about phone scree please, if updated.
The rest seems same.
Any difference?
Well, I haven't seen any difference yet.
I didnt check the older versions' smart screen lock options.
In this FW, there is one which unlocks it with you voice. I am not sure if the previous versions were having that option.

Looks that we have new modem and kernel, i hope that it will solve the battery drain
Wainting for your feedback

Read somewhere you should only flash this for the carrier i.e Telkom DE. Noob question, is this true?
Well, as it has some Telekom branding I would not flash it to my unbranded phone...
(tapatalked from mobile)
battery seems better on this, only went down 2% in 8 hours overnight.

This does not mean you cannot use it, just it can be different in appearance from standard unbranded roms - for example can have different boot logo (matching specific operator - here Telekom DE), different colours, theme, wallpaper (usually matching operator's logo etc) or have different / additional applications as per operator's choosing (or actually less of the applications).
I cannot say what is different here as I haven't installed it. Whether you choose to stick to unbranded roms (like louis0815) or don't bother with such differences is up to you. Also sometimes specific modules of ROMs (mostly radio) are tweaked for specific region and work better or worse depenting on your operators infrastructure (at least I remember some time ago it was true for some HTC roms)
billbond4 good news on the battery, thanks for the input! Please keep us updated.
when will an unbranded ftf be released?

Well thank you @szturchen_pl does this fw have the call problem 270 had where the other caller cannot clearly hear your voice?
Hey guys!
Can somebody please comment on the branding?! Is it complete T-Mobile or only boot logo or no branding at all!?
And, even more important, can you produce a flashable ZIP with root and recovery!? I will try it myself but maybe somebody is more into this kinda stuff...

Daniel

i think we should hold our horses and wait 3 or 4 days for an unbranded ftf which has less crapy junk...
At boot up you get T-Mo branding and there is a few apps, most I could uninstall, but some I could only disable.
Is it possible to root it!?
If so there should be no problem to uninstall any app.
In xperifirm they have updated more tmobile firmwares e.g. poland and hungary and there is another carrier with .283 out there now. "Cosmote" from greece.
Ok, I am also German user and got an available update to .283.
But I have an unbranded FW 14.5.A.0.242 genericDE, so no T-Mobile branding^^
I brought only the kernel is the here included

We are all waiting for our country/operator specific update now that the Android 2.1 update has been officialy released for Nordic countries.
The aim of this thread is to exchange experiences and share news
for those of us who got the X10a hardware version
(850/1900MHz bands for some Australia, North America and Latin America operators)
If somebody with an X10a has already updated, please share if you got it straight from SEUS/PC Companion or by changing to a Nordic 1.6 first, and then updated to Nordic Android 2.1
A "Yes I just got 2.1" is now what we expect:
Please share as much info as possible
(method used to update, tested radio 3G connectivity, locale, operator/carrier, language, etc)
Let the fun begin
[EDIT NOV 04, 2010]
NAM 3G bands: CONFIRMED WORKING
Overwhelming feedback confirms both currently released Android 2.1 firmwares (Nordic and Global) DO WORK for the X10a.
jerpelea suggests Sony Ericcson may have unified the bands because the X10i firmware works on the X10a, 3G and all.
ENGLISH, SPANISH, PORTUGUES languages: CONFIRMED PRESENT
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824935
Released firmwares tested to date by xda-devs users:
- Nordic region Android 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Global international Andoird 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Notice: some users (espcially Rogers Canada) are reporting problems with 3G speeds (check next pages of this thread)
Where to obtain instructions and the Android 2.1 update firmware:
- 2.1 firmware "Nordic" and flasher by Bin4ry: (this is the one I used, a nice tutorial by user gfgodoy at post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
- 2.1 firmware "Global" and flasher by jerpelea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
- 2.1 firmware "Gobal" and flasher by MarylandCookie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
TIPS:
- Charge your phone, at least 50% prior to updating the firmware
- Extract the flashing tool into a folder in your root directory ("C:\")
- Make sure you put the firmware files into it ("C:\X10Flash-2.1\firmware")
- Make sure you have "SEUS" or "PC Companion" installed and you have connected your phone at least once (for it to install the USB drivers)
- For problems ("unable to open channel", "Exception in *** java", etc) plase check this nice thread by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115
THE UPGRADE IS REVERSIBLE:
- If you test Android 2.1 and for some reason want to go back to Android 1.6 please check this thread by SaintyUK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824782

