[Q] Stuck on Glacier PVT screen - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone is stuck on a screen that says:
Glacier PVT SHIP S-ON
HBoot-0.86.0000
Microp-0429
Radio-26.03.02.26_m
eMMC-boot
sep 27, 2010 11:12:59
Fastboot
vol up
vol down
power
Bootloader
Reboot
Rebootloader
Power down
I have tried to do a factory reset and all that happens is it goes to another screen and says no image found. I am also not able to use my volume keys to select any items. My phone is automatically highlighting the Fastboot but does nothing when I hold down the power button to select. Does anyone know if this is a problem that can be fixed? My heart is broken, I love this phone. I have also taken out the battery and tried that about 50 times to no avail. I am not very tech savvy so if anybody has any thoughts, I will need simple directions.
Thanks you fro reading my post any help would be appreciated
T

Your volume down button is stuck, isn't it... Break it. (the button, not the phone) or try getting out with ADB (although I don't think you can skip past it with adb).

Android Issues

I purchased an HTC Magic in May, and have happily been using it for the last few months.
Last night whilst demonstrating the 'great' pattern lock feature, my phone locked to the point of requiring my Google username and password ("Too many pattern attempts!" error). This unlocking feature has worked in the past, but this time I have been completely unable to reset my device pattern. I am also noticing that the phone appears to almost instantly reject my details whether i have no sim card in or a full 3G signal.
This seems to be a common bug with Android, which has yet to be addressed by Google - see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3006
So in an attempt to repair my phone, I have held down the Home button whilst pressing the Power button - after a few seconds of seeing the Vodafone loading screen, I see an image of a white triangle with a yellow exclamation point next to a image of the HTC Magic. This stays on screen indefinitely (at least 5 hours when my patience ran out).
I am able to load into Fastboot mode (Hold Back and press Power), and the details I can read are:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G

<ACTION> Restart to HBoot

Could the hardware be faulty?
Am I able to recover my phone?
Is there anyway I can save the current state of my phone, to later retrieve text messages/pictures etc.?
If I want to root my phone with the new 1-click method, do I still need to fully recover the devicde to factory settings first?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Paul
It seems it is still under guarantee as Migic only came to shops in APR?
Just take it back for a replacement.

This is the recovery screen, I'm guessing you've yet to flash your recovery. I suggest trying Amon_RA's recovery over at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4029315&postcount=1
Since yours is a 32B, you will need the G version. So basically, follow the instructions up to:
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.1H.img
Click to collapse
Since yours is a 32B, you will be doing:
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.1G.img

instead. Once you are in, try doing a Wipe Data and see if you are able to get things working. Take note that the Wipe Data will result in you losing all your data (should be easy to get back your contacts/calendar/email if you have them synced).
Hope it helps!
if the device doesnt accept your gmail sign in, try the following:

I turned on the phone today, and it when to the fastboot mode directly.
I tried to use the volume and power buttons to restart the phone but it seems
the buttons does not work at all.
I also downloaded the RUU bell vision firmware and extract the .zip file to SD card.
Once the PC10IMG.zip loaded, the buttons were actually working, because it let
me to select and confirm to flash the file.
After the flash was done, the phone restarted and went into the fastboot mode
again.
now what? I tried almost everything on the forum, no solution.
any input helps, thanks
I wonder if your Volume Down button is somehow stuck down ? That would make it go into HBOOT like that.

If you've had the phone for less than a year, contact T-Mobile and see if they'll do a warranty replacement.

Stuck in Hboot with frozen keys

i recently rebooted my Vodaphone AU and was presented with a hboot menu. i have tried to navigate up and down this menu but the screen is frozen so cannot select any of the options. i turned my phone off by removing battery as power button was also inactive. i then powered back up and straight to hboot screen again, again all buttons inactive so cannot navigate up and down or select. removed battery and sd card then tried again, this time holding down volume button whilst powering up. still i have no joy, phone will not let me navigate or selct in boot menu and everytime i power down and up it is the same scenario. this is the message i have above boot menu.

Please can you give advice how to fix this.
Try going into adb and see if you can reboot from there, not to sure.what to can do really

Unfortunately it sounds like a hardware issue. Could be simply that the volume rocker is stuck or it has to be replaced.
Adb doesn't work in boot but fast boot does.
On my mothers old phone it would do the same and only way I could get it to boot was to run
Fastboot reboot
So you can try that but I would try carefully moving to volume rocker and see if stuck

To use the PD15 you need a goldcard. You have a Panache not a MT4G, so thats why you need a goldcard
Volume does nothing, its gonna turn on your phone.
What recovery do you have installed?
Are you HTC Dev Unlocked?
You dont look like you have the Enginerring Hboot installed?
Lastly, you posted in the wrong section

Thanks for the reply... It would be great if could let me know the path to post this question.
Also, I gone thru a forum in XDA and they asked to download the SimpleGoldCard tool. But i just formatted the memory card. after that i'm unable to getCID. This was because the phone was not able to be detected in my system. so the ADB was telling that "no devices found"..
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee helppppppppppppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.............
Some situation your in bro lol.
I know the panache was a mess too root
Do you have the drivers for your phone installed?
What instructions are you following?
What step are you stick at.
Are you rooted
Edit: nvm u have s off
So what recovery do you have

Bro.. I don't know anything about the stuffs you asked.
I looked at the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16858971&postcount=98
In 1st step it asks to enable USB debugging. But i'm unable to go inside my home screen at all.
So i skipped it and went to next - which is the GoldCard step. In that it asks to getCID, but my memory card is not getting detected when i placed it inside my phone.
So i dunno where to start and where to end.
I have installed the ADB and GoldCard tool. That's it. Couldn't go further after that..
I don't have a backup of panache drivers, did not backup anything from my phone.
Just replaced the touch screen glass and booted the phone.
I missed to tell one thing... few months back i unlocked my phone by giving it to a local technician. I dunno what unlock he did, but after that the "Mobilicity" doesn't show up when i boot up when the phone was working. So i was able to use other SIM card in my panache.
So please guide me where to start and how to get my phone work.
Thanks,
Shrrm.

Guess your problem might be the volume keys. Seems after replacing your screen, the volume down got stuck some how. Thats why whgen u boot up, it takes you right to bootloader mode. So try dismantling it and check the volume buttons that they are fixed correctly and that the are not pressed by the housing.

Hi ,
If you see my post, i was go inside the OS and able to see the home screen and see menus etc. I did use "fastboot reboot" command in the command prompt. I also tested the Volume Keys and i was able to adjust the volume. I played some default music and then adjusted the volume it was working properly.
Now i'm using the command prompt to boot into the OS using the "fastboot reboot" every time. I need to go inside the OS normally.
As a next step, i want to recover my HTC Panache to my old state or the new OS (i guess i can have a new android version in my HTC Panache since other users state that they had android 4.x )
Thanks,

That triangle thing is ur stock recovery, so if u haven't rooted ur device, try rooting it and flash a recovery and if u are rooted refresh a recovery then flash a custom Rom.
