Yes, yellow tint and pink spot are present on every SII. You might wanna use the search function and check all the threads about these problems. You'll make an idea about how much those things can affect you Personally, i'm not bothered by any of those problems

The only problem i noticed from the ones that you mentioned are overheating while i am playing certain games such as order and chaos online. I simply lower down the brightness from 100% to 50% and problem solved. However i read somewhere that overheating is fixed in the next firmware which is 2.3.4!
I never saw any pink spots or yellow tints in my phone. And if u have any second thoughts about the screen, don t have! It s one of the best screens out there. Period! Like the first poster said, you can t go wrong with this device, it is the best smartphone out there I bought mine when they first were available and i can t find a simple fault in it Just go for it!

The things on your list are very minor issues. Most of the minor issues you have to be looking for them with a magnifying glass.
1. Yellow Tint: You have to be in dark room/With a solid GREY screeen/Brightness Turned all the way down to really notice the yellow tint. Its not something you see in everyday/normal use.
2. Overheating: This is all dependent on what your doing. It usually overheats with games being played for long periods. Personally my phone never gets past warm. You normally feel this heat from the camera area or top part of screen. Thats where CPU is located.
3. This is something you see on rare occasions. Most users in the banding threads see this on only certain wallpapers, xda load screen(3sec process), angry birds load screen(3second process). Another minor issue you rarely see but it is present.
4. After 500+ pictures/videos from my Jamaca vacation I never notice a pink spot. Ive had phone since UK launch but never seen pink spot. Some users reported after updating camera firmware pinkspot was gone. Very minor issue.
Do a little research in the general section, there should be plenty of post explaining each issue with pictures.

Ignore "JJE" hes just a random oblivious troll, yes the pink spot in the camera and the yellow tint is very possibly on all phones, many websites are struggling to find 1 which doesnt have this problem, the yellow tint is hardly noticeable and only in some shades of gray.
The pink spot unfortunatelly is easy to notice but perhaps with better light conditions you can overcome it.
The overheating problem has nothing to do with playing games to much time, its possibly a OS bug which can be fixed, everytime my phone overheated all i had to do was to getting out of all apps, clear memory ram and start that app again, the overheating happened in 20 minutes, after exiting apps and clearing ram it didnt happen untill battery drained...
Believe me you won't regret buying this beast. I had exact same doubts b4 buying and after using it for almost one week, I am glad that I decided to buy it. Btw, ordered from clove to Japan.

the yellow tint issue cant be noticed easelly you need specific shades of gray with very low brightness to even notice it slightly, overall if you want the best performance and best contrast you wont find anything that comes close to this phone, after i have traded 2 of my phones my third one still is and will remain to be galaxy s2 for a good while because the competition in comparison to this phone is simply outdated.
So if you want a top of the line performance phone this is the best, if you want mostly for gamings then either this or xperia play, but even tough xperia play is very good for gaming its a single core 1.0ghz cpu with a not that good gpu, so u win at something and loose at something else.
No phone right now offers the best in all areas each has its up and down.

There has been a lot of posts about the yellowish tint and Discoleration, but maybe to get a better view of how many actually have this issue. It would be nice if anyone who thinks he or she has a perfect Display on their SGS2 to post a picture. So people can compare their Phones to "perfect"screens rather than defective ones... they might find their SGS2 actually to be unaffected.. rather than wanting to SEE an issue that wasn't there
PS please don't post defective pictures post them in the tons of posts for that

If you haven't seen a perfect screen, then maybe it doesn't exist. People posted pics of their allegedly perfect screens in that thread. Your thread will be just like the previous one, with people arguing about the yellow tint. There will always be people that see the yellow tint and people that don't. I can bet 100 dollars that if i post a modified pic with absolutely no yellow tint, there will be persons that will be able to see the non-existent yellow tint. It's just human nature.
Anyone who's managed to read all 90+ pages of that thread can start a thread on whatever they like, as far as I'm concerned.

Think you misunderstood something..................
When i have googled i have found SLCD screens actually consume power blocking bright light...Hence bright wall papers ect are advised rather than dark wallpapers which are recommended for AMOLED.
Is That right???
And my question is i have an SLCD version so using apps like Screen Filter drains more battery??
So, after getting no answer for a full mind-blowing 75 minutes, you decided to be impatient and post your question again. And in the wrong place to boot.
That somewhat makes me regret giving you an sincere answer in the first and right location.

An LCD uses the exact same amount of power whether displaying all white or all black.
AMOLED uses more power displaying all white than all black.

Now that my battery life is incredibly awesome thanks to kg2/3, I really don't have anything to complain about.
The positives of this phone greatly out weigh the negatives which is only one thing I can think of.. Some of my wallpapers look ugly because of the banding.
I think I can live with that.
Its a minor issue and only noticed with some loading screens like angrgbirds and xda app and certain photos.
I just love how people turn a decent post into a threat like the nexus prime.
L a little research would have told you the nexus s had same issue and later fixed.

If you don't look for banding or yellow tint, you'll never notice them. Recommend for new users to not look for these issues
Nexus s had the issue fixed because of outcry. Meek sheep in here advise to fix the problem is to ignore it. Not cool at all.
And its not a minor issue. For those of us with eyes it is glaring. And don't tell me that with dual core at 1.2 and 24 bit the things will grind to a halt. I don't buy it.

