Check voice recording app. That says microphone errors.
Maybe it is network error. Try to check with few different sim cards..
Then you have the headset. Check everything with headset too. That again tells phone microphone errors.

I had this exact problem yesterday! No one could hear what I was saying properly on calls. I rebooted and had a look in call settings etc. but had no joy.
I then looked at the phone its self. The microphone hole on the bottom of the case appeared to be blocked. I took the battery cover off and poked a pin through the hole to clear out some grime which had collected in there and was clogging it up. Solved all my problems.
Probably not the same issue you have but it might be worth a look!

Outgoing call problem

One in five outgoing calls that I make does not connect. All I get is the sound from the mic looped into the speaker. At forst I thought it was my buetooth but alas that is not the problem. This has gone on for a few weeks. I have reset the phone (soft, hard and factory reset) with no improvement. Thoughts?

It a known software bug

Thanks. Do you know of any official Sprint word on this? Any partial work arounds? I may call them this afternoon as this is really driving me nuts... well if the phone will allow mw to hear them.

When you make a call and the phone sits and makes no noise, toggle the speaker phone on and off and I bet the other person is waiting on theother line wondering why you didn't say anything for a few seconds. Happens to me all the time.

Should I send my Aria back

Recently my headphone jack started playing audio through only one side, so I decided to call HTC to see if they could repair it, and they said theyll see what they can do, but when they test it and they see its rooted what do you think they'll do, and what should I do?

First of all, have you tested it with a different set of headphones? Obviously the headphones could be the problem and not the phone itself. Also make sure you aren't using a case that is blocking the headphone jack from pressing all the way in.
If you're absolutely sure it's a phone problem, you can return the phone to its original state by using the 2.1 RUU on the phone.
Did you check to make sure there wasn't lint in the headphone jack? Thats happened to me before.
Sent from my HTC Aria
The only issue that you might run into is that they may upgrade the software to the unrootable 2.2. I find that when I send a phone back, they always wipe the phone and install the latest firmware.

How would you remove the lint?

I'd try compressed air. You can buy it in a can from most electronic stores, if you don't have a air compressor handy.
OK thanks I will try that
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
I just used a small needle to pull it out.
I've decided to tell them I lozt my phone and pay 50 bucks for a new one and hopefully it doesn't come with 2.2, if it does I'm just gonna use my messed up one til there is a root for 2.2

On the bright side if it comes with 2.2 you can send it to get clipped and still use the old one till it gets back.

To who do I send it to?

Calls sound "far away"

My wife's having an issue where calls through the earpiece are hard to hear. You can hear an ambient sort of noise which sounds like its at normal volume but callers on the other end sound very quiet. She has resorted to putting every call on speaker to hear. Her mt4g is stock, non-modified/rooted. Any idea what the problem could be, or what I could try fix it? I tried searching, but the search on the mobile app isn't as easy to use as the full site.
Thanks!

Well this should be in Q&A but it sounds like hardware. Has she dropped in water or any other liquid? If not and you bought from tmo you should have a warranty to cover a replacement
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
I bought it 2nd hand a month ago, so no chance of warranty replacement through tmo. Was hoping there'd be a fix available without having to wipe the phone. The water indicator is still white and there doesn't seem to be any physical damage.

Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using XDA App
Does nothing, the apk doesnt even exist for carmode so can't remove that. I'm on miui freshly squeezed
I think its a hardware thing but not sure
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk
I use CM7 and the "Car Mode" is just 6 large buttons that take you to another app.
I always remove it via Titanium Backup.
Has your handset ever been connected to your car via bluetooth or dock?
Yeh I connect it for calls and.music to my headunit
Looks like I need to download nodock

That happened to my dhd bout 6 months ago. Took it to vodafone, they reinstalled froyo bit it was still doing so they replaced it under warranty.

This happened to me too. May seem stupid but solved it by properly cleaning the USB port with a air blower and a toothpick, a lot of lint came out which probably was causing some pins to short circuit, read about it somewhere when I was searching for a solution for this! Hope it helps!
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
You have to stick a screw driver the usb port and bend it up slightly. The pins arent making contact with the board. Search my name. I made a post on what i did.

In call Sound crackling/distortion in receiver

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500.
I'm facing a crackling/distortion during calls.
I got my handset replaced twice. My 2nd and 3rd handset after replacement also face the same issue.
I have given my handset again for replacemnt.
Anyone facing the same issue?
There's a crackling/distortion during calls at max volume.
+1
I have noticed that too. Beyond a certain sound, there is cracking sound. Happens on Airtel Network.
Yup!!!!!!!!
Same here. More audible when you hear the ring back tone. its like some thin film vibrating over the speaker.
btw I am on airtel too
Same here, when having a call I can hear a crackling sound, it's minor but somehow annoying. Right now I'm not worried but I'm thinking about how it might become a bigger problem in the future.

Are you airtel too? My collegue has an s3 on airtel.. high volume has the same effect on it.. on 75-80% of the volume its fine
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Best time to test it is while dialing 121 customer support number on full volume

Take it from me, it is normal.. my colleague who has the S4 told me that he does not have this problem. I personally checked it and realised that the problem is actually there.. but only some of us notice it.. keep the volume above 3-4th level and you should it be fine..

There is a new update on galaxy s4 india today. Update it and see if the problem has reduced. I feel it has reduced but it could just be a placebo effect..
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
i'm using MEA f/w and still have the crackling sound, but it's much better when using "clear sound" setting
Same here.. with clear sound enabled it it greatly reduced.

Fixed on MF3 :good:
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
I can also confirm that samsung has fixed the problem. I am using MF8.
I don't think this is a software issue, but a hardware one.
I disassembled an S4, I unmounted the earpiece speaker. It comes attached with 2 more sensors.
I made a test call with the back case disassembled so I could press with my finger against the earpiece speaker and the crackling noise dissipated away.
Its like by pressing on it the vibration of the speaker was limited and it sounded pretty normal at max volume.
As a workaround, I inserted a piece of low density foam (found in many packaging boxes) between the earpiece and the front speaker grill and the distortion appeared again, but fainter, after I mounted the back case (speaker assembly) and tightened the screws. Indeed, like others said, its best heard when ring tone is playing when calling someone.
The earpieces is found for $3 on ebay as spare parts, maybe I'll try a new one.
I really hope its not a Samsung design flaw. Check the pics. Thoughts?
I'm pretty upset. I paid a lot of money for this phone, it has a problem and I don't like to send it to service to get it raped by some uncaring hands. I would like to have it changed, I hope its not going to be a difficult process as many things are in my country after you pay the money. How hard was it for you to get it changed?
Has this issue been treated in other threads on the internet?
Little offtopic: the best in call sound experience I had was/is with Blackberry Bold series. They have a clear sound, crisp, no distortion, even with a little bass. Sounds solid. Too bad is that limited.
The problem is with Adapt Sound!, disable it in sound settings [Call Sound] and everything should be fine. Hope this helps:good:
