After the update none of my content folders Games, Multimedia, Social and eReading will open. All I get is the error "The application Acer content folders (process com.acer.app) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." The only way I can them to work again is to go to setting and use the clear data button in the Acer content folders application but then I have to back and add all the Apps back to the folders. It's happened several more times but I noticed it only happens when I update an App that I have saved in one of those folders. Anyone else having this kind of issue?
most people have this problem, possibly ACER is still fumbling around with the format in which they store the shortcuts. In fact sometimes it even has another problem, It just displays the label text but no icon, you have to close it and open it a few times to show the icon.
It also would be nice if there is a way to create you own shortcut folders with your names. I have not found anyway to do so for the moment.
Just spent a long time on the phone with Acer Tech Support in Temple, TX, about this issue. This was the first time they had heard about it. The only suggestion they had was a full factory reset which I didn't want to do. So I am now using App Organizer to create my own content folders.

daveheine,
I called Acer tech support today and talked to someone named Joshua who seemed pretty knowledgeable on the A500 and he had heard of a few instances of this issue. He said he thinks it's related to the Acer Media Server app. He said to go settings, applications, manage application, all, media server then clear data first and force stop second. This has stop my content folder error message after I update any of the apps in them. The only issue now is when adding the updated apps back to folders they stack on top of each other. But I found that if you grab the top one and slide it the front of the row it will pop in the first spot in that row and that solves the stacking problem. Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.
I'm having a similar problem.
Tried the media server fix ...."He said to go settings, applications, manage application, all, media server then clear data first and force stop second."...
but still getting the same error.
Tried shutdown and start-up again to no avail.
Saw some similar problems on other message boards, but with no answers
Guess I will have to start the App organizer for now.
Well I had to get it working by clearing all the data (as the previous post) I guess it doesn't take too long to set back up
1. Go to Manage Applications
2. Slect: Applications
3. Select: All
4. Scroll and select: Acer content folders
5. Click: Force stop (if highlighted)
6. Click: Clear data
7. Click: Clear cache (if highlighted)
Exit. Hopefully, this should solve the FC issue.

Is this a stock App, or one in the Market? If it is a Market App, then can you please tell me who the publisher is? It will be nice to be able to create my own content folders. Thanks in advance.

Helped me, also if I lost the already added App Shortcuts, but this was solved within a minute or two.

You can find the Apps Organizer in Android Market, or at this Website: http://sites.google.com/site/appsorganizer/
I know the fact, that if clearing all data on Content Folder fixed the issue, you just have to add all app's again and it is ok. but as soon as you close it and re-add another app it starts again to crash.

I hope you don't mind answering a question for me or pointing me in the right direction. I turned off Sense UI to save battery life and use the Windows Default setting. On my Home screen, the category Pictures appears and if I swipe to the left or right, the thumbnails appear. However, if I tap the picture to open it, I get the following message:
"The file 'IMAG002' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstaling or restoring this file."
This issue came about after trying to move all my photos from the HD2 to a folder on my desktop. I'm not sure if I accidentally moved/deleted an essential file, but it's almost impossible to view photos unless I switch back to Sense UI. I scoured the forums for an hour with no luck, but I would appreciate any assistance you could provide.
If it helps, I'm using the ROM version (22.May.2010 WWE). Thanks!
Well you could try copying all the files to your desktop, then reformat the memory stick.
Taking for granted that you have downloaded 'Omarket' for your handset (an app that lets you download many more apps), search for File Explore Extension (found under Utilities/Plugins).
This will not install with an app icon to your start menu, it simply expands the functions of the existing file explorer. Once installed, if you click and hold the file giving you trouble, one of the options will allow you to assign any of the programs to open the file types of your choice. Obviously the assigned program must first be able to accommodate the file type for this to work.
This is the easiest (and most beneficial) solution I could think of. Hope I helped
Thanks everyone! SirPhunkee advised me that I was missing the "album.cache" file in my DCIM\MEDIA100 folder. I cleared the memory card and started over from scratch. Ultimately this corrected the issue. Thanks again!

After restoring some of my phones databases after a hard reset I have found that in my application list I have a whole bunch of stuff that I had installed previously but don't currently have installed. After highlighting and clicking 'remove' it brings up a message saying the program isn't installed but would I like to remove it from the list of apps. So I obviously click yes...yet the application remains in the list.
This has made the list somewhat difficult to sift through in order to find a genuinely installed app. Is there any other way I can remove these names from the list?
Thank you.

There may be an easier way, but the best way I found was to reinstall the app, then remove it ...
@Redeyedrichard
sometimes reinstalling doesnt work...i found another fix online which works...
Start memmaid
jump to > databases > database usage> SwMgmtMetadataStore > browse
Look for the entry which cannot be uninstalled, highlight it and delete it
don't forget to soft reset after
Go to the folder \Windows\AppMgr and you'll see folders of (presumably) installed software.
Delete any folder in here that you want.
(But, when you delete a folder that program cannot be uninstalled normally, so take care to remove only those which have been restored and not reinstalled!)

Not quite sure how to access this...what is "memmaid"??? Thanks.
And Bright Light, your suggestion didn't work. All of the apps appear in that folder are currently installed. Thanks anyway.

