With some of the replacement phones beign sent out with the new firmware included and the update out soon, I would like to get your thoughts on performance and also have a place for issues and opinions.
Does your experience match what the beta group experienced? Are you having any issues? What is your opinion on the phone with the update installed?
Thanks for your help.
I am trying to get dell to send me a replacement with the new firmware. I have called 3 times so far: First time it was 209, Second time it was a 16gb SD (I used it since I had 8 before), and now I am waiting for another replacement device to arrive. The rep said he would make a note in the dispatch that I want 212 and said if I don't get 212 then I can return the replacement device. I currently am slightly happy with it since dell cant say my warranty is void as their representative told me to switch the sd cards.
Long story short I want 212 and I am disappointed that there mobility center is only in india now, according to the rep, because the language barrier makes it tough to get your point across.
So I just got a new Dell Venue Pro on the 14th. Everything was going well for the first day but yesterday my data connection would not work unless on wifi. I could still receive pictures but no maps, IE, any app data etc. And another weird thing, when I turn wifi off in the settings menu, my phone continues to use the wifi...I am sending this phone back to dell on tuesday because I just ordered another DVP for .99 cents, I paid 79.99 for this one but I am in my buyers remorse period so dells bout to pay me my 79.99 back.
are there many problem-free DVPs?
I am on my third DVP, 16GB with .206, and for some reason it has been problem free. zero problems. I'm shocked. makes me wonder if there is a silent majority (or minority) of DVP owners that have had problem free phones. wish I knew.
my first DVP, an 8GB model with .206, lasted three months and was locking up 5 times or more on some days but I put up with it. the phone speaker failed and they sent my second phone, 16Gb with .206. it lasted only 48 hours before I got the memory card error message and it bricked.
I've only had the third one for about a week and zero lockups. It's too good to be true. I'm waiting for the first lockup.
No Wifi lock ups at all (212) ...
BUt that is the only thing fixed...
The headset volume sucks big time.. camera remains worst in the world... the lock screen unlocking lag comes at times...
Still not very happy... but great improvement with the wifi
Yes, my experiences seem to match the beta group.
- No wifi crashes. In fact, no crashes at all - the phone feels rock solid.
- Calls since the update appear to sound noticeably clearer and crisper. I haven't seen anyone else in the thread mention this, so curious if this has happened for others too.
- More consistent signal. The phone seems to be on 'H' more often. Will be interesting to see if reception is better the next time I travel to weak signal areas!
Overall, a very nice update
im still waiting patiently for the update
I just got the .212 on Friday w/ NoDo for At&t from the recent Dell sale of Unlocked phones for $300. Not one crash. I've installed at least 30 apps over wifi and set-up my Xbox live and 3 email accounts and have not had any problems.
My only wish list so far....
A mass storage function. Zune interface is kind of limiting. I will have to try that registry edit.
Custom .mp3 ringtone maker.
Headphones could be louder and jack could be flat.
Camera could be better in low-light.
A way to customize basic tiles beyond changing color.
I wish Dell was selling the 32GBs unlocked for $300.
I really like this phone. I'm just a little nervous about exclaiming its greatness after three days.
Just got the firmware update. The first think it does after finished updating is crash after I lock the screen....
Hopefully this does not happen again..
where are you guys getting these updates?
and are they explicitly from dell and how can i tell if its from dell?
Offical Dell Update
I got the update when connecting my DVP up, update available.
Had to take the battery out (hard reset) for it to work properly.
2nd attempt was successful.
firmware version 2250.1800.7392.212
what issues was this new update supposed to address? anyone?

