Hi folks.
I've just tried to flash my HD2 to Gingerbread from WinMobile 6.5 using the following instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 (It's in HTC Leo: HD2HD2 AndroidHD2 Android NAND Development[3.May.11][MAG/cLK] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.7 [GRJ22/Android2.3.4][Kernel:tytung_r10])
The HSPL installation went fine, however, when used the ROMUpdateUtility.exe, I've been left with a phone that won't boot past the O2 Welcome screen?
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing/done wrong? I've now got a phone that's useless No amount of resetting, rebooting or hard resets will change it.
Cheers!
Further update
Where it tells me to boot the phone whilst holding the power key down, it doesn't appear to do anything. If I do a cold boot, the phone just will not boot (but then it didn't under Windows) and if I hold it down & do a soft reset, just still goes to the O2 Welcome screen. I can put it into the ROM update Utility again & attempt to reflash the ROM (which now shows no Version number) and I get the screen that tells me The ROM Update is complete, although it takes only about a minute, as opposed to the 10 it should take!
FYI, the Phone ROM Update Utility is version 3.27.4.3, if this helps?
Ta!

I have downloaded and installed the latest 1.66 ROM from the HTC website, in an attempt to get my phone in some semblance of how it should have been when I first bought it months ago.
The update completed successfully and I clicked Finish on the software in Windows. (I was previously running IIRC 1.43 official).
The phone rebooted and is now stuck on the white screen with green HTC and red version numbers at the bottom left. It doesn't change from this state.
So, is this a final slap in the face from HTC in the HD2 ownership debacle? Is there anything I can try besides a hard reset which didn't help?

Try flashing it again if possible. Might not be possible the same way you originaly did it but will hopefully work. Good luck
try hard reset (vol up, vol down and press on briefly - follow the instructions on screen)...might help...
was your phone allowed the update or have you used HSPL?
Already tried hard reset unfortunately and no help. The phone is a HTC original and was allowed the update fine.
Trying to update by SD card now, which I didn't really know about before.
Edit: And that's not working, it just sticks on the red green blue and white bar screen. Will try and download rom again from a different HTC server.
Edit 2: SD in progress now.
Edit 3: Finished successfully and phone is starting up Yay. Can probably put this down to (stupid) user error.
Hi everyone in a panic but am trying to stay calm lol...
So i think i have over tinkered and broken my phone....
I am able to get to the boot loader by powering on and holding down the volume button and it will allow me to flash radio and rom to it but it never boots after just hangs and says loading please wait..
I have tried roms
chuckyrom 23148 tabtasitc
OzDroid 2.00
and radio's
2-11-50-26
2-11-50-26
and the same thing with these in any combo
I have ran task 29.. and have to admit i am left a bit worried now... any advice would be great i am going to read the rom section and try and get a new rom and radio combo...
Any Ideas ...
Okay phone seems to be flashing... but task 29 is not seeming to wipe my phone correctly it is still left with the chucky room splash screen after a task 29 i thought this should go white
First thing, your phone is fine - since you can get into bootloader mode.
What version of the HD2 do you have - is it the T-Mobile USA version?
Have you installed HSPL on your phone?
Go to the HTC website for your location and download the ROM for your phone (if your phone is unbranded then download the HTC ROM or if it is branded then download the mobile operator's branded version of the ROM). NOTE: If you are using a TMOUS phone, then double make sure that you are downloading the USA version of the T-Mobile ROM.
Bootup your phone into Bootloader Mode, then connect to your computer via the USB cable. Run the downloaded ROM. Ignore the connected via activesync in the warnings.
Hi i have a O2 uk hd 2 i thought the phone was okay as the laod was coming up and it seems to be writing to it... hm strange it just says loading but the red writing does not appear on the bottom left to say rom and radio version...
Hi have downloaded and flashed the o2 rom from the HTC website it seems to have gone okay BUT now when it boots it is just stuck on the O2 splash screen and goes no further..
I have now removed this from usb and re inserted the sim card and am getting this at the bottom
R 2.07.51.22...2 (Is this the radio?? or the Rom)
g15.32.50.07u
d 1.72.82124
and it has come up slowly and seemed to be loading windows mobile.. and then crashes and starts all over again...
Okay so I have now got a stock o2 rom from htc on my phone. and it is working.
Thank you Fred_up for the advice... should i now be able to start again trying to load a custom rom back on to the device to enable me to use android again?
Try doing a hard reset. While phone is Off, hold Volume up & Volume down buttons, then tap the Power button.
In Bootloader Mode, what does it say?
pull off battery and wait 5 minutes. let the phone cool and the insert back the battery.
it should be alright. however everytime your phone overheating its freeze again..
any solution to that let me know.
cool off your phone. take out the baterry and then once the phone is cool insert the battery and it will boot again.
now hd2 have this problem. overheating. the phone will freeze. hd2 now need freezer to make it not freeze.

