Meh too little to late, gave up waiting updated to 3.2 with my UK 3G xoom. Methinks Moto would be better served hiring the Tiamat team...LOL
Lordao

I'm sorry but how can it take that long to add in different locates the app on the market does it in 10seconds.
Motorola has no reason to delay it this long.
when people use my xoom and say yer i might get one.
I have to then reel of a speech about putting us firmware.
motorola why isnt the uk xoom a GED?

The only thing I can think they are putting in is support for non us external keyboards.
Other than that. Everything is in 3.2
In fact they should push them up to 3.2 anyway

I thought the Non US 3.1 is more like 3.2 anyway? Didn't they get SD Card functionality with 3.1 instead of 3.2?

If I remember correctly, the SD fix with non-US 3.1 is a Moto fix and not a Google one so, technically, it's not like 3.2 at all. It's 3.1 with a Moto SD fix.

and international keyboard support apparently
when people complained the uk keyboard was seen as a us keyboard layout, moto said that'd be fixed in an upcoming update

Too late Motorola, announced the Update for Canada "soon" been over two months and nothing not even a peep if it follows Europe or Asia or anything. I am ahead of 3.1 anyways. Been running 3.2 and happy no thanks to Motorola.

Stupid people complaining about the keyboard layout. They don't think of people in other countries who are then made stuck with an UK-layout while their country uses US-layout. Like here in The Netherlands. US-layout is what we use here, but the keyboard sold here for the Xoom is UK-version. If that turns into an UK-layout, then screw those yankers asking for UK-layout. They don't think of other people!

nop, 1st for Motorola Xoom 3G from Verizon, not even Xoom Wi-fi. Then other tablets.
For us to get 3.1 we have to ask acer, not google.
No and I doubt we will for a while. I hope Acer will build a good track record as to updating the software

I would dearly love if google split the OS into 2 "layers" the device manufacturer's layer, more like direct hardware stuff. Along the lines of EFI/BIOS and space for them to add specialized apps and UI, then the core OS stuff that was generic across all google devices. USB device support, widget control etc. Imagine if you had to wait for Dell before you could upgrade your copy of internet explorer if you wanted to? Screw that. We need to demand more control over our devices.

This is why I think I'm going to return my a500 and get a wifi xoom it'll get its updates straight from google where the Acer won't. I'm 100% unsure of acers track record of updates I have an atrix and motos updates for blur issues have been timely and good

You could always return it for in store credit then buy another A500 to "renew" your return period, then have another ever how many days to take it back. I love having Premiere Silver at Best Buy. Means I spend too much there, but I get 45 days to return, never a restocking fee.
According to Google they are trying to sort out fragmentation with icecream samwich. How long will that be I'm the pipeline though :/

Note to Acer: Unlock the bootloader and then we won't care how slow you are with updates. I'm really disappointed with this. I thought the whole point of Android was so we could get updates as soon as they are ready, not wait for the manufacturer to make them. Acer have my money now, what incentive do they have to update my device in a timely fashion. I might move mine on too.

I just did and I don't feel bad. If Acer decides to unlock the bootloader before I am able to buy a transformed or galaxy 10.1, then I will give it another shot.
Being a D1 user, I need strong dev support with lots of roms and hacks. Unfortunately this may not be in the A500's future.

Why not just link to the actual acer site. Much more reliable than another site claiming that they said it.

Dont think its a full official release to everyone. Because over at Moto Xoom side, select few individual received it. We will get update for acer too sooner or later.
Is someone able to adapt a version of the xoom update to update a rooted Iconia? That seems fairly doable because I think it may be minimum a month+ before after releases it. I called them last night and they had no official update or news all.

I even tried to buy an ASUS Transformer to play with but Singpore sold out two weeks ago (with keyboard version) and no stock is the stock reply. Coming soon mister.
THEN I read ASUS Transformers are receiving their 3.1 updates as I type.

non us japan 3.1 update here!

another popular xoom forum say japan have got the 3.1 update
According to one Russian forum this 3.1 Japanese update supports SD card! There is directory /sdcard-ext, which is actually SD card.
It has build number: H.6.4-15. Kernel 2.6.36.3 [email protected]#1 and it has Firmware configuration version string: GAS_ASIA_HUBKDDI_P007
interesting indeed...
maybe 3.2 for US xoom's will include sd support after all...?
see also here https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/410288 ?
Sooo, if you've updated to US 3.1 it's worth changing back to UK just for SD support.
For slower updates for 3.2 etc. I am thinking not still...
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Nah, if you've already updated to 3.1 and need SD support, you're better installing Tiamat kernel.
isn't the japanese version a wifi only?
does it matter? its sd card support
its been said that Non-US xoom will get sd card support.. and good thing is, it is suppose to be rolling out as we say..
Any chance we could see a full system dump?
so far, i think the rollout only started in japan today, with a "special" build for japan/asia
i think europe will follow in the next few days.

Relax Fellow US Xoomers
i think we the US Xoom will still get the SD support. it is just a matter of time. this 3.1 update was given to us about a month or so ago. and it is just now hitting the rest of the world xoomers. so let hang in there, as stated in other thread. the US Xoom is a GED (Google Experience Device) so all the updates are coming from google directly. and the Xoom will be the US Xoom's will be the first to get any direct update from google.
this 3.1 update that is now rolling to the rest of the world was the same 3.1 we got with a few tweeks from motorola which implemented the SD fix. that's becasue the international Xoom is not a GED. it is MED (Motorola Experience Device). so all updates will come from Google to Motorola to International Xooms. i can bet that we will get the 3.2 fix soon, and it will take another month or so before the rest of the world gets it. that's just how it's going to be.
the US Xoom is the best experence you will get from Google. and in the future i can see Google making some feature exclusive to US Xoom. that's all part of the GED. i am going to wait it out, becasue i still have a good 15GB on my Xoom, even after a total of 515 apps install. i keep my media in the cloud, so i don;t have to worry about media files taking up space.

