- OS seems to get laggy easier with multiple applications
Post your experiences.

hmmm,
I updated to 3.1 before 2 hours (skopje, madedonia) and it seem lot faster and way more stabile. desktop mode in browser works fine, but I`m happy that firefox 5 beta is much more solid on this build. In the moment i have more than 10 active apps and can`t feel any lags...
What i noticed and i can`t still confirm this, is litlle less signal on wifi icon. Its maby animation only, or its due to battery conservation. Everything else feels way better.

This isn't a bug, but this did occur after the update. I can no long save photos to my internal memory. Says requires sd card when i try to capture a video or photo. No biggy though, will go out and buy an sd card.

I am having problems with moboplayer trying to open avi files.
Actually, I just downloaded arcmedia and am having the same problem.

Lag
Overall the improvements are great with 3.1. Seems to have fixed several problems I had with the device. What I have noticed now is that rotating from landscape to portrait takes longer, big lag here. And, there is greater lag or longer response time when touching the arrow on the bottom left of the screen. Other than that all else is fine.

Well, I have a normal Xbox 360 pad (with usb) and it works great.
Maybe it's the onza that doenst work. Anybody with an Onza having the same issue ?
A bug still there for me : my azerty keyboard is still recognized as qwerty

Desktop browser mode works for me.

I noticed when I have my Logitech BT keyboard and a BT mouse connected at the same time it lags my keyboard. When I use a wireless mouse I don't have that problem.

I recall not seeing Facebook in the Market even under 3.0.1 when they released the 1.6 update a couple of weeks back. For now I'm using Friend Me and the website for the most part.
In other words, ditto :|

I thought it was just me, or sensor failure. When rotating from landscape to portrait there is a longer wait. Also at certain times I select the home key it takes me to a side pane of the home.

I just updated to 3.1 OTA (Build 4.010.24). Besides the smooth 720p youtube playback nothing else seems better.
OS is laggy, moboplayer responds very slow. The biggest bug, media scanner is ignoring '.nomedia' files screwing up the gallery and music player. It is including all the thumbnails, videos and audios from data files.

a500 3.1 problems - wifi!
WIFI was working at home but, when I arrived at work, I can't connect to any of the WIFI AP's here, including AP's I've used before (and my hotspot fails as well). I have seen several reports similar to mine where the connection seems to start, tries to get an IP address, then recycles the whole process just as it's about to connect.
WIFI only A500 isn't worth much if it cannot connect to WIFI! Any ideas?

Just out of couriosity. What type of wifi? Simple wpa2 or enterprise eap?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk

Enterprise PEAP/MSCHAPV2
After the 3.1 update I can no longer connect to my enterprise network here at the office. I can connect to unsecured and non enterprise networks just fine.
I have done a full factory reset, tried re-writing the wpa_supplicant.conf file, checked my dhcp server and set up a new lease (yes I know thats not the problem).
Device stays on "Connecting"
Contacted acer support and they said that they can't tell me to do anything more than what i have already done. They did tell me that they couldn't tell me to "go back to 3.0.x because thats not the kind of support they give *wink*".
There is another guy in our office that received the update yesterday and he is still able to connect. Same tablet but he had rooted his before the update. I don't think that should make any difference.
If anyone figures this out I will buy you a pony.

Well i had this problem with the last update. Did not receive my 3.1 yet but i hoped they had fixed this. But i hope you find a solution. I did not find one.

Aren't these fixed?
As there is only one additional FW you have to try UrukDroid.
But that atm is also suffering the mediadelete under some circimstances.
And wifi n is working with the last version.
I will see today if the WIFI issues I was having are truely fixed when I visit my usual lunch hot spot....(could not get on the internet with .3 & .4, but works fine on 2.0.71)
I never had a problem connecting to my home router(wndr3700 b/g/n), but noticed that it only connected at 54Mbps even after the update. I flashed my router firmware to the latest, but still only 54...
Still disappointed that after 2.0.71, the Flixster Movie app trailers will not play....
As for the media issue, I do believe it is fixed, i just included it in my requirements.....
2.1.08 Fixed my hotspot problem...only connects @ 54Mbps....
so I guess its a keeper until I get fed up with not have trailers in Movies app...
Still debating on SDE root
This is a common missunderstanding.
Archos says WLAN N compatible, which means it can talk the Protokoll.
It doesn't state that it will be full N Speed.

