[Q] Apple wireless Keyboard with Transformer? - Eee Pad Transformer General

Has anyone successfully connected an Apple wireless keyboard?
Pairing is working fine on PRIMORDIAL 3.1 but the keyboard doesn't work.
I've already tried with BlueKeyboard Pro JP but there if I choose "Bluetooth settings" I get a ForceClose

Same on Prime 1.4. My co-worker has one and I paired it up, but was never able to select it as an input method.
Not sure if its a HC issue or Prime Issue

You can connect it successfully with the app "Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect". But this only works about 50% of the time, sometimes you have to reboot the Transformer...

has any one done it after rooting their transformer? i just got my transformer yesterday and im not sure if i want to root it yet, but i do need the a keyboard and i already have an apple one. if there is no way of getting the keyboard to work with out root i guess i will root but i wanted to leave it stock. Any suggestions? or should i just go ahead and root the dang thing?

Pretty cool. That would be nice for websites that make use of mouse over (hover) functionality, at the very least. I wonder if it is specific to the keyboard / mouse in the video or would most mice work just as well?
How does this setup work with Xtralogic's RDP Client??

not in the US
The US version of the Tab does not allow connecting with a BT keyboard or mouse. Pairing works fine, it recognizes the keyboard & mouse as a keyboard and a mouse, but connection simply fails. Other Tab owners in the US have had the same problem. Ah, yes. Land of the free.
BTW, my firmware build number is DJ11, but on the pdadb.net site I see that the latest is DJ30. Under 'System updates' my Tab claims that it is up to date.
Any advice? Other than moving overseas? Maybe rooting & flashing new firmware?

DJ30 is for the Sprint version.
Flashing with European firmware will make this availalbe on your Tab.
I have t-mobile Galaxy Tab that I got from the day 1... and today, I was very disappointed with the fact that I can not get the Bt keyboard working with usa version.
Why all usa versions are crippled with no voice + now no BT keyboard...
Please... I do not want to return this cool tab, but I really want to use it with
the BT keyboard so that it can replace the netbook completely...( i got nice heavy performance labtop... already..)
I can bear with no voice.. but can some1 come with the solution for the BT keyboard pairing?

How did u pair ur apple keyboard to tmobile tab?
I tried to pair, but I couldn't ...
It says 'type xxxxxxx to pair', but there is no window where I can type those numbers...
when I tried to pair with my galaxy s, I could type in the numbers, but it still dint connect...
I searched everywhere, and it seems all tab pairing with bt keyboards are from other countries, not us..
Any help?

I have found that if you simply type those numbers on the BT keyboard and then press Enter, the Tab will seem to acknowledge that it is proceeding with the connection: the 'type xxxxx to pair' message disappears the instant you hit Enter. However, that's where it stops. It does not actually connect to the keyboard. It's one thing to share phone numbers with someone, it's another thing to get that person to answer your call.
I think Samsung wants to see how well their keyboard dock sells before enabling this feature (I *hope*) in a future release of Android for the Tab. Don't lose hope yet! If this were an el-cheapo Android tablet, then I'd say there's probably no hope for it. But Samsung has put a lot of resources into this tablet, so there will be a lot of development (and hacking) for it. And a lot of users who spent a lot of money are very pissed off, even returning the tablets back to the store. That's good, let Samsung know you're angry!
Meanwhile, I have just received in the mail a Bluetooth developer's book. I will see what I can determine about the internals of BT on the Tab: I know the full BT stack is there because I did use it to transfer files with my Mac. I was also able to write an Android app that paired my HTC Incredible (which also prohibits connecting with a KB & mouse) with my BT mouse, but I didn't go as far as to connect and read mouse movements. Pairing is easy, connecting is the question. I'll try the keyboard next.
On the VZW Tab, I have been able to pair a keyboard, but not get it to connect either.
I tried the latest version of BlueInput off of the Teksoft, but it does the same thing - pairs, bur won't connect. (There's an earlier demo version in the market). I also tried KeyPro from the market (also demo), but it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard I'm trying to use (gearxs bluetooth mini keyboard - it appears to be sold under other names - it came with a CD with Android drivers, but it pairs, but won't connect).

