I thing that everybody wants to have a g-sensor in their mobile . I have one idea . Is there any chance to develop a driver or software that can emulate g-sensor by rear or front camera ? Camera can catch "move" maybe in the same way like a g-sensor... Please think about it ...
I believe it was at least done on the Kaiser. The only issue I can see [apart from shoddy accuracy!] is, imagine the battery life being eaten!
Still, I'd like to see it, because it's the only thing I really want on my KS20
Function can be assigned to a hardware button, so it will start only if you want and then safe your battery
Ive asked about this a couple time and really got no where. I do know that the instinct uses this feature for scrolling web pages up and down

Then why not have the hardware button rotate the screen?
I see your point. I'd prefer to just have it running in the background. Drop the accuracy of it, and we could keep battery drain to a minimum perhaps.

but im sure that the great devlopers here could probably makes work better.
it makes me feel so bad not having a g-sensor.
today my friend was playing pocketgravity and he tried making things move by tilting my phone and it made me realize i need me a g-sensor.

Well, doesn't the game lack that feature or does it not need that implemented?
The thing is, there has to be a comprimise.
Get some serious accuracy, but to do that you'd need to sample a hell of a lot, thus killing battery life.
Or, sample less, less accuracy [but still good enough for screen rotation I'd wager], but less drain on your battery.

nope, someone just implemented it because it sounded like a good idea.
Will never work
Cameras have been used in the past for robotics and simply didnt work since they dont understand depth very well
What about combining the Camera and letting it work with the Infrared on the device? I know not all phones support both, but for the ones that do, its a step in the right direction.
External gsensor
Lets go back to the year 2000 where everything was external. remember the external camera on the sony ericssons? lets get an external gsensor
Maybe build in the battery like the fibration in the old Nokia 5100!
This thing must be possible.
I remember the game for Nokia phones, where you were controlling the ball in the maze. It was controlled by camera but it behaves like a g-sensor.
i dont know if this has been done but when you think about it many questions come to mind. first n foremost is depth. the softwares going to sense motion by motion in pictures from the cam. now if you have a white wall sufficiently lit and you shake your phone in front of it, hows a camera gonna judge motion from it? second, imagine a dot on the wall. now if ur close to it, theres gonna be alot more "motion" for the cam than if ur far away. i dont know the technicalities of the concept and if these problems will exist in a potential implementation, but, building on problems like these, i dont think its feasible or useful.
I think the theory behind it is fairly simple (and using the camera as a game input works as in Fishopolis http://rivia.net/Fishopolis.aspx Works on the Wizard). Take a pic A from camera at time x then take pic B from camera at time x + interval y then compare the two pics (get list of positions of same objects from both pix). If the objects in pic A are to the left of the same objects in pic B then you're moving right, left otherwise and a similar calc to determine up and down.
I think it is (actually know evidenced by the game previously mentioned) very doable and should take just as much battery power as using the video camera except for the storage since only a few images would need to be kept in memory at any one time and nothing needs to be stored on "disk".
Some matrix transformations and linear algerbra should do the trick... I'm sure someone has already done this in some form or another by now... Guess I'll see what I can dig up on the old internet.
why doesnt someone just work on internal accelerometers rather then trying to use the camera?
For GPS and compass issues, but never have seen any evidence. .. anyone got a link, I'd just like to see it with my own eyes instead of speculating. ... thanks
Didn't think there was a statement directly from them.
I think you're right that there's no official statement from them. I think it's just what people have heard from the tech support folks at Samsung (and now also from TMo).
i just spoke to a rep and they've stated that *there aren't any updates planned to be released by samsung* *if they do, there will be information on the website* i kindly told them that they need to fix the slow screen to screen scrolling, gps, error connecting when using friends feed and replying to someone
other than that, the phone is excellent.

Just tried hyperspace lite. Thanks for the suggestion. Its pretty cool.
That makes three games I have players that use the accelerometer for controls (also replica island labrynth) and so far I find the accelerometer to be excellent.
WAY better, or instance, than playing similar games on the wii.
I just emailed Samsung about the issue, and asked them what the time frame of it being publicly addressed and fixed would be. I suggest everyone having issues do the same. I have not heard back yet, but will post their response when I do.
I also just got off the phone with T-Mobile tech support. They said they will not swap the phone out for the GPS issue, as it's a known issue and a different unit will not make a difference. They also had me do the keypad fix, (*#*#ect.) and it didn't give me any different results from the last time I tried it, other than the loss of signal I had last time.
I asked what Samsung has said to them about the issue and her response was there is no timeframe on when this will be fixed, but Samsung is aware for of the issue and are working on it.
Basically the same stuff everyone else is saying. 6 days left for me before I return the phone. I hope something happens soon.