No - it's a review of .212 beta.
Wifi now works flawlessly for me, which is the most important one. I get a full signal at my desk as is so I really can't comment on if that one is improved - considering my signal was very weak at home (fluctuating between 1 bar of 3G and 2 bars of GPRS), I'll have a better idea of that when I get there. I confirm that there are more camera options, although I haven't actually tried taking a picture.
So far, so good!
The only issue mu DVP had was the fluctuating signal strength indicator when I was in areas of moderate-low signal. So far after the firmware update my indicator stays the same. Hopefully this means the battery life will improve too. Love my phone!
Sent from my Venue Pro using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
A little while after the update, my phone was blacked out/off and I had to battery pull to fix that, but otherwise it's been awesome with the new firmware. I was in the middle of nowhere last night and my signal went from 1 bar G to 3-4 bars 3G and anywhere in between, but for the most part data was zipping along.
Downloaded an app, lots of photo uploads and FB app checking and checking radar maps.
WiFi has been on most of the time and works well - without freezing. Downloaded Tentacles finally.

Same experience here. This morning the phone wouldn't wake up when pushing the button. Had to pull the battery to get the screen back.

Just been speaking to Vodafone to check my order status, as they were supposed to call when more stock was due yesterday. Been told by one of the managers that they were told late yesterday that they now have no future stock dates, as HTC were seeking to fix 'hardware issues' with the phone. She used the word recall when referring to existing Vodafone phones, and then mentioned the camera explicitly.
So for those of us with unfulfilled orders the wait continues.
And for those whose phones see the world with a pink hue, a hint of things to come? Anyone else spoken to Voda in the last 24 hrs?
I thought the pink hue was a software issue, or at last that is what HTC were reported to have said a few days back and they said they would be releasing a fix. If it is a hardware issue I wonder if the same recall is going to apply to HD2s from other networks, like O2 for example? And if those already sold are going to be swapped?
I'm not too fussed anyway as the hue on mine is barely noticeable, but I have seen photos from some where it's frankly terrible. Despite the quality of a camera on a phone being fairly low on my list of important features, if I owned one of those I would be interested in a swap.
I assume the Vodafone dont know what is really happening, I dont think HTC would lie about this huge issue.
After a week of tests on my handset that I sent to HTC repairs. HTC are returning it back to me without them doing anything apart from installing logging software that identifies the sms issue.
It has been explained to me several times that it [camera] is a software issue that can only be fixed with a patch that will be released as soon as they can, they are working on it.
I had a call from Voda yesterday (since I emailed a complaint to the UK CEO, I get regular update calls lol) to say that the stock they were expecting hadn't turned up and that the next delivery *should* be 2nd December
Edit: got another call this afternoon from the nice girl who is keeping an eye on my order to inform me that they may get some earlier than the 2nd, she's going to call me back on Monday.
I have a HD2 from Vodafone and mine is ok ok no problems with the camera. Got it last week
Only yesterday, I was told 11th December by a Vodafone rep, middle of next week by a T-Mobile rep, and possibly monday by an O2 rep.
All of these companies were meant to give me a call as soon as the hansets came in. It turns out I've missed 1 delivery by T-Mobile, 2 by O2, and 3 by Vodafone even though I ordered with them some 3 weeks ago!!!
I also thought the camera was an issue that HTC are working on. If there was to be a recall t would be for all phones, as Vodafone ones aren't branded.
Damn this is turning out to be a hard phone to get.
I had put an order i with Voda Business and voda general public. The latter said it would be with me by Sat, i called on the Friday to confirm and was told that a small batch came in but wasn't available to their department therefore wasn't available for me and they projected the next batch would be in around the 11th of Dec.
I then called back to make my feelings heard and was told that one would be with me by Monday and was already in transit. This it turns out was the phone i ordered through the business department which must have priority over regular customers.
I haven't heard anything regarding recalls etc but haven't spoken to them since Friday, so i'm really hoping it will be here on Monday. If not i won't be happy!!!!
Just to confirm the 11 december date. Vodafone UK informed me on 27/11 (which I had been previously told was the date the HD2 shipment where due into their warehouse) that this will not now be until 11/12.
However if there are hardware issues this may well drift into 2010.
I'd hazard a guess the delay is due to some of the bugs noted in this forum seen on the first shipped ROM.
As many people have said here - the average mobile consumer expects their device to just 'work' when it comes to the basics (calls, sms etc). Vodafone aren't doing their own ROM but instead taking what HTC have provided; this means bugs and all. Trouble is while the average WM user who has paid £500 from Expansys etc would come here to look to fix such bugs, the average Vodafone user would be on the phone / back to the Vodafone shop complaining that their phone is "rubbish, doesn't work, can't use it, refund please". I'd therefore guess this is why they are delaying accepting HTC shipments - until their own QA people are happy.
For the record - while I understand this view - I personally would MUCH prefer them to just send me a phone and I'll update it to later firmware when available. But that's just my personal preference! Guess such things are the price you pay when a high end tech gadget like the HD2 attempts to make it into the mainstream consumer market - you're never going to please everyone. On the one hand HTC should have probably done a bit better with their QA, on the other hand no doubt they were under pressure to release. Whichever way they could have jumped their would have been complainers!! I mean, the people on here complaining about basic bugs - would they have been happier if the phone was delayed until say March next year?! Maybe some would've been, but probably not most.
IMO HTC have to keep people on-board by providing updated ROMS / Hotfixes quickly - weeks not months.
Just my opinion..
How long do these hotfixes take to come? I mean, shouldn't some HTC programming team be able to fix all this in ONE DAY?? (*providing it is software problems of course).
I am stuck here with a faulty handset that O2 can't replace because they have no stock. I'm just wondering whether to ditch it and go with another manufacturer. Even if it was working perfectly (which I somehow doubt will happen) it's still a total nightmare typing on the virtual keyboard. I have to correct virtually every word I type and for a previously hardcore texter, I have actually come to loathe texting. It has become a chore!

