After i flashed cm7 a long time ago i noticed that after total charging (100%), when i disconnect the phone it immediately says 99%, i have callibrated the battery and still the same... is not something too important either, but it stills bugging me :/
any help?
btw, it's a red lens defy...
thats just how it is. When plugged in its using the power from the plug and when you disconnect it, then its drawing power from the battery so it will read less. There is no helping it, just what happens it doesnt mean your phone will discharge faster or anything.
99% battery after plug off happens to me always on every rom I tried (even stock one).
Actually I don't care at all.

On stock...? Rally? Didn't know there was a stock ROM with 1% increment. Stock ROM's only have a regular battery indicator and in battery's settings it shows the battery state in 10% increments - 100; 90; 80 and so on...

I think about-status shows percentage in 1 or 5% steps not sure... din use stock much...

Oops Probably I've used the stock rom too little... My memory is bad. But the part on CM is true

Well, i had a Moto CliqXT(Quench) running cm7 that keeped the 100% for a while after unplug, that's why i asked... but thanks for the info, i thought my battery was damaged or something like that...
maybe it's something related to the kernel, as the cliqxt have the bootloader unlocked and many optimizations were made to it's kernel... just wondering...

So, we all know that Android is kinda messed up regarding battery % and that we need to calibrate it in each build etc.
The thing is, when it is not calibrated and Android shows 89% when it is really 100%, won't the battery overcharge?
And why did WinMobile never had this problem? What is the method used in WinMo?
Well the basic thing is whenever you flash a new rom on your device, it looks at the current voltage of your battery and decides what percentage it has. So you will have to recalibrate the battery every time flash new rom. But to be frank I never did that and I have no problems with my battery. What I do is before flashing a new Rom I make sure to charge my phone overnight. Another thing you can do is use widgets like battery monitor widget to look at the voltage when its 100%. It should be somewhere around 4200mv.

Yeah I know that. But if it is not calibrated and for example it is 89% when the battery is 100% charged, can't it overcharge?
I noticed that when the battery reaches the appropriate voltage the current decreases from 800mA to 60mA or so... So I assume that there's some hardware check that disables charging even if the indicator shows 89%...

Windows knew it because windows was the first rom to be flashed on that device. After that we flashed another rom(android) which is not meant to be on this phone. hehe...

I was not talking about stock WinMo ROM, but about when we change to a custom WinMo ROM... it is also not the first ROM but it knows the correct %...

Well I am not a dev or know anything about programming side. But according to my understanding, other winmo roms are basically same as the original ROM with only some visual changes. So the files right at the system level will be unchanged mostly. But android builds are made from different phones' roms. So their system files may have to be edited....
Let's say an android phone with 5V battery rating would rate 4V as 80% whereas same ROM if put on different phone with 4V battery rating, it will still show 80% though the battery is actually 100% charged.
Though I might be wrong. Its just a guess....

My battery max charge changes depending on the theme I have installed. Sometimes I can get to 100%, and others only 97%. I find I get the same battery life in any event.
What theme are you using?

just the gingerblur 4.5-----on the slide to unlock screen it says 99% and says its changing,,,, on the battery calibrator app it says 99% and it says 4187mV isnt 100% 4200mV?
Try unplugging it and letting it discharge a few percentage points and then plug it back in to charge. Sometimes it takes strangely long to go from 99-100 for me though.

Plugged into the wall or usb? Sometimes on usb it wont do 100% if you phone is still using alot of juice..,
try to use another battery, or an other brand battery. maybe that could work.

The topic pretty much explains it. I've been using different modified stock roms and now I'm on the latest nightly of CM7, and I keep having this issue. After a reboot at around 50%, the battery drops to 15%. The weird part is that while I continue to use the phone, it slowly rises back up to sometimes 30% and then starts going back down. I've always cleared battery stats when flashing and calibrated (which I believe is unnecessary), but I don't know if this is a problem with the battery, the phone, or if anyone else is having the same issue?
Attached is a screenshot of battery usage. You can see I never actually charged the phone.

anyway guys, you need to recalibrate your battery, its not being read accuracy.
download BatteryCalibration from the market, charge your phone till 100% (not just 100% but when it beeps, that its truely at 100%), then use BatteryCalibration to calibrate your battery, and then drain it to 0.. (crank full brightness, turn on LED flashlight, blast internet radio, whatever makes it drain faster to get this part overwith), then recharge it to max.
so;
charge to full 100%
while still plugged in, run BatteryCalibration
discharge to 0%
recharge to 100%
battery successfully calibrated, you will now have an accurate reading

i have the same problem when i use custom roms.
i have been using pure stock rom by wannam but rooted for the past week with 12 hours aday syncing and surfing the net and plenty of voice calls via viber and my battery lasts at least 16 to 18 hours.
right now i am using odexed KL3 Kernel KL2Base KL1modem 2.3.6 and it is absolutely amazing interms of battery life and performance.

i have gotten rid of all samsung craps through titanium backup. i only have samsung apps application cuz of some paid apps which are for free such as tapatalk and many more on samsung app store.
my free memory is 97mb (original rom free memory is only 27mb)
i dont use any task killers i use 1Tapcleaner pro.

