I've been using I-mate Jamin for more than a year now with few problems in Syncing my Outlook (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes.. )
Recently, the device started slowing down considerably, and failed to sync with Outlook. I did a hard reset & started all over. after many trials & hard resets, the problem kept arising, and I discovered that the problem occurs when I sync the Calendar to the device.
So I decided to sync only the past 6 months of Appointments instead of the whole thing. Turns out this is not the problem. I narrowed down the Problem to Birthdays. When I sync the Birthdays, the problem happens, all other Calendar appointments are OK.
I tried deleting all Birthdays and recreating them one by one (by re-saving the contacts that contain Birthdays) thinking that I have some corrupt ones, but even that didn't solve the problem. The newly created Birthdays still slowed down the device & prevented Sync and i even had to Hard reset the device again..
I can't figure out the problem at all.. these birthdays were on my device for the whole year, I didn't change anything subtle (like new ROM or new Application).. the problem just happened out of the Blue and I can't seem to solve it... I even tried syncing the Birthdays one by one.. the problem seems random, and to prove it, I re-created the birtdays as I said above..
Can anyone help???
I've been facing the exact same problem and have no solutions to it as well. It all started when I start to sync with another laptop though.
Guys
Does anybody else have a problem when composing a sms that when typing a recipient some contacts are duplicated (two of each) in the scroll list that appears and also contacts that I have deleted keep appearing (although they are no longer in the people app or synced with google.
In the people app I have unchecked Google and Sim contacts so I am not sure why this is happening?
any clues?
Yes. It is. In the appointment too I got 5,6 repeated duplicates. May be... I think it is because Tattoo sync with Google Calendar besides Outlook calendar, and even Google calendar & Outlook Calendar (2007) they maintained a no. of different calendars like My Calendar and outlook ... and... So, these things created duplicate entries at some points of conflict or something.
This is really annoying.
I wonder if this happens on the hero as well - it runs the same htc sense and htc messaging app - it could be worth posting this in the hero forum as well
ok the plot thickens on this one - I just used HTC sync with outlook for the 2nd time since getting the phone to see if that would get rid of the duplicate contacts in the messaging app.
Guess what - after the sync ive now got three of evry contact showing on the drop down list. Ive got a feeling that syncing with outlook is causing this.
The only way I can think of getting around this is to master reset the phone then only sync with gmail. Ireally dont want to have to do this - anyone got any better suggestions?
I saved all my contacts on the phone and deleted everything on the sim to get rid of the duplicates.

But actually it is not the question of duplicate from sim and phone.. I never save anything on sim... actually it happened while sync with MS Outlook 2007. But never complain before because I always sync with two PCs, one at home and another at my workplace.. and now it also sync with Google.. may be conflict from that...just guessing...
Anybody have some good explanation is welcome.
Just to let you know, this also happens on my HD2, the contacts from SIM and phone are displayed in messaging. This seems to be happening right across the board with sense. There must be a registry tweak or something to correct this? Anyone?
I know how to fix this

