Since January i been waiting to root my phone. Htc wildfire 2.2.1
I already tried with unrevoked, and a lots of other ways and never with sucess annd today i have been sucess
I root my wildfire with alpharev to put S-Off and then with SuperOneClickv1.9.5.
Restart and voila.....
Go to hxxp://alpharev.nl/x/beta/ & download the windows version
2. When it asks you for the serial, enter your phone's serial number. Go to Settings > About phone & enter your serial. Copy the code given into notepad
3. Make sure you turn on USB debugging in Settings > Application > Development
4. Install the HTC Driver. Mine is in the memory card that came with the phone
5. Extract & run alpharevx.exe. Use the code given earlier. Then connect your phone. It should detect & your phone should display USB debugging mode
6. Wait for it to complete. Once it is completed, you can remove your phone.
7. To check turn off your phone. Then press volume down & power. On top it should display alpharevx & s-off
Clockwork recovery
1. This is to enable you to install a custom rom, and also for backup
2. Get the fastboot tool for windows
3. Copy the fastboot file you downloaded to the alpharevx folder. Copy the folder to drive C so it is easier to run command prompt. Rename the folder to wildfire
4. Download the recovery for Wildfire. Extract & rename it to wildfire.img
5. Open command prompt. Type cd c:/wildfire & fastboot flash recovery wildfire.img
6. Download & install HBOOT driver from unrevoked. Go into bootloader (volume down & power), select fastboot. Connect your phone & it will display fasboot usb cable
(take this part from web - Author: Joel512)
Next step just need to download and run SuperOneClickv1.9.5 and restart
I don`t known if you people already know. If so I apologize
Sorry for my Inglish
It would be more useful if u can share the video 'how-to' in YouTube I'm yet trying dis coz on Mac rite now.

What are you trying on Mac.
AlpharevX will not support Mac platform right. Only windows and Linux supported. Easiest is Linux. Live CD is perfect.

uninstall htc sync if you have it installed.
Its uninstalled, thats the first thing I did to avoid any complications!!
Now what do I do???? I waited for around 20 mins but its not going ahead!!
try this way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
The guide referenced in the link above sure worked for me
Just a word of advice, the linux version of alpharevX gets stuck on 'waiting for device' on my ubuntu 11.04 so don't use it... if you are gonna be using alpharevX to root your phone do not do it on a virtual machine (wouldn't work on my winxp in VMware Player, the phone would just reboot and get stuck), do it on a proper win machine.

After s-off, waiting for device should be in the fast boot flashing recovery process. If it is so, the device is to be connected in fastboot mode and then the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" is to be entered from command prompt (command prompt cd into fastboot folder, and recovery.img is also to be kept in this folder). The waiting for device warning around 1min is normal but shouldn't take more.
Ignore if going with other process.

Make sure your Wildfire is in Fastboot Mode. Power Down your phone, Start with Vol Down + Power Key. This will open Bootloader Mode. Then connect to your PC with the USB Cable, Select "Fastboot' mode (By using Volume keys), and Press Power button on it.

I did as you said, Once I connected the phone to the PC while it was in boot loader I got a msg on the pc saying "driver not correctly installed" but I continued anyway and chose fast boot by pressing the power button. Now its giving me 4 options -> Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader and Power down with the Title Fastboot USbB at the Top. Which do i choose??/
Are you shore u have all the files in the same folder and you need to have USB Debugger ON to.
The Alpharev take to long to finish. It`s happening the same with me.....
and you must put the code given by Alpharev website.

solution: for HTC DESIRE
1. Download the Android SDK and extract
2. Connect the phone to the PC via USB
3. Go into Fastboot (hold 'back key' then power on)
5. On your PC enter the command prompt, navigate to the SDK\tools folder and enter
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"

