This tweak adds responsiveness on the phone. What it does is replace app_process and system_server binaries by the ones found in android 2.3.3_r1 or 3.1 (v0.2)
Note that those binaries have been compiled by me from google official source.
This has been qualified by supercurio as a taste of the Nexus S 2.3.3 smoothness.
It will not make your battery last longer or the opposite. Neither will it improve quadrant benchmarks.

As described above, this tweak will adds responsiveness on the phone, so our device will runs smoother than usual. Also, I'm just found that this tweak will reduce lockscreen-lag yeah I can feel the difference.
This tweak is tested by me on KPN + CF-Root but I'm sure it working on other ROM/firmware, as well as Froyo.
Do this as your own risk!
Always make backup before proceed!
To install, just download one of the file at the link below then flash with CWM (don't forget to mount /system).
Pick one, no need to use them all...
Download v0.1: Download now - currently I'm using this one
--v0.2 REMOVED. It's troublesome.
Manual install & backup:
With any root file manager, goto /system/bin and mount as R/W, backup the following files to your sdcard: app_process, system_server
Copy FuguTweak files (app_process and system_server) to /system/bin, replace the current one.
Set permissions to rwxr-xr-x (755) then change owner to:
Owner = 0 - root | Group = 2000 -shell
Reboot.
Changelog in the original thread.
0.1 = all files taken from 2.3.3 AOSP
0.2 = app_process only, taken from 3.0 AOSP
If your Ace went wrong:
Revert back any changes you've made with this flashable-zip:
Backup KPN
PS: ROM makers, would you give me a proper credit? because I've tested this awesome tweak on SGA

Right! It's Fla.sh X2 "secret" tweak which I've mentioned before
Download v0.1: = CWM recovery
Download v0.2: = root explorer
is above correct fla.sh?
and we can choose any above or do we have to do both (for gingerbread stock)?
thanks!

In linux systems permissions and ownership are assigned to owner, group and others .To get a particular thing to work you have to set right permissions and ownership. For ownership there is chown command and permissions chmod command.
Coming back to the topic you can change ownership by root explorer .Long press the required file and from the popup menu choose the last option-Change Owner
and change Owner = 0 - root | Group = 2000 -shell
.

Will it work on cm7 nightlies kevin?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yeah
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yes it works with just about every ROM, but, in my view, I can't see any benefit. (I dont play Angry Birds, and, the rest of the games and LWP's don't show any benefit).
How do you do this?
Just flash it like a rom?
Well, that's what I initially did. Flash the ZIP in Post #49 in that thread. But, on reading that complete thread, I guess you have to edit the build.prop file in /system (Using Root Explorer / ADB Push Pull).
However, this is where I cant get it to work. WHenever I add the 2 lines in Root Explorer and Save Changes, the phone reboots. If I use ADB, even after pushing, when I check the same file using build.prop, no changes are visible, (The opengles.version automatically reverts back to 65536 and the line which enabled hardware acceleration of the UI is gone) and, ASI only shows OpenGL 1.0 due to this
Well, I have no idea what I am doing wrong, will try it out again and see..
I'm a newb with this.
Could someone possibly make a bit more explained guide?
Very basic guide:
* Get Root Explorer or any other file manager that can show the root folders
* Open Root Explorer, change permissions on top to R/W (Be very careful after that. Dont delete anything!)
* Locate the file build.prop under /system
* Long Press the file, Select Edit with Text Editor
* Updated: (ADB Commands Copy - Pasted from another post by kevin2516. Thanks mate )
*Make sure ADB is installed on your system and it is working. There are many guides available to install ADB, so I wont be going into that.
*Start Command Prompt (cmd), Browse to your "Tools" folder into your SDK
*Use the ADB Pull Command adb pull /system/build.prop
*This will now be saved to your tools folder. Edit is using Wordpad / Notepad++ (Not Notepad) as follows:
*Locate a line which starts with dalvik. (The first one, there are 3 of them)
Add the following 2 lines before that:
debug.sf.hw=1
ro.opengles.version=65537
* Save it.
* Push it back to System using the ADB Push Command: adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
* Reboot ADB using the adb reboot command
* Then, grab the Flashable Zip in that thread from Post #48
* Flash it as normal
Done.
Check whether it is implemented or not by going to Android System Info > System Tab > OpenGL. Here, there are 2 OpenGL versions. The first line should say 1.1, and the second should say OpenGL 1.0 ES.
With S-On you cannot change the systemfile directly I think. Thats the reason why your system not keep the change. I have write by myself a little install zip and flash it with nandroid and it works. the zip only works with wildpuzzlerom v0.8 and you can find in the thread for wpr0.8.

