Nice! I might go for this one, I believe it will come with unlocked bootloader? I played around on sensation and really didn't see anything special, interface was slower than my vibrant, but programs opened quicker.. I thought the screen was pretty good, was bright, and the higher res looked good too.
Thanks for the heads up!

I will wait a week or two after it's released then read on Engadget about the many problems of the phone, and then i will decide if i get this or not.
3D on your phone? Useless in my opinion. But whatever. People will buy it.
I could care less about 3d, just want high res screen, 1 gig of ram and unlocked bootloader.

Alright so now people on a whole nother carrier can get headaches from the 3d
I had a vibrant up until last friday when the evo 3d hit, and while i was expecting the 3d to be a gimmick, it was really kinda cool. You have to kind of adjust your eyes the first few times you try it but its nice. Quads are LOW (like 1600-2300)for a dual core phone but damn does it feel snappy as ****.
I miss my vibrant and the ease of use with that it brought with the flashing and odin operation, but im excited to see what this (evo 3d) will bring for me.
Funny htc said that they were going to unlock the bootloader. yeah go to htc facebook page and it is riddled with hate and what not, then a group #teamwin was able to gain root access and is working on s-off.
battery life is trash and i am going to buy a couple spare batteries, granted i use my phone quite a bit but i would use my vibrant more and get more life then 3d stock. Granted bali uv helped with my vibrant.
guess im just saying that I really like this 3vo and i would suggest it to others looking to upgrade. If given the choice between this or sgs2 i would go sgs2 only because i like how fool proof samsung has made their devices.
Bad Drivers + 3D Phone w/ Goggles On = Epic Fail
Not a big fan of 3D after seeing Avatar on the IMAX. Biggest headache ever. I'm sure people will still buy it and then 30day returning it. I like the EVO tho, my boss has one and it still runs like a champ.

+1 I'm not down with the whole 3d deal. I tried my friends gameboy 3d, and ended up with a splitting headache. The rest of the specs look great though.

Checked out an Evo 3D with my buddy today he WAS going to get one.. honestly it was crap.. Literally burns your eye balls out trying to look at the screen in 3D.. The specs are sweet, but compared to the Hercules thats coming out (probably the same time) its nothing..
I will deft, take a look
that sounds pretty awesome they'd get the EVO
Get the sensation then its pretty much the same phone without the 3D

I guess they have rooted this phone or very close. my son has one the 3d didn't hurt my eyes. I don't think i would do everything in 3d but it's kinda cool. I will wait till christmass and look for some phone then. There will be a new wave of phones then like usual
I'd stick with the Sensation over this. Basically the same phone that's not the size of a brick, slightly less RAM..not a deal breaker.

My upgrade comes through on March 1st.. I've looked into each of these phones with great detail. This is what I've come up with in a nutshell. And I want everyone's professional opinion as ill be using this phone for a year or two.. thx guys and gals..(is there a girl on xda yet? ;p)
Stock pros of shift: pocket friendly, higher quality exterior, possibly more support on xda, I heart HTC.
Stock pros of epic 4g: better battery life, amoled screen, front facing camera, video card for twice the gaming potential
Both are 99.00 on Amazon with upgrade eligibility (so is the evo, but I don't need a tablet just yet, 4" is quite enough for me) .. I use sprint im not switching its cheap.. I'd rather have a steak then slightly improved cell service. I have wifi at home anyways..

My wife has a shift and I have an Epic. Her phone is more stable and her camera takes noticeably better pictures. The keyboard is also better on the shift as sometimes the keys skip on the Epic. As far as froyo is concerned it is much more stable on the Shift as well.
When on the shift section of xda I noticed a lot of people got the phone for their wives and not for themselves. They say games don't run as smoothe on the shift such as psx rom.games. and there is no phone on the market that I've layed my hands on that has a prettier screen than the epic. The colors are just plain and simply better. The phone isn't the eye catcher the epic is
I would go personally with the Epic in hopes of sprint and Samsung getting their act together and fixing the numerous bugs that are associated with it. You'll definetely have a love hate relationship with the epic but I believe in the long run you'll be better off with it.

At this point id say wait for the next round of phones as there'll be dual core options. Also, my gil has the evo and i the epic and they are about the same size overall, not too much difference.

If you can wait for the next round of phones I would, since they'll probably be out this summer. If you can't, the Epic is a good phone. I'm currently on EB 13 and I did a fresh install and then loaded all of my apps manually. There's still problems with the sport mode in the camera, Time without signal (TWS) being high unless you do the airplane mode toggle, and the camcorder being a little sluggish in low light. These aren't deal breakers for me, because I don't really use the phone for low light recordings or sport mode and I'm fine toggling the airplane mode. However, it would be nice to have this fixed. I haven't experienced any of the other bugs people have claimed, so I'm still very happy with the performance of EB 13, but I'm not holding my breath for a fix. I mainly stay on EB 13 because the battery life for me is drastically better than 2.1 and the performance is no worst than 2.1. The screen is a lot better as well.
Like I said before, I hope they fix the problems, but I wouldn't buy a phone assuming they will......
IMO, it all boils down to this..
If you want a KB, get the Epic, if you don't get the EVO
The EVO shift is simply not a high end phone, no matter how it was marketed.
It is not a matter of speed, but just a lack of to many high end features.
I would really say it boils down to you really wanting to mod it I have an epic and I've been pretty happy with having it rommed to froyo until. Although some of the hardware glitches or software do kinda get annoying. I still think it's pretty descent.
The shift I'm assuming is a descent phone as well and I heard the keyboard is way better then epic, so it really comes down to preference I really think.
Best advice I can say is go to the sprint store and play with both of them for about 30 minutes, like literally 30 minutes.
I own both. Epic has a nicer screen and is faster for games. Shift seems to be better for literally everything else.
But if you like to tweak endlessly, Epic may be more your speed.
Epic by a gazillian times. The screen is simply amazing! And the gpu screams. Along froyo with ext filesystem, it even beats the super dual core tegra Atrix phone. Trust me... Epic is hands down best. I owned a Evo and a shift. Both underperform compared to Epic.
Thanks a lot guys after reading I think I may just wait for next row of phones.. when do you think they'll come out?

Brah the epic is a MAN PHONE.

The shift is something I would recommend to my grandma. though i wouldn't recommend a android phone to any tech impaired person( as my grandma is, fuuuu dont even get me started.)
From what it seems, the Shift is a less expensive/toned-down alternative to the Epic and Evo. So you're more or less comparing two differently classed phones.
Also, I love the keyboard on the epic. It's very roomy and comfortable, especially with its five rows. Plus, the Super AMOLED screen is gorgeous and a serious selling point. And regarding support on XDA, the Epic has nearly 10 times more threads and posts in each sub-forum.
I've never actually owned a Shift, but just from the numbers it seems the Epic is a much better deal, especially since they are the same price on Amazon. But waiting for Sprint's next lineup of Android phones seems like a good choice as well.

Heavy
I've had the Epic and the Evo, not the Shift tho. But I've played with the Shift for a while and one thing that surprises me is HOW HEAVY it is! For the weight difference, I'd almost just get the Epic. Regardless... if you want a billion ROM's that's hard to decipher and just really be confused most of the time, get an HTC. Tho, I will say their stock ROM's hand Samy's rear to them. The build quality on all three phones I would say are on par with each other.
The GPS on the Evo is AMAZING! I ALWAYS get a quick lock (within 5-10 seconds of opening up maps), and after 15-20 seconds, it's accurate to 3m (9 feet!), the Epic, not so much. After about 30 seconds, it'd lock, and only be accurate to 20m (60 feet!?!). As for using navigation on the phone, again, I would buy a garmin or tom-tom before I'd use the Epic's navigation.
Bottom line, yeah, if you need a phone that just works, any HTC is the way to go. BUT, the screen, size of keyboard, how good it plays games, did I mention the screen quality? are unmatched on the Epic. Hardware-wise (beyond maybe the GPS), the Epic is unbeaten.

