RMA the whole shebang, a molten phone is unacceptable.

There must be something wrong.
I've tried using graphic intense games and benchmark programs, and charge my battery often, just to try to get it hot.
It gets warm, so you can feel it, but never more than that.
I run Lite'ning rom 4.2 with Black theme, Android 2.3.4 and KG3 .

so is possible that the warranty not accept my phone?

omg i will request exchange a whole new unit no matter how
did u use custom rom?

Did you overclock?

I'm stock and have lots of apps installed and never had a problem with overheating. I downloaded a news app and ten minutes later my phone got hotter than it's ever been before. I removed the app and it's been fine since. Certain apps appear either not to play well with GB or Exynos and have the potential to overheat the phone.

I've never really seen any app or HD game that puts MORE heat than angry birds, infact for a dualcore it runs insanely cool.. I've tried upping the GPU from 267Mhz to 400Mhz and I still dont feel anything that runs warmer.

I'm curious as to what app that was..

First of all duel core is soppose to be cooler the single cores and also use less power then single core so the hole point to the duel core thing is more speed and less battery power and less temp.
If ur melt was caused after u rooted it or/and u used a custom rom u need to put back a stock rom or ur warrenty will be invalid.

oh my word! Defective battery?

It could be a defective battery, which led to an overloaded pin (which got very hot) in the phone. I would return both phone with battery and charger, to get all checked.
The heat required to melt the plastic (about 150-200 degrees celcius) is able to melt any solderings on the mainboards inside the phone, so it should be checked. But probably no harm done, as the backside sits above the mainboard, and the mainboard is attached to the frontframe (screen side) of the phone. I would request a checkup, and a new backplate, if it was me - which is a small repair, in less than 10 minutes...

Not really heat wise, but I can tell you that Grand Prix Story drains battery like a gold digger who just met Bill Gates. Playing the game continuously gives me 2, yes 2 hours of battery life! 100% to 5% in 2 hours!
Which is sad because Kairosoft is one of my favourite game developers.

230c sometimes the BGA ICs fall off and I have to open the phone and reball the ICs and flow them back into place
I got my first SGS2 and it was really getting hot especially when streaming movies or playing games etc..i could not touch the back portion where the camera lense was. That phone had a 3g connectivity issue..so i had to return it..anyway while waiting for my usb jig to arrive..i bought another SGS2... using it the same way like my first phone, it never got hot till now..even playing games or streaming movies..it only gets warm and when i checked the battery temp..always showing about 36 to 38 degrees. On first phone, my record temp was 49 degrees and maybe it could have gone higher if i did not shut the phone down and cool it..

Got it to 45C tops, when playing heavy games continuously.
It goes upto 45 for me as well. I felt it very hot just once on the second day after I got it where I feel it went above 45. After that I've been using a cover so I dont notice the heat much and since that its never gone aove 40. Its better if you install some temperature app to monitor. Battery circle is good as it gives the temperature as well as the battery percentage remaining.
The reason it heats up so much is because there is very little gap between the components and the phones body since its very thin so the heat gets transferred directly. But it cools down pretty easily.
Sometimes it could also be because of an app- in my case it was twitter. I login only with Wi-Fi and I have disable data so it kept trying to connect and that heated up the phone. After that experience, I always turn it off after I disconnect from Wi-Fi.
My phone get's VERY hot, will also crash and a yet to be unmentioned thing, is that if I turn it off an hour or so it feels the need to automatically turn itself on again. Anyhow I will be getting a replacement of the phone selling it as brand new and be getting a new different phone.

My phone used to get hot initially when i used to use stock kernels... Then I flashed insecure kernels...one thing I noticed that when I flashed Chainfire's kernel, the phone tries to stay at an optimum cpu frequency even while playing games on it...I tested this using cpu spy... I found the phone rarely used 1200 Mhz frequency but still felt buttery smooth... when the phone constantly stays at 1200 Mhz, then cpu heats up, but when it is at 800 Mhz, it never heated up even with the heaviest usage... and ya, my phone is not under/overclocked
mine doesn't get tooo hot unless i've overclocked it or something, have a go at undervolting it, look at tekrak's overclock guide in android development for advice on that
it should help temperature problems, i hardly get them
I've done the air condition trick after it got too hot twice. But I had a doubt as to whether the sudden heating and cooling will have a damage on the phone and so stopped that. Now I just wait for it to cool down.
I've got it up to 55°, playing order & chaos over wi-fi, max brightness and connected to my charger supply.
Connecting it to the charger itself heats it up a lot so I can imagine what will happen over wifi with heavy gaming

Didn't it damage your phone?
Got this phone just yesterday. Highest temps i've had so far while gaming over WiFi and charging: +39C CPU, +42C battery. Before launching any game i take the phone out of protective case and set CPU to 200-800MHz.
The only problem so far is Pocket Legends that freezes every few minutes. I found the thread about it here on XDA and on official website. This game was the main reason why i bought this phone. Wanted to play it on high-quality, large screen... Sigh

Long Lasting Battery!!

