Hi, I recently bought a second-hand universal. It screens seems unstable, like in the movie below:
http://www.fotkatools.eu/universal.avi
Should it be like this?
Or it is broken?
The hinge on the earlier Universals is prone to this, esp. if it has been forced, dropped, etc. If you search this forum you'll find instructions on how you may be able to tighten it again yourself, or alternatively you can see how much a shop in your area wants to do it. I fixed mine by simply undoing the screw on the hinge (on the unit rather than the screen, on the side nearest the power button), bending the metal hinge plate so the ends were closer to the screen part, then reassembing.
See these threads for other suggestions, and do a search yourself.

Well, I personally would love to do it without disassembling, but if it's the only way, I'll do this, but just please tell me - is it difficult comparing to other phones?
Dear all, please dont kick me so hard, but can anybody explain me what is window (sensor, device???) on the top of htc logo and between calldynamic! What is this, proximity sensor NO?! IRda - NO?! In manuals i couldnt find this place explanation. Sorry didnt read all threads to find thruth!

First off, welcome to XDA
Secondly, do you mean the 3G Camera or earpiece or the light sensor?
Can you provide image of what you are describing?
Check out page 25 of manual
Thank you Spartan for you hospitality, no this sensor in the left side, it is not camera and light sensor! you can see it only in some angle, stright look will not show you this place. later i will try to highlight in pic.

No sensor, just your imagination, scratch or build defect.
I dont mention that it is sensor, but what is this? please see in the angle to your apparatus and you will see it, maybe something that producers did for future uses? just take a look!

I have check on my girlfriend's TouchHD and there is....... NOTHING!
There is nothing there. Your phone might have some kind of minor manufacturing flaw that makes you think there is something there. I have had my HD for a year and have never heard of anything being there. I looked at it from all angles, and compared it to the right side. My phone shows nothing. Both the left and the right side look the same.
Thank you all for your attempts, but I will tru to put pic of it (if camera will capture it), and maybe than you can explain me this place usebility. Will try to give a pix on monday!!!

I highly doubt there's anything. I've recently opened up my phone to replace the screen and had to mess around in there with the camera/speaker/light sensor and there was nothing else.
Please see attached photoes, can anybody explain this window dedication? Waiting for your replyes.
looks like a air bubble under the screen protector.
Oh common guys, it is not bubble, not scratch, please look on top of htc logo untill calldynamic, this thing placed between them. Mayby mine is special, super-assembled!!!
ok, i was doubtful but i checked anyway and couldnt see anything, then i saw your pics and thought id give it another try and nope, nada, then i figured id pull it to bits and have a gander and inside and still nothing.
Whilst this was slightly entertaining im affraid to say you have probably got a bubble under the first layer of screen.
That is the most likely explination, the chances you have a one off device that no one else has which has some mystical new sensor is so small you'd be better off putting your life savings and the money you made selling your house on the lottery in the hope you'll hit the big one!
Ok, if accept the version that it is bubble under first layer, can you explain why this bubble has so right geometric forms? The guy next to me has an IPhone, and even him thought that it is porximity sensor like his apple has. Strange and Mistyc!!!
I agree that the shape is very geometrical, and I can understand how it would make you think there is something special there. It is unique, but I still don't think it's related to any functions or features the phone has. Look at the letters "htc". You have a slight frame around each letter that is the same shade/color as the "window" you are referring to. My "htc" letters have no such frame around them. The black of the phone comes up directly to where the white letters start.
So, I think it's some kind of strange manufacturing effect.
I'll even attach the service manual for you to look at.
Download service manual here
To be truthfully honest I thought you were seeing things until you posted your 3 pics. Yes, it does look geometrical in shape, but I can assure you that this is not a sensor, button or anything else intended by HTC. As stated by others previously is looks like a flaw in some way, either on the device itself or caused by the skin protector. If you take your device to any retail shop and compare it with another HD this may ease your concerns and I'm sure the staff in the shop would also say as everyone else here has.
Absolutely agree with htc letter, before your post i don't even see this feat, well, i think i should agree with that this window has no any function. Besides i saw off. manual, no-nothing. OK, waiting for another variants of reply.