On my regular computer I have to delete temp files, etc., with CCleaner.
Is there anything that needs to be deleted form Elocity A7 after surfing the web?
If I play YouTube videos, etc., are there any files that have to be deleted from the Elocity A7 (as I do on my regular computer)?
Is there anything 'stored' on the Elocity A7 after visting/surfing the web? Cookies, temp files, etc., that need to be deleted (to preserve free space)?
There options if you open your browser and press the menu button(on the A7), go to More, then Settings, Scroll down to privacy settings
Hope that helps

I see:
Factory data reset
Backup/restore settings and applications
Don't believe that is what I wanted. I just wanted to know if my "cookies," "Temp files," etc., were stored somewhere on the A7 (resulting from my visits to the Internet) that should be / could be deleted (to free up space on the A7)?

What browser are you using? And did you do the 1.42 patch
In all honesty the amount of space taken up by any temporary internet files on the A7 (and in most cases on a PC) is negligible and not worth worrying about.
CCleaner is not a must have tool, most of the time it is only used by people with a guilty conscience trying to cover their tracks of where they have been (a laughable idea)
The only time I use something along those lines is when I am trying to recover from one of my 100+ end users' misadventures in Interweb Land...
Please don't read it the wrong way and take it that I am accusing you of such behavior, I am just grouping average internet users as a whole. But while I am on the "not to offend" part of my rant... You really don't strike me as being in the percentage with the skill set that should be using utilities that can modify your system's registry with a single click. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

How do I get to "More Settings?"
When I open the Browser on my A7, I am in Google and all the way at the bottom it has "Settings." When I click on that I get taken to a page that says "Google Settings." Safe Search; Query suggestions in search box, Search History, etc."
If I click on "More Settings" (in upper right-hand corner) I get taken to a page that says: "Global Preferences."
But I don't see any place to delete cookies, history, etc.
I am using Build Number PBJ8000.2.0134
When you open the browser the soft button above the volume is where you will find the more option and settings...

So i first put a bunch of ebooks on mylibrary and it all worked out fine. I sorted them and everything. Then, i tried to put another book in but it first got downloaded to the download page and then i cut it to the books folder. Thats when my problems began...
It doubled everything! And then, when i tried to put another book, it trippled every book! So, i tried to just delete all books and start afresh but now when i go mylibrary, the ghost books are still there. So, i was wondering if there was some way to delete the data mylibrary has collected and force it to restart totally afresh.

Well, I don't know if there's a way of doing it from within the application, but if all else fails, you should be able to do the following:
Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > MyLibrary > Clear Data
This should clear out the application's cached data, so that it starts fresh next time. If it can be done throught the application itself, that'd pobably be the best course of action, but at least this is an option if all else fails!
Cheers!

Anybody know how to get rid of all the junk collection of non-photos in the Oneplus Gallery app. Or have a workaround in the stock software. The Gallery app shows photos taken from the camera app, and a " collection folder " at the bottom which stores a ton of garbage gifs of game screens, icons, etc that fill the folder.
Google Photos are NOT showing included in the Gallery app, and you can't share the Google pics from the photo app to text or share on facebook without saving them directly to another folder in app before sharing. .
If you open photos in facebook, the options are littered with like 1,000 gifs, of hearts, and emoticons, game screens, etc with the few camera photos mixed in from the Oneplus Gallery App.
I'd like to know where oneplus is storing these and wondering if I can get rid of the garbage " collection " folder or somehow replace that app as default to make the phone more usable for a family member. They love the phone but need facebook, and this is a major hangup for them that I'd like to help resolve. Can't find the folder with gallery folders with the explorer app I installed. They don't seem to be in DCIM. I may get my hands on phone this evening but any directions / solutions would be appreciated.
Thanks
I've noticed too so I'd appreciate it as well
still an issue.
It's been mentioned on Oneplus Website a couple times too. I searched the photo names ( long string of numbers ) and found the folder they were in. Deleted the folder and it got rid of a bunch, then deleted them individually. Slowed the problem but didn't stop it. Also tried to lock down the Gallery app from writing to phone with no luck.
Hoping they solve the problem pretty quickly with a software update or workaround. It's an annoying issue.
But I've not seen a resolution yet.

You should be able to create a file in the same directory as the icons named .nomedia (including the full stop at the start) using es file explorer etc. This informs android not to scan this folder for media files. I have had the same issue on previous phones in the past and this normally solves the issue. You may need to clear the data and cache from the gallery app to remove any icons already displayed after.

LOL well spotted. Corrected :good:
Found a solution that seems to be working
I did a factory reset - and chose not to transfer all apps / data / settings, instead downloading each individual app to phone along with manual setup. I also disabled the "Oneplus Gallery" app from writing to the phone in app settings, while grabbing a random Gallery app from Play store. So far, for the day, seems to be working. I'm seeing no stickers pop up on the phone.
< Crossing fingers >
I'd be happy if I can get rid of the "Recently Deleted" feature.

You're the man!! It totally worked as easy as that! I created one in the "Android\data" folder and directly on the "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.facebook.orca/files/stickers/" that's it they disappeared.
Thanks again
The .momedia thing was pretty funny, you can imagine doing that and then android doubles the trash, you did after all ask for... mo.
I delete all that with this app