On the contrare. . Try homering battle 3g. There you will see... after that you will no what I mean and every game using the accelerometer takes a split second to really orientate......
It is flawed. ..
Or try hyperspace again and pay attention... then close it and download android sensor data... open that app, now go back to the game and notice how Mich faster it moves and how Mich more it responds... another game is speedx 3d... so hard to control then open android sensor data and its smooth as butter...
Please check again, it works sometimes like the first time then after that you will notice slow response. ..

Try papijump..... notice how when you tilt it takes a second for the dude to respond to ya movement. .. then close it completely, open android sensor data and try again, its a lot smoother...... like the app calibrates the sensors or something...
We need more people to see this issue as not many people know about it... but I play games using accelerometer and notice its not right until that apps started first.
Tried your sensor data trick. Not noticing any difference.
eta: I have always sucked at these types of games on the wii or other phones, but I am doing quite well (comparatively) on the vibrant.

Cool. That should work... it may be smooth on try 1. But exit completely and try again, the shadow on the bat chops around and its supposed to be smooth.... then once choppy try that app again...
Thanks for testing this.. I've read others have same issue just no one really can see. This game should do it though...
I pmed you also..
Edit: if ya already opened that sensor app it wont play bad....
Must reset phone, don't run app, then try game, then when ****ty open app it'll fix everygame... but since ya opened it it will run smooth... must reset.
After completely resetting the phone, I am no getting what you described. Was definitely not seeing this before reseting, meaning something else I had done had "fixed" it somehow. No idea what.

Its not major, just a slight stutter which in really meticulous games like asphalt 5 speeding around corners it will effect you...
But run that app after reset, even close it, for some reason now the sensor is flawless. Lime the app calibrates it somehow......
I was cool on all bugs till this, cause I'm a gamer, but luckily someone found that app in another thread, makes it flawless....
Its like first time ever playing the app, it plays fine, but then next time its wack... really strange. I can't believe no one else noticed on games like those, I notice the slightest weirdness.
Hi,
I'm WinMo 6,5 daily user, I'm thinking about upgrade to WP7, but I'm not sure it would be better for me, because I won't be able to
- scan by photos (due to auto focus problem)
- transfer my data by card adapter
But, why should I turn into WP7? What is the biggest advantage?
Definitely speed. It's probably fastest mobile OS available.
only speed. there is no other advantages about WP7
720p vid recording, internet browser speed, and the overall os is just soooo fast and i know that u didnt ask for the disadvantages, but i just thought i'd let u know that there's no multitasking :/
720p recording..
ok i don't do much camcorder myself...but some may find it big +ve
720p was the only reason I bought HD2 5 months ago. LOL. I knew it had to have happpened someday. Now Im relieved........Lol. Also like the registry hacks for wifi N, better gaming performance, like TWO FINGER TOUCH IN FRUIT NINJA WORKS PERFECTLAAAYYYY(in android HD2 has fake multitouch, it lags basically). But no multitouch in Assassin, or any other GAME> WHYYYYYY.
I know what your saying about multitasking but as long as i can listen to some
music and do other stuff what does it matter.

Yeah, any of the ones I found are no where near as good as the ones on the iphone?
you better stay with 6.5 ...
HD2 WP7 over everything else????
The best thing about WP7 is it's on your HD2. What more could you ask for.
If you want you can still keep 6.5 for the more business like stuff (on your SD), but that will all soon be WP7 aswell.
WP7 is better than all other OS for quality of Apps (XBoxLive for instance) theres just not as many.
Plus when you show people how great your phone is and how good it looks compared with their i-Phones you can be all smug on the inside while pretending you're not really that bothered.
Just don't let them take any pictures with it!!!!
Picture quality and aurofocus is not a problem with the alternative camera app found here:

Fart Nukes Pro is good.
Hello everyone and greetings from Denmark
Ok, I´ve asked in the german pocketpc.ch forum, and noone could help me, so I´ll try here (maybe someone can help me out here)
My "needs" for Android NAND rom:
- no Sense!
- fast
- stable
- the new Camera (not the one with focus on the outside)(the one with all those fiddly settings ^.^)
- should last at least 8 houres at heavy use (48 houres in standby/minimal usesage
I´ve tried a lot of roms through the last days, but none of them fitted my needs.
The one which come closest was: MarkinuX HD Extra Clean V1.71
But that one startet lagging after af few days =(
And I dont want to update my rom every few days, I need a rom which can run without performance issues, lagging and "need for update" for at least half a year
I´m desperate, and I hope some of you can help me =)
Thx and good night
BeeJay
Ultimate droid? From my past experiences, it was one of the best if not, best non sense rom for me.
I have no idea what camera you are referring to, but it probably has the stock android camera.
If you are referring to a camera which takes pictures that fill up the screen, has features such as vignette, depth of field, posterize, vintage, etc, you may be referring to a sense camera app. The sense camera app cannot be ported to a non sense build.
Just to note, no android build for us can last 8 hours on heavy use, none.
I don't think you can get a rom with virtually no issues around here, but all of them are good enough for daily use.
MarkinuX HD Extra Clean V1.71 had an uptime of 75 houres at minimum use (about 2 houres of "not standby", all the time 3G, pushmail 30 minutes, some facebook checks a day, about 20 minutes of gaming)
That was really impressive!
Yes, I think I mean the Sense Cam =/ Too bad, but nothing essential
I dont want the "old" Andoid cam, where the focus is set on the outer side of the (my Droid hat that one, sucked like hell)
After an update it had focus in the mid
Would you mind to post a link to the rom u recommended?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958953
There's a link to it. however don't be jumping onto it just yet. I haven't used non sense builds in a while so there might be a better non sense build. Just wait for people to reply if you can.
You could try a Cyanogen Mod ROM and maybe use a camera app like 'Camera360' to take pictures? Doubt you'll get that long out of the battery though.

There are 3 or 4 others. Just clean cache dalvik too and update any miui on another.
The standout features are,
1 Pulldown bar has a data toggle that actually works.
2 The best network usage monitor I have ever seen.
3 Its small, only 70 to 80 Meg update.
4 You can customize anything including fonts and all icons.
5 Its own built in music player downloads song lyrics which are played on screen as you listen.
6 Has its own legal market with apps we never see.
7 Has its own Dev site.
8 You can have as many screens as you want(12 for me) and no performance issues.
9 Text appear in a jump out box for quick reply.
There are many more standout features making miui the is of choice.
Good luck again.

Surprising, indeed. I used WP7 for a couple of months, everything fine. However, I missed the tweaking and modding - but I don´t like Android either. So I´m back to Windows Mobile/Sense...
WP7, imho, is far better than most reviews. Its completely new approach has its advantages; it´s fast and smooth.
At the end, it´s maybe a little too "simple" in the design. I think many people like all those fancy little icons on their smartphones, especially iOS users.
Oh, before I forget: One of the functions of WP7 is the integrated voice recognition/control. It works far better than anything else I ever tried before.

Agree about the UI being fun to use. Very user friendly and fast fast fast. I did activate live services and while the app selection is not that great at the moment, the marketplace is very nice although a little convoluted when looking for apps. I'm currently dual booting Xbmod's build (v.1.11) and AmeriCanAndroid (which I usually use) but I'm holding out for the Mango update and hopefully that'll bring on some cool new apps and features so I can switch between the two without losing data. My biggest gripe is lack of apps. If I could somehow integrate my texts/call log between the two OSs, It would be a tough choice which one to run more.
I am a former iPhone user (2G one only) and I gotta say I thought I would miss it, but my HD2 is miles and miles better

I don't miss the tweaking and modding....and it's for a reason. With android i was constantly occupied with modding. With WP7 you can't tweak.....but you don't need to either. The UI works perfectly to begin with. The UI is designed to access basic functionality fast....phone, mail and messaging. Off course not everything is good, for example....i miss vibration feedback from the keyboard. The keyboard could have been larger as well.
WP7 doesn't have as many apps as android...but i only use flickr, facebook and twitter so i don't care.
If you're not changing to WP7 now....i would definitely give it a try as soon as mango is launched.
I agree. I was one of the loudest when it came to trashing WP7, when I hadn't even tried it, lol! Now I wouldn't use any other OS. Will definitely be getting a native WP7 come upgrade time. It's such an easy, smooth, & very reliable OS.

well there are two things you can do:
1.charge ONLY when its not hot,and try to remove and plug in the charger again.see if the continuous red light comes on(that means it charging, till its heat up again)
2.dual boot android and wp7 and charge in the android mode(its the best)

You're going to have to switch to an SD rom of Android though, unless you use Portadroid to run your NexusHD2 ROM (but as far as I know, I think some of the NANDroid ROMs are a bit unstable using portadroid)