Well, I took your flashable ZIP, removed the build.prop it contained, and replaced it with the build.prop of CM7 Nightly 2. Then, I tried flashing it, still no change.
Now, I have no idea whether I am 'allowed' to change flashable ZIP's like that or not, but, from what it is looking like, I am still unable to get this working on CM7NB2. I'll probably try making a flashable ZIP from scratch later as I get time.

If it's simple enough, it would be nice if you could tell how to do a flashable zip (or yourself make a one suitable for CM6/7 ). I just want to test these libraries on CM7, any help is appreciated

Which is exactly what I said in the CM7 thread. No one here has till date, found verifiable gains, with using OpenGL on the Wildfire. Everyone reports the same thing, that there is no or absolutely negligible (Which I think is just a mind thing) change in gaming / intensive applications performance.
If you are looking for ROM's wit inbuilt OpenGLES Support, WildPuzzle has a flashable ZIP, and DS and DK Roms provides it inbuilt in its latest version. For the others, the manual method has to be followed.
Hey Guys M new to this forum (Not in flashing) so can u guys please Suggest me an awesome Rom

No, Amend. Use Clockworkmod from within ROM Manager for getting CWM 2.5 (This is over and above your current 3.x), else use Fastboot to remove your current 3.x and install 2.5 in its place.

Thanx For Replying
In CM7, Open ROM Manager (Or, if you are not in CM7, then download the app called ROM MAnager from the Market)
- Then Select Install Clockworkmod Recovery. This will install v2.5 on the SDCard
- Select Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager
- This will take you to Clockworkmod 2.5, then you can install this ROM.
By following this, you get to keep both recoveries, 2.5 (Select Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager App) and 3.x (Select Reboot into Recovery from the Phone-Switch-Off Menu)

+1 for jokerdroid, after using CM7 for 1 month. I cant live without sense dialer and contact manager, and jokerdroid is really fast and stable (I got 3.3mflops without JIT).
+1 JokerDroid 4.2 i have been using cm7 stable and nightlys for the last 2-3 months they are fast but had to many little bugs that pissed me off lol , never really used sense as had the phone for a couple of hours and rooted it and flashed cm7,JokerDroid 4.2= fast and very stable so far so for me this is the best rom i have used to date
that`s good !
yep ! one of the best roms that i`ve ever tried ! jokerdroid 4.2 ! so far so good since a week ago !
I tested CM7, but I missed some features from Sense. So I decide to use JokersDroid, but it hasn't got "insecure boot" (no rw mount). After everything I decided to use MoDaCo (it has busybox, so usefull). I replaced kernel to nfinity MC4 from johnseen99 (so I can OC buzz), removed some annoying apps, add JAVA and Livewallpapers from DK Rom, unlocked GoogleMaps and switched to GoLauncher EX.
I'm happy now

There is no zip
1. I flashed MoDaCo from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867937
2. Via recovery switched kernel to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=591094&d=1304950233
3. JAVA - unpack DK ROM - from /system/app copy Jbed.apk and libjbedvm.so from /system/lib -> via adb push them to similar folders. In /system/app are two files with "live" in name - copy them too (livewallpapers doesn't work in Sense)
4. Wifi indicator and Wavesecure removed via Titanium backup
5. Maps: http://mobileplanet-waryam.blogspot.com/2011/07/google-maps-v562-mod-with-world.html
6. Go Launcher - via Market
If some day I'd learn how to prepare full custom ROM - I''ll do it

