How to edit the GPS conf file .
or just use faster fix from the market .
jje
Why would one want to edit the file ? FasterFix ? Why ? Mine fixes pretty fast .. and the tool needs root (at least it says so). Also what does it do ?
Dr.Sid said:

My hacked gps.conf
GPS.conf
NTP_SERVER=uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
Note NTP server is UK not the stock USA server . NTP = network time protocol server i just change to a more local server
? FasterFix ? Why ?
Does as above to enable faster fix for some
Mine fixes pretty fast .. dont need it then
and the tool needs root all tools that write or change at that level require root or the work to be done before rom is flashed .

Hello:
i tried to change my Bootanimation but with no Luck.
1. i tried to make a "theme" via Online Kitchen; got a file (about 6mb) flashed it via Recovery but Botscreen stayed at white "HTC-Briliant"
2. i tried to manualy delete the bootaniamtion.zip at /data/app/local with androidmate (free)--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10041079&highlight=bootanimation#post10041079
3. i tried to make my own update.zip ( http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-create-android-update-zip-package/)
script:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:data\app\local data\app\local:
show_progress 0.1 10
4. tried to change the bootimage.zip in NEO's Reflext.Rom by deleting all unneccesary stuf and changing the bootanimation-zip
--> got stuck after Recovery so i had to reflash the whole ROM..
--------------------------------------------
why i'm not able to change this bootanimation ?
can someone provide me a funktional Update-zip for this ROM
(or a HowTo for doing it myself?)
i would like to test these Bootimages:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648555
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905538 (android particle2)
PLEASE Help
EDIT: i also tried via
Terminal Emulator
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB
- Copy the downloaded file to your sdcard
- Disconnect phone from computer
- Open Terminal Emulator on your phone and enter the code below (press enter after every line)
su
cp /sdcard/480x800_AndroidGlow1.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
reboot

EDIT:
Try putting it into /system/customize/resource
thats where the bootanimation (and the boot sound..) was located on my desire rom.
tried this but:
1: i found no "resource" folder under /system/customize..
2. after creating this folder and copying bootanimation.zip nothing happens
it seems like NEO put it on a special place in his ROM so i cant't figure out..
Test this route: /system/etc/customer/bootanimation.zip ;-)
System/sd/app/local remplace the bootanimation.zip and reboot.
It worked !!
Thanks ASIER
the System/sd/app/local .. did the trick
why does neo uses this folder-structure.. weird ..
(and also thx to raa_ for his help)
does it make sense if i say, i don't have a /system/sd/app/local folder??? the sd part is nowhere to be found
any idea?
edit. found it on my Desire it was under /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
cheers
i think it depends on the ROM you are using!
i use the ReflextSense 1.7 from NEophyte.360
that uses the "unusual" path as postet before.
"normal" Sense ore SenseHD Roms are using different locations as you found out..
it is sad that there's not a standard-path for all roms !

are you sure youre on the system-"partition" ?
i first set the System to Read/Write in SPareparts and afterwards used ESData explorer (in the program you have to enable ROOT funktions..)
--> menu/settingsroot options --> mount filesystem
------
click on the button on the very left (sd-icon) and it should change into a "house"
the path should be a "/"
afterwards choose SYSTEM/SD/APP/Local
in this folder there should be bootanimation.zip, downanimation.zip, shutdown.zip and "placeholder"
hope it helps
I cant find my bootanimation.zip anywhere,Im using insertcoin 1.8f(trying to update to 1.8h with no luck )
this Thread describes Changing BOOTANIMATION in ReflextSense (1.7)
i think insertCoin uses an different Folder for Bootanimation.zip than this rom.
you could try one of these options:
get shure you hav read/write acces to your Root.. (as i described in de Posting before..)
search the "insert coin" thread for Bootanimation.zip
ask in the Thread about the neccesary "Path"
try to download a "change bootanimation" zip from online kitchen or from the forum..
apply the zip via Recovery and if it works !! ... open the zip and analyse the script file (which Path it uses..)
i hope it helps..

I had the right path but was using a software that can't see the folder system/sd/app. I managed to replace the bootanimation.zip with SUFBS. Thank you for your help though.

This tweak adds responsiveness on the phone. What it does is replace app_process and system_server binaries by the ones found in android 2.3.3_r1 or 3.1 (v0.2)
Note that those binaries have been compiled by me from google official source.
This has been qualified by supercurio as a taste of the Nexus S 2.3.3 smoothness.
It will not make your battery last longer or the opposite. Neither will it improve quadrant benchmarks.

