Hello all, I know you'd tell me to use the Search Tool and I did but I don't have the time to try each and every ROM this forum has to offer.
At the moment I am using "MoDaCo Custom Froyo ROM for the HTC Legend"
I have all the stock FroYo apps +
Alchemy
App2SD
AppBrain
Barcode Scnaner
Dolphin Browser HD
Dropbox
Easy Filter
Facebook
Gmail v2
Handscent
JuiceDefender with Ultimate Juice
Maps v5
Market
MyBackupPro
ROM Manager
Swype (doesn't work for some reason)
Titanium Backup
Uninstaller
Zeam v2 (Launcher)

(1) Anyway, I'd like a ROM which is FroYo (is Gingerbread faster?) which is faster and is possibly lighter on battery/resources. Boots real quick and is snappy fast. HTC Sense is not necessary as I use the Zeam Launcher (really good launcher, indeed.) I use only one home screen and no widgets.
(2) I don't even use the stock applications like App Sharing, Desk Clock, FM Radio, Footprints, Friend Stream, Latitude, "Learn More", Navigation, News and Weather, Peep, Places, Quickoffice, Stocks, Flickr, Adobe Reader, Teeter, Wi-Fi Hotspot.
(I know I can use Titanium Backup to remove these apps but I'd still like a ROM which would come without at least most of these apps)
(3) I don't use 3G or EDGE; just GPRS and WiFi
Secondly, any app suggestions?
EDIT: "[ROM] B 0.6 based on stock HTC FroYo (01/14/2011)" looks really cool but the apparent WiFi problems are holding me back. Can anyone confirm that it doesn't exist or if there is a work around?
bump?

Stick to CM6 stable that's as snappy as you get on Legend
I had flashed CM some while back, there was a Market issue. Does that still exist?
As per your request, I am here
BlaY0's ROM is good, the wifi issue isn't present for me. CM6.1 has no market issues, just remember to flash it (gapps). I am using CM7 #13 at the moment, it's real smooth. Faster, JIT works propery. The battery life for me is about 15 hrs (YMMV). I can get 2 days over the weekend (ironically I use my phone less over the weekend).
Hope this helps,

Thank you, both of you! "Thank'd"
At random time the volume will be stuck at full blast even if I push the volume down button or go to the sounds settings page and turn it down there. It either mute or full blast. Ill be trying a factory restore later tonight after I back some game saves up and my pictures. Just wondering if anyone else has had this bug.
And I never unlocked or rooted so not sure what's up with this thing.
I have only had mine for a few hours and have had that happen to me too.. let me know if you figure it out

Reboot......
This was touched on in another post as well. Reboot fixed it for me and it has not returned since. Others in that thread had similar results.

I have rebooted and it still happens. I uninstalled all apps that wanted hardware control. Im hoping it was a bug with extended control. Ill keep test to figure it out. The last thing i want to do is return this thing.
I had this happen to me too. Havent' tried it this morning yet.
Same problem here. Had it happen minutes after booting for the first time. Rebooting "fixed" it temporarily but the problem returned. I can't pinpoint why it happens. It'll happens either when I play a movie, game or music. I hope this gets fixed fast! Very unacceptable!
Mine did it but after doing a simple restart i haven't had the problem since.
i uninstalled a few apps. it seemed at the time it was extended controls but last night it happened again. Stuck at full till i reboot.
I've seen it on an app by app basis and sporadically related to reboot events...
If it were a hardware issue, it wouldn't be varying from app to app... my money is on a software patch in the next few weeks/months.

solution
Hey guys,
I randomly experienced this problem as well. Rebooting provided only a momentary fix.
The solution: factory reset.
Then problem has not presented itself since.

factory resets suck. Guess its time to back everything up and do it before I get to far into this. I noticed it only happens after i play videos. Its random and happens so rare. Idk if it worth losing all my game data over.
Happened to me one time, and i rebooted.
I have factory reset so many times after changing kernels (before the stock wifi and kernel files where out).
Has not happed since.
I had this problem on a regular basis in the first 2 weeks or so after buying. However, I havent seen it a single time in the last week or so... not once, in any app (which seemed to make a difference for me before).
I dont know if it had anything to do with the 3.0.1 update, app udates or a combination of everything, but mine seems to have resolved its issue on its own.
While the idea of app updates may not seem terribly impactful, a lot of them do run in the background to some degree and it’s my theory that one (or more) of them were calling upon, using or referencing the 3.0 hooks into the audio hardware, causing it to misbehave.
If that is true, then the following list of apps and updates should provide a testable, reproducible way to get rid of the volume issue... or at least it may be a shot for anyone trying to troubleshoot the problem. Obviously, Im not suggesting that anyone run out and download apps that they don’t have, but I would recommend uninstalling (at least for the duration of the test) apps that aren’t listed below (and removing widgets that aren’t used in this config).
Again, just my theory… for anyone frustrated enough to merit such a test…

I love Gingerbread on the Pro, and love having it rooted (kudos to P3), but have noticed that its a little trickier to freeze unwanted apps (via Titanium Backup) without stumbling upon system conflicts.
Note - I use Launcher Pro Plus for my launcher app. I also use Handcent for SMS and K9 for all my email (4 gmail/google apps accounts); no MS Exchange

in my experience, freezing the authenticators seems to cause my motorola contacts to force close; e.g. I can't open any contacts. Not sure if skyrock messes anything up but probably check just in case

Agree. I have gone through several iterations arriving at the list that results with no force closes. So far, so good.
I've frozen DLNA as well, but it still seems to show up on my watchdog so I had to rename the apk to get rid of it.

