Uhm, I wouldn't say the screen is lagging or so. It's the digitizer that is quite dumb, as it can barely hold track of two points.

Is this a general problem or just a few??

I would say this I haven't tried out if mine is slow. Can check.

Well giving you this for answer the digitizer is just a bit slow after testing seeing its same indifferent on our roms, this will not affect anything in general terms. You should be happy for what you paid for really.

ok i understand, the ideos X6 as a better digitizer:

The better one would be Defy, if you saw the video how fast it read and responded to his fingers. X6 seemed to have not so good digitizer, would be considered the worst out of all of those.
Well cooldfuzion, don't worry so much you own a good phone it's working it has power and will hold out until you get a new one someday.

In this one there is almonst no lag:

He is moving in a slow pace allowing the digitizers to read and write the positions properly.

Day with a Droid X

Well Hi All. Madhouse here. A buddy of mine who is a firefighter is also a part time Verizon employee, he was gracious enough to let me carry a droid X demo for the day here. It's currently 12:37 pm here and i will have access to the phone for a few more hours here. I made a few videos and took some pictures, i will try my best to answer any requests made in this thread while i have the phone. A few basic principals apply. Obviously i will not be demoing any rooting or hacking type activities on the phone because it is not mine.
Look forward to the questions! Enjoy!
(Will be editing and putting links to the videos in a minute here)
This is a test sample of the droid x's video capability in 720p

Wow, lucky! I know this may seem dumb... but an alternate home (such as LauncherPro) can be installed, right?
Also, what's the screen like? Is it very responsive/accurate?

I'll check into the launcher thing for you and the screen is AMAZINGLY accurate, i'll have a video of the multitouch vis app test up in a minute. It makes the Evo (My phone) look terrible as far as touch responsiveness.
how loud does the "loud" speaker sound compared to other smartphones? Also do you feel that the dual leds are very bright? Do the hard buttons on the front feel like they are good quality?

It's definitely loud. It's about as loud as an Evo 4G's or Droid Incredible's. We have all three phones present. Tested them all.

I was going to make a video but im using the Evo to make the videos, but yeah, it is SPOT ON for the touch sensitivity, makes the Evo look like it's stuck in the mud. Probably due to the FPS cap or something for all i know.

It's big, it's especially big if you turn it sideways. I'm a big guy too (6'4" 268 lbs.) The keyboard feels natural too, it's of good size. It has a multitouch keyboard as well as swype for fast typing.

Swype works VERY well for people with large fingers because its just dragging it across the keyboard and yes the keyboard feels great.

So you can't install Launcher Pro from the market?! I don't care about the default one, just need to know I can replace it with something else from the market.
This is what should happen (in case you don't know):
->Install Launcher Pro
->Hit home
->A box should come up asking what launcher you want to use (if you get to here it works).

Does this necessarily mean Launcher Pro is running instead of Moto's default? Or can it be on top of the original (i.e. wasting mem/cpu, running both)?
The choice it gives on pressing the home screen is just that it recognizes there are 2 registered apps that handle launcher requests, right? It doesn't necessarily kill one for the other, does it?
Only had Android for a few weeks, so sorry if silly question.

Google Sky Map in HD2 Android

Hi Guys,
Can someone tell me please, if the Sky Map application is working well in HD2? I mean, no lags and good precision in tracking mode (G-sensors and compass)?
Thanks

It does, but it depends on if you have a recent Build that has a working compass. otherwise you're good to go
but you may face unsuccessful installation, avoid that by unmounting the sd card before installing

If it's that important, I'd suggest going with a phone that runs Android from the factory. I love my HD2 because its fun to tweak, but battery life issues, G sensor calibration issues, etc make it more difficult to use day to day.

[BUG] Multitouch lost after 12 seconds

A guy from another forum pointed me to this bug.
It starts when you hold two fingers in the screen for more than 12 seconds. Then the multitouch is lost. After a few seconds it fixes itself.
Has anyone noticed this?. Is there any fix or workaround?.

I think the point was, most cameras on phones do not have this feature and the Atrix did not have the feature out of the box.

...really? Galaxy S has, iphone has, n8 has...anyway there is no manual focus either on atrix. for a highend phone like this you have to be silly not to expect it.
anyways without being able to flash a kernel we wouldnt be able to do anything about multitouch far as i'm aware
A bit off topic but I don't see how the nokia N8 has autofocus considering it has a "full focus" camera, aka fixed focus.

