as for ops6047 (welcome to the noob hate community)
as for your hd2, try flashing the original windows mobile rom, or if you already have hspl 2.08 installed install a custom rom just to make sure your hd2 hasnt visited the RIP state.
Have you fixed your hd2?

Do you need help .let us know were you are with the phone so i can help you .very difficult to brick a phone.
What exactly is going on with your phone? As long as your phone boots into Tri-Color recovery and reads as a USB when you plug the USB in, you're fine...and even then there's still plenty of possibilities to fix it, I've had my phone not even read USB and after trying tons of different ways it finally fixed itself.
I highly doubt your phone is broke, let the community here know what's going on and someone is bound to get you going; most people are helpful but as always, there's asshats like malaeus that ruin communities.

Please provide a bit more information on what exactly you did resulting in your phone's current condition. Like hd2k10 said above, as long as you can get to the tri-color bootloader screen, your phone is fixable and you will be able to get it going again.

Not really sure who you think you are but your tone is not appreciated here on XDA. I strongly encourage you to avoid making posts like that in the future. I like to think of myself as one who enjoys giving second chances but I'm not so friendly the 2nd time around.
If you have nothing nice or constructive to post, keep your smart ass comments to yourself.

Not Bricked, Task29'ed....
You task29'ed but you have nothing else to flash after that, that is why you are where you are....Look go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783 It is Ksubedi's Tool for Nandroid on HD2. once download. Download a Rom. Since I'm helping you, i will not give specific instructions on YOUR choice of ROM but rather MINE, sorry that is how it works around here xD.
http://hotfile.com/list/1335611/19f8a51 go to this link and download this file, HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_TMOUS_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024.rar, should be the second one. This is Best EYE Candy(Smexyness) rom, created by Coredroid Team.
Once that is downloaded. Now come the Steps for working phone.
First Connect Phone to Pc and keep it connected throughout the whole process.
On the Tool Kit You downloaded Earlier:
1. Power Off phone, and On while holding Volume Down Button Simultaneously.
2. You enter tri-color screen, with USB bottom.
3. Once USB is confirmed, Click "Wipe(Task29)" in Ksubedi's Toolkit, bottom right.
4. Follow the Instructions that Pop up. Blah Blah Blah.
5. On Ksubedi Toolkit in center LEFT it says "Choose System Partition Size(MAGLDR)," Choose 400MB. Leave the Cache alone.
5. After Success of "Wipe" Enter Bootloader(Tri-ColorScreen) Again.
6. USB confirmed, On Ksubedi's Toolkit, Bottom Right Click Install MagLdr.
7. Follow Instructions that Pop up. Blah Blah Blah.
8. When phone is rebooting after MagLdr install. Hold "End Call" Button until you see a list of 13-15 Options.
9. IF you don't succeed, Pop out the battery, and in again and power phone while holding "End Call" Button until you get to the Several Options, all in white.
10. Once at the Options in MagLdr. hit Volume Down Button til you get to Option "5.USB Flasher Mode" Hit "Call" Button
11. It will say "Wait USB..".... first, when USB confirmed, will say "Wait USB..USB"
Now Switch over to the CoreDroid V1.6 file you downloaded Earlier.
1.Extract File to a newly created Folder, and Open folder.
2. Wait for "Wait USB...USB"
3. In the New Folder, You will see something called DAF.exe, Right click and Run as Admin.
4. Follow Instructions. Blah Blah Blah.
5. Phone will Reboot again, and again Hold "End Call" button until you get to the same several options again.
6. This time go to Option "8. AD Recovery"
7. Using "Volume Down" button go to "mounts and Storage" and Down to "mount USB Storage."
8. New drive will pop up on PC, open the drive, and COPY FULLY, the zip named "HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_TMOUS_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024"
9. Once Copied, click "unmount" on phone with "Call" Button.
10. Now hit the "End Call" Button once more, then move down to "Install Zip from SDCard," then Down to "Choose ZIP from SDCard."
11. Choose "HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_TMOUS_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024"
12. Let it install, after intall, hit "End Call" Button until you see "Reboot Now" Option. and Reboot Phone.
13. Reboot and Setup the phone and your done, no more "Brick."