hi guys.. could you help me with my problem.!
I have an LG GT540 android 1.6 firmware version(stock)
So here are my problems:
1. I tried to upgrade it from 1.6 to 2.1 using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...27&postcount=3 thanks to lavero.burgos for posting it, I was successful at first part, but I cant follow the next because my device wont go to fast boot,, I tried putting it off, then camera+poweron but it doesnt do anything. It doesn't light, no lg logo appears, just nothing although the computer can read the drive when I connect it through usb. So I cannot flash it to 2.3,2.3 because it just wont go to fastboot.
2. When I turn it on normally, It takes long before it response like after 30sec to light, but just light, no lg logo appears although it wasnt bricked because I can use it normally after just waiting to on.(annoying)
3. Since I upgraded it to 2.1, I lost all 3rd party application and the internal apps were the only left, so I copied all my saved apps (.apk) to my sd card but the problem is there is no saved app on my phone to read and install those apps from my sd card.(irritating)
4. My device wont read my sim card, when I start it it says "sim card unprovisioned" so basically I cant connect to mobile networks here in the philippines(im using globe telecom). I feel that Im stucked in the middle of nowhere since I cannot contact and txt all my family and friends.
5. I cant connect to wifi,, when my device detects wi-fi, I try to connect to it but from the log it only try to connect but doesn't obtain the ip address. Even when the wi-fi signal is strong, it does the same thing.
So please help me guys,,I want to hear from my fellow xda-developers badly,,,
PS. also those who have problems with their LG GT540 pls feel free to post and share it with us here... thank you all guys in advance....

Your phone is/was bricked
Hey, I'm sorry to bing back such an old thread, but I just wanted to say this for posterity: your phone has/had a soft-brick. This means: you can't see Android nor LG boot logos, can't enter Recovery and (maybe) can't access Fastboot, but I'm not too sure on that last one. Besides that, the phone works "okay", but you should try to fix it.
Basically this soft-brick is almost always caught when upgrading from 1.6 to 2.1, so everyone should have it, including me. It took me a whole year to realize how to friggin' fix it lol, but here goes what I did:
Thanks for your help everyone, I came to a solution after a full year lol. Here's my enlightenment, from another Thread:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to leave my 2 cents here, I've been trying to do my best since around august 2014, no success. 2 days ago I retried this, and I DID IT! I will tell everyone what I did very shortly:
My problem that I solved: I can boot, device works like a charm. But: no boot logos, no recovery.
My solution for TL;DR: UNINSTALL ALL DRIVERS FROM DEVICE MANAGER 1ST, then reinstall. After that, flash a fastboot ROM and use it to WIPE ALL THE DATA IN YOUR PHONE! THIS was what I needed and was never explained: you had to WIPE the old data in order to get the boot screens back.
IN THIS ORDER (THANK YOU to those people from previous replies, gathering all your info was of great value):
Uninstall all of your phone drivers from your PC!!! This is what made most of my headaches go away, just use Device Manager and uninstall anything from LGE. After that, plug in your device in your USB ports (always BACK ports, not front ports, important). It should detect all drivers and download them.
IF it fails (it generally does with LGE USB Modem), you can go to Device Manager > Unknown Device (the one that wasn't recognized) > Right Click and Update > Choose 2nd option, then choose "choose from a list of local controllers" (or whatever the button says). After that, scroll down to LG Electronics, Inc. and install what didn't install.
I also found these drivers, but I did not test them: http://www.mediafire.com/download/p693hcz6kkouh19/USB_Driver_LG_GT540.zip
Huzzah!
Now you're set to begin:
FIRST thing you wanna do is a factory reset, this is something I'd forgotten with time, don't make the same mistake as I did. You can do it by turning your phone on and pressing Volume +/- & Home & Quick Search buttons all together for 5 seconds (it works, be patient and wait for it, even if you open the camera or any other stuff).
Download this Google SDK Tools (unzip and put the folder in C:\ drive) and this Fastboot drivers for GT540 (unzip and put the files inside the folder in C:\android-sdk).
Skip this next line if you know your ROM has fastboot.
Now, if you don't have a ROM with fastboot, I recommend you use either European Open+Fastboot or V20C Orange France Fastboot ROM.
Click to collapse
Since you have Fastboot enabled, now all you need to do is turn off your device (all this with its battery on it, no weird things) and hold the Camera button before turning it back on. This should take you either to a black screen, or simply to no display, like me. Either one will work anyways.
Now press the Windows key > Type cmd and open it with Right Click > Run as Administrator.
In it, type all this, command by command (you can paste by right clicking):
cd C:\android-sdk
fastboot -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
And now it's go time! Do what everyone else says in here: Take out your phone's battery, SD and SIM cards, fire KDZ Updater up as Administrator (If your KDZ freezes, then it's either faulty or you did not install msxml, look for a good KDZ that comes with that file and delete your current one), choose CS_Emergency PhoneMode and:
1-Plug your phone while holding the volume DOWN button (don't worry! My phone didn't show "Download Mode" either, if you hear the Windows "Somethingpluggedin" Bump noise, it's ok).
2-Flash French V20A
3-Unplug your phone once KDZ says "==FINISHED==".
4-Plug it once again, holding the volume DOWN button.
5-Flash out.kdz (remember! it's CS_Emergency).
Click to collapse
THANK YOU XDA!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, if you look in here you'll find how to flash an awesome ROM, Cyanogen Mod 10 (should say "Final Version#2).

