Hi, I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and decided to update the firmware through SE Update Suite. In the middle of firmware update, the computer BSoDed on me. The phone went dead and the PC did not detect it any more (Unknown USB device in device manager).
Eventually I managed to detect the phone by SEUS (on another machine); now I have a "COMXX SSE X2 Software DOWNLOAD" in device manager. I follow the instructions in SEUS to update the firmware, press and hold Vol Down + Power buttons. The phone vibrates and device manager shows "COMXX SE X2 Software DOWNLOAD", but SEUS does not update the phone.
What can I do to recover the phone?

You have to do it through SEUS.
don't worry
this happened to me too. heres what you do read all the steps before you do it
first go ahead and charge you phone just plug it into the wall then follow these directions
1.) start suess and continue like you normally would
2.) remove your battery cover and leave it off
2.) when you get to the step that asks you to plug in your phone, connect your phone via usb to you computer, then hold the down volume button + the power button + while you are holding these buttons push the soft restart button* do this all at once and do not let go of any of the buttons until you see the white screen with the sony ericson logo and it should update like normal.
*to get to the soft restart look at the back of the phone with the battery cover off, now pull out the stylus right there next to you camera where you stylus came out is a little button push it with your stylus.
this worked for me when i thought i bricked my phone and it worked, so good luck and tell me how it works out

doesn't wurk, device unknown maybe you didn't brick your phone, that's why it was still booting to logo screen...
I noticed that "COMXX SSE X2 Software DOWNLOAD" device appears in Device manager when the Volume UP is pressed on boot instead of Volume DOWN.
One more thing... There is a useful piece of software out there called QPST (Qualcomm Phone Service Tool). When I have the phone in download mode it detects the device (since it's Qualcomm platform, pretty much like ZTE 3G modems). But I don't have loaders or software to flash the phone baseband from QPST. Maybe if someone can parse the firmware available on the Net and extract the said loaders and software, then I could flash the Baseband and get the phone detected by SEUS to continue flashing Windows part. Unfortunately, decrypting the firmware is way beyond my knowledge. Anyone more knowledgeable on this subject?
First of all: Charge your phone for at least 2 hours from wall charger. I have experienced that it does not charge from USB always, especially when in update mode.
Please try this if you have only charged from USB previously.

Thanks for your advice, but I am aware that phones don't always get full charge with damaged firmware. That is why I took the battery out and charged it fully with a special charger for batteries.
Need help
Can anybody help? - Problem is that i cant "push" my phone to go to bootloader (tried soft-reset, vol down+shut down..nothing helps), so it i cant update via SEUS. And after trying to instal manualy R3 cab's, "Clear phone memory" is gone - now i even can't reset my phone.
Anybody, please help.
what i think you trying to do is boot the rom from the sd card is that right? if you are, it won't work because you need a alternative bootloader or a hard-spl which the x2 doesn't have... yet. thats why we HAVE to use SUES. if you can't get your computer to recognize your phone even after charging it in you special charger and forcing it into bootloader via SUESS (the option i pitched earlier) your best bet is to contact Sony Ericsson or who ever you bought it from and tell them they sold you a faulty device and they HAVE to replace it. if you get the opportunity to talk to them on the phone be firm and don't ever place fault on yourself and push that they sold you a broken device, hopefully they will send you a new one. i'm sorry i couldn't help. At this time my knowledge in Winmo is ignorant at best. good luck
anyone know how to help?? i also have this problem.... ><
Down volume button + the power button doesn't have the logo of SE..
and the SEUS can't detect my x2... wanna cry//
Hi!
Do exactly like this:
1 Charge the battery with the wall charger to at least 50.
2 Remove all cables connected to X2. This is important!
3 Remove and re-insert battery.
4 Push and hold volume down.
5 While still holding volume down, push and hold Power at the same time.
6 Hold until SE logo on white background appears, then release both buttons.
7 Now connect USB cable.
Be careful to follow this exactly or it will not work!
x2 prob
I have same problem in my phone , during update with SEUS computer hang and now
my phone shows only vibrate.
i have tried volume down+power+reset
but it can't go to white screen or sonyericsson logo.
any other solution

if you're getting that, quit and unplug the phone, take out the battery so it's completely dead (and take out the sim card while you're at it)
then put back just the battery and put the phone into download mode (volume down + power)
then run odin and THEN plug in the phone. you have to do it in the right order otherwise it gets stuck on file analysis. go figure.
ok i did that..now i'm stuck. i have a computer and phone icon with a yellow sign in between. nothing happens. did i just brick my phone?? HELP (((
This should be pinned!

No.
If you had a messed up original Captivate install, do this:
Unplug
Remove Battery
Reinstall Battery
Hold the DOWN volume button, THEN the power button.
Should go right into Download mode
Open the Odin flasher
Plug USB in
Wait for the connection.
If you're trying to recover from having Vibrant firmware installed, it's the same, but you need to hold the VOLUME UP button instead of DOWN.
i did exactly what u said, remove battery completely, insert battery, hold down first, then press power until it powers up. i get the same issue. a black screen with a graphic that looks like this:
(phone graphic)- - - yellow sign with "!" mark - - - (computer graphic)

I had the same exact issue while trying to flash the firmware. What you need to do is make sure your phone is off. Open Odin. Attach the phone to your PC. Hold down and press power and it will boot into downloading mode. ODIN MUST BE OPEN!
As long as its attached to the PC and Odin is open it will go into downloading mode, not the picture that you are seeing.

there was a thread about that issue, turn off your phone, unplug the usb cord, plug the usb cord. hold vol up and vol down and the power button. it will come on but when it goes off release the power button and keep holding down the vol up and vol down. should go into auto download mode. then u can reload it via odin.