Hey guys.
I have a bricked HTC HD2 here. I installed Android 2.2 on it, and it ran fine for a long time. But a few days ago, it got stuck in a bootloop. It gets stuck on the Android logo and doesn't get past that point at all.
What I've tried (in chronological order):
1. AD Hardreset from aMAGLDR: erased all data, but didn't fix the problem. Kept going in bootloop.
2. AD Recovery: Failed. Doesn't get past the "GO GO GO!!"
3. Repair aMAGLDR using HD2 NAND toolkit: tried repairing (150MB partition size) and installing Clockwork Mod (150MB). Same exact results when trying to get into AD recover. Only diffrence is that I now don't have a ROM on my NAND anymore.
4. Install a diffrent rom: Tried a few of them, but they all keep getting stuck on their bootlogo (HTC, Android, ...).
5. Restore STOCK ROM WM6.5: I'd love to, but I can't get into the three-colors-bootscreen. It goes straight to aMAGLDR, even when I boot holding the right buttons (volume down + power [both short click and long hold]). I had set up the ROM files correctly on the SD card.
6. Install the STOCK ROM using the HD2 NAND TOOL: after going to USB Flash mode and installing the default microsoft drivers (it didn't want to accept the Google Android drivers or HTC drivers I downloaded earlier), the flash utility keeps getting stuck on ERROR 264: CONNECTION. The only thing I can do in the HD2 NAND UTILITY is repair aMAGLDR. Other options result in the same error. Task29 can't find the phone either.
Bottom line, I cannot (ABSOLUTELY not) get into the tri color boot screen. It sends me straight to magldr. Also, my volume buttons are working just fine.
I really don't know what to do anymore. I hope someone can help me, any help would be greatly appreciated
Did you try this?
Download an original win 6.5 ROM for your HTC device from HTC webside.
- Take "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button

Did you even read the OP's post, clearly I think not. The OP says several times that they can not get the device to the multicolor WINCE bootloader.Without being ably to boot into the bootloader they can notflash via SD card.
At the OP you can stop trying to flash via USB flasher in MAGLDR, it is only for flashing Android RIMs, WP7 ROMs, and Custom Android recoveries. If you are positive your volume down button works then you probably have some bad NAND blocks, but that is just a guess, with out access to the bootloader you are pretty much only left with flashing Android or WP7 via USB flasher in MAGLDR.
That's problematic... The HD2 NAND utility can't flash any ROMs, since the utility can't find the device (error 264).
I've tried 8 diffrent ROMS (from http://android.hd2roms.com/) by putting them on the SD card and use the "AD SD boot" function, but none of them can get past their bootlogo... All ROMs keep hanging on HTC / Android logos. Some of them used to work in the past, I recall...
Here, try these fixes and read the WHOLE POST :

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, none of the solutions worked. The battery pins were indeed bent, but after putting them back in place, the problem persisted.
I left my phone powered down all night and tried booting it in bootloader this morning. It didn't work. So that rules out solution 3 awell.
I've even put it in the freezer for half an hour (solution 5), but nothing changed.. Browsed through the last thread aswell, but there was no stuff I haven't tried yet. I can't even start tetris, since it keeps hanging on a blank screen aswell
The guy in solution #4 was facing the same issue (I think).
Especially the second part of the solution, where he talks to the OP. Read it carefully, and check out the post and thread he referred to.
Holy freakin..
After reading various threads through links in the one you suggested, I stumpled upon something called American Android. I was able to install it through the USB Flasher. Guess what, it booted PERFECTLY!!
My phone works again, thank you VERY much!!

