I bet you lost one from the two "transparant plastic light conductors" or they are dirty. Bring the transparent light conductor back to the middle-chassis and everything is ok...
Here two Pictures:
(before cleaning)
http://mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2/hd2_55.jpg
(after cleaning)
http://mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2/hd2_54.jpg
You find these two ( one is for the Screen ON/OFF during a Call and the other for LCD Contrast automatic ajustment. More Contrast if sun hits; less in the dark idf this option is activated ) transparent plastic guys on the left side on the top from the Middle-Chassis next to the "Batterie Charging-Indicator" under the Metal-Grid. Very important and if you don´t have an eye during the dissassembling process, they get easy lost or dirty from the Sticky Tape ( they have to be clean and free ).
If there´s still both there, i bet they are dirty. You only have to clean the Transparent Plastik-Channels and the Sensors on the Flexboard-Electronic on the other channel side. And very important: The Touchscreen have to put together with the LCD ( only important for people they separate the Touch or LCD only ) perfect. The Touch have to lay precise on these to Light-Channels !!!! ).
It´s easy to understand ( without explanation and open eyes ), but i know exact the same Problems from a lot other German HD2 TimTaylor Bindford Users. How so often, the Problem sits in front of the HD2.
Good Luck,
Michael

This is my first post here and though i read similar posts on this subject i would
like to read your opinions on this one.
I accidentally dropped some water on my touch hd and my display got damaged. The phone worked fine and so did the digitizer but the problem was that the backlight of the display was dead.At some point the backlight turned on but when i tried to input the unlock code it turned off right away (did this several times).I knew that i should replace the lcd (and the digitizer just in case).
I bought the lcd and the digitizer seperately and i managed to assemble the phone back using the service manual.Since then when i turn the phone on I hear the starting sound,i get the vibration then after a while the screen with no backlight again displays the "tap here to configure your phone" screen (after the hard reset),when i tap i get no response.
I checked the connections many times and i also used a second digitizer with no success.
Is there a possibility flashing a new ROM will solve the problem?
If so is there a way of flashing a ROM when the phone's screen is not usable?
Waiting for your precious opinions/suggestions/knowledge
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Flashing the ROM won't solve an obviously hardware problem.
If you changed the LCD and still have no backlight, then either you bought a defective screen, or the problem is elsewhere, maybe on the main electronic board... Which would be bad news.
BTW, I wanted to change the digitizer in the apst years, but its not provided with the glue, so I had to buy a whole assembled screen + digitizer.
How did you manage to glue the digitizer on the screen ?
I aligned the screen with the digitizer and then i used small pieces of a special thin and trasparent tape to hold it in place. The tape holds the screen tight and it is barely visible, it also has the advantage that you can seperate the lcd and digitizer anytime you want with ease (though you have to be very delicate when applying it to get a good result)
I asked for a replacement of the defective lcd and i hope i will get a new one.
Is there any solution for white screen in HTC magician, I am facing this problem since last 10 months, have not found any solutions and not using the device any more. I had upgrade with cotulla's ROM. I see only lines with complete white screen.
Thanx
can you give a screenshot.may be you'll need to replace the screen
No Display
I don't see any display so cannot send screenshots

well i had same problem, white screen suddenly appear, prone is responding (i can call and receive calls) but the screen remains white until reboot/restart
well i solved it by replacing lcd connector. maybe your connector is not damaged, maybe its dusty or wet or something... you may consider opening and cleaning Magician from inside and see what happens
you have a two guides on how to dismantle magician hire in the wiki
Hello, I change the screen to my Z and I have this problem.
I noticed the screen flicker when you touch or press the edges of the screen / phone. It's like if you increase the intensity of light.
The display properly reacts to the pressure of the fingers, sliding screen keyboard ...
What can happen? The screen? I open it?
The 2 Connectors of the screen with the board?
Thanks
are you using auto light? if yes try to disable it
I'm guessing it's an issue with the connections. Are you using too much pressure on the screen? I've never seen that happen on mine.

I think this is, I will dismantle it and see what happens.
Repair fail !!
Well I'm back to open the Z and I've broken the screen.
I get those lines and a black spot. 25 euros lost.
I hope it's only the screen and the digitizer.
this happened to me now i cant get anything but the lowest brightness
if you have the same as me its not the screen i think its the cable but i cant find a cheap replacement to test it plus i am thinking of going to the droid 4 if/when it gets its gsm update
Did you manage to fix the problem with your Desire Z screen, I had exactly the same problem after replacing the LCD. I took it apart and put it back together again & again but couldn't find what was causing it.
I think when you take the screen out the first time, you remove that clear glue stuff, and probably make it slightly loose. So what I did was take some of them sticky labels for printing. With a scalpel cut some very thin strips (about 2mm in width and almost the full length of each side), folded them into an L shape and stuck them aroud the 3 edges of the LCD, before sinking it into the housing and the problem is fixed.
Just in case I've not explained that very well, here is a really bad diagram.