nobody yet ??
2.1 for x10a can be found in Dev thread. I'd do it but at work blah. Another 9 hours till home
Well, I will wait until TELCEL or Sony Ericsson México says something about the date of the release of the 2.1 update, if they don't say nothing or the date is about a month or later, I will use other methods...
could you please link ??
I can't seem to find a successful attempt
and all of our efforts are fragmentated into many threads
I just installed the X10i 2.1 on my x10a and rooted. It works fine except it occasionally loses 3g connectivity and steps down to the 'H' (I don't know what H means). But even in 'H' data works.
The big difference I noticed was the different apps loaded faster. But overall the system is still sluggish and bringing up the app menu is choppier than before. All the Sony stuff like Dialer, Mediscape, timescape are still choppy.
So I guess you will expect this on the x10a roms too.

Yep it worked flawlessly. The Market that shows up for me is the Canadian one and it even gave me the option to run using English (Canada). So I guess that stuff does not depend on the rom.
You just have to make sure everything you need to flash is installed and running. Most people have problems with java but there is a link in there that tells you how to fix it.
Then I used this to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788
Information for default.prop & build.prop
I remember seeing information about changing the Build descriptors on both of theses files - Where you cahnge the values:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
Mine is running Generic LAM - 1227-4607
What is the build.prop number for Generic North America - Generic NAM???
Thanks for sharing experiences
Will go for it myself and update the front post when double-checked
I'm interested in how it works as well. I own an X10a, but I live in Europe, so I'm wondering if it would matter anyway. The smartest move would probably be to wait, but if it's going to be a matter of weeks instead of days, I may jump on the X10i update methods.
I have debranded X10a and rooted 1.6. I read your tutorial on forum. Just a question is this for X10a? Would my phone change to X10a or x10i? Is there any chance to brick the phone? Does it removes all the apps? And my root? Please let me know thanks

Does this firmware includes SPANISH language????
Just want to mention that I too have updated my X10a using the methods described above (just follow the directions in post #3 of the 2.1 flashing thread).
I have tested, and root worked (have already restored many of my apps via Titanium and am posting this on my laptop tethered via Barnacle). Market works too, and appears to be displaying the Canadian market for me properly.
Thanks for the info everyone.

Can you please tell me what does it indicate about country in the secret menu?
it is located in SERVICE INFO - MODEL INFO and then model, country and brand. so what does it tell about country?
this is because CUSTOMIZED GEL/LUSTER WHITE NAM_1, what you are talking about is not yet released by sonyericsson.
the only GENERIC FW for x10a released is the BRAZIL GENERIC, which is CUSTOMIZED BR.
Also for your query about how to upload your firmware to this forum, you can get better help from the senior members like arkedk or im_iceman or many others.

Yes, I think so. But, I am assuming SE renamed it to world generic? At least this is what the software info says on my secret service menu. One thing I noticed is that the Wisepilot app comes pre-installed on 2.1 as supposed to downloading from the SE app store in 1.6.
I had LAM generic 1.6 and had wisepilot installed
maybe is LAM cause SE MX release their fw and lam is controlled by mexico xD
can't wait to reflash it with lam yay
I believe that the line:
File system version: WORLD-1-2-5-6_2.0.A.0.504
will be on all 2.1 updates regardless of region as this "WORLD" string only depicts the file system version which is a common thing amongst all 2.1 updates. The "1-2-5-6" string "may" mean the UMTS band it supports.