Sounds like the HD2 isn't for you re. txt'ing. I felt similar around 2 yrs ago (in that I hated touch screen phones for txt'ing) but have since come round. Each to their own.
Re. the hotfixes etc, sadly turning them around in a single day just isn't realistic. Maybe on a home-brew app, but it is with these sorts of timelines which lead to the mistakes in the first place. I'd say you'd be looking at a turnaround time of 2 weeks MINIMUM from bug identification to public release, most probably longer. While it certainly isn't ideal I'd be happy if they turned things round in <1 month.
I know, I know, not ideal the bugs are there in the first place, but such is life!
hmm... I can undestand what youre saying and I can agree in some of it. But if it is a hardware error with the camera, is dosen´t fit under the decription "bug" in my opinion
As to whriting on the HD2 I totally disagree, it´s so nice and i whrite very fast on it

Hi Madindehead - is there a way of checking my vodafone internet usage? Cant seem to find it online on my account page?! I know there is a fair usage policy of 500MB but when I checked my phone this morning the notification tab stated I had been connected to the HSDPA network for 6 hours?! am I right in thinking this is just the connection being kept alive?
Also is there any software out there that can monitor my 3G connection?
I wouldn't worry too much about the FUP to be honest, I don't know anyone who got told off for going over. Plus I think that if everybody tries to stay below it they'll never change it, on the other hand if the majority of people goes over it they might "officially" raise it.
Got mine this morning, woot. Would have had it yesterday but Royal Mail suck...

Correct, I ordered mine on-line last night and have an RM tracking number for it to be delivered tomorrow morning
I got mine from Vodafone yesterday, not branded in anyway at all.
My mate got his too from Vodafone on Monday.
Problems I have so far
1. Can't send SMS messages at all!
2. Bluetooth wont switch on
No issue with the camera so far, battery life not too bad.
Can't get any twitter or facebook updates to notify me when screen locked, but then I havent read the manual!!
Lovely phone though

