to follow along with a finger..
in any note.. my debacle is this... had everyone gotten the N1 for say the upgrade price of 179, would there be as much commotion over things. I think part of the unhappiness comes from spending so much on such a fine piece of tech. Dont get me wrong i agree with the OP 100% and would be just as ticked off, but I think that there comes a time when it is fine to say, screw this, just tell me what I need to do in order to make you guys work for my benefit.
let us know how the situation pans out.
you are not the only one here... i got dust, and sent to be replaced. then, the same one came back.. whats worse, the phone rattled. so, i sent it back for refund. heard nothing from them during the following 10 days after the delivery was made. i called back. they told me the phone was lost. FTW. the only solution they have now is ESCALATION...
Still waiting..
Hope you get a resolution soon.
Just out of info where are you returning the phone to? Are the service centres in the UK?
Sorry it was paragraphed in my original email. Had to copy and paste into note pad and forget to check it before posting.
I really only posted to see if anyone else had as many issues as i did.
Yes i could very nearly have typed it all in CAPITAL LETTERS!!! I was mad..

I'd be disputing the purchase charge with my card issuer if I were you!
I had a similar issue. i tried purchasing aNexus with my Paypal Card but since it was over $500, it was declined by paypal since i had some limitations!
then i used my bank accounts debit card and tried to purchase the phone again, the shopping cart showed me 1 Nexus one phone. very good, i went through with the purchase and a few hours later i receive an automatic email stating the first purchase has been re initiated since the card was changed.
So now i had purchased 2 phone after various emails and complains, the only solution they told me was to send one of them back without opening it. and so i did. a max of 14 days was expected for the refund.
i called Several times in between those days ad said the payment should be coming soon, 16 days passed and nothing so i called again and sent google and email and i received a refund of $521 and not the $560 i paid. i emailed google and told them that the item was never opened and they told me i would get charged for restocking fees either and that it was never my fault to have purchased 2 phones rather than one.........
2 weeks later i receive the remaining refund of $40. a total of 1 month to get everything settled and i AM NOT RICH TO HAVE $600 taken for that long of a time.....
Not to mention, the other phone which i kept had the dust issue too, sent it back and received a brand new one cuz it was under the 14 days. but it had the same dust issue too. i just decided to keep it and every once in a while i get a piece of computer paper or note cards and clean it with it! Oh god im hearing some stories now ive posted this!
I have another story regarding the buying of it which is also a nightmare

HTC said they would fix it but didn't

Because my Nexus one had a dead/stuck pixel, I called H.T.C. and requested a repair. I sent it to them, and a few days later they said that they had examined it and determined that I needed to pay for the repair. I asked them why, and they replied that it was scratched and cracked.
Well, when I sent it to them, I had an invisible shield (a full body one, mind you) on it, and there nary a blemish on the screen. I told them this, and after a few days (and a couple more telephone calls), one of their managers had a technician examine it, found that it was fine, and said that they would fix it for free.
I received it on Monday, but didn't touch it until Wednesday because I was busy at work and waiting for the new invisible shield that I had ordered. When I used it, I noticed that they had removed the invisible shield, which I expected, but they hadn't fixed the stuck pixel! (Besides this, I had returned it to them with the original box, which they didn't send back to me)
So I called them last night and requested another repair. The representative asked me if they had charged my account for the shipping, and I answered truthfully that no, they had not charged me at all. I suppose that I am fortunate that they didn't, considering the other things they did. So now I am sending my Nexus One back two weeks after I returned it to them the first time, hoping that they will fix it properly, and without any argument.
HTC never charges you for return shipping. You only have to pay to ship it to them.
I am sorry you are having these troubles!
I successfully swapped my Nexus One due to a dead pixel within 3 days! I made a call on Day one at 11pm and by Day 3 at 8 am I had my replacement phone.

That's a bit crap, in the UK they email you a pre-paid shipping label.
I live in the U.S.A., and they sent me a prepaid shipping label. I'm just ticked off because I sent it to them, argued with them for four days, and they didn't even fix it, and two weeks later I need to send it right back. Plus it cost me another Invisible Shield.
Swap method is always better, faster, and easier. Plus, you get a new phone. Who doesn't love that?
They said that they couldn't swap it because it was too far (a few weeks) the purchase date. Maybe the person I spoke to didn't know what she was talking about. That's sort of my impression of the support division of the company, though I know I'm probably having an unrepresentative bad experience.

