battery - Atrix 4G General

any ideas how i can fix this.... my battery will not charge to 100%. i have tried doin g a battery wipe.. i downloaded the battery calibrator app, and tried to wipe it, and see if it charges... and it will not go past 99%... is there something that i must do to get it to 100%... im trying to get a 100% readout, so i can do a flawless battery calibration via the app, but 99% is sort of lacking haha

My battery max charge changes depending on the theme I have installed. Sometimes I can get to 100%, and others only 97%. I find I get the same battery life in any event.
What theme are you using?

just the gingerblur 4.5-----on the slide to unlock screen it says 99% and says its changing,,,, on the battery calibrator app it says 99% and it says 4187mV isnt 100% 4200mV?

Try unplugging it and letting it discharge a few percentage points and then plug it back in to charge. Sometimes it takes strangely long to go from 99-100 for me though.

calibrate battery with clockworkmod???

hi,please move if in wrong place, im running rcmix hd rom and wanted to calibrate my battery.
it says to charge fully while phone is on until green led which i have done,
it then says to power off phone and charge until green led but this is the bit where im stuck.
because i have clockworkmod, when i power off phone and charge, the recovery menu comes up???
i have been charging while supposedly off for last 3 hours, my led is orange but is my phone off??
i shouldnt have thought it would take that long to charge a powered off phone cos i charged it fully while it was on??
so if anyone can explain what i need to do that would be good, or if anyone knows of another way to calibrate my battery without having to charge it while off that would be handy too, thanks
Try the new modded recovery with full shutdown, no more auto clockwork start

Yea sure, here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027835
I'd pick the 3.0.2.4_r1. It flashes like a rom in cwm, then just reboot recovery. But now to access recovery from turn off you have to boot into fastboo first, vol down+power
Thanks for the link ;-)
Ok so I just flash it like a rom and reboot, and that gives me the ability to charge while completely off??
And if I need recovery then I just go into fastboot mode?
Thanks mate

Pretty much, you can try it out easy. Flash, then go to advanced>reboot recovery and make sure it says 3.0.2.4_r1 then press power off and plug in your charger

not that it matters as you are sorted, but phone does charge in CWR but you need to use a second party program i.e QtADB to monitor charging and delete battery stats only when it's at 100% charged.

what about the method whereby u use currentwidget to monitor the charge.
when it is at 0ma then reboot into cwm and wipe battery stats?
does that work too?

The idea of charging it whilst off is to ensure it is at 100% when the battery stats are wiped, with some phones they erroneously report fully charged when they arent, hence charge to 100% turn off charge to 100%, reboot and charge (to replenish charge used in rebooting) then wipe battery stats. People are worried that older CWRs would boot when phone was turned off making it hard to ascertain that 100% charge was attained.
so what is the correct method of resetting the battery stats?

yeah i noticed that too.
100% battery 0ma on current widget.
reboot into cwm, wipe battery stats and reboot.
once booted up it shows 99% but charge again and its at 100%.
have you tried the turning off method?

It will work, but if you want the optimum results you must charge the phone back to 100% after rebooting before you delete the battery stats.

Annoying Battery Glitch

Ever since I've been on EG22, the battery has been very annoying. What I mean by this is if I charge the phone for a few hours (and don't take it off its charger), the second I pull it from its charger, it'll say my battery is at 85% or so. What I don't understand is when I put it on its charger, it is usually at ~90% so how is the battery being drained if it's on its charger?
Another annoying occurrence was when I decided to watch netflix and I left the charger on it even though it was full (Because I didn't want to waste any necessary battery). After the video was over, I pull it from its charger and see it's at 58%!
This has never happened before, so I believe it is EG22. Anyone have this experience?
I'm running Stock Deodexed EG22 w/ root.
Just guessing. I don't think android EVER charges the battery fully...its always around 90% even if it says 100% in android. Maybe eg22 is just shown the actual percentage?

I think some people are seeing this. Did you wipe battery stats in recovery? Also, I have been using "Battery Calibration" app by Ne'Ma. You plug the phone in to charge. When it gets to 100%, you get a tone. Then you just click to wipe the stats. It has actually been working really well for me.

How many times have you done this? I usually am not comfortable calibrating my battery since it always messes up the battery readings for me. One sec I can be at 90%, the next at 92.

Well, you have to understand I am switching ROMs 2 to 3 times a day with all of the testing I do. Its actually recommended that you wipe your battery stats any time you switch to a different ROM. After that, I let it drain to about 15% and recharge to full. The battery settles after about 2 days on a new setup for me.

