Gingerbread v2.3.3 Movistar Spain
Hi,
I can confirm you it is a Movistar release of Gingerbread v2.3.3. I downloaded and installed and definitively is Movistar Spain version of SGT P1000.
It includes some applications specifically designed for connecting to Movistar Web pages like eMocion, applications typically included at many other phones like Nokias called BiDi, a 2D barcode reader, etc.
I is nice to see Movistar offer to Spanish customers a new version like this, they wait many months and finally is available. I don't know because I usually flash latest versions present in this forum, now I have running XXJQ1 instead.

Very smooth and battery-efficient ROM. I used it for two days and it is very well put-together. Quite easily the best stock ROM I've tried on the Tab to date

Goodmorning,
Does someone know where I can download official HTC released ROM files? HTC doesn't publish their ROM images on a own FTP server, but referes to the operator sites. I bought my P3300 in the Netherlands (www.misco.nl), but my device isn't (apparently) imported trough the official Dutch importer (www.smartmobility.nl). Smart
Mobility doens't have my IMEI number in their database, with the result that I can't access the ROM-updates. Does someone know the official UK HTC importer, where I can try to check for ROM-updates? I suppose they will recognise my IMEI-number...
I can't understand why HTC distributes their ROM update so laborious. It would be much easier I they would publish it on www.htc.com. Is is easy, one central point for all customers and users are always 100% sure that they have the latest version of the ROM. Now we are depenable of the "operators" and they use IMEI-verification, maybe they are late with putting ROM updates online, etc, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Roger
Well for now you shouldn't worry - there aren't any 'official' upgrades at the moment (I just checked the Smart Mobility site). When/if they are released, I'm sure you'll be able to get them through different channels.
I wonder when the rest will follow.
Version number is the same as the leaked one. The page doesn't accept the serial number I entered (perhaps because mine was a UK phone?). Can someone report whether there is any difference between this ROM and the leaked one?
Well I think this update is for Nordic only. It's at the danish site too

yeah but it only shows the general build number. the are more detailed numbers when you actually check out the build on the hero.
so somebody has to update the official rom and post the detailed build infos here.
It seems impossible to download the new image using firefox on linux. Is HTC so bent on MS products that they won't support downloads with a non-MS browser, or is the support-page just broken?
U need Windows to do it

There is something strange going on on HTC Support site. Pages are not showing download links. Will probably be fixed soon.

Hope not. I ditched windows 15 years ago and don't intend to install it anywhere just to be able to maintain a linux-device
Jokes aside, I believe it will be possible to extract an update.zip that can be installed the same way as MoDaCo's custom rom, although that method will remain unsupported by HTC.
will this update work with a non branded hero? being that the update is posted on the norway webpage
just installer the nordic, sweden update. awesome. Major difference in the entire feel of the OS.
Did it perform a system reset? Need to know whether I need to save my files or not.
yes it did, wiped everything on the phonememory. I used mybackup to back it all up.
What backup software did you use?
I have a SIM unlocked HTC Hero and i'm in the UK. Should I wait for the official UK ROM or just install the nordic one? Has anyone got any experience in installing the Nordic ROM to a non-nordic hero?
axe look the topic above you
Mybackup is great to back up everything (except scenes).
Hi, guys.
First of all, please notice that this is not the typical 'Hi, I'm new, could you please explain to me what I didn't want to read in the howto?'.
I've been testing Android on Blackstone since the very first release, where nothing but the UI worked. I managed to make Movistar data work in each distro it was possible, read everything and searched everything, and the matter is this:
Movistar Spain 3G data is not working in most of the android distros. It worked in some pre-XDAndroid releases, and it worked in only one XDAndroid (January 18, I think, but I'm not sure). I'm not the only user with this problem (all Movistar users are affected) and it looks like it's an specific of Movistar.
Some times we complained about this, we were required to provide an adb logcat, but I don't know how to do it... i searched, but found myself unable to 'do that'... as far as I know, any Movistar user did it.
But would like Movistar users to tell their experience here, and try alltogether to get a solution.
Thanks,
At least you read my ADB how to.. right?