I think this is BS from HTC. I swapped my N1 after almost two months. They will put a hold on your credit card; if you can live with that the replacement is much faster than the repair.
I'll consider that if they don't fix it properly this time. I didn't want to swap it because of my engraving and the full-body invisible shield that I put on it, but if they don't fix it this time, I probably won't be willing to trust their repair department again.
I had much better customer service from Apple when I had my iPhone ..I'm getting really annoyed with HTC ...especialy with that multitouch issue..
I have a question. Did they release $28 after you got your 'repaired' phone?

I had a dead easy time with apple and my wife's 3G and her 3GS ... you walk in with the broken phone, they demand £150 (ish) for the repair which is always your fault. They then do an estimate and if its expensive (ie > £150) they turn round and say it's BER (beyond economical repair) and offer to sell you a new one. If it's a cheap fix (ie cracked glass) they repair it and pocket the £150.
Now that is customer service!
Other issues such as the 3G problem on the iPhone where it cascades from 3G to Edge to GRPS to No Service and the only way to get it back is to either power off or switch to airplane mode and back. Took it into two phone shops and then the Apple store in London and their solution? Turn off 3G.
Although their best to date is a macbook which I hardly ever use stopped charging. Rang up and they said bring it in to the Genius Bar in 2 weeks. I did, they then said it's warranty expired yesterday (13 days after I reported the fault) and refused to touch it. Demanded to see the manager said they would do me a favour and look at it for free as it was only 1 day outside warranty. They checked the battery and it had been charged 37 times in a year. The guy said this was quite heavy use and was a years worth and I would have to buy a new battery! Queue one massive kick off in the Apple store, resulting in them begrudgingly fitted a new battery!
Or the iMac 24" ATI I bought that crashed all the time, they gave me 3 units before I read on the internet that it was a software issue. I started running XP and voila ... sorted. Apple rolled out a fix quietly without telling anyone a month or so later.
Yes Apple support rocks!
All modern companies support sucks in some cases ... get used to it. Sell a million units and if you get 99% satisfaction you will get 10000 unhappy customers. Give them a platform to shout on and voila!
I bet not everyone gets Apple support like I do, some people probably can't believe how good they are.
Anyway, enough ranting, I wish google would fix the screen calibration issue although I only need to dab the power button and unlock it to fix mine.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Having worked in multiple call centers let me be the first to tell you that it's hard to find intelligence or common sense in them. I work in a call center for AT&T right now and I do work for the Vice President and Assistant Vice President because nobody else knows what they're doing. As soon as they realized that I had common sense and knowledge of technology they took me off of the phone, gave me a raise and converted me from Contractor to Employee. I asked my Director "Why do you let the managers hire people who are so ignorant" His reply was "I'm paying them $17/hr, I don't expect them to think. We have the information and tools set in place to think for them. If I wanted them to think then I would hire people with a higher intelligence and I would pay them more. Instead, I have people like you come up with tools and other things to think for them"
So this is why I hate when people say "I called T-Mobile and they said..." because that means nothing. You can get a different answer every time because most of them don't know the answer because your questions are above their level of intelligence. Now, I'm in no way saying that every person who works in a call center is an idiot. I'm saying that a large percentage of them do not understand anything about what they're troubleshooting.
I was reading a survey in P.C. Magazine about customers' ratings of the service and product quality from companies such as Apple, Toshiba, and Hewlett-Packard. They rated things such as the frequency with which hardware was found to be faulty soon after purchase, how easy it was to have it replaced, and other such topics. Apple did rank first overall, and Toshiba ranked second. This doesn't surprise me, since I have a ten year old Toshiba Tecra 8100 that still runs fine, though I've fixed the screen hinges.
H.T.C. was not in their listing, and I had never dealt with their support before. I replaced my X51v's screen myself after having it for three years and getting some water damage (I also replaced the backup battery later), and that's working fine now. I'm kind of nervous now -- I half expect my Nexus One to come back with real scratches on the screen, or more dead pixels, or some other problem that it didn't have before. After they already accused me of damaging it last time, I sort of wonder what they might damage to do with it this time -- something worse than sending it back unfixed.

Yes, they did; they didn't charge me any money.

Thanks, buddy. I can let mine go to repairing.
Hope you get what you expect
I sent it back to them last Thursday, of course, and received a message on Monday saying that they had received it. Today, I received another message saying that they had completed their diagnostics, and guess what my option was? Pay for repair, just like last time! I sent a response asking why and called them, but all the morons in their customer service department could do was 'escalate' it, so I just sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

HTC screwed up my refund, suggestions?