You're lucky then! I've ordered through Vodafone business, and they can't access the online stock (why not?) and won't get their own stock until 14th December.
Frustrating.
Were you happy with all the features of the N1?
Which country and what network are you using it on?
Do you feel that you wished you had waited a little longer for the, say, iPhone 4g?
I am still awaiting delivery - and so just wondering if this is a phone which will be worth keeping for years - or should I just give it to my dad and wait for the next Iphone or other phones yet to come out (didn't help with some of the features not being enabled in the UK ), though something tells me when I see it, I will want to use it ^^.
Without a doubt, completely and totally worth it. I've had a G1 for the past year, rooted and running Cyanogen's ROMs for most of that time, and this is a huge step up.
I'm one of the lucky ones, I suppose, as I have none of the touchscreen or 3g issues that have been reported. The only problem I have so far is that it SEEMS as if the stock music player stops playing when you turn the screen off unless you use the stock headphones. Not so swift...and I don't see options to change this.
I'm on T-Mobile in the US.
Nexus One FTW!!
Excellent phone after some tweaks.
cyanogen 5 beta 2 rom (JIT disabled as seemed a bit buggy).
corgal and motocal along with android agenda widget to get fully integrated exchanged sync with calendar and company directory.
klaxon alarm clock
home++
digital clock widget (very clean)
spotify (great music program if supported in your country)
n1 torch (strobe is just brilliant)
ICE on lock screen to display emergency contact stuff
rings extended to fully customize all rings and notifications
locale (this **** is genious!)
running great on telia 3g in sweden. Im guessing its around 2-3 years before they have full 4g support in sweden (only central stockholm at present) so 3g is fine for now.
My life has been all unicorns and rainbows wince I bought the nexus one.
Haha good stuff. Just got an e-mail 5 minutes ago stating my Nexus One has shipped, so, fingers crossed - Friday I have it !
Couldnt love mine more
It's a work of Art, Innovative, and an Awesome device to start out 2010 with!!
As someone coming from Symbian and WM, this phone has met all of my expectations and more. It's fast, has some really great applications like Dolphin and Layar, and is just fun to use. Definitely not the perfect phone, but the best one I've used thus far. (In fact I'm posting from money right now.)
However, I'm on ATT so no 3G for me, but I'm around wifi almost constantly so that mitigates this most of the time.
The ladies get wet when I show them the Dildroid app. The 3.7 AMOLED screen makes a BIG difference over the G1 and myTouch. My life has changed ever since I got the N1 I get laid all the time now. My only regret the fact that I didn't use a condom that one time and got chlamydia.
sure
its worth it. from iphone to nexus. i do kinda miss my apps and how i get them precracked and free for my iphone.
but then again, tmo's 3g is all im after(iphone 3g dont get 3g on tmo). i got the nexus unlocked for 529$ + tax. so i dont need to pay 25$extra every month for the data plan for another two years.. 25$ times 24 months is 600$ <----makes the nexus virtually free
well worth it!
i do have the grandfathered 5.99tzones and it works! 3g all day!

And to the OP's question, yes.
i would have sex with this phone if i could
that should sum up my experience
I am with everyone else - purchased unlocked and switched to T-Mobile....so far this phone is outstanding. Android as an OS has impressed me thus far (outside of the corporate calendar oversight) and the build quality of the phone is quite good compared to some of the phones HTC has been pumping out in the last few years.
Love it even though my phone will arrive tomorrow at my office
I did play with my friends before I made the purchase but what can I say I'm a huge HTC fan and this one is by far the best phone in my eyes
@7Wonders: What did you search for, or where did you find ICE for the lock screen?
yes it was worth it.
it is the best phone i'Ve ever had. The speed, the screen, the feel and cyanogen is what i love!
im in germany on o2
It's very good, far and away the best mobile I've ever owned.
However, it's not perfect; the screen seems to lose calibration randomly, the battery life can be great one day, and rubbish the next, and it has the stupid HTC thing of the volume buttons still working when the device is locked!
There are more little quirks, but they're more issues with Android I guess (crappy media support - I shouldn't have to convert my divx/avi/mkv files if I want to play them on the N1), but all in all I'm quite a hard person to please, gadget wise, and overall I'm very happy with it.