Ok, there is two other ways to make it: using rootexplorer to remount /system partition with R/W, or adb shell to remount it manually (adb shell, su, and mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system)
As I have rootexplorer, even when I have to adb push something, I just open /system in rootexplorer and press "mount r/w" button.
Ed.:
I cant remember the correct number of mtdblock. You can check it with df command on shell, and it will give you all mounted partitions

Best ROM
Not sure which is the best ROM, it's relative. So far, for stock ROM lovers you can use Blackhawk ROM by ketut.kumajaya
Best Kernel
CF-Root for S5830. I have no comments. An amazing kernel.
Best RAM Tweak (for stock ROMs without CF-Root only)
Juwe's RAM optimization script. It's working fine on Ace, but the boot time will take longer than usual.
Best Animation Tweak (will smoothen animations on stock XXKPH ROM and activate CRT animation on coderom)
Not sure who share this tutorial, but you will get smooth animations after you have applied this tweak. Using Root Explorer, mount /system/ to RW, edit build.prop, find debug.hw, add a hash "#" before it. Save and reboot. Original post here.
For the best result: make sure you have activate a2sd and convert filesystem to ext4 using ext4 Manager (available through CF-Root) and do NOT apply Conservative Gov (when applied, it will save battery life but will slow down performance)
Okay, that's all.
Please report to me if you get something wrong so I can revise this thread.
I was gonna install coderom for the reboot button feature (on phone options), but the link was down.
Please add this: enabling crt on gingerbread rom by adding a hash (#) to debug.hw in build.prop smoothen everything a lot, especially popups.
XDA ♥
- XXKPH
- Easy Deodex + Root (XDA)
- Zipalign on boot setting from A2SD GUI
- CF -Root updated to b78
- update to CWM 4.0.0.9
- Internal memory converted to ext 4 (by ext4 manager)
- set tweaks => default (no checked list)
thats great combine! i've used this...
very smoothly guys...
thanks, just flash up the RAM optimizer with CWM~

Hi fla.sh,
I don't think anyone will go wrong when they have great combo like this. I have all of them in my SGA. (Of course with CRT as mentioned by consegregate)
Now my ace runs very smoothly.
Hey, if I apply the ram optimization... how do I get to the original configuration? A flash of the kph rom (the one i have) would be enough?
I'd say just deleting the script file should be enough.
And lol that's exactly what I have on my Ace. Plus the CRT animation.

Hi,
I have this question for you... Do I need to install everything in the post CF-Root for S5830 like CF root manager, Tweak, EXT4 Manager etc., or just the below mentioned part is enough?
I just flashed this part to my SG Ace.
Instructions (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b78.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN v4.38
- Click the OPS button, and select Cooper_v1.0.ops
- Click the PDA button, and select CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03-CF-Root-v3.7-b78.tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
I tried Quardant after installing this Kernel which gave me 1043 (sdcard class 2) which is as equal to what I got before without this kernel. What is your thought?
Quadrant won't show any difference until you convert your system to ext with the exr4 manager.

Hello ACE user's I proudly present you the best of the best script ever made, created by zeppelinrox.