Phone to Tablet Internet

Just found an awesome APP in the market called Pdanet Tablet you install it on your phone then on your tablet and use bluetooth to get internet to your tablet via your android phone!!!!
It works pretty well on my Epic to my Transformer!
No Root needed (This will be for those of us who have not hacked our phones to send off Wifi already.)
Not working on my tab :\
Edit: I fixed it. reboot helped.
Awesome find, thanks! It's not quite working consistently for me, but I was hoping the PdaNet dev would make a version just like this. I'm sure he'll get it working reliably soon enough...
tethering off my nexus s, 2.3 hotspot w00t.
Anyone get this to work on Droid X, 2.3?
An update: after I installed this app, my TF Internet connectivity was completely hosed. It might be coincidental, although I doubt it. Essentially, I lost the ability to connect to a number of services via wifi, even after I uninstalled the app. Couldn't connect to Google properties, Tapatalk couldn't connect, etc. Absolutely miserable.
Only way to fix it was to do a factory reset. Multiple reboots and reconfigs of wifi settings did nothing.
Moral: be careful with this app.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I have not installed it yet in my tablet.
But I just read it from the market and they said you should remove the proxy setting after using it, otherwise the internet will not work anymore.
Not sure if they meant you will have to remove the proxy setting everytime you finished using it. That will be a hassle if we need to switch between wifi and BT every time.
works for me bluetooth tethering to my Droid Incredible. Havent tried it longer than 30 mins so I havent experienced any disconnects yet.
You do have to reset the proxy every time you use the app (set it to use it, disable it when your done). If you dont, wifi wont connect anymore (at least for me).
It is a little bit of a hassle, but i can live with it. At least the app gives you a shortcut to quickly change the setting.

Not sure why you need an app. I wifi tether with my Nexus S and it works fine. Just have 2gb package from ATT. They don't seem to care.
I got it installed, and everything went smoothly except I have no internet access via browser, or gmail.
Otherwise, this looks like a good app, easy to use.
I tried this PDANet for Tablet. The first beta release was buggy and there was a lot of disconnects with some debugging prompts.
Then I saw they updated it several days ago.
After updating it, its still not a smooth experience.
Got it connected to the phone, launch the browser and I could browse the web, but after 2-3 web pages, then it will stop working.
Email does not seem to work for me. Both GMail client and the native Email client, none works for me. Google Map seems to work.
But again, the connection dropped very frequently.
Hi,
Does anyone know of a solution for the TF101 when the phone you want to tether to is not an android device. I am still using my trusty HTC HD2, and it's WiFi hotspot is "ad hoc" and not seen by the TF, and its bluetooth creates a PAN, and rudely tells me that the TF needs a NAP.
Maybe I can use the "windows mobile version of PdaNet on the phone with the android tablet PdaNet client on the TF??

[Q] Android Store Problems - First Time Android User

The Iconia is my first Android device. I decided to go with it over the iPad since I just couldn't justify buying something that felt like a huge version of my phone.
With that being said I have issues with the market. I keep getting load errors when searching/pulling up an app to read the description. Is this an issue with the android market or an issue with my device?
I also have issues with the stock browser but I am going to try Dolphin to see if it helps.
What kind of error?
If it's load error and it gives you options to Retry or Cancel then your Wifi is not connected or losing connection.
That is the issue I'm having. Would the wifi issue be related to the tablet? I have no issues on my notebook and iphone.
i've had problems with some wireless routers and my iconia. make sure you have updated firmware for your router. it's a quick and easy fix if it works. also try wep instead of wpa. lowered encryption will sometimes clear up an issue with compatibility.
I'll look into that. My router is pretty old and I have never done squat with it.
I updated my firmware on my router and so far tonight I haven't had the market freeze or have any errors. I do have another question and that is why doesn't my apps show up under installed in the market? I also have two installed apps that are listed as not installed in the market,