What "banding" issue? Mine is fine.... I guess if I "look" for issues I will find them. Then again the positives far outweigh the negatives. A little gradient here and there is no matter. If you're primarily browsing of course you wont see it cause its white page with black letter's.
And come on original sgs does not have this issue, nexus s had it but it was fixed. What is wrong in expecting it to be fixed on this phone or not have it in the first place.

Color banding? Don't have it.
Colors are incredible on my SGS2 and shades flow very smoothly. Best screen I've ever had.
yeah I've used a number of roms on my phone and haven't noticed any banding... I'm wondering if this is a hardware specific thing?
The default background image on the Go Launcher exhibits significant banding. The issue goes away when using CM7, currently this isn't a solution as CM7 is severely functionality-impaired at the moment.
A fix would be appreciated, it's a minor irritation though. Seems a bit silly to have such a powerful device with such a great screen and then run it at a lower bit-depth.

Yeah, because the problem IS there, anyone saying "I don't have it" or "it doesn't exists" is either ignorant or lying, because it's a FACT the problem(or whatever you want to call it) exists. The purpose of this topic is rather to ask to people how they live with it/what they think of it.
My 2 cents is that it's quite annoying. Now I see it, I notice it everywhere, games, apps, wallpapers. We'll see how the Tegra-version of the Galaxy S2 with SLCD screen will manage color gradients - if banding still occurs, we can be quite sure it's software-related, if not, there's more chance for it to be hardware-related(though not sure).

Hi guys,
I just sold my "old" SGS2 which I bought on the second or third week of launch of the international version and got a new one. Here are some of the things that I've noticed:
1. Red spot on white background picture while using the camera is GONE. I thought this was a software problem before but I guess it must have been hardware related. Flashed two different roms now including the stock one and still no red spot.
2. Yellow stain on the lower portion of the notification bar is gone. Color is even with no hint of the yellow stain that plagued earlier versions of the unit.
3. Color of the screen is noticeably darker. You wont be able to notice this most of the time but on apps like dialer one wherein the default background color is gray, you can really see a huge difference. Darker but not less brighter, I don't know how to describe it but you can really tell the difference.
4. Capacitive button lights are much dimmer. I tried them on different kernels and roms and they're still dimmer. Not a dealbreaker though.
Overall I am very pleased that Samsung quietly addressed these manufacturing issues
*edit* actually I'm not sure if I was just lucky or they really fixed it
Concerning the screen, you just got lucky. The yellow tint is still here on new batches. One thing I noticed however, is that the two new units I used, had no processor usage interference when headphones were used. Did they add proper shielding or was I lucky as well?
Actually I think I spoke a little too soon. Apparently the white's and the grays are my screen are a lil darker than usual and a little to the shade of purple. Some people have it as well. My white's are not as white as before but when i turn the brightness up it turns into a pretty good shade of white. But my grays are definitely more purple.
Oh well
Every sgs2 is unique, i like to think (so i don't get annoyed by it) that every sgs2 is a piece of hand-made craftsmanship.
Noticed the darker colours on my friends new SGS2 also. .

Hi lovely guys of the Note 3 forum!!
I've had my Note 3 for some time now and I was wondering if my screen is defect since it does act a little weird. I hope you can clarify this for me
Whenever I put my screen on low brightness, the screen tend to leave a trail of purple color behind whenever I scroll/move something. It'd be very nice if anyone with a Note 3 could test this for me, if u are having the same problem or if it's just me
A good way to test this, is to set brightness to 0% and then pull the notificationcenter down and try to swipe the notifications away slowly and look closely, if u can find some purple trail leaving behind the swiping object. To see this clearly, you can download the app Lux and set the brightness to sub-zero. Try -50% and it should be very easy to see. Would mean a ton to me if you could report back. I need to return my device asap if it's defect.
Thank you very much!! <3
EDIT: Here is a video of the problem!

Nope just tested mine is fine no purple at all
Just turn off or switch off "development setting" and try again, if not, return the device.

Thank you so much for testing this! I wasnt quite sure if I was too critical or if there actually is something wrong. This might goes hand in hand with the battery drain that I am having when I am using the phone(idling is superb tho)

Hey, thanks for your reply!
I'm unable to find development settings in touchwiz's new settings-layout. Could you help me out here?
You dont have the problem that I am describing as well?

Don't think you can don't worry about it
Hey guys!
Just to confirm we're talking about the same thing, here is a video I took of the problem
EDIT: Seems like I've discovered a general issue with S4/Note3; Ghosting/smearing. God damnit, this is annoying. The shop will probably not even take it back now. ****..
cannot duplicate
I can't see this at zero brightness. I even installed lux and set it to subzero, and I still can't see it. I'm using an SM-900T.
I think I know what you are talking about. I also believe my smartphone has same problem. As an example if you download BBC News application, then scroll down to end of page and pull further you will see this tail of light appear. It also does this in the settings page when you scrol up or down but you have to get to bottom or top of page and pull further

Not sure if that was sarcasm... BEcause I hope it was.
That's the replacement for the 'bounce at end of page' that Apple successfully sued Samsung over. It now glows.
exactly the same problem with mine. fast moving UI elements leave a purple trail behind them.
could it be that some batches of screen are affected and some are not? it doesn't bother me too much though.

With tiny fonts in a really really dark room with really really low brightness I notice this. Lets bring on some more make believe "issues"... HAHA