OMG I was wondering this while playing MARIO CART 64! You press B to go but you have to use the trackpad and 12 after the race starts, I always come to a stop and everyone passes me
LOL I sound like a dumbass kid now...but seriously, this is very very annoying...
The only work around I saw for Mario Cart was to use the Accelerometer sensor for the trackpad. Which is under Settings>Input Settings then Use sensor as-trackpad.
But this is defiantly an annoyance to other applications too...it really needs to be fixed.

The only problem i noticed from the ones that you mentioned are overheating while i am playing certain games such as order and chaos online. I simply lower down the brightness from 100% to 50% and problem solved. However i read somewhere that overheating is fixed in the next firmware which is 2.3.4!
I never saw any pink spots or yellow tints in my phone. And if u have any second thoughts about the screen, don t have! It s one of the best screens out there. Period! Like the first poster said, you can t go wrong with this device, it is the best smartphone out there I bought mine when they first were available and i can t find a simple fault in it Just go for it!

thnx a lot bro for ur reliving reply i was really paniking after reading all the faults of this phone .. Also i will check the phone b4 buying
The things on your list are very minor issues. Most of the minor issues you have to be looking for them with a magnifying glass.
1. Yellow Tint: You have to be in dark room/With a solid GREY screeen/Brightness Turned all the way down to really notice the yellow tint. Its not something you see in everyday/normal use.
2. Overheating: This is all dependent on what your doing. It usually overheats with games being played for long periods. Personally my phone never gets past warm. You normally feel this heat from the camera area or top part of screen. Thats where CPU is located.
3. This is something you see on rare occasions. Most users in the banding threads see this on only certain wallpapers, xda load screen(3sec process), angry birds load screen(3second process). Another minor issue you rarely see but it is present.
4. After 500+ pictures/videos from my Jamaca vacation I never notice a pink spot. Ive had phone since UK launch but never seen pink spot. Some users reported after updating camera firmware pinkspot was gone. Very minor issue.
Do a little research in the general section, there should be plenty of post explaining each issue with pictures.

Ignore "JJE" hes just a random oblivious troll, yes the pink spot in the camera and the yellow tint is very possibly on all phones, many websites are struggling to find 1 which doesnt have this problem, the yellow tint is hardly noticeable and only in some shades of gray.
The pink spot unfortunatelly is easy to notice but perhaps with better light conditions you can overcome it.
The overheating problem has nothing to do with playing games to much time, its possibly a OS bug which can be fixed, everytime my phone overheated all i had to do was to getting out of all apps, clear memory ram and start that app again, the overheating happened in 20 minutes, after exiting apps and clearing ram it didnt happen untill battery drained...
Believe me you won't regret buying this beast. I had exact same doubts b4 buying and after using it for almost one week, I am glad that I decided to buy it. Btw, ordered from clove to Japan.

the yellow tint issue cant be noticed easelly you need specific shades of gray with very low brightness to even notice it slightly, overall if you want the best performance and best contrast you wont find anything that comes close to this phone, after i have traded 2 of my phones my third one still is and will remain to be galaxy s2 for a good while because the competition in comparison to this phone is simply outdated.
So if you want a top of the line performance phone this is the best, if you want mostly for gamings then either this or xperia play, but even tough xperia play is very good for gaming its a single core 1.0ghz cpu with a not that good gpu, so u win at something and loose at something else.
No phone right now offers the best in all areas each has its up and down.

Two different type of touchscreen on ideos x5 U8800. Atmel and Synaptics

Atmel touch seems to be problematic with laggy lockscreen and slow response. Also if your phone has atmel you will experience very sensitive touchscreen on the 2.3. official release. The newer releases of ideos x5 with synaptics touch seems to work fine even with the 2.3.5 official. I ve heard you can go with your warranty and have your atmel touchscreen changed for free because its problematic but im not sure if they will do it in greece where i live is there anyone who has done it?

Just compare it to a Synaptics U8800 and you will see the performance difference like i did. Let me explain how sensitive. Normally if you touch your screen with your nails nothing should happen well with atmel it happens, it feels like it is touched before you even touch it and sometimes acts like crazy because its dirt or something small on it and that can be very annoying

well if the engine is problematic they should. Just like intel did with their p67 motherboards, but yeah its hwawei we re talking about.....
If we get the kernel source, can a dev reduce sensevity like stockwell did before at x5 settings? If I remember correctly there was a touch screen filter. Changing screen shouldn't be an option I think. Can that be done with drivers, kernel or what...
Mine is Synaptics RMI4 - it really works great. Bought it at the end of summer.
LCD type TRULY NT35582.
maybe this info will be usefull to some statistics freak