Yes.
I am more curious with CDA 1233-8200 as it is also for X10a with the country as AMERICA.
I have not been able to find out if it is branded or not. It is definitely not the AT&T branded one as another user has confirmed that their's is different than this one.

I used the LAM when on 1.6 and it was great for me. I am now using the Generic World version on my X10a as I couldn't wait unit the "a" version hit. Have been running it without a hitch.
I believe that mystery CDA is still on 1.6. Hopefully someone has some insight on this code and can shed some light to what it actually is.

Hi all, new here
I'm in Australia with the Samsung Omnia 7.
I bought phone online from someone who won it in an Optus competition (Optus being the carrier here).
The phone is unlocked to any network but for about 3-5 seconds upon the phones startup, there is a branded Optus logo that is displayed.
I want it GONE.
What's the best way to do this? I'm running the original firmware, not the new leaked one. I'm also not game to flash to the leaked newer firmware as Samsung hasn't released it officially and I've heard some Aussies have had some issues after doing it.
What's the safest way I can remove this start-up logo branding? Thanks!
change to a different firmware, vol up+camera+power button > download mode> samfirmwares.com firmware(unbranded)! Thats currently the only possibility.
What about by editing a registry entry or something?
I'm not prepared to "upgrade" to that firmware until Samsung releases it (if they do).
They probably haven't for a reason.
try chevron unlocker, install registry explorer search and share!
Is chevron unlocker going to change something about my device I can't reverse? I want full control of any testing I do.
sorry for late reply, the firmware file consists of lot parts (Phone, csc, eboot, pda), modifying a specific file in the archive may remove the startup logo.Just search wiki for answers about the significance of each part.Or better still, wait for the update release by MS see if it changes anything! Chevron won't help!
Most users have upgraded to the firmware available at samfirmware.com I too running omnia 7 t-mobile uk version unbranded by downloading I8700XENJK1. Have had no issues so far!
Any updates on this with new unlocking methods etc..?
I'd really like that start up pic gone if I can!

No, like has already been said, the only way to get rid of this is to re-flash the device. You should be able to only flash parts of it though which would leave the OS (and all apps, settings etc) intact. I'm guessing it's the bootloader image that includes the logo you're seeing, so would start there.

For now it is. Even with WinMo 6.5 we had to flash the 2nd start up screen. Then we had full access to the core of OS. Right now we dont. So only way to get rid of it is to flash a brand free rom issue by samsung and not a carrier
Any updates on this now?
Anyone know a registry key that is associated with the start up logo?

There IS NO registry key for this. The boot logo is displayed long before the OS has even started booting.
I've also installed the firmware from samfirmware.com and I've had no issues at all. I've managed to update to Pre-NODO and NODO without any pain (apart from having to use the Hungarian Hack to get NODO early).
I've seen no downsides from my perspective.
The only risk I can see is that no carriers will have tested WP7 against this firmware until it's officially released by Samsung.
if you have a 4.10.1.9 bootloader, there's no possibility to change your rom....forget it.
right now, this bootloader fail to upgrade... no download mode ability at omnia 7

Hello everyone, Im new to the site. I too purchased, what I thought to be unbranded, a mobile over the internet that was branded with T-Mobile Germany. Im in Australia. I can use my Optus SIM Card. But what was worrying me is what affects a branded phone (especially from another country) would have on me and my usage, especially with the new Mango update.
Now unless someone can tell me that it really doesnt make any difference to how the phone will work, I want it unbranded for safety sake. That being said, my quote above, This firmware, obviously it sounds custom and not official. If I install this firmware, any Windows Update up until this point (Not Mango), will it still install via zune? and will it take on the Mango update when thats out?
Thanks guys

I believe samfirmware just releases leaked firmware. They are therefore all "official" in a sense and the unbranded ones should just be firmware for the unbranded devices.
If you're using a branded phone, the official updates will roll out when the original carrier certifies it. Apart from that and the boot branding, there shouldn't be many differences.