If you have the Tri-Color screen. then you have bootloader, as for the USB thing that is supposed to be in the bottom, that will only appear after you connect the phone, VIA USB, to a PC. Now I don't know about the Linux situation, but word of advice, get your azz to your friends house cuz right now I don't think you wanna risk getting the phone even more f**ked up cuz of the PC software you have, well anyways do as I have stated, and that ROM i have linked is amazing fast and no issues watsoeever. And as for the ROM actually, Sergio is coming out with an update to 1.7, so try it out, and if you like it, go for 1.7. and actually, the process for flashing an update is not hard at all.
> as for your hd2, try flashing the original windows mobile rom,
Can someone help me with this.
I can not get the phone go in tri color screen mode.
Phone boots okay with Android installed but I like to switch back to T-Mobile WM version.
Power + Volume brings menu but does not force the phone in TRI color screen mode.
thanks,

I think what malaeus meant was to not post in the development forum rather than to ask him to not post anywhere on XDA. I agree though that he could worded it with a little less inflammatory tone.
As for the OP, dude, you need to post all the details of what you have done for someone to be able to help you. Please post things like the current state of the phone (can it boot into bootloader or MAGLDR etc.)
Also your radio/ROM/MAGLDR version could help too.
I think the radio rom might be missing shouldnt it say that at top of bootloader magldr 1.13, hspl3 2.08, dont know the radio rom... I can do all the steps except when i get to the daf.exe file it says failed init. usb

I recently bought a vibrant off craigslist and I didnt know it was rooted. There are no files on the phone. Im trying to go back to a stock tmobile vibrant. i have no idea how to do this. I cant download anything of the market, it just gets stuck at starting downloading. Ive searched the forums on how to put back to stock, but im doing something wrong. Can someone PLEASE help me step by step on what I need to do, what files I need to download(with links please because i cant download anything off the market on the phone). thanks in advance for your help because im kinda freaking out.
First, this should probably be in the general section since it has nothing to do with development.
I'm assuming that you have already logged into your google account so you'll be able to access the market, if not you should do so. You may also want to boo to recovery (hold vol. up and down plus the power button while off then release when you see the first splash screen) and delete both user data and cache (power button to select), if that doesn't solve, select reinstall packages and see how that works out.
next time please post in the general section.
You can boot up into the recovery menu. Just hold down the volume + and volume - with the power button, during boot up.
It should show up with the text "vibrant" and "samsung", then turn off and boot up again with the same text as before, this is when you let go of the power button, but still hold on the vol + and - . This might take multiple tries.
Then it should show you the options of reapplying some packages or reboot the phone etc. you can select with the vol + for up and vol - for down and then power button to select what you want it to do. Select wipe and that should be it.

There is no RUU to return your phone to stock yet so you can do the following:
You will need to root your phone if not already done:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479
Load ClockworkMod custom recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734164
And Finally do a nandroid restore to the stock Vibrant OS (choose unrooted if you dont want root):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Done!

Thanks for the instructions above, I will try them out.
Thanks everyone. With your help my vibrant is now working. I have one last question, as per the instructions above I got it back to stock, will t mobile accept the phone if I ever need to do a warranty exchange?
I doubt it since you did not buy it from them or anyone related to them, but samsung might give you some warranty service.

Not the warranty from tmo... Maybe if he called in with the problem.. But if you had/have insurance with assurian then it carries over if you call them...