horayyy for the HD2 & for the guys that gave the solutions!
need information in case of not getting into the bootloader
how can I use the american android + USB flasher method to work for my hd2 if
I am not able to boot it,
can't soft/hard reset it,
can't get into the bootloader (using volume down + end key pressed).
I used android installed on SD card.
It is totally unresponsive for now. volumn keys worked perfectly when it is was working lastly !
Please tell what can bo done to it to get it working or where does the problem lies.
check your battery pins and also battery if it is charged.
and,
Download an original win 6.5 ROM for your HTC device from HTC webside.
- Take "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card(formatted FAT32.)
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume or without press
Click to collapse
and then you can try an android rom again..
Another solution?
I had the exact same problem. And I am under the impression that there is no solution for every case. But for me it worked to press the volume down button very softly. I tended to push the button as hard as I could, however when I only pressed the volume down button slightly it went straight to the triboot color.
Hopefully this works for some of you.
Can someone help?
Hi,I want to refresh post, becouse i have exact same problem - can't get to serial bootloader, and in MAGLDR i can use only the USB FLASHER option. If someone could tell me how to flash any new rom only through FLASHER ? Last thing i can say: my problem started from installing this app from google Play play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.livelogcat.lite (sry for that, but I can't post URL yet) it might messed up my kernel and i have no idea what to do.
Hello,
I recently found back my hold HTC HD2 and when I tried to start it up..It just hangs on the HSPL/SPL coloured screen. When I first powered it up HSPL by Cotulla was on it and it always ran Android.
So I download the Stock Windows Phone ROM from the Internet and installed it, but it still hangs on the HSPL Screen. So I installed the Stock SPL but I didn't help..
Can someone please help me? I really want to use the phone again but it seems there is a problem. There still is a SD-Card in it which has 4GB...Can someone please explain me how to get the phone back to Stock windows phone?
Can someone please help me?
Try removing sd card.
If still same issue leave sd card out & reflash ROM from links below.
flash hard spl 2.08
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=522724&d=1298224028
flash htc rom
http://www.androidruu.com/Leo/RUU_L..._Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
* If it a T-Mobile USA hd2 (red endkey & green callkey) then use that model ROM linked below
http://www.androidruu.com/Leo/RUU_L...adio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_1.5_Ship.exe
When rebooting also use the soft reset button next to battery & try it a few times if unsuccessful first time booting.

I had the same problem bro, do you want android or windows on the phone?
I want the original Windows Phone back on it.
Mister B:
I followed your steps but it didn't fix the problem. When I start up the phone, the three coloured display shows up and it says 'Serial' on the bottom. Tried the reset button several times and even holding down both Volume-buttons to Hard Reset the phone, but it didn't fix the problem.
The phone always worked fine, what is the problem?
Have you tried doing Task29(full wipe) via HD2 toolkit?
Yes, I already tried Task29 before flashing Hard SPL and Original ROM. I really want to get the Phone working again so my Mom can use it!
Hopefuly someone can help my out with this annoying and weird problem.
After installing the stock rom, what did the phone do? Did it restart to the HSPL screen?
Yes, it restarted back to the HSPL screen. It also shows 'Serial' on the bottom and when I connect USB cable It shows 'USB' on the bottom.
Try flashing stock rom from sd card rather than via usb & see what results you get.
I tried flashing the Stock ROM from the SD-card but it didn't help. It still is stuck at the SPL-screen showing 'Serial' on the bottom when I start up the phone.
Which exact ROM do I need to use for a Netherlands(Europa) HTC HD2 (NON-TMOUS!)?
I hope to hear back from you as soon as possible!
Can someone help me please? Tried everything!
