Technically speaking that's listed as a 1.6 change ;-) however it hasn't appeared as changed down the list for the more current versions either so it should have still been fairly obvious.

The radio linked is the latest for froyo? 402w_1?

Will this have better battery life than 1.7?
If there are only two changes to this... I'm not seeing the point in updating.

Dont see how it could have better battery life. Only two changes
Features of 1.8:
HUGE update to the Das BAMF Toolkit
Included Rom Stats application

Yay thank you for this. I though it had been abandoned for gingerbread rom. I am sick of them too many bugs. Prefer froyo. I prefer froyo keyboard as well

I've been on gingerbread multiple times and I always keep coming back to this 1 this rom is solid

Not really sure how much better battery life can get? 1.7 battery life is amazeballs.

Is it me or Verizon's contact backup service is gone?

Will this work with the newer MR2.5 radio? Always got sporadic reboots on the MR2 radio.

I want to know what you're doing, cause my battery life is definitely not "amazeballs."

Loaded this rom up yesterday. After a full nights charge and resetting the Battery stats this morning.
12% drain after 4 hours. On vibrate, moderate texting, some WWF, 2 - 5 min phone calls, and some light email.
will report more battery stats later.

Wow it's already out? I'm still on 2.8.0, but I've been getting pretty good battery life. I noticed that turning wifi on overnight helped me a great bit and also since I really don't use my phone at work I leave it on edge instead of 3g.

To those of you running any one of the new Gingerbread Sense Roms

How are you doing on battery life? One of the features Gingerbread has over Froyo is that it's supposed to have better power management..Personally I have not found this to be true with any of the AOSP ROMs..so now I'm curious about the leaked "official" roms...Better, same, worse?? Due to my busy schedule and long days I'm not exactly tempted to find out on my own, so I'm looking to the community.

CM7 Where is the list of issues/bugs?

Finally decided to update my ROM. Thinking about going with CM7 but I want to know what I am getting into. Is there a current list of bugs? Last one I see was updated in May. Or am I missing something?
There is basically 2 bugs, battery life and GPS. There are work arounds to fix/improve them. CM7 is very nice ROM, its my daily driver.

What rom are you using with a Bell atrix?

I have a bell atrix on stock bell 2.2.2. It is rooted as well.
I want to go to a gb rom but have no idea what is compatible in Canada on a Bell atrix. Most of the roms say AT&T or are built from that gb and radio. (which I am assuming would cause me some radio / reception/ compatibility issues)
Im running kens alien rom on my bell ATRIX, all you gotta do is make sure you have the right kernel, and preferably the right radio as well.

I dont see any links to a bell radio or kernel

Depends on which model you have. There's a d00 and 1100. The easiest way to find out is by downloading and opening an app called terminal emulator. Once you're in terminal emulator, issue the following commands exactly as you see them here:
su
cat /proc/cmdline
You'll either see this: tegrapart=mbr:d00:100:800,kpanic:2100:400:800:
Or this: tegrapart=mbr:1100:100:800,kpanic:2500:400:800:
Whatever is after mbr is what model you have (either d00 or 1100). Once you know that, you'll know which kernel you can flash to any gingerbread rom. I've been using faux123's d00 kernel and have had no complaints. It has worked on every gb rom I've tried. As far as radios go, I've been using the stock at&t radio that comes with most roms. I've had great battery life and good reception. I know the 2nd build of cm7 uses 1 kernel for all phones, so you won't have to worry about flashing the proper kernel to get the ram fix for your international phone.
How is the battery life and reception on the gb youre using compared to when you were on a stock bell software?
Ill try terminal emulator later today.
Do you recommend going to gb?
CM7 pre beta #2
Couldn't be any happier with it's performance. I am using faux123 oc international kernel, and the bell radio here's the links. Make sure you read carefully that's all I gotta say

I would, but that's just me. You'll need to unlock your bootloader to go to gb, and that will possibly void your warranty. I say possibly because it doesn't say definitively one way or the other if your warranty will be voided or not if you unlock your bootloader. My battery life is great. I'm getting about 2 days of good usage from CM7. My reception is great as well. I have no complaints.