Untrue. Stop using Quadrant and Linpack (outdated benchmarks that are optimized for Snapdragon) and you'll see that it is simply not the case.
MHz for MHz, the Qualcomm MSM SoCs are slightly more powerful than the Hummingbird, but at 800 MHz they still fall behind the 1 GHz S5PC110.
I was using smartbench what do u think of that one?

Shift is good, but the epic is on a whole other level, in terms of hardware. Stock the shift has the better software, but if your going to mod your phone with some of the awesome xda dev software.......that's where you'll see what I mean by being on a whole other level. Don't wait to long to trade your new shift in and get a real upgrade
I saw the hands on video of HTC Sensation today and It is starting to kill my desire for ATRIX
I'm also waiting to see if Bell Canada will offer Nexus S. Having a locked boot loader is painful on ATRIX and also no able to play H.264 video!

"Performance was, as you'd expect from a 1.2GHz dual-core machine, snappy all around, though we still caught some slight lag and insufficient frame rates when the Sensation was dealing with some of those yummy new 3D animations"
Its basically if you want a 4.3 or 4 screen tegra 2 or snapdragon.
Motoblur or sense.
Less Ram, Smaller Battery, Less storage, 1080p out of the box, unlocked bootloader but you never know these days.
Everything looks great till you actually get it then a million complaints about it later.
What do you see so great about it?
If I get rid of my atrix it will be for something much much better not something that needs to be rooted/OC'ed/rom'ed to perform and get decent battery life.
I just want the 1080p/2.4 update sooner than later and I'll be fine for a while.
I would wait till there's some official reviews/tests/benchmarks, remember, everyone blew their load on the Atrix before it came out and we now know the Atrix sucks right....
By the time it comes to Canada, there will be quad cores out. lol
I'd still choose the Atrix over the Sensation
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
do it. ive had the atrix for a month its not that great. plus sense kills motoblur. Actually sorry, the atrix is a great phone. my prob is with at&t mostly, which hinders the atrix imo. i havent seen the new htc device in video but ive read the specs and it sounds awesome, i dont know how much better the 1.2 dual core is than the tegra dual core so i couldnt make a recommendation. personally im returning the strix and moving over to tmobile for the g2x
What I want is ATRIX + Sense + Unlocked Boot Loader + I can play any movie on it without the need to re-encode!
I'm Ok with screen and every other complains about ATRIX and I don't care about how great is the video that it records.
Sense can happen if the Boot Loader gets unlocked but movie playback?!!
It sounds stupid but the Ad of Sensation got me with the new Sense UI
I would stick with my Atrix over the Sensation.
The Sensation comes with 4gb ROM but ONLY 1gb is available to you since Sense takes up 3gb along with the android OS. Atrix has 2gb to apps alone (with 11 for everything else). So if you wanted to store more than 1gb of apps, like say your pictures, videos, or music, you'd have to get a microSD card and pay extra for that.
Sensation's quadrant scores are really low right now. You can claim it is pre-release, but if its enough to be shown to the public and bragged about, then it is ready to be scrutinized in the mangled Quadrant benchmark scoring.
1 vs 1.2 is really no big deal since Android for phones are not optimized for dual cores right now anyways.
And a 1520mah battery for HTC.......yeah. I'll enjoy my 1920 right now thanks.
I gave it a good look, but I'm still really glad I got the Atrix and did not hold out for the Sensation.

I totally agree, i seen the sensation and it was ok, i'm not a huge fan of sense, but most of the important specs can't match up with the atrix, and my atrix right out of the box was a beast, with the sensation it seems u would have to tweak it to match the performance of the atrix(i could be wrong, but i doubt it), call it what you want but just because something is new doesn't mean that it's better, every device will have its flaws, the only one i found in the atrix was the locked bootloader, motoblur isn't a problem to me along with a lot of other complaints that i've been seeing people rant on, some people just complain a lil too much and don't give the atrix credit that it's due

