Vice Versa - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hello,
I have a question about having windows mobile 6.x on windows phone 7 devices. In Microsoft, or elsewhere, forum they said that downgrading from WP7 to WM6.x is not possible just as upgrading from WM6.x to WP7.
Well, since it is been done to upgrade to WP7, I was wondering if downgrade is possible?
Thank you.

You can downgrade to WM6.5 from WP7. Just flash your 6.5 ROM as you normally would through the bootloader, this will remove MAGLDR as well as WP7 and return your phone to 6.5

Nope, I think he's talking about a WP7 native phone, so no MAGLDR no downgrade AFAIK.
PS. this should go to Q&A

Yes, I have WP7 native and would be most happy to downgrade it to WM6.5. I guess that it isn't posible to do it now, because there are no tools created for it, but it would be nice to know that it just could be possible to do it.

Anything is possible with the right developers behind your phone. Cottula was the savior for our phone!
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Well, I do really hope that development will go, just a bit, to that direction.

I wouldn't wait for that to happen. The WM6.5 drivers would have to be created from scratch.
If you *really* want a good WM6.5 device, get a HD2 with a good ROM on it.

Yes, but the problem is that I have already purchased the phone. I do like it, but a bit anxious for new apps. I've considered HD2 long time ago, and I always had a qwerty keyboard on the phone (Wizard, Raphael, Kovsky, Xperia X2, Touch Pro 2 and now 7 Pro) cause I like it. But, unless WP7 starts to develop, HD2 is the best possible solution.
Thank you krazyakar.

Is it possible? Multi Bootloader instead of original ROM?

Has anyone made it? It'd be great if someone has cooked such ROM.
Imagine that you could switch between WM, Android and Linux. Or a port of iphone os for WM device.
Ohh, and good would be to have Symbian or BB OS ported, too!

sorry but keep on dreaming, that never will happen...
android is being ported and propably be bootable directly someday, but all the others...no. They are made for a completely different architecture, so it won't be possible

While ports iPhone OS, BB OS, and Symbian are absolutely out of the question, there are some potential ways they are looking at to natively boot Android. The most recent one would have to be here, and it makes use of code injection into the original SPL in order to boot Android directly, but it's still just an idea for the moment.
The Phone with the storage to include so many operation systems at once is yet to be invented....
...and besides... why would anyone want to downgrade his WM phone?
Right now i'm using wm 6.5 , liunix and hopefully will get android running in my phone (thanx to the hard work of the developers) but i can not book into liunix straight after soft reset... so has to go in wm6.5 and start it manually... I'm using HTC Universal....

Can I downgrade 6.5 to 6.1 or 6.0?

Hi all,
I want to downgrade to 6.1 or 6.0.
A certain application cannot be used on 6.5...
I inquired of the producer of that application, but we can't solve it.
So I want to downgrade.
I searched xda-developers, but I can't find.
Anyone can do it?
Just find yourself an 6.0 rom somewhere in the HD2 ROM development forum.
Flash this with HSPL and you're done.
Back-up your data before doing so, though.

So you would burn your new house and move to an old one just because one of your cupboards doesn't fit into it?
By the way, are you sure the problem is WM6.5 and not just the display resolution? Does you application work on a SE Xperia X1 or on an HTC Topaz/Rhodium with WM6.1?
This is the only ROM with 6.1 I could found for Leo, but I have no idea if it's good or what is included.

as previous poster said, you need a 6.0 WM cooked rom to flash it, but as far as I know there are none in the development forum, and I doubt any chef would be willing to spend his time on creating a custom rom with an old and even worse WM.
But maybe you'll be lucky anyway
EDIT: nevermind, apparently as other previous poster reported, there IS a 6.1 rom for hd2 :-| But it's "highly experimental", so maybe not your best choice

No not at this stage. I can recommend Miri's ROMs for android compatibility but havn't tried many others but there is currently no way to run Android on our HD2s without first booting into WM.
There are also a few ROM builds (see the HD2 android development thread) that have a lot cut out of them for faster operation/boot and there's also the option of using one of the developed Android loaders (boots WM then Android for you).
Not possible right now. The devs are working on a NAND version which will make it possible, but it's not available yet.
Highly recommend Energy's Titanium rom, its very lightweight and is perfect if you reboot your phone and want to get back to android fast.
I use ChuckyDroidROM as Winmo build (very low on all recourses), and put shubCRAFT 1.5 or mattc Froyo 1.7 on top of it.
Using the little boot app in the ROM it runs great now
Almost dont notice its a layer
Its cool to have 2 OS on 1 phone, why not?
Question seems to be answered. Thread closed.

Sorry to break your bubble, but there's still no Android that can run from NAND yet, so, no, you cant replace WM with android yet. Devs are working on it, tho. As of now, you can only dual boot WM and Android. Frankly, I love the fact that we can have both OS's, I mean, which other phone can do that as good as our beloved HD2 does? And, we also have Ubuntu, and will soon also have Meego and WP7! The HD2 is THE most versatile phone ever!

Running NAND and WinMo...

Perhaps a stupid nob question - but here it goes...
I need to be able to still run WinMo 6.5.5 because we use some WinMo apps at work, so if i flash a Android NAND Rom, can i still boot WinMo in my custom ROM (Dutty v.13) with all the apps and stuff i have installed under WinMo?
Just need to know befor i flash a Andorid MNND rom.
It's easy to choose if you run Android from the SD card, but it would be nice to run a NAND Android Rom instead.
Nope. It is an either or situation with NAND. NAND completely erases the WinMob OS and puts android in it's place.
Just out of curiosity, what is it that you need windows for?

Thanks for the quick and precise respons ;-)
We only use mobil phones at work and have a littel app for directing calls and choosing witch phone queue we are on. And that littel app only works with WinMo :-(
I think dual booting is the best way to go for you. Use wnmo at work and android at home.
Or, ask your company to get on with the times and develop a port for Android and IOS
TBH I think you lose nothing with sticking to Android in RAM and running a sweet sweet custom Winmo 6.5 - I know that Android on HD2 is stellar, but between Laurentius 5.1, Energy, and Dutty you are really covered for WM6.5 as they are all superb.
But yes - NAND really does wipe WM completely
In all honesty RAM builds are faster than NAND ones for now.
Thanks guys - il'l stick with one of the new Android RAM builds.
