Hello,
I'm a not-too-proud owner of the XDAIIs. After the second replacement I'm considering jacking it in and getting the HTC Robbie (Orange c550/Qtek 8200). The QVGA screen is really the selling point for me.
A few questions for those of you that have gone from a PDA to a Smartphone...
1) What am I going to miss?
2) What am I going to gain?
3) Does anyone have this device? If so Pros and Cons?
4) Is this the best device released/soon to be released?
Any help would be appriciated!
Dom
Hi
I own a SPV C550 (and I owned every SPV before)
The device is definitly the best Smartphone available, the new screen is really absolut fantastic! The only problem is that some applications are not working correctly due to the new resolution - but that will be a matter of time until new updates are coming...
What you will miss is the touchscreen, but therefor you gain the possibility to use it with one hand!
Go for it, you will love it!
Sven
Thanks for the advice Sven!
Any ideas where I can pick one of these babies up? I'm an O2 UK customer with about 4 months left on my contract so I need one that's SIM FREE if possible!
Anyone else have this device?
Dom
hey guys,
i am about to buy a second hand touch diamond. i was just curious about its recpetion quality on gsm network. kindly share your experiences. i had xperia before but didnt like the reception of that phone. how does xperia recpetion compared to diamond !!
also ... does 6.5 run fast on diamond or is it like xperia (very much sluggish)
as well.
kindly send me your opinions.
i ll be waiting.
Using Diamond since last 9 months and that too on GSM network. Never faced any problem about reception. You can go ahead with ur buying but kindly check the battery usage. As in new phone it doesnt last more than a day...dont know how old the diamond is ...the one u r going to buy second hand.
Regards,
Vishal
have used diamond in the past....mostly use HD nowadays....
but no problem with reception...only concern may be battery life...but it should be OK on GSM...I was on 3G...
would this be a good, upgrading to x10 idea or should I stick to my x1?
My x1 works still good, but I like to change from time to time
And if I would choose for the vivaz would this be a step back or not?
Regards,
Francis.

i think you meant upgrade lol. I think if your phone still works fine you should stick to your X1, but if not..well it's your choice
i had an x1, and it still works. i had an lg expo inbetween my x1 and x10 b/c i wasn't sure i wanted to switch to android yet. i loved WM, but now i'm quite happy with my x10 very fast and beautiful screen. i still think WM is more versatile. but android is quickly catching up ... i'd keep a hold of your x1 i still play around with mine but the x10 is the bee's knees!

Yep, I mean upgrade, as mentioned in my title
I have my X1 for about 2 years now. As said, I like to change from time to time.
I don't always wait until something is broken to change it.
But if I change it has to be for something "better".
Right now I'm looking at the Vivaz and the X10.
Vivaz and X10? X10 ftw! i know that Vivaz can record HD vids but that feature's also coming the X10 when we get the 2.1 update. I think Symbian is dying soon...so better stick with Google's android but, it's my opinion anyways. Good luck with your choice!

I had a x1 my hardware keys broke after a while because I text so much. I upgraded to x10 and won't have that issue again lol. It was a fantastic switch defiantly love this phone more than x1 not that it wasn't a great phone also.

Do you miss the keyboard when typing? Or is it just something to get used to?
i was a dedicated x1 user until just last month until i switched to an x10. the only things i miss from the x1 is:
#1 keyboard & arcslider
#2 custom roms
#3 Starcraft & Warcraft ported games
#4 Optical joystick (makes scrolling webpages a breeze)
#5 Garmin (but CoPilot for Android works almost as well)
#6 the extra bluetooth profiles supported by windows (pbap, rsap, dun, bluetooth pan, etc.)
but there are probably more than 100 advantages the x10 has over the x1. once you get used to the x10 and the OS, you'll like the x10 a lot better..
X10 is my upgrade from the X1! I'm still gonna keep my X1 as a spare telephone. The X10 is everything I expected, but I needed to get used to android. But nowadays you can also flash an android rom on your X1 to see what android is all about!
Yess, I'm happy with my X10!

X1 is a great phone/pda. I loved mine and still have it as a backup. But going to X10 is like a leap into the future compared to the X1.
I am using X10 now, transfering from X1. Im happy with the transfer, in particular, after getting the firmware update of X10. Believe that you wont regret to have an X10, though it may take you some time to get familiar with it.

Whoa there are android roms now or x1? Im gonna check it out. Thanks for the news.
Can I play radio on the X10? Hardware is not added to it, but maybe there is another way? Regards, Francis.
Found the answer in the forum.
A hardware option from se is available.
Francis.
There are a number of radio apps in the market, I use the UK LBC app from the market and can tune to many stations in the uk.
I suppose it may depend where you are located in the world which stations you will get. Oh and you need a data plan because they are net\data stations.
I changed my x1 for my x10 is a weird change at least for me
miss all the apps I installed on the x1 and the weather apps mainly cause they didn't connect by themselves like on the x10
but now you get use to androidit seems to be a good OS but to be honest I miss winmo xD
Okay, so the only thing that has me still thinking that WM6.5 is still superior to Android is the depressing quality of A2DP in the Android builds for the HD2.
I mean, granted it's higher quality than listening to music via the hands-free profile, but it is woefully lacking when compared to the A2DP coming from WM6.5 on my HD2.
I found a thread of Evo owners who are similarly upset over this, and there seems to be one ROM variant out there that addresses this for Evo owners, so surely this must be something that can be fixed on the ROM's for the HD2? (also, RIP Leslie Nielson)
The thread is here
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9888
Has there been any research into what (if anything) users can do to better the quality of A2DP on Android?
Yes.. thank you for sharing this issue with us.. i hope google will fix this bug.. it just gives some white-noises in a music! i can't describe it
EDIT: Check this out, someone actually found a way for it!
is this wat u mean? or im showing something off (fast forward to 1:38)

while reading this issue 9888.. i found out that it was fixed on CM 6.1
Can any developer take a look at this for the sense roms?

Check out this thread! Loads of us have been asking the same question for a while now. I wonder if it's fixed in Gingerbread...anyone tried it?
I have tried Cyanogen's new Gingerbread build on my HD2 and for the first time, I heard crisp, quality A2DP over my phone. It was awesome. However, I want to continue using my Froyo sense build so really would like to see a fix. It's possible....we just need a genius or 2 to work it out! I wonder if Cyanogen is contactable?
I am using the NAND stock Desire ROM on my HD2, and my AD2P is working flawlessly with my Sony Xplod unit in my car. HTC phones always worked good for me.

Is there any ICS un official software that's stable and has most the features like camera, calling, texting, 2G/3G, wifi, bluetooth and if possible the new face unlock?
I have rooted my Xperia play and now want to install custom software since sony has now ditched the Play sadly it could do with a few PS games or should i just sell this phone and get a new one with ICS?
There are lots of roms: CM9, AOKPlay, PlayOSP. I wouldn't buy another phone, because of all the ICS-based roms, but if you have enough money, it's up to you.
Honestly
I have yet to use an ICS based custom rom that doesn't decrease performance.
Your best bet is to use one of the many Xperia S builds as they offer the best speed and most of the features you would ever want anyways.
cheers for your posts guys. can you cross phone software like xperia S on xperia play? ill check out the roms you mentioned and install one. do you guys know if that face unlock feature works in them? i dont really want to buy a new phone i just bought the xperia play lol

For ICS I'd wait until the dust settles.
Given the flack Sony are taking on their social networking sites I wouldn't be surprised to see a turn around.
At any case, once the other 2011 Xperia lines are updated to ICS and there's stable running custom ROM's etc, you'll likely see some that are ported for the Play.