Its my 5th days using the Vibrant and I am still within 14 days return window. Number of issues keep me thinking just return the device for full refund. I have been using my jailbreak/unlock iphone 3g for years and fine. Pros and Cons against using the iphone 3G.
Cons.
1. GPS/Compass does not work most the time regardless of the few fixes I tried. I need to use GPS often and iphone GPS never had single issue. I can live without compass.
2. No skype, I am a regular skype user and need to use the app. I know there is a skype app out there kinda sort of works. But I need something official.
3. Battery life seems only last less than a day and charge to full takes longer time compare to iphone.
4. I am not a gamer but iphone games seem much more better.
Pros.
1. I get nice 3G speed at home and no longer need to WiFi to home network.
2. I only paid $150 after rebate when I am only 16 months into the contact.
3. Its a lot faster than the iphone 3G, data faster, processor faster. No lags so far.
4. Barnacle WiFi on 3G is nice although iphone have MyWi but I never could get 3G speed. Just hope the MTU issue will fix soon rather than keep twisting the client MTU.
If I return this phone, then I can try T-Mobile's first HSPA+ Phone... whatever phone that is... hhmmm.... what should I do?
There is an "official" Skype app.
Edit: Nevermind, I didn't know it only works on Verizon phones.
I love mine. Do what you need. .. nothing beats this IMO. GPS work's great for me and its just awesome. Try nova for games, also asphalt 5, modern sandstorm, hero of Sparta. Etc.
Don't know what to tell ya, I love mine.

The Vibrant then back to an iPhone 3G? Really?
That's a total downgrade.
What area are you in that's giving you the GPS problems? Maybe you should try to find someone in your area with the Vibrant and see if they are having issues too...
The funny thing is, it's working just fine for a lot of us....
But dang really? 3G is like minor league compared to the Vibrant. Trust me I know, I've had the 2G since day one, 3G's (2 of them) and the 3GS (2 of them)...never again will I submit myself to communist apple phones. Only macbook pros
I was in the same boat as you and found out I had a defective device. I exchanged mine on the 13th day to give it one more try, the new phone is performs flawlessly, except for the gps would take a little longer to find a satellite until I performed the second fix now its fine. I don't use Gps that much so its not a big deal for me. The battery will be the same as all high end smartphones especially with that awesome screen. I usually unplug the phone at 7:30am and it last until 11pm at night, mind you I make a few calls mostly its games and streaming podcasts and heavy web usage. As for the games there are many out there but not available on the market for some reason. If you decide to keep the phone pm me and I will tell where to get them.
How much do you trust Samsung?
For me, the risk boils down to whether to trust Samsung to fix the GPS. At least there now has been quasi-official (is a tweet official?) acknowledgement from the manufacturer that there is problem and it is being worked on. The conventional wisdom is that there will be a firmware update, and that it will cure the problem. But there are no official promises of a complete solution.
I am not yet convinced that the GPS problem is entirely a firmware problem, and Samsung has not said so officially. If the underlying problem is unreliable output from the new combo GPS chip, then a firmware update may not fix the root cause, but only mitigate the symptoms.
It does not seem likely that we will know the answer to that before the 14 days run out for the OP (and for me.) One option is to return the phone for a refund, then buy another later if there is good news on a real GPS fix. I, too, got a pretty decent deal, in my case on a T-Mobile upgrade from a G1. I might not get such a good deal later on a repurchase, but the marginal upfront cost should not be the determining factor. This is a two-year commitment, and I would hate to be stuck with a defective GPS on this high-end device.