Actually the bootloader will be locked just like the Thunderbolt's was according to Paul O'Brien
"HTC on Sensation bootloader: no changes to current bootloader security strategy. *sadpanda*"
However as seen here, http://www.anandtech.com/show/4243/dual-core-snapdragon-gpu-performance-1-5-ghz-msm8660-adreno-220-benchmarks/2 the new Snapdragon's performance is probably better (taking into account that the Mobile Development Platform that Anandtech had was running on 2.3, had a 1,5GHz CPU and a screen resolution of only 800x480) than Tegra. Still I think that it won't make a big difference and in terms of other specs the Atrix equals or beats the Sensation, so I'll stick to mine for sure.
I'm a big HTC fan after my delightful experience with the HTC Desire Z. But although it's a great phone, I wouldn't get rid of my Atrix anytime soon. Even though we still have a locked bootloader.
Now, if I didn't have the Atrix then I'd probably jump all over this. But as great as the Sense foundation is, I'd wait until the devs are able to purge a lot of the junk so I can still get the Sense experience sans bloat. Sense is great but stock Sense is too bloated for my liking.
And what about the h.264 video play back, is there any solution yet?

I think there's a 1080 recording mod out now? Just a little edit to a file, and you have to use lgcamera app..
I'm 99% sure the Sensation will be locked down. Why? Look at the Thunderbolt they had a lot of luck to unlock it. Do you think they will get that same luck again after HTC found out how they did it.
Also some versions only have 1GB internal storage and some have 4GB our Atrix has 16GB on board.
Also it has 768MB of RAM we have 1GB of RAM.
It's processor is 0.2 ghz more powerful you won't notice that difference but you probably will notice the ram difference and the app storage space difference. The Atrix uses a Tegra processor thus it can use the Tegrazone. The Sensation does not use a Tegra.
The only thing it has is the 4.3 inch screen. Depends who you ask some might like it.

the only thing i like about the new sense is the lock screen. I know we can use widget locker to achieve similar results but i have always felt that it is a bit clunky to use.

There was nothing "new" that impressed me today about the Sensation.
People are drooling over the lock screen, yet I use "No Lock" on my Android devices anyway. Plus we have yet another underwhelming battery from HTC.
As for the Nexus S, I will never buy ANY phone that doesn't come with Micro SD...
tmobileus always has pretty open policy, right? (first gphone, open market)
htc sensation will not be lock(encrypted),,i guess
Just so you know Bell Nexus S is suppose to be released Thursday, April 14th. I'm probably going to pick one of those up instead of the Atrix or the HTC Incredible S...
Sensation would be the answer for those whose att canceled the unlimited data plan. I would go right away. Luckily I still have the unlimited and I think the Atrix is still a better phone. Not a big fan of 4.3" at least not now. Maybe in the future when 2 ghz, 2 gb ram, honeycomb and battery friendly lte device will replace my laptop, then I will go with an 4.5" screen...

Seems like a decent offering with a solid price point for those not wanting some cutting edge specs. But I don't know if I'd go from a 4G to this, especially locking in for 2 years.
In hindsight I prediro a specification point.