Moved to General forum. The development forum is only for development threads. (Threads with actual development happening.)
Questions should always be in the General forums (or Q&A if your device has a Q&A forum.)
I have noticed that while there are many guides to do this, people still ask the question in threads, so I'll simplify it here. It is meant as an Odin helper.
Make sure you have downloaded the files you need (firmware and odin) from the bottom of this post. I have only included Odin v3.1 and the needed file for UCJF6 restore, cause the jh3 and other stuff is too big to upload directly. This Odin works with all firmwares. Just d/l the desired firmware and use this odin to flash. Just unzip both my files and there you go.
1 - PHONE MUST BE POWERED OFF (not plugged in and pull the battery for 5 seconds if you have to).
2 - Open Odin and choose the files you need. Do everything EXCEPT press start.
3 - HOLD BOTH volume buttons and, while holding them, count to 2 then plug in usb and wait 2-4 more seconds. Phone will enter download mode and Odin will recognize it on a COM.
4 - Press start in Odin. When it completes and your phone reboots, close Odin.
5 - BE PATIENT!!! Your phone may now appear to stick on one of the boot screens or a blackscreen, but it is really doing stuff. Wait 5-10 minutes before you impatient people decide it didnt work.
I can only say this: THIS METHOD HAS NEVER FAILED FOR ME
I hope this helps someone, as someone was kind enough to do for me.....
Enjoy, and happy modding! =)

It seems like most people are messing up AFTER they have the necessary firmware files, which is why I didn't add any links. At least that's what I'm getting from the posts they make.
Honestly, and really I mean no offense here because I love your work AND advice, I see 1 flaw in your post, at least on my captivate which is all i can practice on. Copied from your post:
1. Download and install the correct drivers below (mac and linux don't need drivers)
2. Plug in your usb cable to your phone and computer
3. Open Odin
4. Enter Download Mode (see below)
5. Click Start
If I plug in BEFORE opening Odin, Odin does not pick up my phone. Doing it my way, holding both volume and then inserting usb while holding them with the phone powered off, has NEVER not worked for me. That's all I was trying to clarify for people. Sorry if I stepped on your toes.
Uploaded Odin and stock jf6 to the OP
Then what you can do is ask DG to include this as a method. There is no reason for you posting the same info which is already a sticky thread. This will eventually get lost while the sticky will stay at the top.
Alright i just wanted to say thank you to everyone. With your help i was finally able recover my phone using odin 1click. I have to say thay i was convinced that it was an unrecoverable brick and i had that sick feeling in my stomach but i read, read again, and re read the entrire odin 1click thread, and i discovered that i was booting into stock recov and not download. I think out of the 10 plus times i tried it i actually got it to go into download, by luck im afraid. Anyway the point of my long post is to thank you guys for being so smart lol u saved my phone. I didn't even think of that. You are right. Although I personally prefer my 3.1 odin to the 1 click, it should've been added to his, since my main point was/is the ease of getting into d/l mode if needed. I'll think before I start a new thread next time =)

Hello guys,
please dont think i am lazy, i have read most of the topics here but i am now just more confused then before. There are so many solutions, do's and dont's that i have no idea how to do it.
I have managed to root my streak running android 2.2
I would like to flash it with a newer custom rom but i have no clue how to do it. Could please someone tell me step by step. I have downloaded half of the links shown here in the forum but still have no clue.
Also, could someone tell me what rom to pick. I wanted to flash the streakdroid 2 but i have read so many comments about low performance and other problems. Any other rom recommended.
Any help is greatly appreciated and i hope one day to be able to help others.
TIA
Ok first things first you need to flash streakmod or clockworkmod via fastboot. I prefer streakmod as I sometimes get errors with nandroiding on clockwork. Follow the guides for flashing custom recoveries in the threads for them. Once you've got a custom recovery just place the rom of your choice onto the root directory of your SD card (not in a folder). Then boot into recovery by holding volume up + power. At the first screen select option 2. The screen will turn black, press power. Once in the custom recovery select install update. Navigate to the custom rom and select it. Wait a minute for it to complete then select reboot. You're all set. I recommend booting back into recovery and doing a nandroid back up after you get everything set up. As far as roms go, I'd go for dj-steves 1.9.0 its the best IMO. Good luck!