I did, but found it too diffucult, or there was something that I didn't understand. I'll try again.
Thanks.
It seems to be the same problem Vodafone NL users have. The only time 3G worked was couple of months ago, with one of TuxHero's builds by entering the apn manually in the startup.txt. With the xandroid releases no one the dutch Vodafone user has managed to make data work...
I have also tried MANY MANY MANY setups on my all the android versions i have tried and havn't been able to get Movistar Spain 3g on any of them since tux's....
It's quite frustrating.......
Anything i can do to help i am 100% willing to test!
same problem here no data with vodafone nl . so vodafone nl and the spain movistar both have the same problem
I´ve tried many setup but no works 3G

is can that version be used with the newest zlimage etc ?
I have to admit i have the same issue with Mobistar belgium.
Worked with Tuxhero's build, but none Xandroid runs 3g.

Yes, can be used. But is unstable too
when turn on the telephone, there are errors... but one of them is:
init: cannot find setupmodem.sh, setupmodem disabled
more or less...
Anybody knows this problem? perhaps is the 3G problem...
I have tested the last release (4th feb) wich has some files from nexus one that could fix data problems but still nothing...
I havn't lost hope though!!!
Keep up the amazing work!
I hope too
hmm is somone already know whye this problem is coused ?
anybody did, as far as I know. but it would be nice if an españolito could make and provide the logcat. I wasn"t able to do it...
Please mind some people have this issue with other operators in other countries.
In Belgium, Mobistar for exemple; in Netherlands vodafone ... Seems to be a proxy matter.
Read this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584559&page=114
Thanks, jeanfrederic. Find some interesting things.
First one, Movistar 3G data includes a proxy, but you can override it in winmo with no problem (well, one problem: push mail won't work). BTW, it doesn't work on xdandroid, neither trough the proxy nor without.
Second, Movistar 3G, as VodafoneNL, also worked with tux's android.
I still think that It's something not related to the zimage, but the android itself.
Héééééééééééééééééééééééy, I can now connect to 3G with the new Mcdull build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622776

Wonderful! Let's give it a try
We are all waiting for our country/operator specific update now that the Android 2.1 update has been officialy released for Nordic countries.
The aim of this thread is to exchange experiences and share news
for those of us who got the X10a hardware version
(850/1900MHz bands for some Australia, North America and Latin America operators)
If somebody with an X10a has already updated, please share if you got it straight from SEUS/PC Companion or by changing to a Nordic 1.6 first, and then updated to Nordic Android 2.1
A "Yes I just got 2.1" is now what we expect:
Please share as much info as possible
(method used to update, tested radio 3G connectivity, locale, operator/carrier, language, etc)
Let the fun begin
[EDIT NOV 04, 2010]
NAM 3G bands: CONFIRMED WORKING
Overwhelming feedback confirms both currently released Android 2.1 firmwares (Nordic and Global) DO WORK for the X10a.
jerpelea suggests Sony Ericcson may have unified the bands because the X10i firmware works on the X10a, 3G and all.
ENGLISH, SPANISH, PORTUGUES languages: CONFIRMED PRESENT
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824935
Released firmwares tested to date by xda-devs users:
- Nordic region Android 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Global international Andoird 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Notice: some users (espcially Rogers Canada) are reporting problems with 3G speeds (check next pages of this thread)
Where to obtain instructions and the Android 2.1 update firmware:
- 2.1 firmware "Nordic" and flasher by Bin4ry: (this is the one I used, a nice tutorial by user gfgodoy at post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
- 2.1 firmware "Global" and flasher by jerpelea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
- 2.1 firmware "Gobal" and flasher by MarylandCookie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
TIPS:
- Charge your phone, at least 50% prior to updating the firmware
- Extract the flashing tool into a folder in your root directory ("C:\")
- Make sure you put the firmware files into it ("C:\X10Flash-2.1\firmware")
- Make sure you have "SEUS" or "PC Companion" installed and you have connected your phone at least once (for it to install the USB drivers)
- For problems ("unable to open channel", "Exception in *** java", etc) plase check this nice thread by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115
THE UPGRADE IS REVERSIBLE:
- If you test Android 2.1 and for some reason want to go back to Android 1.6 please check this thread by SaintyUK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824782
.
nobody yet ??
2.1 for x10a can be found in Dev thread. I'd do it but at work blah. Another 9 hours till home
Well, I will wait until TELCEL or Sony Ericsson México says something about the date of the release of the 2.1 update, if they don't say nothing or the date is about a month or later, I will use other methods...
could you please link ??
I can't seem to find a successful attempt
and all of our efforts are fragmentated into many threads
I just installed the X10i 2.1 on my x10a and rooted. It works fine except it occasionally loses 3g connectivity and steps down to the 'H' (I don't know what H means). But even in 'H' data works.
The big difference I noticed was the different apps loaded faster. But overall the system is still sluggish and bringing up the app menu is choppier than before. All the Sony stuff like Dialer, Mediscape, timescape are still choppy.
So I guess you will expect this on the x10a roms too.