i got my evo 4g on release day, had it for about 9 months and then bought a shift. i then switched to us cellular 3 weeks ago, had a motorola electrify (photon) and swapped it for the hero-s which is the same as the evo design minus the wimax radio and world capabilities. figured i'd post my thoughts on it here since there's no forum for the hero-s.
the camera is absolutely fantastic. i'm assuming the design will have the same one. it's got a f2.2 lens, so it's amazing in low light. i use my camera a LOT and that was a big downside to the electrify for me.
the cpu is a 2nd generation snapdragon, so it's more than just a 200mhz speed bump. it's quite a bit faster. it also has an adreno 205 vs. the 200 as the gpu, which is a significant upgrade. i honestly don't notice much of a difference between my hero-s and the electrify i had. i don't play many cpu/ gpu intensive games, but it's run everything i've thrown at it with ease. it's not a top of the line multi-core speed demon, but i really don't need that. it's fast, everything runs smooth, and that's all i need/ want.
no kickstand, but not really needed. the 4" qhd screen is probably 90% of the reason i went with this phone. the screen looks great, i really like the higher resolution, and it's just so much easier for me to hold. i actually have pretty big hands, but the evo 4g and electrify are just awkward for me to hold. i sold my evo 4g and got a shift because of this, and traded my electrify for the hero-s for the same reason. this should be a great choice for people who don't want a bigger screen.
battery life seems decent. i can make it through the day with moderate use. if i'm driving i'll plug it in if i'm using nav/ maps, but overall it's ok. probably a bit better than my shift and it seems better than my evo 4g from what i can remember of it.
as for massive dev support... oh god i hope there's some action with this phone on sprint, there's not much going on with it on the USC side (at least not yet). i'd think it'll get rooted/ s-off somewhat quickly, but who knows. this thing would scream with cm7 on it, and i'm thinking it'll run ICS just fine.
there's no world phone capabilities on my hero-s, so i can't comment on that. it seems like that would be a very nice feature for people who need it though.
overall, i love this thing. it's very thin, i love the aluminium unibody, the button placement is great, it's very zippy, the screen resolution and size are perfect for me, and the camera is fantastic. i never thought i'd say this, but i actually kind of *like* sense 3.0 too. i think it's a great phone if you don't need the latest and greatest, and if you want a screen that's between 3.5" and 4.3", this might be what you're looking for. hope this helps, and if anyone has any questions about the phone i'll answer if i can!

Yeah, I wouldn't complain.
viva la MIUI
It has the smaller 45nm scorpion core which generates less heat and uses less power, so that's a plus, and I believe clock for clock the Scorpion core is faster than the original Snapdragon 65nm core. Then there's the Adreno 205 as far as visually demanding apps goes.

the cpu is a 2nd generation snapdragon, so it's more than just a 200mhz speed bump. it's quite a bit faster. it also has an adreno 205 vs. the 200 as the gpu, which is a significant upgrade. i honestly don't notice much of a difference between my hero-s and the electrify i had. i don't play many cpu/ gpu intensive games, but it's run everything i've thrown at it with ease. it's not a top of the line multi-core speed demon, but i really don't need that. it's fast, everything runs smooth, and that's all i need/ want.
no kickstand, but not really needed. the 4" qhd screen is probably 90% of the reason i went with this phone. the screen looks great, i really like the higher resolution, and it's just so much easier for me to hold. i actually have pretty big hands, but the evo 4g and electrify are just awkward for me to hold. i sold my evo 4g and got a shift because of this, and traded my electrify for the hero-s for the same reason. this should be a great choice for people who don't want a bigger screen.
battery life seems decent. i can make it through the day with moderate use. if i'm driving i'll plug it in if i'm using nav/ maps, but overall it's ok. probably a bit better than my shift and it seems better than my evo 4g from what i can remember of it.
as for massive dev support... oh god i hope there's some action with this phone on sprint, there's not much going on with it on the USC side (at least not yet). i'd think it'll get rooted/ s-off somewhat quickly, but who knows. this thing would scream with cm7 on it, and i'm thinking it'll run ICS just fine.
there's no world phone capabilities on my hero-s, so i can't comment on that. it seems like that would be a very nice feature for people who need it though.
overall, i love this thing. it's very thin, i love the aluminium unibody, the button placement is great, it's very zippy, the screen resolution and size are perfect for me, and the camera is fantastic. i never thought i'd say this, but i actually kind of *like* sense 3.0 too. i think it's a great phone if you don't need the latest and greatest, and if you want a screen that's between 3.5" and 4.3", this might be what you're looking for. hope this helps, and if anyone has any questions about the phone i'll answer if i can!

After reading that, I'm even more excited for Sunday!
pretty sure you'll love it- it's a damned nice little phone. my wife's swapping out her HTC merge (USCC's version of the evo shift) for a hero-s today since she liked mine so much and kept stealing it from me!
i made a mistake in my previous post, the hero-s *does* have GSM/ global roaming capabilities, so it really is very close to the evo design 4g then. it just doesn't have the wimax radio... so i'm hoping hoping hoping that any roms and root methods for the design will also work on the hero-s (like the photon stuff works on the electrify on USCC).
HTC Evo Design longer than Hero S??
Just read dimensions on Evo design 4g - and it seems it is longer (4.8 vs 4.5 inches) than the Hero S? Anyone have idea why as it looks like the same phone?
Is this phone worth a 2-year contract or would I be better off adding $50 or so dollars and buying a used Evo while I wait for the Prime?