Well articulated and way of putting that across and I would have to agree. Samsung went fairly all out on all the specs on this phone (some argue they could have made the case metal a la iPhone but the lightness is amazing in my eyes, less weight equals less impact when I drop it) and it would be quite a shame to see the actual gps hardware to be defective. I doubt that it is truly, and would be very surprised if it is not addressed within the first ota firmware update. Truly the only way is up from here on this phone.
Your money, you decide.
Hi guys, I'm a current Focus owner which I love. However I'm about to order a new Dell laptop and can get a DVP off contract for a discount. My big question is if it's really worth it? I know there's issues (or has been) with the phone, and firmware updates etc. IF I get the phone I will most definately be switching from the 16GB to a 32GB card, so I need to know if there's still massive issues associated with switching cards like that. It looks like the WiFi problem has been resolved, but looking in the other forums I get split results with about half saying that upgrading the card will kill the phone eventually (if not right away) and the other half saying that they've had no problems. Please gentlemen! What's the consensus?
Lemme put this another way... The DVP will be either a back up phone or my primary if I like it more than my Focus. OR I can get a free XBOX 360. I'm leaning towards the DVP but don't want to get it if it's just gonna brick when I swap the cards (or sooner).
I would say its worth it, its got a lot going for it. Most of the issues have been fixed already, and/or any small issues will be fixed/updated with mango thats being pushed out within a week. Only thing I have a problem is with is dell customer service, i cant ever get useful info about of them when asking about my order thats been delayed for almost 3 weeks.
Thanks for the input! Yeah... Dell CS... I went round and around for 4 days with them before they finally figured out that I couldn't get the free Xbox promo AND the discounted DVP. Hence my conundrum. Any input out there about swapping cards? Is there still a high brick percentage using a sandisk 32GB class 2?
I went from an 8gb to a 32gb card the day it arrived back in May. Have had no issues.
Would I order again? Based on hardware: yes. It's probably the most well-put together phone i've ever owned (I generally get 2-3phones a year). Absolutely love it.
Based on the company/carrier combo: No. Dell has repeatedly dropped the ball as far as updating the device and keeping customers in the know. Also, at&t is always one of the worst as far as pushing things out to devices. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the .212 firmware and mango.
^^^^^What he said. I've owned a 32gb DVP since it was first released and absolutely love it. I've had zero issues since I unboxed it. I didn't have to go through the returns or waiting and wondering about delivery/shipment, so I can't really complain about the customer service. I had called once when it didn't seem to want to activate with the new sim card, but they resolved it quickly.
I'd buy it again.
for $199 it is totally worth it.. (that is how much it should cost)
every time we order a new PC in the office we pick up a phone too.
After drooling over the Note via virtually by watching a ton of youtube videos as well as reading up on everything about it I could find, I finally was ready to buy it (after had borrowing the money to get it). I knew I wanted the GT-N7000 version over the US AT&T model, mainly because of the better processor and I really like that Video Maker app, as well as a bunch of other things. I ordered my International Note through Amazon, with Prime Shipping! I placed the order for it last Wednesday afternoon, but it was not scheduled to arrive until Today, Monday. Woke up early, just to make sure I was handed the package and it wasn't thrown to my front door, ... I immediately felt something was wrong when I saw the box. It was in a longer than needed rectangular box, with both sides pushed in, to where you could actually reach in and pull the phone out of the box.
When I opened the box, too look at what was in there, first thing I noticed was that the phone box was not plastic wrapped, second thing, the AT&T logo on the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't really upset as I should of been, but the feeling of waiting over the weekend for Monday to come started back up again, as I knew I was going to have to return this phone, and wait for it to go through the process of mailing it back, waiting for the refund to go through, then reordering it from someone else, and waiting for it to arrive again.
The dealer I bought it from was MasterDeals Inc on Amazon. I will definitely not be buying anything from them in the future.
What a huge letdown this was, after having that NOTE FEVER for several weeks, then for it to end this way was a big disappointment. I hope the next one that gets shipped to me is the correct model.
I got to hold it for but a brief instance, my baby and I will meet again soon.
Sorry to hear that, it should all get sorted out as the product you purchased was a N-7000 and not the ATT Note.
Man that really sucks I am planning on ordering another note from amazon for my wife and I want to make sure that doesn't happen to me. I just noticed the reseller who is selling through Amazon that I was planning on buying through has two different pictures one for att and one for international ill have to be careful. Good luck on your return I hope they get you all sorted quickly it really is an amazing device.