This thing only happens on CM7 for me. It had 40% before reboot and like 15% after. However mine only increased to about 17% then started dropping as usual. This never happened on any stock ROMs I've tried(stock, not themed/modded stock).

Its nothing to do with calibration etc, its just how the fuel gauge chip works, it learns and more accurately reports usage over time. For example, if you reboot and (I can't remember the actual voltages for the S2) you have 1200mV, the chip goes, "ah, that is 15% battery." Then as you use it more, it relearns its settings and goes "aaah, my mistake 1200mV is really 30% battery. I'll display that instead."
Its been covered frequently that "calibrating" the battery of the S2 in any way but actually using it, is next to useless.

Had this problem, when my S2 was half a year old.
I got the original Extended Battery and that solved this issue completely.
The replacement Battery has held up since 2013

did it but it still there... phone flicks and goes off at or below 40% wont turn on again:crying:
same here and I got the 2000 mAh samsung battery back in the days but now it happens with both of them also when my phone shuts off the screen brightness start flashing weirdly
I just flashed SyNthetic_aospX 1.0.0-BR7 on my HTC Glacier and started observing a little weird behavior with it. It died of battery, but when I restarted it, the phone showed 10% battery remaining.
I switched off and put it on charging, after 1.5 Hr, the charging indicator was still yellow but I switched on the phone and boom, it showed 100% charging and the led turned green. To double check I switched off the phone and plugged in, it was still showing yellow led. After around 45 mins, the battery was fully charged in off mode.
Is this some behavior known to anyone? Or it is time for my battery (my phone is still with original battery and it's almost 2 years).
Any help is highly appreciated ...
Well, first off, did you flash at 100% battery?
Second, is your battery swollen at all? It probably is after 2 years. I had to replace mine after a little over a year.
I can tell you that, even on CM7, I leave my charger off while in recovery because it might say 50%, but as soon as I reboot it might say 70%. A magical 20% increase in 45 seconds. Still, your battery behavior is off. If you decide to replace it, check out Anker.
Don't forget to flash another ROM to compare battery behavior.

Thanks estallings15, I initially flashed at < 100% but then realized my mistake so did a full wipe and then charged it to 100% (when powered off). And then flashed it again.
Seems my battery is little swollen, can't say though, I would give it a shot to replace it.
I tried another ROM but did not use it for full battery cycle, as I just love this ICS

For me, Anker is at least as good as OEM if not better, as well as cheaper. Answer your question?

I know, but this ROM is so awesome to leave ... But its good to know that I'm not alone
I need some suggestions on how to calibrate the battery on my n4. It got miscalibrated when I did the update 4.2 to 4.3 and I haven't been able to calibrate it since then, a week ago.
I tried using battery calibration from the store but it didn't work, I tried charging the phone from 0 to 100 and it didn't work.
I remember I had the same problem 2 years ago with my Atrix and I solved it by wiping the battery stats from recovery, but now twrp and Cwm removed this feature and I don't know how to solve my problem.
Maybe it would help flashing all back to stock with the toolkit?
If you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

Just the answer I didn't expected, and frankly a pretty useless answer, everybody knows that battery calibration doesn't improve battery life.
But I have other problems, like I turn off my device at 80% and when I turn it on it's at 77%. Do you think that's normal?

Either faulty battery or do the following:
1.Completley discharge N4
2.Charge fully(+2 hours after hitting 100&) WITHOUT disconnecting from the charger.
3.Repeat for better results.

To be honest, I don't know.
But if I would be you I would just let it charge while it's off(So the big ass white battery icon).
Let me know if you got your battery sorted after the method I posted!

You mean off as in all the way off? If so, then that ~3% is being used when the phone boots.

I've had many phones, and none of them lost charge during the boot, at least not that many. I think that's the clear sign of battery miscalibration, I've had this problem before with another phone. Besides that, I've had a strange behaviour of the battery, for example I saw it lose 4% in 1 second, from 66 to 62 in a blink of an eye.

It's not that it's losing charge quickly, it's just the OS (or the hardware itself) doesn't always do the best job of reading it. There's not much you can do about that, and it's really not an issue unless you make it so by staring at your battery level all day.

I'm having a similar issue. Phone rebooting to weird battery levels (not the %age it shutdown at).
Phone shutting down at 31% battery and rebooting to 0%.
I tried charging only to 100% yesterday with the phone ON.
Do I have to charge it even after it's charged to 100%?

Before you replace the battery try to disconnect the battery's flex cable and reconnect it [after you charge to device to 100% and turn it off of course] check if its 'reset' the battery.
