Exchange-Mail forwarding needs to download attachements first - Galaxy S II General

Hi folks,
I have a great problem. I have connected my Galaxy SII with our Exchange server. When I am trying to forward an email with an attachment, it downloads the whole attachment first and then sends it to the recipient.
On my HD2 with an Android Rom it forwards the email directly over the exchange server.
I am running the standard Samsung T-Mobile Ger Rom.

not anyone with an idea?

is there no one with the same issue?

Same issue here:
sgs2 with Windows SBS 2003 (Exchange 2003) -> Forwarding working normally
sgs2 with Windows SBS 2011 (Exchange 2010) -> Attachment being downloaded first
Strange behaviour, if anybody find a fix...

MS Push email didnt work at all !!!

Good day all
I have set my HD2 to sync with my work email but the problem is that push email doesn't work at all, I have to click on send / receive manually to get my inbox updated. I am sure I did the setting correctly, also I have activated push email.
I dont know why it doesn't work in the htc hd2, my friend has an iphone 3GS and it works perfectly for him, he receives Work emails on time.
is it problem in the Rom it self ? my rom version is 1.48.405.2 (WWE)
can anyone help me please

What about when you connect your HD2 into your pc via usb and let it connect via activesync, do you then get your emails?

I had tried to connect it via USB cable, in the begining of the connection when windows mobile device center sync with the HD2, it receives the emails but if the sync process stopped and I kept it connected for a while during that time I cant receive any new email on time and the inbox will not be updated unless I open windows mobile device center again and click on the Sync icon and after it sync again the inbox will be updated.
this mean even when I connect it via usb , it will not receives any new emails on time. it will only receive during sync process
Even though my push email is working i'm not convinced its working 100 percent of the time but i have always put this down to it being my push email provider's fault. Are you trying to use the GMail push email service? I ask because that is notoriously unstable. Can you try another push email service? Maybe GMail's sevice if you are not already using it?

Hi - I have the push email working fine with my employer's Exchange server, using HD2 with 1.48 ROM, so it should be possible to make it work.
One suggestion - delete the current Outlook account in Windows Mobile Device Center, and delete it from the HD2 as well. Then create the Outlook account again, making sure to do this on the HD2 disconnected from Windows Mobile Device Center, i.e. using the HD2 standalone over wireless or 3g connection.
You might want to unselect Calendar and Contacts sync until you have email sync working. You can configure the sync for them again afterwards.
This is just my personal experience but I have found it much more reliable to initiate the Outlook setup standalone from the phone. Good luck !
Jon.

I have the same problem. My device was v1.43.
updated to 1.48, push didnt work.
updated to 1.61, push email still doesnt work for me. My exchange server is from the company i work for too. Many other employees use Blackbery Bolds and they keep receiving mails as they arrive but i have to send/receive.
yes i chose the option to receive `as items arrive`.
go get Flexmail...fantastic app...specially now that its on sale for US$ 4.97 if you buy from WebIS site direct
Have you tried to configure your exchange account directly in ActiveSync on your phone ?

Yes, I configure it from my phone.
but actually not from activesync, i configure it from the email tab in htc manila
it seems push email doesnt work on the HD2..
I tried all possible solutions but no chance to solve this issue
Have you tried push mail with Gmail? If it works then it should be incompatibility issue or VPN access that restrict HD2 from accessing the company's email server.
My push with Gmail works perfectly. And I didn't setup using ActiveSync.
>>it seems push email doesnt work on the HD2.
I guarantee it does, I've both an iphone and HD2, whilst making the transition from iphone to HD2, both phones have the same email account configured (zarafa a linux replacement for exchange server with z-push ) and emails arrive more or less simultaneously to both devices.
Maybe you'd like to post your email settings and i'll compare them to my own.

It does. Just try and config a Gmail Exchange account in Active Sync, it should work. If it doesnt, there's a problem with your phone.
Got the same problem. And also running before same mailbox with a iPhone. (works great). Same mailbox is now also running on a iPod touch.
Push doesn't work, from the beginning. My outlook account is from a hosted exchange server. I'm gonna try to remove and perhaps try with another mailbox (never used by iphone/ipod).
Update: Did some tests. With another provider (T-mobile) it works. With KPN Hi it doesnt. Seems like some providers doesnt support SSL.