I have the T-Mobile US version and I can now also confirm it working for both mouse and keyboard. I bought a logitech revolution 5500 combo at best buy and they both paired without a hitch. Simply awesome I must say. Tab recognized them independently by name. When asked for pin for pairing the keyboard I entered it on the keyboard itself and then was connected upon hitting enter.

Ok, great! That's encouraging. So it looks like Verizon may be the culprit and not Samsung. I'm now considering taking a trip to BestBuy to see if I can trade my Verizon Tab for a different one, I think a Sprint model was available. I'll test it with a BT keyboard & mouse before I bring it home.
[edit] Were it not for a $90 restocking fee and an assurance from Sprint customer support that the Sprint model of the Tab does not support the HID Bluetooth profile, I might have traded my Verizon model for a Sprint model. Contrary to what the Sprint customer support person said, in the store I was able to get the Sprint model to *attempt* to connect to my Bluetooth mouse (which I brought with me). There was a menu option on the Sprint model that let me view Bluetooth connection options, allowing me to use the mouse as a HID device. I believe that the problem was an incompatibility with the mouse itself. This menu option is utterly absent on my Verizon model. Next time I go back I'll try bringing my Apple keyboard (the BestBuy I went to didn't have a Bluetooth keyboard in the whole building).

Ditto....works just fine for me on my stock t-mobile tab...
I'm not sure about BT keyboards but the kb-dock sold by Carphone Warehouse UK seems to be the Samsung keyboard and it looks pretty cool and holds the tab upright at a slight angle for visibility. Been sold at nearly £40. I'm thinking of getting it because it will save battery and can also plug the charger and headphone while docked. I don't have any bt keyboard anyway and that feels just right.
Thanks everybody for your input on this forum.
I have a MS BT mouse notebook 5000, It'll pair but will not connect no matter what I try. This is on a Sprint Tab. Anyone get a Sprint working with BT 5000?
On the other hand Im able to use my Motorola BT S9 head set as headphones and make Unlocked Skype 3g calls no problem.

Help-HID drivers from Sprint/T-mo tabs?

Since verizon delibrately screwed us out of BT keyboard functionality, I wanted to know if we could take matters into our own hands. Could someone with a sprint/Tmobile tab take a look in the file system (might have to use ASTRO file manager to get to the root files) to look for HID drivers? I would imagine that it might be worth porting to us verizon tab owners. Currently there is NO solution for verizon unable to pair with bluetooth HID devices while Sprint and T-mobile seem to do fine.
I would be happy to provide any information from the verizon side. my guess is that verizon simply left out the HID drivers that would provide any bluetooth input from a keyboard. That would explain the keyboard to be found and paired smoothly with the tab over bluetooth, and yet the input would not work.
Please help us desperate verizon owners.
ps. I thought about selling it and buying a sprint tab but with verizon cutting the price of a new tab to 499$, it makes no sense to sell it on ebay for anything more than 499, and buy a 540 sprint tab.
Thanks all.
I can tell you as a Sprint Tab owner that Sprint did the same thing. You can pair with anything you want, but you can't connect. I believe that T-Mobile and At&T have been verified to work with different keyboards, but so far only the Freedom Pro BT keyboard has been shown to work with the CDMA devices. I am hoping that the Brando BT keyboard case will work, but no one has tried it yet.
i can confirm the freedom pro works. though i had to do some work. i had to go and download the spp drivers for android from freedom input to get it to work. i did get a hid keyboard to pair but no go on it working of course. i saw in another thread someone ordered the brando keyboard but hadn't gotten it yet. Here is the link to the keyboard. i just asked them if it works on HID or SPP profile. we will see what they come back with.