When ordering online they don't specify which version it is? I'm sorry to hear that ... regardless, I'm sure it'll get straightened out.
UPDATE: 4/6/12
After what happened, which I posted above, I am glad to say I am now a VERY HAPPY GT-N7000 Note owner.
How it happened.
After opening the package which I had received on Monday 4/2/12, I immediately packaged it back up and sent it back, due to the fact that the seller had sent me the AT&T model, which I did not order.
Amazon's customer service emailed me the pre-paid UPS postage to include on the box, and I went to the nearest UPS drop off location and sent it. This was about 3:45 pm.
On Wednesday, at 12:00 PM, I had received a email from Amazon saying they had received the return, and were processing it and would email me back once the refund was submitted. That evening around 6:00 pm, I had received the email saying the amount I spent on the phone, $609.99, was being refunded back to the card I had used for the purchase. That was good enough for me.
3 Hours later or so, I reordered the Note from Yapper Wireless on Amazon. This was after receiving response emails from them that they were in fact selling the GT-N7000 model, so I placed the order around 9:00 pm that night.
Since I am a Amazon Prime member, I only had to pay $3.99 to have my order sent via 1 day shipping, which I did, as I wanted it before the weekend.
Thankfully, it did arrive this morning, Friday, at 11:00 am. Keeping my fingers crossed, I opened the box, and immediately seen that it was in fact the GT-N7000 WHITE model.
The phone box was not plastic wrapped, and after looking in the box, I noticed why, the seller took out the international plug adapter, and replaced it with the US Samsung one, which I was happy about.
Next I installed a screen protector, which I am not sure I will keep on, then installed my 32GB Samsung Class 10 Micro SD card, and installed my Straight Talk sim card. Followed the instructions on the Straight Talk website, activated the sim, picked the $45 a month Unlimited plan, and entered the APN settings that can be found on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487293 Thanks to Hirudin for posting it.
I first tried a call, Worked.
Text message, Worked.
Took a pic and sent it (MMS), Worked.
Again, I was VERY HAPPY! It's feels good to have unlimited minutes again, after being SO limited as I was with my 300 minutes a month $35 Virgin Mobile plan.
Next step, downloaded Speed Test to test the network.
Turned off WiFi (of course), Began Test.
I noticed in the status bar, It was going from 3G to H+, but then stayed on H+, this test was taking inside my house.
Results:
3.1 MBPS Down
1.2 MBPS Up
I am located in Fremont, CA .. the Bay Area.
I again, VERY HAPPY with these speeds, I would be lucky to get 100 KBPS Down with Virgin Mobile, which of course runs off of Sprints network.
I then went to the Google Play store on my computer, signed in with the email associated with my phone, and went to Devices under account settings, I was once again VERY HAPPY to see that it shows my carrier as AT&T!
The phone is on the charger now, I haven't really got into it yet, but I can say that this is definitely the BEST phone I have ever owned, and yes I did once own and use the iPhone 4. I am so excited to FINALLY have my very own Note, and I can't wait to start using it and customizing it to my liking. I look forward to May 22, when Samsung announces the S III, and hopefully whatever specs this new phones has, hardware wise, will make it into the Note 2. Quad Core/2GB Ram/12-16 Megapixel Camera/etc. I just hope the Note 2 at least keeps the same size screen, if not go slightly bigger!
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my experience with everyone, and yes, the Note/Straight Talk combination works flawlessly! Highly recommended if you don't like spending $100+ on your phone bill.
Long Live the Note/Hail to the King Baby!
Gotta love those happy endings.
And don't worry about the phone being on 3G, mine does the same. It switches to H+ when it starts pulling data, and goes back to 3G when it's finished; i think it's a power saving measure.
Wow from disaster to awesome, all sorted within the week. Sounds like you and amazon worked really fast to fix the problem. Congrats on getting the right note and I could almost feel your optimism while reading through lol!
Too many times ppl get hung up on bad mouthing a company due to a problem and take ages to get it fixed. You on the other hand named and shamed vowing never to buy from again (same thing I would do) and then got on with getting your phone
There really is no going back to a smaller device for ppl who use their phone other than calls. Loved my Dell Streak for year and a half and now I love my note. 5" is the future.
Enjoy your device buddy wd.

Yeah, I am glad it all worked out in the end. I know what you mean about not going back to a smaller device, I don't think I could do it, or at least I know I wouldn't want to.
Actually it bounces back from H+ to 3G as soon as your phone is idle for a couple of seconds or your throughput is below a certain threshold. This is controlled by the network and not your phone. The wireless medium is shared between many users, this is done to free up the limited resources for the users actually needing H+ and throw back everyone who doesn't need it to 3G.
