Samsung software update crashes every boot - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Added my login information to the samsung update account so it could check for O/S updates and now the samsung update app crashes w/ a force close 3-4 times every time I re-start the tablet.
I tried to delete the info in the accounts manager and it says i have to wipe the tab to remove this information..
I there a way to manually delete this information in the file system?

I have a similar issue, I just force close it, it pops up one more time (a total of two times as a popup) and after I force close it the second time it goes away till I reboot it again.

Same for me as well. It doesn't occur all the time, but it happens the majority of the time.

The more I use the 10.1.. the more I feel like it is a Kludge.. I have to use different browsers for different websites...
Some hang, some force close.. some don't even open the page.
I'm thinking of getting a Macbook Air and just being done with the tablet thing for now..

Settings-Applications-Manage Applications-All Find samsung account, click it and clear data. Reboot tab and problem is gone. If you click check for system update the issue comes back but you can just repeat the process again.

Settings/Applications/Manage Applications
Uninstall the updates for both Samsung applications in the list, and reboot, and enjoy.

[Q] Problems updating apps

I keep having trouble updating apps. For instance now it tells me that there are 3 apps that need updating. I tell it to update, it downloads the update then it says "attention required. tap here".
I tap and it says "can't play or download. There's a problem with the license".
These are just free apps and not large and I'm not letting it lock mid update or anything like that. I've worked around it by deleting the apps reinstalling, but it keeps happening the next time it needs to update.
Any ideas?
I had a problem like this, and it's a really poor design of this page; Where it says 'attention required' on the download page, hold down and a context menu will appear with 'retry' and 'cancel'
I have retried over and over and it just never completes. I deleted the update and I restarted the phone and still the same thing.
Getting a bit annoying
Still can't update any apps. Am I the only one?
Are they trial versions? Seems to be an issue where an update is pushed out for the paid version that doesn't apply to the trial, and the update doesn't go through but you still get notified about it. That's what I've heard (secondhand) from MS support, anyway.
Thanks for the reply. I deleted just about all the apps and it looks like updates started working again. Of course when I deleted the apps it wouldn't let me reinstall apps again, even one's I've paid for. This seems to have settled down after some time and a couple phone reboots.
All in all the whole marketplace and updating thing seems like a real mess from what I have seen, even when things are working right.
I hope we get some updates sometime soon.
Thanks again

willp2, did the apps reinstall when you synced your phone or did you have go to marketplace to redownload them? I'm having the same problem. Except one of the apps is one I purchased but never got to download because of the error.
I had to re-download them. It wouldn't let me at first, but after rebooting the phone I was able to redownload from the phone. I was never able to reinstall from the Zune desktop.

App updates

Seems that every time I restart my phone I get the same set of apps that need to be updated. This happens no matter how many times I restart the same apps will appear again as having updates available. It is like they forget they have been updated or maybe they were not really updated when I pressed update. Anyone else having this?
I infrequently find the Market showing updates at the top of the list of My Apps, but when I select the app, it doesn't have the update option available. This is usually just after I have updated that same app.
For me, it usually goes away after awhile. It doesn't bother me too much.
Delete the cache from market, this sometimes helps

I encountered this problem too and does not help by clear the market cache. Simply uninstall and re-install the apps will solve the problem.

Lag, Task Manager and Settings Freezing up, Connectivity issues

I just got my white 16gb yesterday afternoon. I've been experiencing lag since the first minute (scrolling through the market, flipping through pages of the home screen, etc.). After downloading some of my apps, every time i open up the Task Manager or App manager i get a "Unfortunately, Task Manager has stopped" or "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" message after a few seconds without touching anything. Went to verizon store this morning, the lady saw the issue and said she had to wipe the phone to reset it to factory settings. After that was done, she said if it happens again, I could come in tomorrow (July 12, actual launch date) and get it replaced with a new one. I asked her if she could reserve one for me (since they will probably be sold out quickly) just incase the problem comes up again, but she told me she couldn't reserve anything :/
Just now while i was downloading some apps from the market, my 4G connection dropped to 1X and all of my downloads gave me errors. I had to disable then re-enable Mobile Data to get it to work again.
Now after installing my apps, the same original problem is occurring. I've only installed a few regular apps (facebook, chrome, evernote, dropbox, etc.) and a few ebooks, but the Task Manager and App Manager in Settings keep freezing up!
Now I'm not so excited about this phone anymore :/
Has anyone been having these problems too? or am I just the unlucky one?
Me too, but not as severe..

I just started experiencing this when ever I open "Manage Applications". I click menu then manage apps or if I go in to menu, system settings, application manager, the manager loads, shows all my apps and within seconds freezes, then black screens and I can't do anything, after a few minutes I get the message that "Unfortunately, system has stopped" then it closes and I get back to the phone fine. I have a lot of apps installed and am rooted but it appears that you are not so I don't know what the heck is going on.