Had the same problem. Try this, switch off the phone and unplug from pc, hold volume down then then plug usb back in whilst holding vol down. Should boot to fastboot mode...if not, you can disconnect phone battery and follow above steps again whilst battery is disconnected.
But sadly the p8 lite didn't have removable battery
I know...which is why I took off the back cover and disconnected the battery from the circuit...

Got to OnePlus support center and go in download section and download official ROM. Hold power and volume up bottons and connect it to PC. After that go in folder where adb files are located on your PC (If you don't have them, search on Google for "adb install 15 sec"). Hold left shift on your keyboard and right click your mouse in that folder on an empty space. Click something related with command window and type "fastboot devices". If you get some kind of feedback it's 2minute of work! If you don't have anything come up, try to start your device in fastboot mode again (second sentence in this post). After you got a feedback from command "fastboot devices" flash custom recovery (I suggest TWRP, Google it and download the .IMG file for your device). To flash a custom recovery type this in command line: "fastboot flash recovery IMAGE_NAME.img"
*replace IMAGE_NAME with actual image name...
After that boot in recovery by disconnecting the phone and powering off the phone. Press and hold power button and volume down buttons till blue TWRP logo appears. After that connect your device on PC and transfer your .Zip file(ROM) to internal memory of your device. You should go back to main menu of recovery and select wipe>advanced wipe, select everything BUT INTERNAL STORAGE!!!***IMPORTANT***
Then you just install ROM like you would normally do...
Press thanks it i helped! Hope I didn't missed something.
This is written in mind with that you have unlocked bootloader like you have written in your post...

This guide has various approaches to recover your phone, remember to research first and don't type carelessly any adb commands, it's not enough to just tick "oem unlock" in developer options, you'd have to type command on fastboot too, to unlock the bootloader.. there are many guides and youtube tutorials on this subject, absolutely unnecessary to blindly kill it, anyways I'll never understand how you can be so reckless with your phone..

Edit: the state you brought your phone into is called "hard bricked" - have fun..

Don't!
If you get no joy from following the instructions in the link given by @Sam Nakamura, try @fareed_xtreme's Official OP2 Stock Reset to OOS 3.0.2

Aight thank you i had some suspicion it might be ...-bricked didnt know which though so thank you
If you can get in the bootloader then possibly the device is still OK. Just need to get the right ROM.
Try different TWRP versions. Sometimes, one particular version can save the world.
Hello, I've bought the HTC U Ultra for my birthday at a very good price (250€) and I'm very satisfied about this phone!
Only, it's been 3 months since I try to root without any success. I can not find the "fastboot" mode in the bootloader and I do not know how.
Yet I followed all the tutorials to the letter (French expression I do not know if you go to understand ... x)) but I have never reached that point. I have the ADBs and all the other files needed.
Also, I made all the updates at the first launch of the phone. Is that why it's blocked?
Thank you in advance.
PS: I also unlocked the bootloader in the development options.
PS n°2: I post here because the French forums are desperate desert for this phone.
Hold both volume down + power together for around 10 seconds. Your phone will vibrate after that. You will then enter download mode, which is actually fastboot.

The computer is unable to recognise your phone. Maybe another port.

Are you sure you have USB Debugging on and you are using ADB driver from Google, not the one comes from HTC Sync?

I use minimal adb 1.4.2 and i don't installed htc sync.
I use adb command line directly from Android Developers and have absolutely no problem. Maybe uninstall minimal adb and try that one. I can't help you with something I am not familiar with.

You can install TWRP as long as your bootloader is unlocked, regardless of the status of S-ON or S-OFF

double check "Allow USB debugging" for the computer. From Developers "Revoke USB debugging Auth" . Unplug & plug back USB cable should come up with dialog box for auth. You may (not sure) this from cmd: adb reboot fastboot which could come up with error msg: "error: device unauthorized. This adbd's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set; try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong. Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device."
You cant find fastboot mode because it is now called download mode...