Hello Everyone,
I am seriously tired with the really little battery backing up time if I do heavy usage...So here is a really cool and serious method on how to improve the battery backing time.
Remember...Try the method with your Risk..You will the sole responsible if anything happens to your battery(although nothing will happen if you follow the instructions properly).
So here it goes:
1. Drain your battery to 0%.
2. Remove the battery.
3. In a polythene or a ziplock pouch place the battery in it and safely secure the pouch or polythene.
4. Now keep the battery in a DEEP FREEZER...(Brand Recommended: LG )
5. Let the battery remain in the DEEP FREEZER for 12-18 hours.
6. After the time has passed, remove the battery from the deep freezer, unpack it from the pouch or polythene, and let it come to a warm temperature.
In the mean time, while the battery is outside, there will be water droplets around the battery...dont worry its perfectly safe, but make sure that you clean them.
Now place it in your phone and charge it...You will see the difference...
How it works:
If you are a chemistry student or if you have learnt chemistry, the battery contains lithium fluid, which after a period of time starts to become more liquidish..so the bonds weaken, and therefore less battery backing time...If you keep it in the deep freezer, the bonds become more powerful and hence they 'Handshake' more perfectly. So therefore a better battery backing time.
I did this trick, and it really works...so go ahead and try it!!!
Anybody tested?wanna try,but I always get backfire by doing silly stuff.and as I rember.I saw a warning that the battery shouldn't be cooled below the temperature of 4°C

LoL.....batteries musnt exceed the temperature above 40 degrees....cooling wont harm it in anyway!!!! and i tried...it seriously powerups ur battery!!!
I get 4 - 5 Days out of my battery! So i don't have to do this YET. Really thanks for this. I will try it when my battery starts to be weak.
Do you have any screen shots of your battery consumption to back up you claim by any chance...

Freezing will actually damage the battery in the long run. The same holds true for totally draining it.
Now, this method might work in the short term but not in the way you're thinking. Freezing the battery will actually slow down the chemical processes, which results in what could be described as undervoltage at the hardware level.

Here is a thing.....download a battery indiacator widget...note the current voltage produced while its FULLY charged.....then after freezing and charging it to 100%, notice the widget again....it seriously does helps it and the battery....it doesnt harms the battery for a really long use....i did this, and noticed that i got a maximum voltage of 4193!!!....do test it!!!

should we start a poll for those who have tried and whailt results they got? Because if this really works it's very helpful, not to mention informative. (I do hate chemistry)

TIC [Thermal Imaging Camera] about x8 and x10

Hi Dear X8&X10 Users!
First of all. I dont want to change the world, just want to share my experice what i gained during my studies and share these pictures what are not common, (because we use non-common cameras)
I have a chance to make TIC pic about our phone, while charging, and tomarrow i have a new chance to make more pic.
So, me and one of my frined, just decided to make some pic, and explanation.
The x8 and x10 is about 20-30°C in normal condition. But. When you start to charge your phone its starts to heating(you can experience it),from outside to inside as the picture shows it.Its about 40-50°C while charging but it's just a relative degree and need more metering to get the correct value.
Tomorrow i have a new chance to make other pics about our phone. I planned to make some pic about processor, but i think we wont see anything difference from it's enviroment because the armv6 chipset is too small to sense it, and need more sensitive devices to make a good picture what can be evaluated.

About the pics.
You can see the x8 and x10 when they were started to charge to full charged. The interesting thing is, when you can see the starting of the charge. The battery is starting to heating from outside to inside. My opinion is, that the cells of the battery starts the electricity gaining from the outside. While charging the degree is starting to increase and while its full charged its started to cooling,at 100% it goes back to normal temperature.
While started to charge:
The processe:
THe cooled ones after charging (plugged in but 100%):
About the screen.
Its just a normal surface, which behave like everything what we touch. You leave thermal points on it, and nothing more. We checked the temperature of the screen while we set the brightness higher and higher....and.........nothing. Nor temperature increasing.
I hope you enjoy this review, i'm gona continue it tomorrow with CPU test, and standerd temperature after OC.
(I'm a safety engineer, who want to know a lot about the phones safety, and the connection between battery and CPU overheatings)

Ok i explain. Our CPU is small, about 20-25 squaremilimeters. So if its indicate some heat it lost between the camera and the CPU, so senseable diference between the 2 temperature will not be shown. But! if i punnish my phone, and take out the battery during the hard gaming, there is a little chance to see some heat-point on the shell!
I'll try my best

Damn is my phone broken

So I bought the phone used for 350 USD. The guy claimed he only used it for two weeks.
Although the phone is great quality, but I think the battery is broken.
Its like drops a percent after other minute use. Anyone please confirm it it's not normal.
Do you know how can I log the battery usage?