WiFi randomly fails to connect after last update

I've had my Transformer for about 2 months now and my WiFi connection has always been reliable and robust, but ever since the last OTA update (8.4.4.11) it's gone flakey. I know the problem is not my wireless router since WiFi was working great before the update and I have lots of other devices that connect without any issues.
At least once or twice a day after resuming from standby, the WiFi icon stays dark and no amount of trying to reconnect will get it back. After a few tries, I can actually watch the checkbox for WiFi settings toggle on and off repeatedly by itself.
I've tried changing the WiFi disconnect policies, closing down apps, and stopping non-critical processes but the only thing that fixes the issue is to power down and restart. WiFi will then work for awhile but eventually goes out again.
Anyone else seeing this?

That's kewl and all but what if you connect to different AP's during the day. I access through my EVO 4G while at work and then access my home network when I get home. This may or may not work. I'll have to see when I get my TF on Thursday. Thanks for the quick links though.
You can also increase the dhcp lease time in your wireless router, it also works for me.

Not exactly the same issue and I already set up static IPs for all the devices (32 of 'em!) on my wireless network long ago.
I did find that one particular app was probably the cause (PCFile Sync) and since replaced it with another having similar functionality, but I still very occasionally lose WiFi and have to reboot.

I've been following this issue since I started having it on the 3.1 update when I unboxed the thing, so I'd really like to understand what issue you found with PCFile Sync, or at least what led you down that road.
Up to this point because of my specific goings on I've been thinking it was more a DHCP/routing issue and not in fact a WiFi/connection issue - i have strong connection before and after whatever the event that shuts things down is, just no traffic.
A little more info here as well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191792

The behavior I described in my initial post (watching WiFi toggle on and off in settings) seemed to suggest something was blocking or interfering with the normal connection after resuming from standby (I have my WiFi disconnect policy set to turn off WiFi when the display is off).
So I just started closing down apps that had WiFi access and when I killed PCFile Sync (which I use to sync files between the TF and an NAS), the problem went away. I'm now using FolderSync Lite which doesn't seem to cause any issues, although on rare occasions WiFi will still loop for awhile before connecting.
This never happened in HC 3.1 so I think it's a vulnerability in 3.2 under certain conditions ... and those not using a static IP on their LAN are probably seeing something similar happen.
You know, after using my TF after the update, I think what this wifi bug is really just a fix gone wrong. Maybe it's some condition set to turn on wifi only when in use (to save battery life, or allow certain tablets that won't go into deep sleep to go into deep sleep or something like that) but it's set with some super sensitive conditions that make it turn off unless there is an actual request for internet?
My bar goes from blue to grey/white after a minute or something, but I can seem to always access some webpage when I click it from an app. Hmm.

This happens to me with 3.1 randomly, though my policy is set to keep WiFi alive and I never used this PCSync app.
In my opinion the Android Broadcom WiFi card driver is buggy, because the SGS2 with android 2.3.3 has similar problems and also a Broadcom card.
So I guess it has nothing to do with the Android version, but is a buggy WiFi driver. I remember, that I had similar problems with an Intel card in a Toshiba notebook years ago and it was fixed with a driver update.
The question is, who develops the drivers, Google's Android team or Asus & Co? I guess the later? If it are the manufacturers, I find it strange, that Samsung has similar issues.
+ 1 on this very frustrating bug; since upgrade to 3.2 it happens every now and then ; as I did not install any new Apps I assume that this is just a very annoying 3.2 bug...

[Q] A couple of issues

I have the 7.7 for a few days now and I'm finding it an incredible tab, one that is providing exactly what I've bough it for.
There are 2 issues though...
1. I am finding the overall sound level, as output from the headphones jack, a bit low, even with both the system and apps levels set to the max...What are your experiences on this? (...my comparison benchmark is my previous GT-P1000, running GB).
2. The stock browser seems to hung-up a lot, up to the point of becoming a serious nuisance.
This seems to happen only when using Wi-Fi and, even then, only in some networks.
At home, I had no problems both under G3 and my home Wi-Fi network but, right now, I am writing this in my laptop connected to the exact same hotel lobby Wi-Fi network as the 7.7, which is resting right beside the laptop.
While the laptop is running smooth the tab keeps hanging up and timing out.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