Well, first of all device was bought not in EU, second, in my country very hard to find even person who owns device, too much expensive for our market, i'm even not talking about shops to compare my apparatus with others. By the way, does anybody know, whether in this forum chats somebody from HTC. i would asked him directly.

Afternoon all,
So yeah I'm loving this phone greatly, but I've noticed something horrible for a phone so well made.
If anyway else owns one can you please check if your headset has a tiny gap ( Im really do mean tiny gap) between the front metal casing and
the cream looking plastic band around the phone. So were the headjack and on switch is . . . .
I noticed it last night and if I press the back and front together the gap closes.
After speaking to P4U they said no one else has rang in with such problem and they said they would exchange it wen more arrive in stock.
I ended up going in store were I discover they ave one there but is a pre ordered handset. The guy did open it up and checked both handsets.
They new one did also have a tiny gap but not as bad?
Bit shocked as I havent really used the phone alot as Im still using my S3 till I pay my contract off.
Anyone else got this?7
Cheers
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I have read somewhere 2 weeks ago it is a problem for some demo set. But seems it existing on retail phone now. Also I heard iphone5 has such problem but people think it acceptable.
So maybe other users can give their view.
And you would better to have a clear photo upload others can judge.

There was another thread on this exact issue. It is very small, but then again these phones aren't exacty cheap. So should be uniform all around.

Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I got mine today, have looked but not used the phone yet. On both the top and bottom, I can squeeze and a hairline gap will come together, but I don't think this is a problem really. It is negligible and it probably won't have any impact at all, the phone still seems premium and solid in the hand, and it is not like they advertise it as being waterproof or anything in which case this would be an issue.

I have a slight gap on the top, nowhere else though, and its very slight, I keep a case on it at all times though, so no big issue
Ive put two links to photos I took. Hopefully the links work. One is with gap and then me pushing the edges together . . .

This gap may be engineered to provide for thermal expansion differences between glass and aluminum
Definitely looks like a defect to me. Lint, dust, water etc could all get in there very easily and cause problems down the line. I'd get it replaced.

My mates htc one had zero gap all the way around.
Yeah I maybe abit paranoid on this matter. After seeing the other newly opened htc one and seeing that also had a little gap then I though maybe
its just the way its made. I will see hopefully thursday if more come into stock.
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
If I'm looking at the same thing is u on top of the phone theres a very very small gap between the metal casing and plastic filler.
Can't see I'm bothered about a gap of 0.25mm though. I don't think I'd ever want a replacement.

but by design? i don't know, HTC promised zero gap didn't they?

My phone screen is damaged and from the official store the cost is 150 euro to replace the screen/frame/digitizer with a new one.I have followed a youtube video to disassembly my phone and now i am wandering.
Should i go and grab a new screen/digitizer/frame from ebay with 40 -50euro?Have anyone here tried it?
Work perfect for me.

Honestly after doing it several times due to defects with the screens I bought, I got to know my phone a lot more intimately than imagined.
The skills picked up along the way will go far.
Here's my thread detailing my experience with this.
One takeaway I can provide is:
Do as much research as you can up front. Be sure to be in contact with the seller you buy your screen from. Not all screens are the same