As described above, this tweak will adds responsiveness on the phone, so our device will runs smoother than usual. Also, I'm just found that this tweak will reduce lockscreen-lag yeah I can feel the difference.
This tweak is tested by me on KPN + CF-Root but I'm sure it working on other ROM/firmware, as well as Froyo.
Do this as your own risk!
Always make backup before proceed!
To install, just download one of the file at the link below then flash with CWM (don't forget to mount /system).
Pick one, no need to use them all...
Download v0.1: Download now - currently I'm using this one
--v0.2 REMOVED. It's troublesome.
Manual install & backup:
With any root file manager, goto /system/bin and mount as R/W, backup the following files to your sdcard: app_process, system_server
Copy FuguTweak files (app_process and system_server) to /system/bin, replace the current one.
Set permissions to rwxr-xr-x (755) then change owner to:
Owner = 0 - root | Group = 2000 -shell
Reboot.
Changelog in the original thread.
0.1 = all files taken from 2.3.3 AOSP
0.2 = app_process only, taken from 3.0 AOSP
If your Ace went wrong:
Revert back any changes you've made with this flashable-zip:
Backup KPN
PS: ROM makers, would you give me a proper credit? because I've tested this awesome tweak on SGA

Right! It's Fla.sh X2 "secret" tweak which I've mentioned before
Download v0.1: = CWM recovery
Download v0.2: = root explorer
is above correct fla.sh?
and we can choose any above or do we have to do both (for gingerbread stock)?
thanks!

In linux systems permissions and ownership are assigned to owner, group and others .To get a particular thing to work you have to set right permissions and ownership. For ownership there is chown command and permissions chmod command.
Coming back to the topic you can change ownership by root explorer .Long press the required file and from the popup menu choose the last option-Change Owner
and change Owner = 0 - root | Group = 2000 -shell
.
Nice..

As noob I needed long time to reach my main rooting objectives which was to run Cifs in my SG3 in order to
(i) access network shares AND
(ii) create symbolic links to these network shares located on my Synology NAS
This is now working and i wanna share my experiences with people who needs step-by-step guide
My objective was to be able to use a music player app (i.e. PowerAMP), while the music are located in my NAS (not in the phone or any external card)
I first began applying the hints of viulian in this thread . It did not work because my firmware (see below) is not supported.
My last successful try included the following steps:
- Re-flash stock ROM/Kernel
- Install CF-Root (includes SuperSU, ClockWorkMod Recovery, CWM Manager)
- Download/Install SuperSU Pro
- Check root in ES file Explorer (seemed to be OK)
- Create BackUp using CWM (into extSdCard)
- Run TriangleAway (to reset flash counter)
- Restore BackUp (to reset device status to normal)
- Install app Mobile ODIN Pro
- Download & flash SiyahKernel (incl. adbd insecure & Cifs Module) using Mobile ODIN Pro. Now I can see cifs.ko under /lib/modules/
- Install CifsManager
- Install BusyBox using app BusyBox Pro (i don't know if this step was really necessary for my purpose ?)
Furthermore i create a new share entry in CifsManager with these details
- Share path = 192.168.178.20/music
- Mount Point = /mnt/extSdCard/music/cifs
- User name = xxxxxx
- Password = yyyyyy
Hint: the default folder in CifsManager setting for the cifs.ko location is /system/lib/modules/ . You must change this to /lib/modules/. This is the folder used by Siyah kernel installation
Now i could mount the shares via CifsManager. Then i got a green point above right. A click on the mount entry will open folder /mnt/cifs/music in ES file explorer. From now on even the SG3 standard file explorer will show you the NAS music files under the folder /mnt/extSdCard/music/cifs.
Some info about my SG3
- Baseband Version: I9300XXLF5
- Bild Number: IMM76D.I9300XXALF06
- Kernel Version: 3.0.36.Siyah-s3-v1.3.8a
Good luck trying !!!!

Does this still work for you? I just got a new tablet, and can't get Poweramp to see anything but the onboard flash. Arg, wish they'd left the library requester alone!

Controlling Cyanogenmod13 (aka LineageOS 13) via TeamViewer
Hi. I've been searching fro a way to control a Cyanogenmod13 device and I finally found it!
My device is SM-N900 Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (ha_3g international).
1. Go to Google play market and install application: QuickSupport (there are QS letters written in the top left corner of the icon).
2. Run the app. After TeamViewer downloads the QS Addon APK, retrieve it from Internal Storage/Android/data/com.teamviewer.host.market/files/Download/TeamViewerQSAddon.apk
Use a file explorer that has root permissions and the ability to change files and folders permissions (I use ES)
3. Create a folder in /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/ named TeamViewerQSAddon with rwx r-x r-x (I used /system/app/).
3.1 To change permissions in ES - long tap --> 3 dots in the lower right corner MORE --> and then Properties (or somth like that Idk 'cause I use russian version) then in the lower part of the Properties window there will be the line: Permissions. Tap Change and mark as follows: Owner: 1,2,3; Group: 1,3; Others: 1,3.
4. Put the APK in that folder and change its permissions to rw- r-- r--
4.1 To change Permission again: long tap, More, Permissions. Tap change permission and mark as follows: Owner: 1,2; Group: 1; Others: 1.
5. Reboot and it must work! Tested on my SM-N900 ha_3g running LineageOS 13.0-20170204-UNOFFICIAL-ha_3g. I guess that Official will do just the same. Good luck pals!