Hi all. So I bought my Nexus One near the end of June, but shortly after that, I decided to return the phone to get a refund as it's defective. I called them and they sent me a shipping label, but at that time I was not in town so I wasn't able to ship the phone back with the first shipping label. Then I called them, they sent me another one and this time I sent it back( bought another used one afterward).
It has been more than 1 month since I sent my phone back to HTC. But I still haven't received any refund, nor have they contacted me. So I've been calling them for more than 2 weeks, inquiring this issue and it has been escalated 3 times already to their escalation department. The representatives told me they were still waiting for the respond from them. But so far I still haven't got any respond from them after the 2 weeks.
Since it has been too long to a ridiculous level, I'm thinking to contact my bank to initiate a chargeback. Any suggestions, guys?
Charge back isn't a bad idea. My experience with the escalation department is that they are slow and always require at least 2 additional calls.

HTC's customer service is nice, but their warehouse is horrible.
Next time you call them, ask to speak to a supervisor directly. Make sure you let him/her contact you frequently about your issue, and make sure you write down his/her name for future reference.
Yeah, I have been contacting them for more than 2 weeks. Actually it's the 3rd time they report to the escalation center. I'm very unhappy with their lousy effeciency. Reps are nice and kind, but there's nothing they can do. And they don't have a number or email so that I can't contact the repair/refund/warehouse directly.
So far since I returned my phone in mid July, I still haven't got my $600 back.
Keeps calling, keeps escalating, keep bugging them if you can wait. If you can't wait, need the money or have just had enough initiate a chargeback and forget about it.
Ugh, good luck. As a CSR with a completely different company that works with electronics, it always seems as warehouses are as slow as molasses. I agree with kam187. Do what you need to do man.
Chargeback. This is why it exists.
Okay. I will call them tomorrow for the last time. If they still can't get things right. I will start the chargeback process. I've never done it before, so hopefully it will go smoothly.

Items included in Droid Charge replacement

Several people were asking what comes with the Charge that is being offered as replacement and what do you have to send back. Here is a list of each item that i received today from big red.
In my Fed Ex box, i found a new droid charge kit (the box they come in new) and the activation guide for 4g phones.
In the Charge kit, i found a user manual, the new device, battery, AC ->USB adapter with a USB sync cable (yay!), and a $25 samsung media hub credit code. The phone DOES have the preinstalled 32gb sd card included!
What is NOT included is the 4gLTE sim card. You have to go to the corporate store for one of these. They will put it in for you and assist you in re adding your google account.
The agent stated that you are NOT required to return your old SD Card or any cases or accessories. I asked if they required the used battery and phone backing (you keep them with normal replacements) and she could not give me an answer.
I have to say that i am more than pleased with this offer and am very satisfied myself. Hope this helps!
I had a dream last night that i switched to a charge and it was shaped like a pair of binoculars and had huge push buttons everywhere on it.

Just an FYI, my closest corporate store is ~45 miles away. I called my nearest 3rd party store (Wireless Zone) and they sold me the 4gLTE sim card for $5, and activated it. It would have been free at the VZW store, but not worth the 90 mile round trip in my case.
I understand a majority of you guys got your fascinates through verizon. But i purchased mine through best buy when they had the fascinate for 150$ promotion.
I too get missed calls and other issues but i can bet best buy is not as willing to replace products for free. Is there anyway i can get verizon to supply me with a new phone since it is their radio that is the issue here? Thanks for any input !:
if you got your fassy on contract it will have a 1 year manufacturers warranty. I have heard though that if you call tier 2 and complain enough they will offer you at the least a incredible 2 or dx2 no matter where you got your fassy... worth a shot either way
I bought mine through eBay roughly 2 months ago and they never once asked how I purchased it. They were really apologetic and asked if I was interested in a different device or to wait until an update was put out later this month. Of course I took the new phone
I wasn't aware the charge was being offered as a replacement. I called several times earlier this month and was repeatedly offered a refurbished fascinate.

I think they made it a policy to replace with other models on 7/8. Its pretty amazing that they'd even replace with such new models.

I bought mine at Best Buy on Black Friday and they allowed me to do the replacement. The second time I called to tell them which phone I wanted, the woman told me that they could only replace it with another Fascinate, now that they were back in stock. So I rejected the replacement and called back, got a different rep who honored the original offer. I took the Inc2. Don't really like the look of the Charge even though I love the screen and potential 32GB card (lol), but we don't have 4G where I live and since it doesn't extend your contract, I figured its still a nice deal.
Called today with the dropped call complaint, immediately offered my choice of the three...heading to the store to finish up my "order" on the charge today!

