Something gone horribly wrong. - G2 and Desire Z General

I recently bought a HTC Desire Z off eBay, when I received the phone it was on stock T-Mobile 2.3.3 firmware. Unfortunately this isn't rooted but it does have S-Off. Does anyone know how to get back to Sense or am I stuck until a downgrade/rooting method is released? :/

Oh I fixed it and got back to stock unrooted. But for some reason my phone has decided to completely die on me :/ oh well.

Just out of interest - are you saying you managed to get HTC stock (with Sense) back on the phone after having the T-Mobile GB ROM on there? If so, how did you do it?
I'm thinking of trying out the T-Mobile ROM but don't want to root and wandered if I could go back to sense if I don't like it.
Cheers.

My phone was s-off so I just flashed through boot loader a root able 2.2 g2 build and went and rooted from there. I then changed the hboot back to the original desire z one and flashed sense 2.2 through the boot loader.

I'd recommend using this if you want Sense and want to keep all the rooted perks.
Vision Sense 1.82.405.1 Untouched: Rooted/Deodexed

Had to send it to htc as it bricked itself somehow :/ all that would work was vol + and power.

Restoring the stock Tmobile rom to a Mytouch 3g?

Hey guys, I flashed my Mom's phone with CM 6.0 a few weeks ago and it's been nothing but trouble for her. She has insurance and is planning to get a replacement phone, and I'm worried that she might get in trouble with Tmo for having a custom ROM.
So my question is, do I need to to an SPL or is there an update zip I can flash with Clockwork Mod to go back to the stock rom?
Thanks for my noobish question, I don't own this specific device so it's a bit confusing. Much easier to take care of on my Hero.
Your mom let you flash her phone? My mom wont let me go anywhere near her Motorola Cliq.
Anyway, go to theunlockr.com, and theres a guides there in how to UNroot, then Tmobile can send you a replacement (for whatever reason)...and yes, custom ROMs void your warranty, but when you unroot, its as if you never rooted. PERFECT stock.
BUT: you have to use the correct guide, is the phone a US T-Mobile Mytouch or a European HTC Magic? Or a Mytouch with the headphone jack?

Try a diffrent rom first, like the latest aosp 2.2.1 OTA for mytouch, cm6 has always been trouble, memory leaks up the wazoo. Anywho, in my opinion aosp froyo 2.2 one of the best roms I have ever had on my mytouch 3g fast as hell
You just need to hboot the sappimg.nbh

MT4G rooted S=off and unlock question regarding readying for resale.

My mt4g is rooted by the latest method true S=off and radio is unlocked. ROM is the original t-mo flavor.
Two questions:
1. If an update comes from t-mo does the phone need to be unrooted back to oem?
2. I'm selling the phone so with it rooted can I perform a factory reset and the phone will remain rooted and function properly? Will any other issues arise? Remember rom is stock never been flashed.
Thanks!

Anyone?

wiping it wont undo root so you're good
When tmobile pushes the rom to you it will unroot it when it upgrades. Then you just re-root it after the upgrade. Just did the same for my mt3g
^not necessarily, when the nexus received an update it killed their root and also kept the one click fixes from giving them root anymore. So lets not speak for the future. ^_^ . But you should be good if you sell, once its out of your hands, its not your problem no more.

Was curious about this myself. Now that the CM nightlies are starting to appear I'm getting closer to actually rooting my phone.

[Q] Stock Desire Z rom?

I tried to unroot my desire z today but it seems that I've installed a G2 rom instead of a Desire Z rom.
What can I do now? I don't want a G2 rom with T-mobile branding Where can I get a proper stock Desire Z rom?
edit: I managed to get Cyanogenmod back, so this thread can be closed
The phone doesn't do anything anymore. Guess I bricked it now. Help please
edit: it suddenly came back to life a minute ago. This is exactly why I want to go back to stock rom, I should really stop tinkering with stuff before I give myself a heart attack or something

HTC Desire HD Restore Stock

Hey
I followed this method here to root, install cwm and then install custom rom. I have decided that I want to return my phone back to stock settings, how will I do this?
So far I have tried many methods online but to no avail. Each time something is wrong. Such as I cant update ota or the proximity sensor doesnt work on different roms etc but does on some.
I assume I need to turn s-on and radio-on, restore the cid to stock, restore the rom to stock, update to most recent (same as before I followed this procedure) replace the recovery image.
Is this true or am I making a mistake or misunderstanding something.
Please help
The phone is Orange Desire Hd which was previously at 2.3.3 please give me links to stock roms or procedures i need to follow
Cheers.
Tim
ps sorry if this is in wrong place
I also need to do this to return my phone as a fault has occurred with my mic. I have two orange ruu's one later than the other.
I have tried putting back to stock in the past and succeeded but wouldn't update OTA. so I'm wondering what i could have done wrong

Same here!

Normally what I do is just flash the stock RUU and its done. Just download it from the HTC website and run it on your com with your phone plugged in. Did this twice. Of course if you want, you can s-off your device first as going back to stock would not s-on your device.
Refer to this thread to reverse your DHD back to stock rom unrooted.

[Q] Returning to Stock

I want to return my Evo Shift to stock, unrooted, and load the latest OTA. I've been having various hardware/software issues and it might end up going back to HTC for warranty so I want to avoid any issues associated with rooting. Right now I'm rooted and running a Sense ROM (forgot which one).
If I download the OTA and install it, will it brick the phone? If so, is there another way to unroot my phone and return it to stock? I lost my backup of the stock ROM somehow.

Your best bet would be to run the RUU.. Your can run the 2.2 ruu from HERE and then accept the upgrade or run the 2.3.3 RUU from HERE (just find the one marked "Speedy")
The ruu will bring you completely back to stock with s-on
Thanks, it worked great.
You dont have to load the OTA to take it back to sprint do you?? i'm taking mine back in today, for the 3rd refurb, and ive always given them the shift with the 2.2

2.2 is fine.. As long as your s-on you shouldn't have any issues.