Yep it worked flawlessly. The Market that shows up for me is the Canadian one and it even gave me the option to run using English (Canada). So I guess that stuff does not depend on the rom.
You just have to make sure everything you need to flash is installed and running. Most people have problems with java but there is a link in there that tells you how to fix it.
Then I used this to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788
Information for default.prop & build.prop
I remember seeing information about changing the Build descriptors on both of theses files - Where you cahnge the values:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
Mine is running Generic LAM - 1227-4607
What is the build.prop number for Generic North America - Generic NAM???
Thanks for sharing experiences
Will go for it myself and update the front post when double-checked
I'm interested in how it works as well. I own an X10a, but I live in Europe, so I'm wondering if it would matter anyway. The smartest move would probably be to wait, but if it's going to be a matter of weeks instead of days, I may jump on the X10i update methods.
I have debranded X10a and rooted 1.6. I read your tutorial on forum. Just a question is this for X10a? Would my phone change to X10a or x10i? Is there any chance to brick the phone? Does it removes all the apps? And my root? Please let me know thanks

It works great for my X10a from Brazil.
Thanks everyone that made this possible.
Can't wait to give it a shot. Off work in 4 and a half hours and it could come soon enough!! LOL
Does this firmware includes SPANISH language????
Just want to mention that I too have updated my X10a using the methods described above (just follow the directions in post #3 of the 2.1 flashing thread).
I have tested, and root worked (have already restored many of my apps via Titanium and am posting this on my laptop tethered via Barnacle). Market works too, and appears to be displaying the Canadian market for me properly.
Thanks for the info everyone.

Well, I haven't seen any difference yet.
I didnt check the older versions' smart screen lock options.
In this FW, there is one which unlocks it with you voice. I am not sure if the previous versions were having that option.

Read somewhere you should only flash this for the carrier i.e Telkom DE. Noob question, is this true?
Well, as it has some Telekom branding I would not flash it to my unbranded phone...
(tapatalked from mobile)
battery seems better on this, only went down 2% in 8 hours overnight.

This does not mean you cannot use it, just it can be different in appearance from standard unbranded roms - for example can have different boot logo (matching specific operator - here Telekom DE), different colours, theme, wallpaper (usually matching operator's logo etc) or have different / additional applications as per operator's choosing (or actually less of the applications).
I cannot say what is different here as I haven't installed it. Whether you choose to stick to unbranded roms (like louis0815) or don't bother with such differences is up to you. Also sometimes specific modules of ROMs (mostly radio) are tweaked for specific region and work better or worse depenting on your operators infrastructure (at least I remember some time ago it was true for some HTC roms)
billbond4 good news on the battery, thanks for the input! Please keep us updated.
when will an unbranded ftf be released?

Hey guys!
Can somebody please comment on the branding?! Is it complete T-Mobile or only boot logo or no branding at all!?
And, even more important, can you produce a flashable ZIP with root and recovery!? I will try it myself but maybe somebody is more into this kinda stuff...

Daniel

i think we should hold our horses and wait 3 or 4 days for an unbranded ftf which has less crapy junk...
At boot up you get T-Mo branding and there is a few apps, most I could uninstall, but some I could only disable.
Is it possible to root it!?
If so there should be no problem to uninstall any app.
In xperifirm they have updated more tmobile firmwares e.g. poland and hungary and there is another carrier with .283 out there now. "Cosmote" from greece.
Ok, I am also German user and got an available update to .283.
But I have an unbranded FW 14.5.A.0.242 genericDE, so no T-Mobile branding^^
I brought only the kernel is the here included