For those of you getting the Charge, what exactly did you say to them? Just, "I'm having dropped call issues."? From my past experiences they will want you to do three hundred other things and then tell you to see how it does for a few days and call back if it happens again. Was it really as simple as "I am having dropped calls a lot, several times a day" and they go "ok how about a Droid charge"?

First tier will probably wanna do some basic troubleshooting like *228 and battery pulls or resets, just keep insisting politely that you've done all this (do it if they keep saying they want you to) and are still having problems but don't push for a new phone... You should get transferred to tier 2 (you may have to ask to go higher, ask them if there's anything else a different higher level rep can do), once you reach tier 2 they should've been told of your problems and will ask if you would like a replacement phone. You may hit snags where they ask you to go into a store to check the phone out or they may ask you questions about the build/baseband you're on, if so just comply and call back if they deny you. This is how my phone call went: I told the first CS rep about the usual problems missed calls, gps lock problems, poor signal strength etc. then she proceeded to have me do the *228 update (was on EB01 when I called I believe). It wouldn't update so she immediately told me to hold while she transferred me to tier 2 and told them about my issues. Tier 2 guy answered and right off the bat offered to replace my phone with another one, I asked 'like what?' and he named off the Dinc2, X2, and Charge. The rest is obvious...
It depends on the rep you get. Some say they have to troubleshoot it with you, even if there are notes that you have already done so. The first rep I spoke to, told me that she could only replace it with another Fascinate. I declined and called back. It was with the second rep that I was given the choices. It all depends on if the rep you speak with knows about the problems with the phone.

Issues With Samsung Customer Support

I sent my Nexus S in for a faulty rear speaker on August 25th. They received the phone on September 1st. On September 6th, the ticket was updated saying the phone was repaired. Then two days later, the ticket was placed on hold due to a part being on backorder (even though the phone was supposedly repaired two days prior).
I first called Samsung on September 20th to ask for an update. The representative said the ticket didn't have any updates and they opened an expedite ticket (but didn't provide me a ticket number) to get an answer from the repair center.
I called again on the 23rd. Same deal as the previous call. No update, expedite ticket opened, but no ticket number.
I called on September 27th asking for another update. No update in the ticket, but this representative actually gave me an expedite ticket number to reference.
I called today, October 3rd. Still no update on the status of the repair. I asked to be transferred to a manager. They transferred me to Executive Customer Relations. After spending 27 minutes on hold I finally got a hold of a representative by the name of Kevin. I asked how long does Samsung hold a phone in a repair status before they ship out a new unit to the customer. He told me Samsung doesn't do that since they don't stock phones at the repair facility (ok, but Im sure Samsung has other facilities that do stock phones - they are the manufacturer after all). He then put me on hold to get an update from the Dock Manager at the repair facility.
He came back after about 4 minutes on hold. He said the Dock Manager has no update from UPS as to when the shipment will arrive. I asked what part were they waiting for and he replied the rear speaker. They thought it was the wiring from the main board to the speaker and replaced that, but the phone still exhibited the same issues as when it first arrived.
I asked if - hypothetically - UPS still doesnt deliver the parts in, say, two weeks, what happens? He responded that a manager will make the decision at that point to replace the phone (but I thought Samsung doesn't replace phones??).
I asked who makes that decision to which he said a "higher up". They conveniently don't have a department name or a phone number because they don't deal with customers. He reiterated that they are waiting on UPS because they will be delivering it. He implied that UPS doesn't even have the parts in their possession yet, so who knows when they will actually be delivered.
I love my Nexus S and was seriously considering getting the Prime, but after this never-ending debacle, I highly doubt I will be purchasing another Samsung device. I'm angry at myself too, because I knew damn well that the speaker was the issue and saw replacements on eBay for under $30. I wanted to keep my warranty intact by having Samsung do the repair, which turned out to be a very bad idea.
Cliffs:
-Rear speaker died on Nexus S
-Sent in over a month ago
-Still no ETA for repair
-Samsung support is worthless
Anyone else have any issues with Samsung support?

Wow that is just horrible, sorry to hear that I can't believe they won't send you a new phone that is insane.
I have to add, that the service reps were very nice throughout this, but the lack of information is frustrating.
You'd be surprised at how quickly they will get their act together when you start calling their various numbers and demand a resolution.. Over a month is unacceptable. You just have to be more vocal man.

What numbers would you suggest? I have called 888-987-4357 as well as 800-522-7341. The teir 3 support number that is floating around online seems to be disconnected.
And no offense to the tier 1 and 2 reps, but they just aren't helping. They are polite, but no matter how many times I call, how many times I *****, they will not do a damn thing. Its always "I'm sorry sir, it's out of out control". I don't know how a company expects customers to be happy when their mantra is "please call back for more information" day after day after day. HTC doesn't do this to their customers.
Someone on another forum suggested I message a few Samsung reps directly through Twitter, which I will be doing once I get back onto my computer.