Beaware: DesireHD Compatible with exchange 2010?

Hi
I have been testing a DesireHD Rom Port to HD2.
I'm posting this just to let you know that if you have Exchange 2010 you may have a problem with DesireHD. (exchange 2007 with sp is ok)
The problem is:
I can sync, contacts, calendar, download emails, delete emails but I can't send emails or download attachment.
It does not show an error it just does not send the email or does not download the attach
This is happening with any Desire HD ROM port I have test .(no problem with regular desire Rom )
I have been search in Google and looks like the problem is that Exchange 2010 has a new ActiveSync protocol EAS 14 and the Desire HD Rom is using this new protocol. Normal desire uses EAS 12
I have found a fix for Iphone 4.0 that was having the same problem.
http://www.jimgoings.com/2010/08/fix-for-iphone-ios-4-and-exchange-2010-active-sync-issues/
Hope this is fixed on the real device..

Received my Desire HD today. I use Exchange 2010 SP1, and can confirm that I cannot send emails or download attachments. If I change the settings to automatically download them or select to download them individually, it does not download - I get a "Network Error" message.
Also, if I link a contact to Facebook or Twitter then contacts stop synching with Exchange - I get a "Sync Protocol Error" message.
I'm very disappointed that HTC's "flagship" product does not work correctly with Exchange 2010.
Everything worked great with the Desire, but Desire HD is very problematic.

Do you have more info about your setup?
Info Need it:
Do you have Exchange 2010 SP1?
Do you have a firewall? ISa Server or TMG?
Can you check if you are using EAS 14 or EAS 12? This info is on OWA /Options/All Options /Phone/ Select the Phone and Details.. Down in the page there is the info
Thanks!

This euh ... sucks!
There is an email.apk from stock android 2.2 that does work, but rather see htcemail work.
I've received a disappointingly generic response from HTC today, which really does not answer my issue. I've sent a reply today, so I will probably have to wait another 2 days for a response.
Response from HTC:
Thank you for contacting us
I am sorry that you have been experiencing problem with your handset
please make sure you followed the below steps;
Synchronizing with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account
You can only add one Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account on your phone. You can sync with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap Add account > Exchange ActiveSync.
Enter the Exchange ActiveSync account details, and then tap Next.
Your corporate Exchange Server must support auto-detect for the phone to automatically set up the Exchange ActiveSync account. If your corporate Exchange Server does not support auto-detect, you will need to enter your Exchange Server settings after you tap Next. Ask your Exchange Server administrator for details.
4. Select the types of information you want to synchronize, and then tap Finish setup
Managing your accounts
Changing general sync settings
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Select or clear the following:
Background data. If this is selected, applications can send and receive online account information even if you are not currently using them.
Auto-sync. If this is selected, applications can use the sync schedule defined in the account settings. If this is cleared, you will need to sync accounts manually
Changing account settings
You can change settings such as the sync frequency and the types of information synchronized, the kinds of notification you receive, and the way that account information is displayed.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap the account that you want to edit.
Edit the account settings.
Synchronizing an account manually
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap the account that you want to sync.
Tap Sync now.
I've also mailed HTC about this issue, no response yet.
p.s. the response you got is lame; they tell you how to set up the sync but not how to fix their faulty implementation of it.
I've had another reply from HTC. It is as useless as the first reply:
I am sorry that the service is taking more than one occurrence to resolve your problem We advise you to clear the email application from manage applications and restart your phone please Android 2.2 From the Home screen, press the Menu key. Tap Settings. Tap Applications. Tap Manage Applications. Tap All. Tap the application in question. (e-mail ) Tap Clear Data. In addition to this you can deleting and recreating the Exchange sync account on your phone please
I've always had HTC phones for the since Orange SPV in 2002(?). I've never had to contact HTC support before this week. If this is how bad HTC support is then I will never be buying another HTC phone. They've lost my support and custom now. Doesn't look like they will even accept there is an issue synching with Exchange 2010, so no chance of a fix anytime soon.