1. Run busybox installer and install busybox v1.18.2 (this will downgrade our current busybox v1.18.4) we need this because v1.18.3 above will cause an error which is not. (see attached image)
2. Run and configure script manager press the MENU button and go to MORE and then in ADVANCED OPTIONS and now in CONFIG and tick "browse as root" and leave other fields un-touch and exit. (see attached image)
3. Download V6 supercharger update8 script in original thread above and put in root of your sd card. (see attached image)
4. Run script manager by default it views the root of your sdcard find your downloaded V6 supercharger script and click/touch to it another window will appear tick "run as root" then run the script. (see attached image)
5. You will see the script running first chose a scrolling speed from 1-3 by touching the screen for the keyboard to pop-up (i prefer 3 for slow so you can follow the progress) then press enter in your keyboard.
6. Now you will see an option from 1-17 it has different value each option, select option 6 (balance 3) its the best for me, you can try other options of course, now press enter after typing # 6, wait to finish the scipt from running.
7. Now type option 16 to reboot the phone, the script will autorun, thats it enjoy and fell the greatness of your phone.
To check that the script is running and working please do step 4 and 5 and see attached image encircled in red if you have the same value then your good.
Optional: loopy smoothness. Very nice script and works very will with V6.
wow, supercharger..
surely will try it
Thanks
but there's is something written there
If you want to share this, just link to this thread.
If you want to make a thread in other forums telling people about it, that's great.
But I would prefer that you do not post a copy of the V6 SuperCharger installation script in those forums.
If you already have a thread with a copy attached, I won't bother you about it. But please don't attach further updates.

You can delete his tweak using root explorer, go to system/etc/init.d, mount r/w first.

Did you follow the instruction? did you install the busybox 1.18.2?
How about CF-Root? Is this compatible with CF-Root? CF-Root has busybox preinstalled...
For example, Black Hawk has busybox v.1.17.1, there is no need to instal another version of busybox.
All works, thanks.

yes, I installed busybox 1.18.2, but I error. KPN I + CF-Root v80 stocks, that is the problem?
impressions:
1. increased rate of transitions from the menu.
2. pause when awake is almost negligible.
3... in progress)
EDIT: Nevermind... nice share!
From Chainfire's note:
It is possible to install a custom busybox over CF-Root v3.0 and newer. However, this is not without risk. CF-Root makes heavy use of scripting, and many CF-Root scripts rely on the internal busybox version. If you do install a seperate busybox version (always use "stericson" installer!), install it to /system/xbin. Installing it to /system/bin will mess things up for sure. Even if you do that part right, it may still break CF-Root, so make sure to make a backup before trying.

Higher version or even same version but compiled by different person (so could be have different applet compiled in) not always good for CF-Root. For an example, busybox without sh applet will break CF-Root including some user space applications.
I hit clear memory in task manager and started laughing when it showed 84 mb used, hahaha. Generally good in multitasking.

I have 125 only.
installed....good....seen a change in ram usage...less ram being used
During installation the script I saw a message that applies a patch to prevent the closure of the launcher. If I clear the memory in the task manager launcher is unloaded from memory. Or script does not work, or ... script does not work).
This is specially meant for Stock kernel user which don't have kernel iptables function.
Android Firewall
It's a android firewall capable of blocking some app to reach the internet by redirect them to certain address.
It can only activated if only there is Iptables executable & some modules to support it's function.
It's command line configurable but it's way too complicated to us.
You'll Need:
A Sony Ericsson X8 Android phone. (Will work on X10, but not tested.)
Rooted.
Busybox.
CWM Recovery.
Instruction:
Flash this through CWM http://www.mediafire.com/?qcn1jlwilq9l57n
Goto /system/etc & Add those line inside ADD TO HW_CONFIG.SH.txt text file into hw_config.sh.
Reboot
Download Any (I Used DroidWall https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.droidwall.free) to manipulated the iptables to block or allow your app to access the internet.
Say thanks to AnDyX who make this modules. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184907)
I'm just doing the update zip for CWM that's all.
Note: Bootloops or error ARE LIKELY NEVER OCCURED. This is tested on Eclair 2.1.C.0.0 Rom (Offical Sony Ericsson rom for x8) and GDX Rom.

Do NOT flash it with CWM Recovery or xRecovery until CKKnot correct the install script else it will wipe your /system partition and phone won't reboot and you will have to reflash your device.

use some file menger like rootexplorer
Could you please be more specific with point 2?
Should I copy all lines (whole content) from ADD TO HW_CONFIG.SH.txt text file and paste them into hw_config.sh? At the end of this file? In some specific point? Nothing to replace in hw_config.sh?
Well, after first try my X8 seems to be bricked. Sony Ericsson logo after reboot
