Hey guys, I flashed my Mom's phone with CM 6.0 a few weeks ago and it's been nothing but trouble for her. She has insurance and is planning to get a replacement phone, and I'm worried that she might get in trouble with Tmo for having a custom ROM.
So my question is, do I need to to an SPL or is there an update zip I can flash with Clockwork Mod to go back to the stock rom?
Thanks for my noobish question, I don't own this specific device so it's a bit confusing. Much easier to take care of on my Hero.
Your mom let you flash her phone? My mom wont let me go anywhere near her Motorola Cliq.
Anyway, go to theunlockr.com, and theres a guides there in how to UNroot, then Tmobile can send you a replacement (for whatever reason)...and yes, custom ROMs void your warranty, but when you unroot, its as if you never rooted. PERFECT stock.
BUT: you have to use the correct guide, is the phone a US T-Mobile Mytouch or a European HTC Magic? Or a Mytouch with the headphone jack?

Try a diffrent rom first, like the latest aosp 2.2.1 OTA for mytouch, cm6 has always been trouble, memory leaks up the wazoo. Anywho, in my opinion aosp froyo 2.2 one of the best roms I have ever had on my mytouch 3g fast as hell
You just need to hboot the sappimg.nbh

Guys,
I am interested in rooting my Telus Hero, but I am wanting to know if there is an original ROM image available for the Telus variant so that I can restore the phone to factory configuration if I need to. I mainly want to do this to install the Google Turn-By-Turn Navigation on it.
Thanks,
Y2J
just do a nandroid backup of your telus rom before flashing...
In order to do a Nandroid backup I have to root the phone first correct? If this is the case, then there is no way to unroot the phone to it's default out of box state, correct?
Thanks,
Y2J
Not quite correct, but close enough so as not to matter.
You don't need to be rooted to run Nandroid, but you do need to boot a custom recovery image. On earlier stock ROMs, it was possible to boot a recovery image without flashing it do the device, but this probably isn't an option for you since I guess the Telus Hero has the new SPL which disallows this.
What you really need is an original Telus RUU, but I'm not aware if this publicly exists.
Regards,
Dave
That's correct, there's no public Telus RUU.
If you really want a Telus stock ROM to revert to, wait till the eclair update comes out.
@y2jdmbfan
I was in the same boat as you. Wanted to use custom ROM but always wanted to have to option to go back to stock Telus ROM. I lasted a little over a month and bit the bullet. To be honest, if you are comfortable with customs roms and general phone hacking then I don't think there's a need to wait. There are some good stable custom roms out there and I don't see a need to ever go back to stock Telus (unless you need warranty work perhaps? but not sure).
I may bite the bullet tonight and try it out. I am using mine on AT&T in the USA anyways, so warranty work is out of the question.
To be honest, if you've flashed a custom ROM and you phone does go wrong, in order to get it back to stock your phone would need function to such an extent that you could load an RUU on to it - if it was completely dead or the USB died, it wouldn't matter if you had an RUU because you wouldn't be able to install it anyway.
Regards,
Dave

Just do it.
I have mine running on Rooted 2.73.405.66
Everything stock except it was rooted. Works great.
Hey, how did you root it on the stock?
Did you need to downgrade RUU?
I know I had too... could you make a ROM for all the people that want the stock..
If you want to go back to Telus 2.1 here's the link to the rom:

I've been looking for the stock RUU package for a T-Mobile (US) 32b MyTouch 3G with no luck.
Any help out there? It's a friend of mine's phone, and he's not liking CyanogenMod on there, and wants me to put it back to bone stock.
what you're looking for is "sappimg.nbh". You can find it on google if you search for something like "t-mobile us sappimg.nbh mytouch"

Hi!
A friend of mine has this device and he wants to have Froyo installed, I believe he still has the factory installed version it came with the phone (I think is version 1.6 or 1.8).
I have a Samsung Captivate and upgraded very easily to Froyo using Odin and the Cognition ROM.
Can anyone point me to a thread that has an easy (beginner to intermediate) way to upgrade the MyTouch 3G to Froyo?
Thanks!
If it is an original MyTouch(without the 3.5mm jack) then the easiest way would be to wait for the OTA update from T-mobile. If your friend doesn't want to wait then check out this thread: Manually update MyTouch to stock Froyo
What about updating an unlocked MT 3G? Will updating to Froyo relock the phone?
Yes, is a original (untouched) myTouch 3G....
I read that it will come OTA, but he haven't seen anything yet on his phone.
Thanks

does it have a 3.5mm jack or not?
I recently bought a HTC Desire Z off eBay, when I received the phone it was on stock T-Mobile 2.3.3 firmware. Unfortunately this isn't rooted but it does have S-Off. Does anyone know how to get back to Sense or am I stuck until a downgrade/rooting method is released? :/
Oh I fixed it and got back to stock unrooted. But for some reason my phone has decided to completely die on me :/ oh well.
Just out of interest - are you saying you managed to get HTC stock (with Sense) back on the phone after having the T-Mobile GB ROM on there? If so, how did you do it?
I'm thinking of trying out the T-Mobile ROM but don't want to root and wandered if I could go back to sense if I don't like it.
Cheers.
My phone was s-off so I just flashed through boot loader a root able 2.2 g2 build and went and rooted from there. I then changed the hboot back to the original desire z one and flashed sense 2.2 through the boot loader.
I'd recommend using this if you want Sense and want to keep all the rooted perks.
Vision Sense 1.82.405.1 Untouched: Rooted/Deodexed
Had to send it to htc as it bricked itself somehow :/ all that would work was vol + and power.
Just got a used myTouch 4G for my daughter. I am currently with Wind Mobile in Canada, so obviously this phone is unlocked.
I noticed that it is still on Froyo, and I don't see any obvious way to factory upgrade to the latest version of Gingerbread.
How would I go about upgrading to the latest version? For now, I'd rather not root/flash custom ROMs for this phone.
Some feedbacks are much appreciated.