As far as I know, there are 2 apps for DLNA. The first has the obvious name of DLNA but there is a second one where it has a different name but has "dlna" in the service name. Found using SystemApkManager
great list!
I followed this list and everything went great (but I did not freeze anything, I just cut & paste all apps on my SD card), except I lost my Messaging application (duh!) So I put the messaging APK back in the system/app folder and restarted, but the Messaging app still doesn't show in the app drawer. Any ideas? Am I supposed to "ADB Push" it?
Help Anyone?
Update: So I was trying to flash the TBH Gingerbread files via recovery & the flashing was aborted! But when I rebooted I found that my Messaging app has been restored Talk about lucky.

Help! How to ROOT the droid pro
Kudos for the list, and GB on Pro
I too am an avid Gingerbread Boy on Droid Pro. I had a Pro for almost 3 years, running v 2.3.4 (OTA updates from Froyo to GB 2.3.3, then OTW to 2.3.4), but never realized I couldn't root on 2.3.4 so I found a blog by Sarat Marudhuri, "Rooting For Dummies," and was all set to begin following his steps, including flashing back to 2.3.3.
This past Saturday, after a week of thinking my battery was becoming toasted as I couldn't maintain a good 3G signal and the battery kept wearing out in no time because when 3G returned and the Bloatwares all got happy and started up again, I was still avidly pursuing root. Sunday Page Plus had a major server shutdown, both web and phones, and my broker, Prepaid Online, told me all about it, and asked that I keep trying. At 20 minutes before 9 (central), I managed to score on the call in, and hit the "hold circle" with muzak for about 39 minutes, then got a recording stating the office hours, and the office was closed, so try tomorrow. A buddy of mine is manager of a corporate store, and had a Pro that someone had traded in, so he gave it to me. To my surprise, it was pristine in condition, and was still on 2.3.3! Now this evening, I've spent the past 5 hours working through Sarat's blog and yes, I am now officially "ROOTED" although I'm going to stick with the current version and avoid 2.3.4. I used his list to freeze at that Verizon Bloatware, and confirmed his list with your's!
Hats off to XDA-developers for giving us such a great resource to streamline our Android phones!
I'll work on updating OP this weekend 8/6.

I wanted to add this is definitely not for everyone nor necessary for everyone. This is a possible solution for 4.5.91 users who have experienced terrible battery performance with the leaked and/or modded builds.
Edit: Attached is screenshot of my last battery cycle. I would also recommend battery calibration.. you can find the app in the market. I find it works really well.

Would be nice if we could keep any additions to the list in the OP of this thread.
Ill add recommendations. I would like to keep this list as short and sweet as possible to maximize battery life and phone functionality at the same time.
Keep in mind my 60 hours was almost all idle time... little to no use but still an extreme improvement.

im on 3 days, 12 hours, 2 minutes and 10 seconds of battery life = full idle
im doing an battery calibration so i had the phone fully charged up to 100%, and have been just letting it set on my desk, wifi on, no SIM card installed.....slowly draining. i got 15% left now. this is without freezing anything. i imagine if i turned airplane mode on to cut down on the cell standby usage and wifi off, im sure i would get even more time out of it. freezing these apps doesnt seem like something i need to do.
This should be stickied
Thanks
Good point, can't believe I forgot to do this, thanks for the tip!

Most people will be using Titanium Backup.
There are alternatives like Bloat Freezer, but TiBu is a must have app.
You need root to use it.
Titanium Backup Pro. You need to have the pro version to freeze bloatware. Once you have TBP, you select the backup and restore tab, then short tap on any item you want to freeze. It will then hide that item from the system so that it can't be used or run, without actually removing it in case there are problems.
[EDIT] I guess i typed too slow, looks like someone beat me to it

Don't forget also that Home 2.3.4 can be frozen if you're using an alternate launcher.
Q: if I use photobucket and facebook apps, and freeze the above list, will the apps keep all functionality? I don't care about facebook photos showing in my gallery, I have that turned off. For example, Pulse news app keeps a feed of facebook links, and I set up facebook login through that app. Functionality should remain?
If you use apps, yes. They work for me.

Yes freezing disables it (basically blocks it from doing anything) in fact at the moment they are just taking up space, but didn't want to uninstall or delete anything until I tested the tab for a week see how it handles and if there are any arising problems because of them being frozen.
As I mentioned I use -Camera ICS- so I will be deleting the Camera app that came with the tab. Also what ever app you don't use I recommend freezing or deleting. Freezing apps you don't use on daily basis and just deleting the ones you don't use at all

I did something similar with my 3113 last night. I used a list that I found in another thread though that's in xls format.
I have a question though. I installed Steam through the play store. At login, all I get is a 2 tone gray / black screen. Is anyone aware of any of these apps possibly having an effect on the steam app or connectivity? I googled the problem, and I'm not the only person to have this happen. However, it wasn't just with this tab and the problem seems rare.

Meh. I've installed quite a few apps, including some games, and still showing about 3gb free. That script works really well, it is also why i'm not moving past 4.1.2, it doesn't work on versions beyond that, because of the storage structure( multi-user ability maybe?), or something.
I agree with the op. Even on my favorite ROMs, which have less bloat than stock, I need to freeze apps in order to free up ram.