EDIT - It's happening when I run root explorer also. I have log viewer light and can filter it down to errors. Appears I am getting some kind of "Out Of Memory" error in the log when ever this happens. Weird. I can't record the log because that crashes everything and dumps me out to the lock screen. I'm not done playing around with it to try and get more answers but I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to flash back to a non-rooted stock, reload all my apps and configs then see if it starts happening again. Just so I can convince myself it's not a root issue regardless of the OP.

[Solved] Play store closes immediately when opening.

I ran into this problem on my girlfriends S4 last night. When you click on the Play Store icon to open it, the program flashes up for about half a second and then shuts down. No matter how many times you click the icon, the program will not open.
I first tried to clear the data and cache on the app itself. This allowed the Play Store to open up but the first time I would try to update an app, it would crash again. Apparently this issue is pretty common with Android phones but there is a lot of misinformation about how to fix it. Many people were recommending a factory reset or restoring from a backup. Luckily it is a little easier than that.
The way to fix this is go into Settings>More tab>Application Manager, scroll right to select ALL applications. Scroll to the very bottom of the list and you should see an app named "Downloads", or "Download Manager". Select it, and then change it from "Disabled" to "Enabled". For some unknown reason it is getting switched to disabled. It has to be enabled for the Play Store to work.

S7 Edge Notification Delay and A Lot of Other Problems

Recently I am having notification delays with my S7 Edge G935F. I have read through some posts on this forum and other sources and can't figure it out.
Here are some of the problems:
1. notifications are often delayed for more than thirty minutes
2. if I want to manually check notification when it does not pop up, unlocking the screen does not make the notification show, I have to actually launch the specific app to see the notification
3. It is more than just not showing the notification, when I am using some instant messaging apps (like WeChat), I can't see new messages coming in while the app is running in the front. I have to press the home button and get back to home screen, then re-enter the app, then the messages show up. This happens to many other apps as well.
4. Other things go wrong as well. For example, my Android Auto was set to launch whenever I get into my car and car bluetooth is connected. It is also delayed, by more than hours. It often launches long after I finish my driving and get back home sitting on my couch.
5. Downloading new apps from Play Store has problems as well. It downloads to 100% and just stops there, it does not start installation. I have to use Settings->App to kill Play Store and re-open it to "refresh" it, then it starts to install.
6. After installation of new app, it does not show up on my screen or app draw inside my launcher. I can see the app installed in Play Store. I have to kill launcher and re-open the launcher to make it "refresh" the app list then I can see new app inside the app draw.
I have also tried a lot of ways to fix it:
1. change app to not battery optimized -> didn't fix it
2. update firmware -> didn't fix it
3. factory reset -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
4. flash to a different firmware (official ROM in different regions) -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
5. use third-party ROM (Lineage OS) -> completely fix the problem, but too buggy to use
I can see the general idea of what's going wrong, some events happened (connected to car Bluetooth, new messages coming, app finished downloading, new app installed, etc.) and the system is not responding correctly. I am not very familiar with Android development but I feel like something is wrong with the "event handling" or "event raising" inside Samsung's Android system.
Please post reply if you have any idea or are facing the similar problems.
EDIT:
The phone is on Android 7.0, Build Number NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQER
You've stated that flashing the custom ROM solved the problem, so maybe you should try flashing a different rom that's a bit more stable.
From personal experience i can recommend the SuperStock rom. It's stock (obviously) and it's debloated and very stable with pretty good battery life as far as i remember.
there is some info about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/want-to-root-custom-one-stay-stock-t3631098?styleid=18 (ignore the root part).
Hi,
did you find any solution to this problem ? cause i got the same problem, and i'm going crazy... few months already and can't figure out what is the problem...
the temporary fix i've found is disabling the "google app" in application manager... it fix the problem but i can't use any Google app features (and i like using them...).
I've found few ppl experiencing the same problem searching on internet but no one with a real fix...
if someone more experienced can help debut this it would really mean a lot...
I think it is the battery optimization setting. You may check the settings>battery>advanced settings>optimize apps. You need to keep the apps un-optimized if you want the notifications and sync.
Also, you may check if Sync is on or off.
If these two does not solve, factory reset if you are on stock ROM. If on a custom ROM, you may check a different ROM
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually none of this works... The only thing that "fixes" the issue is disabling the Google app in the application manager... That's why its so weird...
The problem started around July/August 2017 for me...
As i discovered that disabling Google was fixing the problem, i assumed that they'll correct it by updating the app... But only one update of the app was ok, all others would make the problems reappear...
Messing with battery optimization settings doesn't change anything for me... Factory reset as well... The problem comes back as soon as the google app gets updated...
Try clearing cache and deleting data from the Google app the time the problem occurs
already tried... doesn't help at all...
