Ice cream sandwich! - Acer Iconia A500

Ice cream sandwich...
Besides it would melt and get all sticky
Never mind ice cream sandwich,
My partner wants to know when does the cheesecake come out?
Come on, you all know cheesecake is better than ICS
Or should it be profiteroles?
How do you like yours?

Well, it wouldn't be Cheesecake because C has already passed.
J might be Jaffa or Jelly... I can't think of many J related desserts.
K ... Kahula!

Yeah Cheesecake's going to be, what, Android version 22.17 or something? Right after Blueberry Pie and before Death by Chocolate.

Please stop I am fat enough

I think the next version should be called jelly roll!

I want some of what you're smoking.

Honeycomb succsefully boots on the evo...

Well, they got a (decently) running version of the honeycomb sdk to boot on evo. This includes the launcher which was having some issues running on lower resolutions in the android emulator.
Anyone gonna try to get it to boot on the G2? I kinda wanna play with some honeycomb! =/

Running off of a sdk on your phone is a waste. I think I'd rather wait and see what happens after honeycombs source is released. :3
Besides Honeycomb is optimized for tablets. Why waste your time trying to get it on a phone when theres rumors saying Ice Cream will be honeycomb and gingerbread mashed together. I think I'll stick with my brand new CM7 RC1 release.
Well, from what I can see, the whole thing adapted pretty smoothly to the smaller screen of the Evo...to be honest, I really just want to play around with the UI on a smaller device.

it would be nice to see the 'back end' benefits of HC with something like ADW installed to better deal with the smaller screen.

And the rumor is it wil be called Ice Cream Sandwich. One of my favorite desserts!
Omg, what's with these names?? Can't they make it sound professional? For being really smart, they have no taste in names.. :/

I'm working on it right now, although I can't promise anything considering I have very little experience with this. So far I'm running into this error:

Once the source is released and there's something stable, I'd like to give it a run. I'd love to change the DPI but regretfully it usually breaks most apps or gives weird graphical annoyances. I'd love something optimized to fit MORE on the screen

In early tests, this kept giving users the flashies after about an hour or so....

U like to think of the glass as half full, I like to think of a bear punching a tiger

Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and now Ice Cream. Hungry? Why wait? Well, it's because we have no choice. In my opinion the ONLY reason why we have to wait so long for the next best thing is because it takes the Google development team way too long time to come up with dessert names in alphabetical order. I know how it easy it would be to blame all of the delays on our carriers, but i'm here to tell you it's not their fault. I know at first this sounds a little silly, absurd even, but we can't forget that they're Google developers and not XDA. So let's help these incompetent monkeys out. Your mission if you choose to except is to come up with the rest of the OS's names so we can rule out any more delays on their end. And remember, this isn't "Mission difficult", it's, well... "Mission if you find some extra time on your hands and your not planning anything else for awhile and you've already made dinner and the put the kids to sleep and then you rememberd to think about it while you were eating your dessert so you try to come up with the remaining operating system names... in order" (kinda has a ring to it, don't cha think?)

Thought this was interesting

Gingerbread UI found hidden within Android Honeycomb 3.1 on a Dell Streak 7. What's interesting is that the ui's aren't supposed to mix until Ice Cream Sandwhich.

Honeycomb 3.0 Kernel Development

Urgent!! Android Honeycomb 3.0 Kernel Needed! Kenia and Chile in i9000 forums have done it. Actual Android 3.0 on galaxy S. We need a compatible kernel. Anyone interested?
Link to the New Honeycomb 3.0 Thread!! It's Real!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116161
All I see in that forum is Sense 3.0 being ported over to the galaxy S... not Android 3.0... besides, no source for Android 3.0 has been outed yet because "its not ready yet" according to Google.
Considering that there is no Honeycomb sources, they're probably just using my kernel to boot it (same as they are doing for the sense roms).

But it would be pointless since none of the phone functions work. Now if I can get Honeycomb with working phone functions then I'll take that, but until then -- not interested.

haha well once you begin to port Ice Cream to captivate then go and talk all the crap you want about honeycomb. Until that time has come, we should sit back and enjoy this year old device's constant development. The grass is always greener!
C'mon guys... Yeah, this'll probably never be a usable ROM, just like the Sense port, but it's cool as hell that they can even get it to boot. Let us nerds enjoy it .

plus, the sgs touch rom makers may think this is pretty neat, make voodoo run on this and make it into a honeycomb mp3 player

You don't need a kernel. Everything is broken anyway.. the i9000 kernel will do for now.

Yes, Honeycomb is designed for tablets. Enjoy the hard work the devs have put into the Froyo/Gingerbread ROMS and wait patiently for Ice Cream Sandwich sometime in the future.

+1. ICS is the way to go from now on.
ICS or nothing.;p
LOL, ICS.
Even if it is released October/November, we still will have to wait quite some time for it.
I am not quite sure but, despite the fact that Nexus S and Galaxy S are almost the same phone, it took Samsung like 3-4 months to update to Gingerbread.
(If I recall right the Nexus S was released in January and the update rolled out in May)
Whatever, I hope there will be leaked firmwares so we can update anyways.