This is an EG22/GB bug, the phone dosnt kick back in after hitting 100% once, and since the phone dosnt go into deep sleep when plugged in (stays at 100mhz or higher) your battery will get run down if not disconnected once charged."
this is post 55 from [ERA] EPICUREAN SCrAMbLED EGgs22 v 4 w/ EG22 PLUS
p.s. the best way to see your true "battery life" is to completely power off and take the battery out for 5 mins and put it back into the phone and power it on..i know this suggestion has nothing to do with your problem but i felt i had to mention it because the phone has wrong misreads sometimes even without calibrating...I'm not on eg22 btw..or you could just calibrate and see if the issue still persists...

[Q] the battery could not charge fully

currently, my Atrix always could not charge battery fully even using electric outlet. is there anybody know how to fix it.
You could try calibrating it.
Charge the phone until it no longer charges. Leaving it plugged in, shut the phone off, then pull the battery. Wait for it to boot up and display a ? and battery symbol. Then place the battery back in. It should read 5%. Leave it for a few seconds, then boot the phone. Should now read 100%.
definitely trying that later today, thanks.

This, but I would add, that when you reboot, go to recovery first and wipe battery stats.
Mine has the same problem. Never charges past 60%. Calibrating, wiping battery stats several times does not fix it. I plan to buy a new battery to see if that solves it but I am not optimistic. Search for the thread named "atrix not charging past 88%", no fix for me yet and several others.

Same issue here, the percentage isn't always the same though. One morning it will be 94, 96 the next, and 90 the next. Always at 4207mv at those points. Tried wiping batterystats full, empty, etc.

Juggernauts fix helps the battery jumping issue, but not the battery not charging to 100%, at least not for me. The problem started after flashing official 4.5.91 and it has continued after I flashed to CM7. I am now used to removing the battery and putting it back in place while charging for it to read 100%, but it is annoying no one has found a cause or solution.
It really works
thanks

[Q] [CM7/9] battery at 99%

After i flashed cm7 a long time ago i noticed that after total charging (100%), when i disconnect the phone it immediately says 99%, i have callibrated the battery and still the same... is not something too important either, but it stills bugging me :/
any help?
btw, it's a red lens defy...
thats just how it is. When plugged in its using the power from the plug and when you disconnect it, then its drawing power from the battery so it will read less. There is no helping it, just what happens it doesnt mean your phone will discharge faster or anything.
99% battery after plug off happens to me always on every rom I tried (even stock one).
Actually I don't care at all.

There is no fix its just that the battery is fuller when plugged in. If you have battery monitor the mV will go down as it stops drawing power off the plug and draws it off the battery. Well, i had a Moto CliqXT(Quench) running cm7 that keeped the 100% for a while after unplug, that's why i asked... but thanks for the info, i thought my battery was damaged or something like that...
maybe it's something related to the kernel, as the cliqxt have the bootloader unlocked and many optimizations were made to it's kernel... just wondering...

[Q] Miscalibrated battery, need help!

I need some suggestions on how to calibrate the battery on my n4. It got miscalibrated when I did the update 4.2 to 4.3 and I haven't been able to calibrate it since then, a week ago.
I tried using battery calibration from the store but it didn't work, I tried charging the phone from 0 to 100 and it didn't work.
I remember I had the same problem 2 years ago with my Atrix and I solved it by wiping the battery stats from recovery, but now twrp and Cwm removed this feature and I don't know how to solve my problem.
Maybe it would help flashing all back to stock with the toolkit?
If you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

Just the answer I didn't expected, and frankly a pretty useless answer, everybody knows that battery calibration doesn't improve battery life.
But I have other problems, like I turn off my device at 80% and when I turn it on it's at 77%. Do you think that's normal?

You mean off as in all the way off? If so, then that ~3% is being used when the phone boots.

I've had many phones, and none of them lost charge during the boot, at least not that many. I think that's the clear sign of battery miscalibration, I've had this problem before with another phone. Besides that, I've had a strange behaviour of the battery, for example I saw it lose 4% in 1 second, from 66 to 62 in a blink of an eye.

It's not that it's losing charge quickly, it's just the OS (or the hardware itself) doesn't always do the best job of reading it. There's not much you can do about that, and it's really not an issue unless you make it so by staring at your battery level all day.

So what do you suggest I should do? Get the phone replaced or get the battery changed?
I live in India and the phone is from Canada, so replacing the phone will take some time but I can get the battery replaced for around $20
Also my nexus is also showing +ve mA values while it's not charging, and the values are absolutely crazy, +268, +168, +1171 (in batter monitor widget)
Please tell me what I should do.

Before you replace the battery try to disconnect the battery's flex cable and reconnect it [after you charge to device to 100% and turn it off of course] check if its 'reset' the battery.
