only dualtouch? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I never bothered to try before but i'm kinda disapointed by this when specs clearly state multitouch. Any hacks to enable REAL multitouch?

"dualtouch" is multitouch! And no, there's no way to change this.

maybe it could be possible, see here for the defy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162327 maybe someone can find out if its a software or hardware limitation here...
but for what do you need more than 2 fingers? ok for fruit ninja and other games it coulc be useful

dual touch is not multitouch, it's multitouch for the 90% of the people that will never try anything but pinch to zoom. anyway, i need it for emulators cause i got tired of carrying my psp everywhere to play emulators but i guess it can't be helped.

+1 to "dual-touch IS multi-touch".. 8)

With multi touch you can use more than 2 fingers! ipods got multi touch.. this got dual touch coz it only accepts up to 2 inputs

what do you need the extra "fingers" for? i cant imagine anything needing more than 2...

I'm just happy that this doesn't have that annoying multitouch bug that Nexus One, ZTE Blade etc. have.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds5qZ_3XRzI

Multi = More than one.

multi-
A prefix that means "many " or "much ," as in
multicellular, having many cells.
Two is not that much, is it?
Ideos X5 Tapatalk

basic mathematics: everything more than 1 = many...
even though nobody knows what to do with more fingers (maybe only playing with the touch testing apps).

Kick ass at Fruit Ninja!

I'm with darkado. Even though dualtouch IS multitouch, calling it multitouch when it's ONLY a dualtouch feels like bit of marketing deception.

Technology calls multitouch so it's right to call it multi, there is no such thing as dualtouch
..In computing, multi-touch refers to a touch sensing surface's (trackpad or touchscreen) ability to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the surface..

If only we could get the Nvidia Tegra/APX interface on the HD
I think that would make the HD's interface amazing.

lol, yep thats true, but...if only
Lol, I will really lmaO when this (nicely) photoshopped HD from here makes it again to the news-headlines, just like the "HD Pro" haha.
Like: "HTC and nVidia working together on new UI for HD."
In fact, we should try to do that, but the top of the inset is not correctly aligned unfortunately .
just wait for a real tegra device to be released... and then touch hd will simply "die"
htc should forget about hot swapping sd cards, and incorporate hot swapping chips!

Which, unfortunately, won't be any time soon.
Edit:
Although wiki says
The first product to use the Tegra line is scheduled for release toward the end of 2008.

No, you won't be happy, you'll be lusting after 20mpx, HD recording, 1 GHZ and XGA resolution, like Ericsson predicts - http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/07/ericsson-20-megapixel-cellphones-shooting-full-hd-video-in-4-ye/
Gotta hate that technology always evolving and what not
Yeah exactly, there's always something much better around the corner!

Acer F900

Is it just me, or is there a shameless reseblance between the HD and the new Acer F900?

yeah but you know, with a touchscreen only device, there is little left to imagination...
at least it has tri band 3g. htc really went awry in reducing the range of supported bands in their latest handsets
Actually, the acer has a cleaner square look to it...
I wonder if they have managed to gid rid of the annoying fingerprints issue, looks cleaner as galaxys said
yes, but it does have a proper stylus... the touchHD one gets pretty uncomfortable after a while.

Try and limit my time on stylus anyhow, don't use it to much to be honest unless and using file explorer or changing my registry

Curiosity, what apps do you have installed for keyboard, file exporer etc?
I use the stylus to write quite a bit as the recognition is much faster than I can input using fingerkeyboard2 etc. For serious remote terminal, i use my bluetooth folding keyboard but that doesn't get much use. The stylus was the winning feature for me, something else over the iphone and others. I also use remote desktops and having a pointer is priceless.
For the most part though, i'll admit i never use the stylus with day to day messaging, phone calling etc ... but is sooo handy to have.

who can do this on my Diamond...
i mean a software with the help of which where ever i toch on the Image
it will give a water drop effect or such effect.
yuo can call it a iwater or (D)wateR
I'm not sure the diamond can handle that...
Well this is the point to show the main difference of apple products. They are more user experience oriented by UI. A fetish toy thingie not a business thingie
Well, it has been done on Diamond, I had it but I forgot the name of this app : you choose a wallpaper and when you press or slide the screen you can see water effects.

I really wonder why people choose to sh*t on something that they don't have... Interesting, really.
Why does anything have to be compared to iPhone? Damn thing!

Your sentence should be mirrored (or somethin.'): Have you thought why people don't have that "something"? Especially when you can get it almost half as expensive as the something they have. Maybe because it is sh*t.

Multitouch developers needed

Multitouch is avaiable for our galaxy spica but why not for our gt 540? in this video a mod that calculates the coordinates for all applications. Incredible!

The spica uses a capacitive screen that is capable with multitouch, the GT540 has a resistive screen, which is incapable of full multitouch.
One point
Resistives can only detect one point and it mostly dependent on pressure (so it can work on anything solid). Capacitive work only with living objects and specialized styluses.
thank you but if a program calculates two points?
Not all resistives have one point you know, anyways there will never be a practical multitouch on the gt540 just get an optimus one it's like £15 more expensive then the gt540 on ebay.
Arent the Optimus and Swift the same models? Just different brand name for the region they've been released for?

GT540 (aka Swift, Optimus and so on....)
Now Optimus One have a multi touch screen, more inside memory and 2.3 available via default software upgrade tool.
I have both and the O1 is much better its worth the extra cash just for the ram tbh, it runs much smoother and the is a larger development base for the O1

The 'Optimus' is the line of Android smartphones from LG (except from the Ally on Verizon in the US) but the 'swift' if the codename of the GT540. Like 'Star' is the codename of the Optimus 2X.
Resistive multitouch
http://www.gsmarena.com/multitouch_coming_to_for_nokia_5800_xpressmusic_sort_of-news-872.php
A developer is testing out multitouch with a game.
This phone has has a RESISTIVE touch screen. Could this same software be used in Android?
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XndW7YlvYjU&feature=player_embedded
It requires a lot of programming and hex vales in order for dual touch to function properly.

thanks for your point of view. they say different people different taste.
I dont have time so i can sit with my pc or lappy.
But my main concern is Graphic issue on gingerbread. I still satisfy with on going gaming. So if there is place for improvement then why not?
I have the same problem with CM7. Let me try it on GingerMod#8 for you.
Edit:
I confirm the problem does not exist on GingerMod/Gingerbread based kernels (i.e. Not CM7).
The textures are fine, no black borders