That's really rough dude. Fortunately it is not a problem I will have to endure because I voided the **** out of my warranty when I rooted.
Anyways I like to make sure to get ID numbers from anyone I talk to on any customer service. It just seems to keep people more accountable when they know the call is recorded and I know who they are. I dunno if it'll help in this situation tho. Seems like there's not much the reps can do if the manager says they're waiting on a part. The suggestions above are all valid, being more vocal and whatnot. That's probably your best bet.

It's for reasons like this that i try to keep my cell provider in the loop regarding repairs. Yes, it's a little more awkward dealing with them, but if you end up in a situation like this, then you have another fallback for getting a quick resolution.
I'm in a similar situation, i'm dealing with the search bug, so i'm sending it back and back again and again until i get 3-4 repairs in, then i can go to my provider and say "They can't fix this phone, I would like a different one" and if i'm lucky, by the time i get there, the Prime will be released, if not, i'll get a shinny new nexus S (or maybe the galaxy 2 with cyanogen)
For your current situation, the only thing i can recommend is tie up their people. One of my classic tricks is to "collect" people on the phone. Don't let the reps transfer you, make them conference and keep them on the phone for as long as you can. The upper people will be more careful on how they deal with you as to not give bad examples to the lower people. You are taking the lower people off the general queue, costing the company more money. The longer talk time will also draw the interest of the floor manager (different from a manager you would speak to on the phone) who will do whatever it takes to speed things up.
I once made a rep wait 1 hour on the phone with me cause his "manager" was in a 3 hour meeting that could not be disturbed. after 1/2 hour, he tried everything he could think of to get me off the phone, no avail. after 1 hour, they interrupted the meeting to get the manager on the phone.
Finally, no matter how frustrated you get, don't get rude, pissy or mean. Be firm but always be polite and proffessional.
Thank you for the tips. I called again around noon and requested to be transferred directly to Executive Customer Relations. I spoke with a gentleman named James. He was very polite, and in about 10 minutes of being on the phone with him, I was told I would get a tracking number by the end of the day. At 6:57EST, I received an email from the generic Samsung delivery service as well as James with the tracking number for a new device.
I must stress that the reps on the phone were really polite. I guess it's just Samsung that is making things difficult. I didn't have this problem with my TV, but that was about three years ago. Im going to have to think long and hard about buying another Samsung device.
I'm about to go through a similar situation. I shipped my Nexus S in to a Samsung service center in Texas almost 2 weeks ago and received an email today saying my repair is on hold due to parts needing to be ordered.
My issue is a bit more complicated then a speaker but come on! I hate iPhones but st least if you have a issue with your phone, Apple gives you a refurbished one on the spot(RIP Steve).
I'm going to call Samsung tomorrow and see whats going on. I cant wait months!

Samsung has the worst customer service I've ever seen. I live in Canada and their Canadian site only has the number for the American Customer Service centre.
I was put on hold for over 1/2 hour then told to call the Canadian customer service number.
When I called the Canadian number, the reps gave me the number of the wrong service centre so I had to call them again today and ask for a service centre close to my area.
I'm expecting a call tomorrow so I hope everything goes well. My problem is with a Samsung Dryer not a cellphone, but I've experienced the same problems before when I had to call about a cellphone issue.
Overall, they're completely useless but their products are usually solid so you don't have to call them so often!

I had not problems finding their number on the Canadian site.
http://www.samsung.com/ca/info/contactus.html
Talking to tech support, i even got a direct number for their Montreal repair facility.
The number you see on their stupid website is the American number. The Canadian number is 1-888-899-7605
I tried the number you mentioned and some lady with a Southern accent answered and she told me they're based in the US. She then transferred me to the Canadian branch which has the number I posted above.

I've called the number on the website 4-5 times without any issues. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Dude, that's extremely hard. However, because I lose my warranty when I rooted, I won't have to deal with this issue.
In any case, whenever I speak with a customer support representative, I want to be sure to collect their ID numbers. Just knowing that the call is being recorded and that I am aware of who is on the other end helps to make folks more responsible. But I'm not sure if it will be helpful in this case. If the management states that they are awaiting a part, it seems like the salespeople won't be able to do anything. All of the aforementioned recommendations, such as being more vocal, are sensible. Your best option is most likely that. If this is happening again and again the contact samsung customer service dubai or make a call on +97145864033.