You copy all your sim, phone, twitter, facebook contacts to Google first...
Then delete contacts from all other accounts except Google.
Now if your syncd with google, you can open the contacts within gmail ( would be good if you do on PC ) and use the 'find duplicates & merge' button.
i had around 700 contacts which duplicated many a times to some 3000....
this saved me alot of effort...
refer to ScreenShots... Hit Thanks
after everything is merged in google, do you just leave everything not saved on the phone and sim, or can you import them back to the phone and eliminate the duplicates?
Hi All,
I had searched through the internet and thsi forum and could not find similar issues which I have encountered.
Just bought my HD2 and happily set up the exchange sync. Everything synced as per expected except of the calendar. whenever it synced, it goes into an infinit loop (calender entries goes into the 10s of thousands!) and doesn't stop at all.
FYI, I have checked the settings many times and I'm 101% sure that I have only set this thing to sync for calender up to just 2 weeks ago.
Due to this infinite loop, I can't sync my calendar as everytime it active sync fires up, it chews up my CPU usage to 97% and the drains my battery.
Please help guys as i'm getting desperate.
Thanks!
hi guys, any suggestions/advice? Thanks.
I work with Exchange daily, and I've seen calendar sync problems before, but never this exact problem, so the suggestion I'm about to offer is just a best guess.
I would back up my calendar folder to a pst file, and then delete all my calendar items. You can do this by changing the calendar view to "category", doing a select all, and then hitting delete. (warning, this will break any meetings you’ve setup with other people on your exchange server).
Once you've deleted all your calendar items, try syncing again. If it starts looping with an empty calendar, I'm at a loss... All I could think to do would be backup your entire Exchange mailbox to a pst, delete your Exchange account and start over, but that would be a major pita.
If after deleting all your calendar items, the looping goes away, try adding a single entry into your calendar and see if it syncs. Then try importing everything back into Outlook, and see if the looping starts up again. Hopefully it won't. If it does, it's almost certainly a particular item that's causing the problem. You'll need to import sections of your calendar and watch for the looping to start. It will just be a slow painful process of elimination to find the item that is causing the problem. Once you've found the item, try deleting it and recreating it.

thanks mate. This is similar to what I had planned for, i.e. since I was only going to sync past 2 weeks' worth of calendar events, I might just archive all events in those previous 2 weeks on outlook (PC) then proceed with active syncing on the HD2. If it works, I would then slowly port the archived events one by one and try to isolate where the problem is. Will be doing this very soon. Stay tuned and thanks for the advice!
All just wanted to say I have resolved this issue.
For some wierd reason, Active sync got stuck (running in infinite loops) at the Exchange calender sync due to some of the past recurring calender events having a 'no end date'.
To resolve this, simply delete all these recurring events bearing 'no end date' and sync again. I did that and it worked!
I have also verified that this problem ONLY happens in the VERY FIRST Calendar sync. Subsequent Exchange Calender sync for recurring events bearing a 'no end date' have no issues syncing.
woohoo!
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my legend calendar, it should automatically get all my friends' birthdays from my facebook account, but the problem is I can only see some of them in my calendar, most of the birthdays are lost.
I don't understand how can this happen, does the phone have a max. number of birthdays it can store or something?
Is anyone else here experiencing the same problem?
I have both my Exchange account and my Facebook account setup to sync on my Vibrant. The calendar items that sync from Facebook show up fine on the phone and they are in turn synced to Exchange and show up in Outlook. The problem is, they all show up with the wrong time in Outlook... they are all 4 hours early. I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so I think it's that they are listed as Pacific Time. Is there any way to change that?
Also, everytime the phone does a scheduled sync of the Facebook calendar, it adds another copy of the Facebook events to my Outlook calendar. It creates a new one every time. Any suggestions?
For now, I've just had to disable calendar sync for the Facebook account on the phone, but I'd like them to sync.
Doesn't anyone else have their phone syncing with their Exchange and Facebook calendars? If so, do you see the wrong time and duplicates for Facebook calendar items that are added to you Exchange calendar in Outlook?
Someone else must have their phones syncing their Exchange and Facebook calendars, right?
I haven't had this exact problem but something very similar. I use calWidget to display my agenda on my home screen. Any of my face book events that show up on there are behind by 5 hours. When I click to enter the calendar app though, the correct times are listed. This only happens with my facebook events. So you're not alone Yogi, but I have no solution for you.

Thanks for the response. At least now I know I'm not crazy.
You aren't tripping, I have the same exact problem. The only difference is mine are off by 7 hours. Its really pissing me off, and makes my widget totally useless. UGH!!!!!!

Yogi, I am currently experiencing the exact same problem here in our office with one user. The question I have, is why is Active sync even pulling in the Facebook calendar events? My user happens to be using the same email address for both Facebook and work email accounts, could that be why Active sync is pulling the events? In any event, if at this point I could get the Facebook events to show up on the users phone and not her outlook that would be fine. The best solution would be to get the FB events to show up properly in her outlook, (they are showing up about 4 hours early) at the right times and not repeating themselves.
Did you find any solutions?