Confirmed : Non-US 3.1 DOES enable SD Card support

Finally some good news for anyone outside the US!
"The non-U.S. 3.1 update does include SD card activation"
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/410341
Post from Motorola forum manager
Still no news on when we'll get it in the UK, but good news in general
More news on the Motorola forums:
Should get within the next few weeks
"Good news!
The 3.1 update for the Motorola XOOM™ outside the U.S. has started. Owners in Japan started receiving the update today (June 21). Owners in other regions can expect updates to start over the next several weeks until the roll out is complete.
Motorola has responded to the widely-expressed desire to have the SD card activated on Motorola XOOM. The 3.1 update for non-U.S. devices, in addition to many other improvements, also includes an SD card activation solution. Release notes for this update will be made available in each region. Please note that functionality varies by region."
So...when do US users get SD support?!
i would like for someone with a non US Xoom to confirm that it works.
good for those non-US XOOM owners...but I'm pretty sure that the largest % of XOOM owners are based in the US...so why push the SD support to all other regions excluding the US is beyond me....
I'm sure US will get it shortly after you guys...but it would be the smartest thing for Moto's Marketing to just push the SD support update to all XOOM owners in ALL REGIONS...

ahhh....because they were releasing anyway...and it was an easy way to get to the next step. My bet is the US will see 3.2 with SD card support...and bug fixes based on the NON US 3.1 release.
Dev for things like this never stops....they fork the tree and keep going. Sounds like the fork was....US/NON US. eventually the forks come back together.....and eventually they will fork again...with each new release.
It will be interesting to see if the 4g implementation is 100% HW based....most likely...but...who the heck knows...
from matt at motorola forums
The solution being used outside the U.S. is developed by Motorola. Non-U.S. Motorola Xooms are not GEDs. Given that they are getting updates later than the U.S. Motorola Xooms, we elected to provide our solution now vs. waiting for the Google solution.

I know this was a little far fetched for even me but I was really hoping that at the very least the SD support aka HC 3.2 update would come a lot sooner than later (was really hoping to have the SD support before I go on vacation this saturday)...oh well looks like I'll have the update either during or after my vacation...
It almost makes sense that they pushed the 3.2 Update/SD Support to the non-US regions 1st since US was the 1st to get the 3.1 update...still say that Moto should have put the foot down by now and just released the update to all regions...but I'm sure there is a ton of work to allow all features to be working and released in their own regions...
I'm really interested to see how quickly the 4G LTE hardware/software upgrade comes to us after the 3.2/SD support update is released? hhhmmm....

Well I certainly can I say Android development is new to me. With GED and non GED. I understand the base releases of the OS and its updates....and in general understand the Branded skinning that has to take place. Not sure if those terms are appropriate. I think its hard as a consumer sometimes to think that a company is NOT working on a fix to your problem....specifically. They are instead working on whats next....and included in the whats next is x% bug or issue fix from the previous release. That is, of course, if the bug is not destroying sales.. IF the bug is a show stopper, then all hands on deck to get it fixed. With the SD card implementation, it has been a future investment. Because the investment can come in 2 different flavors....GED and NON GED, the timeline is different. I 'assume' the Xoom is a GED and as such, cannot, by contract, implement a NON GED resolution....without the goodwill of Google.
To my knowledge 3.2 doesn't mention a SD card resolution. If it does, then the answer is clear. Otherwise...development continues. Dev of 4.0 is not waiting on 3.x. 3.1 was most likely not waiting on 3.0 to release...but, could be incorporating some 3.x fixes, etc.
Since Matt over in Motorola says this is a NON GED implementation....3.2 falls back into the guess category...where we can add as many fixes and features as we wish...and be radically disappointed when it does release.

Not entirely correct. XOOM in the US is a GED which gets updates direct from google and which as of now still does not have sd card support. Xoom outside the US are not GED and as such get updates from Motorola. Motorola is getting a hard time since google didn't implement sd support and so they are / have implemented their own fix. This means that those of us outside the US have to wait longer but we get the added advantage of Motorola devs going a few rounds with our updates before the bell. As such, the update we are about to receive (3.1) is the same google version with additional changes by Motorola, namely SD support.
This could be seen as a good or a bad thing, either way, its entirely possible (and quite likely right now) that the rest of the world will see official SD support before the US.

Hmm. It's a shame that Moto have to go down the path of implementing their own fix. Obviously this means that for the US Xoom to stay a GED they will need to wait for Google to provide a solution and CANNOT roll out their SD fix to US Xoomers.
Here's my take on things:
US gets 3.1 first, way ahead of Rest of World
ROW get 3.1 weeks/months later but with Moto SD fix
US will NOT get Moto SD fix
US gets 3.2 way ahead of ROW (with SD fix??? I certainly have not seen evidence that this is the case)
Moto probably ignore ROW for 3.2 and concentrate on ICS.
Looks like a mixed bag of good/crappy support for the Xoom.
I postulate that the SD card update will be available for download and/or installed when LTE upgrade happens.

probably - although moto fix and google fix for sd may be different things - meaning that as you said, moto will skip 3.2 or they'll be an EVEN LONGER delay in applying it to ROW