Well trolled? I'd be sad but I should have seen that one coming. Ah well, patience, it will come.
So after unlocking the bootloader and all required steps, and then flashing a new rom , kernel, and radio, is there something I have to do about a battery drain issue that I am reading about in gb?
Still 2.2 stock rooted. I'm in no hurry to get GB.
Will probably wait it out until CM7 (nightly) "officially" arrives...
I was experiencing heavy battery drain with all the GB ROM's until I went to CM7 pre-beta (#1). I tried all the tricks, tips etc but nothing seemed to work until I used CM7. Now i'm getting battery life better than I ever did on froyo. I've been consistently getting 22-28hrs with moderate useage (3+ hrs of display time, 1+ hrs of voice calls, plus all the texts, im's etc)
It seems every ROM affects everyone differently. Some people were getting great results using Alien ROM vs CherriPi ROM, and vice versa. You may have to try a few out and see what works for you. My personal opinion is there is something related to BLUR in the new GB that is causing heavy battery drain, because as soon as I went CM7 (with no blur) my battery life almost tripled from what it was.
Most if not all the roms out there have the battery fix already installed so you should be ok. Although battery life is a bit worse then froyo I gotta say, upgrading is still well worth your time in my opinion though.

GB ROM vs. CM10 ROM on battery life?

Someone said that the Touchwiz 4 or GB ROM is better on battery life then CM1? Is that true?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Battery life depends on many factors.
Try all the available roms for yourself. Anyone can give you an answer, but that doesn't mean it applies to your specific device and battery combination. With regard to battery life and custom roms on any device ... YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Exactly this... there are so many factors on battery life that comparing battery life from one person to another is pretty pointless... but trying the roms out on your phone is a good way to test because you will mainly use your phone the same regardless of the rom you use... so the only way to really tell what is going to have better battery life for you is to flash the roms and try them all out for a few days each....

GB Roms definitely have better battery life. Stock touchwiz fc09 rooted running shadow kernel gives a whole days worth of charge with 2 hour screen time. On cm20 you can watch the percentage drop as you use it, doing that on stock fc09 is like watching water boil lol. It also charges faster. 1 percent about every minute.
Of course, YMMV but this is my personal observation. I'm running cm10 cuz I like jb, but once they fix battery drain it'll be great. I know its possible cuz the battery lasts a lot longer on the night lies than the first unofficial and official preview builds.

My general experience is the same but on cm10. I typically get 3 hrs screen on time, 20-30 minutes of calls, 20 texts or so, usually an hour of game time...and about 18 hours total up time...and I am at around 15% at the end of the night. That was with the 1012 nightly. So it is definitely a YMMV thing! This is on a epic touch 1800 battery.

I haven't messed with my phone in forever. I currently have a CM7 nightly running on my Epic. Can I just flash a CM10 nightly or will I need to do something first? Like update clockwork mod or flash a different kernel <-- you can see my ignorance showing here.

I was running CM9 when I flashed CM10. I think you can just flash it but I am kind of a newbie. Just do a bit more research. And if you flash cm10, you have to odin back to stock, root, and then flash another ROM you want to flash something besides CM10.

If you want to stick with CM10, I've found that the SimplyCM10 kernel actually helped with battery life. YMMV, but I was draining 1800mAH in ~10 hours and it's >12hrs the last couple of days.

I have 1500 mAh and I go to school with 100%, come home with about 40-20% and to me, that's unacceptable. I never flashed kernels because I never thought they really did anything.

If battery life is a major concern for you, then probably avoid CM9 and CM10. But what you get in trade-off is amazing performance and features that only Jelly Bean has. I have a charger or two at home, one in the car and one at work.. plus a couple extra batteries for emergencies. So having the battery last 'all day' just doesn't mean much in my case.
I'm not too concerned with battery life, cause I have 2 stock 1500mAh batteries, and I usually carry around a usb cord in my backpack just in case.