My seller was 6389team or something like that. Just make sure whichever screen you buy, ask them all the questions you need to know re: quality up front.
Also confirm they have the correct version before you buy.
Post your results in the thread and do the poll so we can keep track of your results as well
After doing over 5+ G2 screen replacements..........I vote a self-fix.
Its a relative easy phone to work on.........nothing is overly complicated in the layout of the frame and phone.
The only major thing...........is the type of sealant or double sided tape you use.
I used Loctite High Performance RTV silicone on my first few times (messy process, but can be less if diligent)
I used a spool of some cheap double sided tape on the last few replacements.
Both ways have there pros and cons..........but both got the job done for me
I would recommend researching the proper adhesive though...........I just used the RTV, because I work on car related things so much and had a full tube laying around from a speaker cone repair.
There not a lot of information on screen to frame adhesive......most discussion is about what UV adhesive to use if seperating LCD from Digitizer.
I ALWAYS say get the LCD Assembly (lcd glass/digitizer already fused complete to install)
Here is the video I used when I first started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqzgD490avg&index=2&list=LLd8QZ4c1aksnO69EHHC4_TA
After doing it a couple times.....its all by memory now.
My frame is also damaged so i want to buy an lcd/digitizer/frame combo like this onehttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-For-LG-G2-D802-with-Frame-Black-/221316876560?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3387838910.

Not sure about this site.
Some folks on my LCD replacement vs OEM screen quality thread claim their screens without logo are identical copies to the original. I wouldn't rule them out completely without trying it.

Hey xda,
I received my device yesterday finally.
After all those good and also bad reviews I was still happy to get my OP5. Right now I'm astonished by the performance of this device. The camera is fine I don't see a point in arguing it's bad. It's not.
I use my 5 for 24hrs now and I didn't need to start my computer once because I needed more power or anything. I love it. However I still have a few concerns, which I haven't seen being mentioned anywhere here yet.
First, my volume key is rattling, it's not tight. I can slightly move it with my finger (about 0.3mm). It's not a huge problem but my 3 year old HTC m8 never had this problem, even though I dropped it a hundred times and also having very similar body and keys.
Second the aluminum/metal frame around the cameralens and the glas is already loosing its color. I mean I put this phone in my pocket twice. There's has never been huge force on this part yet. The most of the time I just leave it at home on a table on a microfiber cloth and still the color is already flaking of.
Do you have similar/the same problems? I think about contacting the support.
Thank you in advance.
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.
Yeah, that seems like a warranty issue to me. I'd be contacting OP about it.
Or just scrape off the rest of the black paint on the camera housing - free and cheap chrome bling!
If that is genuinely just in your pocket with nothing else touching the device (e.g. keys/coins) then definitely a warranty issue, could it be the stud/rivet on a pair of jeans as you slide it in/out? My volume button has no perceptible play in it.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will return it then, if this was a problem to everyone I would have just lived with it.
Do you mean the dent on the upper part of the camera frame, in the middle? I think that's intentional for whatever reason.

Good to know, just knew it was intentional.
// Second the aluminum/metal frame around the cameralens and the glas is already loosing its color. //
I had this out of the box .. not sure what to do since i have a feeling this will happen over time regardless.
Mine arrived with scratches on the camera bezel. Most noticeable is on the top of the bezel, in the middle, where there is an indentation for the NFC Antenna. It seems this is very common based on thread on OnePlus's own forums.
I first opened this thread, and an admin closed is saying it is normal - this is unacceptable:

I then opened this thread, which allowed for proper discussion:

And then someone linked to this thread, where others have the same issue:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/etched-line-on-top-edge-of-rear-camera-glass.553906/
My phone also came with scratches on the right side of the camera bezel.
OnePlus has opened an RMA ticket for replacement - I have to send it to Acer to inspect to determine if it is worth of a replacement.
Here is the kicker... I have to pay for the shipping! I should not be out of pocket for a manufacturing defect. I need to call in and see what they are willing to do.

Thanks for your reply, didn't see it earlier. Here in Europe you don't have to pay for your warranty in the first 2 weeks after buying at all, it's a law. Sucks you have to pay. However I contacted the support and got a return ticket for a repair. But after hearing that the jelly screen is 'normal' and won't be fixed (can't be), I canceled my repair ticket and went for a return ticket. I'm really pissed - I paid 570 Euros for a cheaply build Device. I mean it's fast and camera is great, sure. But the build quality is really underwhelming.
And after thinking about all this for a bit I'm pretty sure my device was broken even before I got it, I probably just didn't noticed it when I unboxed it.