Its the qhd screen I'm sure. The evo 3d is longer but less wide then the evo

both evo design 4g and hero s have qhd screens. so why different reported dimensions?

I dunno, but I got it this afternoon and love it.. now I'll patiently wait for root...
All ima say is that I love me evo aka evie... The wide screen is just great for my fingers and the quality of the screen is awesome while I watch scrubs on netflix... Its a great phone but my only problem is that its old and im gonna want some dual-core lovin...

The Nexus is tempting (as was Nexus S). But I'm going to stick with my good old Evo 4G. When it came out, it was the 1st superphone and so far ahead of its time that its still not outdated. My phone does everything I need and ICS will breathe new life into it. I don't think any of the new dual core phones are that much better.
My next upgrade will be to a 28mm SoC with integrated LTE that finally gives decent battery life on 4G.
I'm with you, but i do find it very hard not to get sucked into all of the constant hype around here. It is also tough when the devs you like start moving and you feel like you should follow with them. The EVO is still a great phone

Not outdated? Are you joking?
*Weak, single core processor. Dual core procs perform better. Period.
*Terrible, god awful graphics processor. Can't play any decent 3D games properly.
*Weak camera
*Terrible battery
*Average/Below average screen. Blacks aren't really black, resolution is low.
The Evo was(is?) a nice phone, but saying that it isn't outdated is a straight-up lie.
I was just thinking the same thing...the evo has been the one phone that I haven't gotten bored with even though I've had it since July of last year It was much more fun on Sprint but even on Metro (to save money) it's still a great device.

It's still better then what 90% of people out there have, quit being melodramatic.

I moved on to the Epic Touch only because I cracked the screen to a million pieces. EVO is an excellent phone and I miss the ROMs but this epic is an amazing phone. We have development going on and it's getting there but I honestly feel like there's a black hole without my EVO haha idk. And don't get sucked into that LOS problem. If your not stupid, you'll figure it out.

I keep going and checking out the new phones and honestly, I have not found another phone to WOW me just yet. I have had mine since almost release day and with MikG ROMs, it runs great for everything I want to do. The dual 1.2 might be faster but not that much faster for what I use it for. I can email, text and watch Netflix on it. Ohe yeah, i make calls too! What should a smart phone do?
I will look at the real HTC EVO2 when it comes out but until them, I will keep my EVO!
I use my Evo every day despite having numerous more advanced devices. Mostly as a hotspot. But after using lots of dual core devices, man....you're clueless if you really think the dual cores aren't a massive upgrade. Evo was a bomb phone at the time, but at the rate tech advances....using my Evo the same day as my G2x or EpicTouch is painful. Every single interaction is slow as hell.
But it definitely holds a place in my heart and is definitely my overall fav of the phones I've own(ed).
Without the Evo, we wouldn't have the 4"+ size as the minimum standard for smartphones, 4G and so much else which is now common. Also it is one of the best supported phones in the dev community, and will be for a while. I can't wait to see what ICS will look like on it.
There is a night and day difference between a stock Evo and a rooted one with a nice Aosp rom like decks/Miui. I honestly don't feel like its slow and I use it for a ton of stuff, except 3d games.
For 99% of people, its more phone than they need, even today. That is not outdated. Not everyone wants to buy the top of the line greatest device, right?
Question for people who moved on - did you notice better reception, gps, or battery life? Besides performance, that's what matters most.
Even though part of me really wants a new phone, for most things, I am satisfied with the EVO.
Part of me kind of wants to wait for mid next year in order to really appreciate the upgrade from my EVO to what will likely be a quad-core beast......imagine the jump in speed upgrading from a single-core to quad, heh.
The Evo is way outdated in the numbers game, but it does everything I need and has a sweet kickstand.
This was also the first and likely only smart phone to wow me. When I first got into smart phones I had my G1 and was familiar with other devices like iPhone but the Evo blew me away the first time I saw one.
My only reason to upgrade was to not lose my upgrade. I bought a phone that I know will sell for big dollars.
I sort of like it now...it's a great phone for when I don't have time to screw with android.
The Evo is far from outdated. Despite it's age, it's hardware is still more than competent.
Yes, new CPUs may have improved instruction sets and/or optimizations to take advantage of, but the Snapdragon in the Evo is still hearty enough to run Android just fine. Although the Adreno 200 GPU is not a monster in the 3D department, it still leverages more than enough for almost any application, including most games.
Ice Cream Sandwich will take advantage of hardware acceleration, which will get more from the Adreno 200 than we ever have before, and should actually make Android run faster and be less CPU-intensive than previous iterations of Android.
The EVO, although dated, is still a strong device. Sure, we all have a desire to upgrade, and if you don't want the Galaxy Nexus you're lying--but honestly, there is little real reason to upgrade. ICS is going to run like a top on the Evo, and reinvigorate most user's experiences with their devices.
The EVO was my first smartphone, and I can say im probably gonna hang onto it for a while more. It does everything I need!