you can save your device through odin, plug your phone in to your computer and try to go into download mode may take a couple tries, and flash the stock ROM you can find on these forums
i have already tried the sequence to get it into download mode... it doesnt work... tried adb and nothing registers....
anymore ideas? looks like im going to have to do a warranty exchange.
The only way I can reliably get to download mode is: power off, remove battery, replace battery, hold both vol buttons, plug in usb. works every time though.

are you using a .pit file? and if so is it the right 512 .pit file?
if both those are yes, delete the one on your system and re-download it.
I had this same exact problem a few weeks back Odin would hang on the pit file, just redownloaded and it worked like a charm.
and just a quick reminder of everything out for the Vibrant right now
Only stock firmware use the 'PDA' option a pit file, and re-partition
froyo firmware use the 'PDA' option and a pit file, no re-partition
JACs kernels use the 'CSC' option and no pit file, no-repartition
i have a Bell Vibrant and all the methods don't work. i tried the 3 button (remove batt, place in batt, plug USB, wait for the the ''star" to appear, hold VOL+/- and POWER and wait for the screen to turn off, release POWER, but it just goes back to recharging screen. tried it 40 times
tried the power off, remove battery, replace battery, hold both vol buttons, plug in usb. no go as well.
ANything else? I'm stuck at the boot screen (the 'S' glowing part).
This is what always works for me.
Unplug your USB from your phone
Makes sure ODIN is ready to go on your PC
Hold down the Down Volume and Power until the download screen comes on
Then plug your USB back into the phone
fire up odin
pull your battery
connect phone to pc WITH THE BATTERY OUT
hold volume up+down and power
put battery in while still holding those buttons
the screen will light up with....something. Wait for the screen to blink and then release the buttons.
You are now in download mode!
i will try those methods. Thanks.
crap, still no. just keeps showing the battery charging. i remember rescuing my htc magic so many times, but no go on this guy.....
Odin all fired up when doing this......

Did you make sure that the USB was unplugged when you used my method of holding down the volume down button and power button together until the download screen came up?
If you are familiar with ADB. You can also power your phone on and then plug in the USB and then type in the command line:
adb reboot download
to get it to reboot into download mode.
You can also use this command from the recovery console if you are able to get to it.

Dude, the Vibrant is new to us all. None like it. So dev wise its harder to explain and understand when we are used to coming from a one press method, now were using Odin, and Thor's hammer to flash our phones, which is god awful, no pun intended.
Dont flame your fellow Vibrant user cause he doesent understand the 613 steps it involves, and every other way to do so. Help the kid.
I am also in this position, just using a finger in the socket method, if its on it'l shock me, know what i mean. Just try it all. I have a feeling its getting harder and harder to brick phones because the manufacture is not retarded, they fix them right back, and ship them back out to customers who need replacements. I know this as a friend works at an AT&T shipping warehouse.
So cant we all just hit a bong, or get a long? And help?
If someone could explain all this 512PIT, PDA, and CSC, and Phone. It would help so much, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Just sayin.

Yeah man, i'll try it again!! And when do I start typing (sending out the adb command) when the power turns on? Thanks.
Question is: when i press power+vol Down, the boot splashscreen comes on (Galaxy S etc etc).....
I am sorry you have a Bell Vibrant, it is a little different than my phone. I found this hope this helps
HOWTO GET INTO DOWNLOAD-MODE:
- Turn off your Phone
- Hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME Buttons
- While holding VOLUME DOWN + HOME Buttons press POWER Button until you reach Download-Mode
- Release all Buttons
I also read that some of the Bell Vibrants had their Download/Recovery mode disabled.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754673&highlight=bell
As far as the adb command I would start as soon as it powers on. It will say "error:device not found" at first, but just keep on hitting arrow up and hitting the enter in the command window until it accepts the command.
Good Luck
ugh im tired of bricking my vibrant
so i have obsidian v2 and I installed OCLF 2.2+ and now i'm stuck at the vibrant screen. i only had 3 apps on my SD card and i moved those over to the phone storage.. then i went ahead and did the lagfix... it said it was done successfully and then restarted but now i'm stuck at the vibrant screen
did i do something wrong?? (obviously i did but what? lol)
Do you know how to use odin if not you should start reading up on it. To get into download mode open odin, now take your battery out of your phone then put it back in, hold the volume up and down button, now plug in your usb cord that should be plugged into your pc you should see download mode now fix your phone with odin now I let go of your hand

yeah i was hoping not to have to do that (again) lol

4. plug in the USB and voila...download mode!
every method I read suggested using vol up+vol down.. none of those worked for me

I got the same scary looking screen last weekend too but be patient!
FIRST: MAKE SURE you have the proper android driver installed in the PC!
SECOND: open control panel>device manager, if you see the T959 or something like android device under USB sub menu then you are good to go.
Then continue repeating what you had done: keep vol up&down after battery in, USB cable in, download screen on, release vols, either open Odin app before or after.
LAST: BE BRAVE! I almost gave up after going to three different local stores and none knew what to do
I flashed my Arc to UK generic firmware 4.0.A using flashtool.
All went well.
Then I after a using it normally for a while I did a full reset of the phone to remove all personal info and return it to factory state.
I then put the phone away for a few months.
When I then took it out again, it will not boot.
I charged it over night and when I press and hold the power button, the LED beside the USB connector flashes green quickly and that's all the happens. The screen does not come on and it does not vibrate as normally on start up.
No combination of button presses seems to make any difference.
I can connect it to the PC in flash mode, but again, the screen does not come on. Flashtool (0.5) does detect it in flash mode, but it says that it cannot flash the device and says to disconnect it, turn it on and set USB debugging mode. But obviously I can't do that because it won't boot.
Fastboot does not detect the device connected at all.
I am stumped!