Android Development is not for questions or Problems
Moving to General
Use StreakMod Recovery if you want a custom ROM, To flash a stock ROM you use the stock recovery. See this thread for a tool to help you flash the recovery you need. The latest version of StreakMod eliminates the step of hitting the power button and the nandroid backups work.
For stability use the latest Strekdroid Froyo version (1.9.0), SimpleStreak or a stock ROM. Read the development section here for other options.
Here is a page of Streak related links, lots of stuff there you may want to look at.

I don't have time to go into detailed steps for you right now, but here is what I can recommend:
Download and uncompress MultiRecovery Flasher from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000455
Flash StreakMod Recovery.
Download Simple Streak from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113256
Save this on the root of your sd card. For ease of use you can rename it update.zip
Install the drivers on your computer (assuming windows) for the Dell Streak. You can get them here:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/Handheld/R288920.exe
Reboot into fastboot mode. To do that, with the phone off, hold down the power button and the camera button at the same time. When the white screen comes on, release the buttons and then touch the fastboot "button" when presented on the screen. Now plug the usb cord in and the bottom of the phone should say something along the lines of Fastboot Mode or similar.
Run the MultiRecover Flasher and choose StreakMod Recovery. When this is done (it takes less than 1 minute normally), you need to boot into your new recovery. With the phone shut off, hold the power button and both volume buttons at the same time. When the screen with the 4 choices appears, choose option #2 (should be something about upgrading using update.pkg or similar). StreakMod will load. Browse the options here to see what's available. Go into advanced, then nandroid and make a full nandroid backup. This will take 5 - 10 minutes or so. Then do a data wipe/factory reset. Then the option to apply update.zip from sd card. If you had named your rom to update.zip and put it in the root of the sd card, choose update.zip from sd card again. If not, choose the other option and be presented with a list of files/folders on your sd card. Find your rom's .zip file and apply it. When it's done choose reboot now and enjoy. If you run into problems booting the first time, shut the phone down (it may require a battery pull to do so) and power on using the power button and both volume buttons and choose factory reset at that menu (this is the one you used to get into StreakMod recovery earlier). The device will end up rebooting twice (you really can't tell since it's always the Dell Logo, just takes longer) and you should be good to go.
If you have any questions, post them here and someone will be happy to help you along. I'm not an expert by no means, I've just done this several times as I like trying out the different Roms. The nandroid backup and restore options in Streakmod recovery is a godsend. If I install a rom and have problems, I can revert to what I had (settings, apps, layouts, everything) in just a few minutes with no computer required, all from the phone. Learn to love it.

I agree with you to a point, however when I bought my Streak back in February the first thing I did was come to this forum as I remembered it from my AT&T Tilt days. I started reading...alot. I got more and more confused myself. I read stuff like 318, 309, UK versions, US versions, etc. I didn't know what was compatible with what. I read more, and finally attempted something and it worked and I was hooked. But mind you, I'm a computer geek and understand how things work in the computer world. At work, I'm surrounded by people who don't and it amazes me how much hand holding I have to do for basic tasks. So I get it when people say they are confused. My rationale behind giving the OP the instruction that I did is that once he does it one time, he'll get more comfortable, understand the process a little more, and maybe start to understand some of the other stuff. Then who knows, in a couple months he may be motivated to make the next bada$$ rom for our loved devices. It could happen... ;-)
We all have to start somewhere.....and this forum is the place for it to happen, because of its wonderful, selfless members who are willing to lend out a helping hand expecting nothing in return.
Thank you so much guys. Got it all working and flashed the rom i got recommended, works perfectly.
I really havent been lazy. You just have ro understand that the start,is really hard for a beginner. I need to get into some basics, to understand what and why. I have flashed hundreds of wm phones but this is something different. I prefer to ask and be on the save side. How does it help either of us if i brick the device and ask after?
I really appreciate the people which dont get tired explainig something for the tenth time, this are the people which make this as big as it is.
Again, thank you so much for helping. I hope i ll be able to return the favor one day.

"Power menu - works every time, but you'll need to use other buttons than power to wake device up.
I'll provide CWR package for those who don't want power menu to work every time but want power menu to wake device up. "
When i start my HTC HD2 with the android it just gets stucked at the start, and doesnt really start up the android. I think it has something to do with what its said above, but i dont know how to wake up the device by using other butons, or how to use the CWR package or whats ment by it. I really hope some1 can help me with this, and i am hope i am posting this at the right section.