Do you have the Sprint or Verizon Tab?
The case/keyboard combo from Brando is what I really want. I have a feeling it is just HID.
There is another thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913456
They have a new kernel with Bluetooth HID enabled. I am waiting for confirmation it will work on a Verizon Tab and then will try that. It should restore HID for us.
I have the sprint tab.
What is the file name, I can pull it from my tmo tab.

Possible work around
I wish I could test this right now, but my Tab is back at Samsung being repaired. I have a generic mini Bluetooth keyboard that wasn't working with my Tab or my Captivate. I just got it to work with the Captivate.
I downloaded the drivers for the Freedom Bluetooth Pro keyboard from their site directly through the browser on my device. After installation I had to activate the driver through the "Locale and Text" option in settings. Once activated, paired the keyboard and changed the keyboard to Freedom Pro. Keyboard worked...
I don't know if this will work on the Tab, but i can't wait to get mine back and test it. If anyone gives it a try, let us know how it worked.
The freedom pro will work w/ spp only. I have the sprint tab and got the freedom pro to work the same way you did w/ downloaded the drivers and installed.

I purchased and received the BRANDO keyboard 2 days ago....I did an unboxing video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LXW9HHH4eQ
This video is just the unboxing & comparing it to the Samsung keyboard. I tried pairing it today...It paired in literally 2mins but....no action when testing it out on messenger.mIam going to see if there are some solutions floating around on the net....I love the weight & form factor of this CASE/Keyboard.
I flashed my Sprint Tab with ROTO's JME and Bluetooth HID works.
I then made a backup of all files with BT, Blue, Bluetooth, etc, in the file name. (lots)
Then reflashed back to Sprint firmware, copied all the files back and no Bluetooth HID

Apple wireless BT keyboard

Hi all, its not that I am a supporter of Apple, but just a thought that come across my mind, that has anyone tried the BT wireless keyboard from apple on A500?
was having the thought that if can be used (keyboard) it kinda gives us more variety in how we can use our A500.
I have one at home, If I can remember I'll try when i get home. Should work no problem since it is bluetooth.
I have tried this and it did NOT work. Pairing was successful but no keystrokes were passed on to applications at all. I tried both the one I use on my Mac at home, as well as a new one from the store.
(I took that one back and got a Microsoft Arc instead, figuring I couldn't go wrong with USB, right? Sadly that doesn't work either, although other random USB keyboards I have around the house do.)

Apple bluetooth keyboard with a500
It pairs by entering keystrokes so the device (a500) is reading the keystrokes from the keyboard but you cannot select to use the apple BT keyboard as an input method...
Any ideas on how to tweak this?
no luck, Still trying to figure this out. You would figure that if xoom could do it then the a500 would.

Bluetooth Connects But Won't Work

I went to connect my magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard to my transformer and everything seemed to work out okay. They both paired correctly and the transformer said that both were connected. When I moved the mouse, however, no cursor appeared on the screen. Also, the transformer wouldn't take any input from keyboard. I know that both of them work because they connect with my computer fine and they worked with my 7" galaxy tab. I tried unpairing and then repairing and rebooting the device, but neither of those worked. I just hope that I don't have to return the transformer and pick up another one.

A magic mouse is an apple wireless mouse. I am pretty sure that apple doesn't offer any drivers with the devices. Does anyone else have an apple keyboard or mouse that they could test with their transformer to see if it isn't compatible with the apple devices or if my transformer just doesn't work?

[Q] K1 CM10 v6.1 Bluetooth Keyboard Issue

So I bought a EC tech Bluetooth on Amazon (I'd post a link but I can't) to use with my K1. I'm running krook's CM10 v6.1. The keyboard pairs and says it is connected, but it never shows up as an input device. I can work around the issue by using BlueKeyboard JP to connect. However, this seems clunky as a solution and doesn't work for Ctrl or Tab.
From hunting around, others have this issue with other BT keyboards, but I haven't found any solutions. It works fine with my Galaxy Nexus that is running stock 4.2.2.
Anyone have helpful thoughts? I tried copying the keyboard layouts from my phone, but that didn't help.