Have you tried to send an email? (It look like it sends but doesn't actually go anywhere)
Have you tried to open any attachments?
Damn. You are right. Can't send mail. So still no fix?!
So i have a work-around after reading the above and other forums.
i turned off "Exchange" sync in my phone for email – left it on for calendar as i like the HTC calendar widget.
Then installed this stock email APK
http://denness.net/Email.apk
Then set it up to sync JUST email..
Then changed the "Mail" (HTC) icon on my home sceren to the "Email" (Stock android) icon.
Now all works well.
The HTC mail app is a BIT nicer – but not by much. The stock app is pretty good too.
So until HTC release an OTA update for this problem (like they have for HTC Desire HD), the above is a reasonably good work-around.
Wonder if we should contact HTC to tell them? Or will they issue an update soon enough?
When using the HTC app, the EAS version reported by webmail is 14.
When using the stock android app, the EAS version is 12.

You just need IMAP enabled on the server.
Of course this only does mail, but you can still sync your contacts/calendar with activesync(just not the mail).
You can't seem to update contacts on the phone either (but I can live with that until they fix it).
Calendar syncs both ways ok (from what I can see).
and unfortunately no, you can't browse the corporate address book...

Seems strange that HTC issued an update to the HTC Desire HD OTA to fix this (they changed the version of ActiveSync (AES) from 14 back to 12).. but not yet for the Desire Z??

I dropped HTC a support request through their web page yesterday, referring to the Desire HD fix etc. Haven't heard anything back yet (not holding my breath).
Suggest you do the same - the more people complaining, the more likely they are to fix it...
I've also done the same.. let's see what happens!
Desire Z in combination with Exchange 2010 OWA EAS Policy
We have the same issue here at my work.
We ordered 45 HTC Desire Z phones, and me and my colleagues are one of the lucky ones to get a new business phone
We have a Microsoft Exchange 2010 Mailserver with ActiveSync OWA email services enabled. We make use of the Activesync EAS Policy (EAS14?) that enables Remote Wipe, requires user to set a system pin (simple pin) and uses phone encryption.
Now on all other HTC phones (HD2, Desire standard, Touch Pro 2) we have no problems using this phone and exchange 2010 with policy combination.
The HTC Desire Z has some other Email client that cannot handle this Policy..
Tuesday i contacted HTC Benelux (NL) but the problem was not yet known there.. i believe the combination of the Desire Z with Exchange 2010 and a EAS policy is quite unique, so worldwide there are not a lot of users that have problems i think..
HTC is still investigating on my Incident, and they are now using a test account on my Exchange OWA. I really hope they bring out a fix soon.. i'm not about to change my Policy settings, and licensing 45 phones with Nitrodesk Touchdown is not really part of the plan..
Good that HTC are investigating. You should mention to them that the HTC Desire HD had identical problems and HTC issued an over-the-air (OTA) update that fixed it - by changing the EAS policy back to version 12..
PLease keep us informed!!

Email client and image attachment not appearing

If I receive an email send in plain text (from iphone is my test) - the attachment (*.jpg) does not appear. If I check the same email on a different machine etc - all is fine.

[Q] problems with calendar invitations in mail client

I've recently updated my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 (stock rom!). So far all is working fine, with one exception: I've set up an active sync connection in the samsung mail client to our company-mailserver (Exchange 2013), and I can get all mails, calender, contacts and so on... but when I receive a calendar-invitation I cannot open it! I also cannot open accept-notifications in my inbox on Android (from calendar-invitations which I've send out using Outlook on my PC). This is very bad for me, and so far the only bug I've found in my device. Just to be complete: I've used Touchdown as mailclient on Android in the last couple of years, and I've decided to switch to the stock-mailclient because of the clean interface in material-design here - in comparisation the interface of Touchdown is "historical".
can anyone help me out with my problem?
many thanks
Gerald