What CWM partition do you have? It may be too small for the ROM.

First of all, DO NOT regret flashing Android. Trust me, it's a very good decision and you will be happy with it once you've successfully got it running.
Secondly, see this thread, it will tell you everything you need to know.
Figured it out yet?

as a fellow new flashaholic i know it can be frustrating, but stick with it, android is far more stable and faster than windows ever was. there are several good tutorials to read through and I recommend you do read them.
Team blue droid, Boxmax and energy are good roms to start with, stable and easy to install.

There are 2 good tools you can use to assist easyandroid and HD2 tools.
CWM, clockwork mod is the recovery system you install after magldr, makes the process of reinstalling easier. the 5/280/5 or 10/300/10 you see with some roms is the settings to apply in easyandroid or HD2 tools.
most roms give you a good guide as to waht settings are system requirements are required. Most but not all need you to partition your sd card to act as an extension of the phones internal memory, hence the ext2, ext3 or ext 4 you often see in the threads.
A good friend of mine supposedly shut off his A500 during a upgrade/update. The unit still powers on but all I can get it to show is "boot verified failed..." in the upper-left corner of the Acer screen. I've downloaded several ROMs and tried reflashing from the SD card but no luck in reviving this. All I get is the Android triangle. I've reformatted the SD card. I've tried the Vol + power + screen lock stuff, too. I can't get to any other screen to change any settings... period. Many of the ROMs that I would like to try are dead links now that the government has shut them down. This is a US unit. Would someone be kind enough to direct me to where I can get the right stock ROM so I can at least get this thing running for him?

Thanks for your response and it DOES look like it would work... IF I could access anything on the tablet - like enabling USB Debugging, etc. I can't get to it. What I need is something I can flash or boot right from the SD card as that's the only thing I have access to.
with this you do not need to have access to nothing. Download the file From the thread above to your windows pc. OPEN THE Zip file. it will have all the tools and A VERY DETAILED set of instructions. Find the instruction file and fallow it.
Many people have used this with ease. If you want help just flashing another.zip file. post the rom that was on the tablet . the recovery installed as well.

OK, I tried it out and it doesn't pick up the tablet as I don't think USB debugging is enabled and I have no way to enable it. That's why I'm asking for a method to flash it from the SD card.
BTW, I found the S/N inside the SD card door.
You could try decrypting one of the update roms;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
Note that some are encrypted, and you have to de-crypt with the tool listed there.
Extract and copy the update.zip. Copy to SD.
Boot by vol- or vol+, and see if it will install.
There are a couple of other tips in the threads, like toggling the button for Portrait lock, to force the tab to start formatting.

Thanks VERY much! I swear I must have tried these before and they didn't work. However, I missed one important step - unzipping the update.zip from the file! DOH! I feel really stupid but the tablet is running 100% perfectly.
Again, my most sincere thanks!

Hey, really, it's no problem. Glad we all could help get you up and running.
No, I haven't used that method, since my HTC desire. Same principle though.
I'd tell you the principle behind it, but it's rather long.
Glad you got it going.
My pals and I, are launching a new site. Hopefully it will be for people not so technically PHD'd with android. Not quite so technical as XDA. You're more than welcome to place some info, when we launch. It's more community orientated, so a different venue.
XDA, is, and always will be the place to come for the really technical stuff. As you see, there are users here, which will give you what they know. May not always be the fix, but, some people here "do" care.

Be happy to check it out. While I don't have a lot of tech savvy in Android, XDA has been my "go to" for almost all things Android for MY A500. While I can't contribute much (if anything ), I have sure picked up a wealth of help/tips here.

Hey, we all start "somewhere".
Androidtabletgeeks.com And remind you, it is not competition. Just an alternative.
Officially, it has not launched. Still working on tutorial videos and such. Like I said, it's a different venue.