Hi guys,
What could be the possible reasons for a touchscreen and the capacitive buttons to stop working?
I purchased my Huawei U8800 only very recently but it was purchased 2nd hand. The phone came pre-installed with a custom rom, which is this one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481168
I've had very minimal use of it ever since I received it, due to the reason that I have exams as I'm an UNI student. Therefore, I haven't modified the phone in any way, i.e I have not overclocked it or flashed a different kernel or recovery etc. The only thing I've done is installed GO SMS PRO and used it for txting and calling, that's it.
At first, everything seems to work fine. But on my 2nd day of use, the touchscreen started acting weird, where the right hand side of the screen stops working for no reason, as well as the 2 capacitive buttons on the right half of the screen (HOME and SEARCH). Then after a while, the BACK capacitive button on the left half of the screen stopped working, and eventually all 4 capacitive buttons and the entire screen stopped working.
The phone still turns on, but the entire screen doesn't pick up any finger input and there isn't any haptic feedback or vibration from the capacitive buttons. When I boot into the recovery, this is also the same.
So I contacted the seller about this, and he advised me to flash the Cyanogenmod 7.2 rom to see if this fixes the problem. It didn't, the touchscreen still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if this is related to the digitizer, which is the part of the phone that sense your finger inputs? If not, what are the other parts of the phone that could relate to the capacitive buttons and touch screen?
Definately a digitizer problem. The capacitive buttons are part of the touch screen, the touch screen is extended over the bottom of the display.
You should buy a new one from eBay or similar. If you want to buy it with a frame (black part on the front), you will have to open your phone to see if the front speaker is big or small. There are two types of front speakers and they are not cross-compatible. If you just want to buy the digitizer, you will have to remove the old digitizer from it's frame and add some glue on the new one to make sure it won't stick out.
If you don't want to mess with your phone, I am sure there are paid services that will do it for you, since replacing the digitizer is fairly easy.

thanks for your reply mate!
Ok so I've found this one here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-To...Glass-For-Huawei-U8800-Ideos-X5-/170721993712
Since it says it's "original", I don't have to worry about the speaker problem right?

They are selling the digitizer, so there will be no problems as it's only the digitizer glass and not the frame around it. The frame itself is holding the digitizer and the speaker so that's why there may be issues when buying the front cover.
If you need a disassembly tutorial, check my Mediafire (signature) -> Documents -> U8800 Basic Maintenance Manual. It's the official disassembly guide so you can be sure you are doing it right .

Wait, that doesn't have the frame around it? I thought the black part surrounding the glass is the frame? I'm confused.......
I just want something that looks exactly like shown in that Ebay listing photo, where it has that bit of the connector part that you push into the motherboard (or whatever it's called on the phone).

On your listing, it does not have frame.
If it's without frame, it is simply the front glass with connector. If it is with the frame, it has the black curve too (and speaker with led).
See this:

Hope it makes sense now

Yeah, but not much. Maybe you don't need to add any glue at all, the old one might hold it too.

hi blefish
just posted a similar question:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39201328#post39201328
is it the same solution? (the 4 buttons at the bottom do not work as well as the lower half of screen)
my speaker is 15 mm by 5 mm long (i looked inside). is it big or small?
all the ebay posts do not mention a frame - i will be happy not to mess with the glue
thanks

Hi guys,
I did have the same problem with a Huawei G 510. Digitizer broken and replaced, but still not working.
I have no action on screen. It lits but i can't press any button. Either the 3 buttons are working.
Checked the plug, checked some voltage in the pins.
Any other ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
Miltos Matt

probably need new screen assembly!
needs opening to check lcd connector to mainboard & if all connections good then new screen should be tried.
LCD & digitizer pre built assembly is only about $30 these days for decent ones but indeed not easy fit with some experience or good read up on procedure & good care when doing it.

How can i open my phone? And where is connector located?
Do you have a link to view that?
Have a read of this thread for start
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566179
Plenty more if do a search
Basically be very very careful, use plastic pry tool ONLY to remove back, start at top. 2 clips about 7mm in from top edges then once released work down right side, DO NOT stick any tools in near the volume key, if doing it right the back comes of very easy (2 pry tools are better as can keep one in top sstopping it clipping back in)
Once back off handle with care, rough handling breaks th spring contacts for antenna etc.
LCD from mainboad can be disconnected from mainboard without fully removing flex & is absolute best way do it.
I did write few posts on it so will try dig them up & link you.
If buy lcd/gigi assemble also buy a button board ribbon as they like only $3USD, with spare button ribbon you can easily plug new lcd/digi in & plug new button board ribbon into mainboard & hold a battery on it to do a test befoe sticking things together.
Also you likely damage ribbon if not careful so spare likely get used on rebuild.
Parts link is in HD2 Wiki