Until Sprint launches the upcoming Nexus, I'm happy because of two words: Boot Manager. I have five ROMs that I flow through... Can't beat it.

When I buy a new phone, the decision is not 'is this better than my current phone?'. It's 'is this phone good enough to last the next 2 years?'.
Evo passed that test. The Nexus does not. esp not at the $300 price point.
Really at a conundrum though. I love the development of HTC phones. The Nexus intrigues me, but the lack of ROM development for Nexus phones (outside of Cyanogen variants and Miui) makes me wonder if I will get bored.

I would miss my EVO a lot when it comes time to upgrade. Gonna hang out as long as I can. The EVO design isn't too much of an upgrade in my opinion, the EVO 3d really catches my eye but the 3d would just be a novelty played out quickly. The photon is wierdly shaped lol and the epic touch is too thin in my opinion. Just my opinion, don't flame me but I feel like I would break it in my hands.
I'm personally gonna wait to see if HTC releases anything else exciting since I'm not due for an upgrade for another year anyways.

While the processor is only a single core, it still flies in my book. Waiting for a quad core phone... Whew.
The GPU may not be the best, but it does what I ask of it, and that's what matters. I haven't had any problems with 3D.
I'm still amazed by the fact that they put an 8 MP camera in a phone.
The battery life only sucks if you leave it completely stock and don't root it. Find the right ROM and kernel and battery life is dramatically increased.
The HVGA display is plenty of resolution for a phone. My blacks are black and my colors are bright...
I have a question for you...are you sure we're taking about the same phone? Because I'm pretty sure I'm in an EVO 4G thread.

Welp...I know this is a pretty insignificant thread to start, but I wanted to show my appreciation to this group and the devs that helped make the Evo 4G great. Thanks to all of the devs of the ROMS that had a chance to grace my phone, from the stock derivatives, to CM6 and 7, and especially MIUI. I'll still be using those ROMS by the way, but on my new EVO 3D that I received on today.
And so onto new adventures, rooting, ROM tests and ROM dailys, and such like.
Thanks all...see you in the EVO 3D section.

Sorry bout your luck sad to see u move from a great phone to a waste of HTCs talent, I ditched my 3d after 3 days for a photon, got stuck with the photon and ended up adding a 5th line to get the SGS2. The SGS2 is a wonderful device but I wasn't a fan so I gave it to my dad and stuck with my OG til something better comes out. Personally id like a device same size as my evo with the exynos 1.5 ghz dual core and 2 - 4 gig of ram preferably 4, as the RAM is what really powers performance and not so much the processor in a phone. Screenwise is like 4.3 - 4.5" in samoled as the amoleds save a lot of power and look really nice color wise. Id also love a aluminum housing like ob the tbolt as the housing alone helps with heat distribution/dissipation.

The ram doesn't power it you silly. The ram allows you to run the os and the application on the foreground and background.
As for the other specs: yes please.