Hello there guys!
Let's start a list of the bloatware per region! Bloatware = apps not by SE that appear on your phone after the update to 4.0.A.2.368 and cannot be removed.
Ordering this by customization, PM me or answer in the topic and I'll add them to the first post asap.
Global Generic is NOT a customization. When you're flashing the so-called global generic firmware with flashtool it's usually just a random Generic firmware. Global firmware does not exist. If you updated over Wotanserver you should know what your customization is. Otherwise try Googling your CDA (*#*#SERVICE#*#* -> Info -> Software -> Customization Version without the _RXD. I know it will usually say Generic World on that screen, but that doesn't matter. It says that on every Generic firmware.)

The Global Generic files you see here on XDA from time to time are indeed always region specific. The only reliable way to find out your region is by checking the bookmarks your browser has by default.

No "get games" or "friends music" and similar junk? How does the Telia branding look?

Wondering about that too. Does the Telia branded have a "Get Games", "Get Extensions" and "Get Apps" thing by SE?
(and Fun&Downloads in active services)

every firmware have those sony apps, but some firmware may not include touchnote, neoreader and all that other crap
Ok then, Generic Trade Germany here. I have only ...
- Lets Golf!
- Touchnote
... as non-removable non-Sony apps. There is NO Neo Reader on the device. Four apps can be removed (UEFA, Experia Hotshots and two more - don't remeber the names right now). I have 213MB free RAM after boot.
I have to note that this is a clean install of the ROM via Wotanserver (my bootloader ist still locked) and not an update of the old version 3.
As much as I don't like Facebook to be on the device, the ROM is pretty non-bloaty as some of the Sony apps are quite useful.
That makes Generic Trade Germany the least bloated version out there!
It looks like it indeed. Strangely enough the update via PC Companion gets you Neo Reader and the junk. The same ROM clean via WotanServer doesn't. You start at zero though because WotanServer clears the device completely. I think that's good though because it avoids potential troubles with leftovers from older versions.
It's the second ROM on the list -> http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-neo-mt15/4-0-a-2-368/language-download
Here are some quick and dirty shots of the 'clean' drawer ...

... with all removable apps removed and none installed yet.
What's the video application? Is it from SE?
That is Qriocity, video streaming from Sony -> http://www.qriocity.com/us/en/video.html

The Global Generic files you see here on XDA from time to time are indeed always region specific. The only reliable way to find out your region is by checking the bookmarks your browser has by default.

What the hell? I know SE not sell kits with Generic World SI, but people do get them from SEUS, so I don't get it, how come it exists ? SE made it o note?
UK support told me that there no suck region as Global Generic and it's not SE ROM, but a custom ROM. try to explain ? because ARC and NEO got Global ROM,
also a X10 with 2.1 has Global..maybe it's a ROM for dev's...

It's never a global ROM. Never. I can check by flashing them and then looking up the region in EMMA and when a global ROM is placed online it is usually just German, UK, Scan or HK generic. There is no real difference though. But the "Global Generic" firmware does not exist on the servers of SE.

Btw, when you delete junk you also have to delete the apps under system/etc/product/applications. Or these will reinstall after a restart... uefa.com and Neoreader did that in my case.
Depends how you define 'restart'. A normal reboot will do nothing, they will still be gone. They will come back after a factory reset though - and can be uninstalled again. But how often do you do that?

Not in my case. Whenever it shuts down due to instability or battery removed it reinstalls those apps. A normal restart will not trigger it indeed. Trust me, I could not find this reinstall problem for a few months until a saw the 2 apk files by accident and now no reinstalls anymore. It's quite annoying when your phone lags due to installing of bloatware.

Do you have branded device (o2,orange,tmobile or something)
IMO Sony update shows only generic firmware update...
Do you have any issues with this ROM ?

Where did you buy your phone? What's the SI number? This can be found on the box of the phone and perhaps also on your receipt.

This means that you had Generic UK firmware, which still hasn't received any updates other than 10.1.A.1.434.