From 100% to 70% for 4 hours, just chatting in Internet. Look log in "battery usage " where you can turn on/off "stamina". From 100 to 90 I drown fast. The most long battery life % when it is 60-40%
My phone drops a percent after 5 minutes from 100% and sometimes it takes less time .. but battery life is good

The problem is here when you buy the phone?Try to calibrate battery(there are a lot of methods). The older user probably used wrong his battery. Calibrate and try for another week ...and see the results Do you make a factory reset when you buy it? If you don't ...try it... sometimes factory reset fix batteries calibration problems Sometimes my battery drops like yours but depends what i do.
Yes i did make him do factory reset before I got it. But damn i rush i hadn't, i could have seen total run time.
I read on another thread where it said Facebook app drains battery a lot.
I haven't charged it to 100 percent yet. Will see how long it by doing it.
Uninstalling the Facebook app did make a difference.

Try a hard reset and then flash 4.4.4 again
You should confirm that if the phone is using stock firmware. or you should just flash the stock one by yourself. since you said USED phone.
also if it is battery issue. you should able to get a new one from ebay. and I think there is a video on youtube about open the back panel and change the battery.

Update
Just wanted to post an update.
The About information of my Sony device, non rooted and did complete up to date.
Right now I have it fully charged to 100 percent and have read a few calibration "How-to". I removed it from charged and rebooted the phone. I have install GSM Battery Manager as well.
I still don't know how I can delete battery stats and I think i can't considering the phone isn't rooted. I have stamina mode enabled + low GPU/CPU undervolting option in it.
Lets see how long it last.

Sudden Battery Drop

Lately, I've been having sudden battery drops. Like today I was just scrolling through my phone like usual when I notice my phone was at 21%. A few minutes later, I check my phone to open an app and I drop down to 7% all of a sudden. Right when I'm about to go charge it, it dies. All this in under 5 minutes with that last drop in less then a minute. Is there a way to fix this?
I just noticed there's also a blue blinking light after it dies. When I connect it to charge, it starts at more than 15% but when I try turning it on it starts, dies and shows that it has no charge just to start at the same percentage it showed when I connected it at first.
I have the same problem too. I asked here awhile ago about it and people said it was battery calibration problems. They said just to take out the battery, wait a few moments, and then put it back in. But now it keeps happening. I don't know if it's a faulty battery (it's not bloated or anything) or the software. You should try a different battery (and I might too)

Yea luckily my dad bought the same phone so I'll try to get the battery for a day and see if its my battery or phone.
Save me!!
Hey, thanks for your post. I have the same exact issue. Everytime I connect it to charge it, when it has low batt, it shuts down. In appearance it's OK, not bloated. The problem is the auto-shutdown when I connect it and the huge battery drops or fast drains. Have you solved this issue by changing the battery?
If you did, would you tell me how the OEM packaging is? Here in Argentina I have to pay usd$20 for one I am certain is fake or usd$50 for another one.. which I guess is the same fake, but if you could help me with the packaging or some detail, I'll be able to check the real one
Thanks in advance!
Help!
I have same issue on my Note 4 for a last few months. And it's just getting worse.
Today it dropped from 48% to 5% and turned off.
I even took it to Samsung service and they told me that everything is OK with phone and that I have to change charging equpment.
I did that and it didn't help. It's happening again.
I hope somebody knows how to fix this, it drives me crazy when I can't rely on my phone.
Tnx

My safest guess would be that your battery is now faulty and the only solution is to buy a new battery. In my case, I have 2 batteries (both original batteries from Samsung), and I have noticed that with one battery (an older one), my phone will automatically shutdown around 20% (displaying the same behavior as yours) while the other battery (a newer unit) displays no such problem.
Otherwise, you can always endure for another 2 months, the next Galaxy Note (don't know whether it will be call Note 6 or Note 7) is rumored to be out in mid-August (based on what I have read online)

I am not sure if I want to buy next Note. I am really not satisfied with Note 4 build quality. I have problems with signal, screen is scratched a lot even though I am using S view cover (like there is something wrong with Gorrila Glass 3), and now battery issues one year after I bought it. I didn't expect so many problems from Note series. But I also don't know what to buy next?

2016 is actually a great year for smartphones, we have a lot of great options this year regardless of budget. Personally, I am very excited about the following 3 phones that are coming really soon: OnePlus 3, ASUS Zenfone Deluxe and ZTE Axon 7 (all of them will come with a snapdragon 820 and 6 GB of RAM!!!).