One question for those of more "tech-inclined"...I've noticed that many sites automatically offer a mobile version of their site, when accessed with my tabs.
This must surely mean that the tabs identify themselves, somehow, as such.
There a a lot of devices connected to the the hotel lobby where I am at the moment (...I can see users all over, just by looking around...)
Is it possible that a Wi-Fi hotspot access point discriminates access speed, based on the type of device that has established the connection. Could that account for the noticeable difference in access speed I am getting right now between the 2 devices?
Thanks!
XK
Try voodoo louder if you are rooted and have international 7.7. Will fix your headphone output.
Xk it is the user agent in the http headers sent by your browser that distinguishes what type of device you are using otherwise there is no traditional way to identify device.
The lag you may be experiencing may be from Javascript processing which is probably much stronger on your laptop

Cranked Voodoo Louder all the way (+9dB) and, presto!...now I can't dial "normal" levels in the system or app and still have headroom.

The router could be able to identify devices, but the connection problem might due to user agent. Of course the clause of the problem is unsure, but let say this is one direction you could look into.
Each browser will identify themselves by user agent. The website might give different content according to the user agent. For example, it would give iPhone version of the website when the browser's user agent is, say, "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3"
You may check your user agent here: http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Many browsers give you an option to change user agent. I'm using Overskreen browser (paid app), which has very convenient option to switch itself to "Desktop Mode", and allow me to browse as if I'm browsing in PC/laptop. Other browser, default or Dolphin HD, should have this option as well, but I'm not sure yet as I'm not using them that often.
I will update you when I found it.
---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ----------
OK XK I found where to change the User Agent in Dolphin Browser HD. (Sorry without luck with default one)
First you open Dolphin Browser HD --> press the setting button at the bottom bar provided by SGT7.7 --> press "More" --> press "Settings" --> press "Dolphin Settings" --> Select "User Agent" right below "Show menu bar" --> Choose "Desktop".
I found that my default is already "Desktop". I'm not sure if I have set it before or it comes as is.
Good luck.
Thank you for your help
I've traveled back home now and I am not sure it is a GT-P6800 problem (...or at least exclusively its fault...). I really think it has to do with the particular Wi-Fi net work it is connected to.
1. It was not a browser problem, since all other apps requiring an up-link (i.e. email) also kept hanging up and timing out, back at that hotel I was staying in, while the laptop was connecting flawlessly.
2. Other Wi-Fi networks (i.e. in the airport, back at home, in a café yesterday) provide normal connections, some a bit slower but that's to be expected.
If this a "certain Wi-Fis, with certain devices" problem and the GT-P6800 is one of such devices then it will be a bit of a bummer because it will be difficult to pinpoint and report accurately to Samsung or third party developers for proper fixing.
Meanwhile, frequent travelers like myself, who can't count on European 3G data services on account of the exorbitant charges (...I wonder when will the EC crack down on to that...It used to be like that with voice roaming also, until the EC put a stop to that exploitation...) and have to rely on occasional/opportunity Wi-Fi hotspots will be drawing a lottery as to weather any particular Wi-Fi will work OK with the 7.7, or not.
Anyway this is a small, small drawback for an otherwise outstanding tablet.
I've just received my 64Gb card and the Samsung book-cover and am just pending on receiving the USB OTG reader to close this "migration".
I am very, very happy with the device

Yes, thanks...I already had it set like that right from when initially setting up my tab.
One strange thing (I've also seen referenced in other threads, by other users) is that, when in the Wi-fi page in the Settings section, I can see the device scanning for networks about every 5 seconds, even when firmly connected to one (as with my home network, right now)....odd...
Anyway, I am not worried with this anymore, for the moment...
My current endeavor is how to make the device recognize my new 64GB MicroSD card.
The tab won't even recognize it for mounting, so I tried to format it in Windows 7 but it will only offer the options for either exFAT or NTFS file systems. I tried NFTS and followed the procedure outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552674
No luck.
The "Mount Drive" app lets me mount the drive and, when finished, shows the drive as mounted but it is still invisible for the system file manager.
Let's see if I can find a way to turn things around and format it in FAT32.
