I have both my Exchange account and my Facebook account setup to sync on my Vibrant. The calendar items that sync from Facebook show up fine on the phone and they are in turn synced to Exchange and show up in Outlook. The problem is, they all show up with the wrong time in Outlook... they are all 4 hours early. I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so I think it's that they are listed as Pacific Time. Is there any way to change that?
Also, everytime the phone does a scheduled sync of the Facebook calendar, it adds another copy of the Facebook events to my Outlook calendar. It creates a new one every time. Any suggestions?
For now, I've just had to disable calendar sync for the Facebook account on the phone, but I'd like them to sync.
Doesn't anyone else have their phone syncing with their Exchange and Facebook calendars? If so, do you see the wrong time and duplicates for Facebook calendar items that are added to you Exchange calendar in Outlook?
Someone else must have their phones syncing their Exchange and Facebook calendars, right?
I haven't had this exact problem but something very similar. I use calWidget to display my agenda on my home screen. Any of my face book events that show up on there are behind by 5 hours. When I click to enter the calendar app though, the correct times are listed. This only happens with my facebook events. So you're not alone Yogi, but I have no solution for you.

Thanks for the response. At least now I know I'm not crazy.
You aren't tripping, I have the same exact problem. The only difference is mine are off by 7 hours. Its really pissing me off, and makes my widget totally useless. UGH!!!!!!

Yogi, I am currently experiencing the exact same problem here in our office with one user. The question I have, is why is Active sync even pulling in the Facebook calendar events? My user happens to be using the same email address for both Facebook and work email accounts, could that be why Active sync is pulling the events? In any event, if at this point I could get the Facebook events to show up on the users phone and not her outlook that would be fine. The best solution would be to get the FB events to show up properly in her outlook, (they are showing up about 4 hours early) at the right times and not repeating themselves.
Did you find any solutions?

Unfortunately, no, I never found a solution to this.

Hi,
I use ADP1.1 and I think since Root Access or maybe even before that (so since the beginning) my google calendar doesn't sync correctly with my G1.
First and most important it only syncs about 30-50% of all events. The rest doesn't show up, even so it's online at google calendar.
And then when I delete a calendar online and import a new one (to update calendar from Entourage/iCal) the G1 shows all the events it syncs twice or three times.
Is there any solution or a reason why that happens? I've asked it before but no answer in another forum. I've read something about two events similar not syncing. But why?
I wanna have my whole calendar from Entourage/iCal on my G1. Is there any way?
Thx.

This probably isn't the cause, but I found one syncing bug in CalendarProvider so far: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1860 This would happen while attempting to sync some repeating events (with no timezone?) and it kills the whole sync process. You can see if it's affecting you by going to Dev Tools / Exception Browser and looking for the exception I quoted in that bug.
As for multiple copies of events, it's possible the G1 still has the old calendars you've deleted (especially if the sync process is being interrupted). Are the events different colours? Do you see the correct set of calendars in Menu / My Calendars (also from there Menu / Add Calendars)?
I'll check that, thx.
No it's fine online, only one event, but on the G1 there are multiple events.
Just goin out on a limb, but I assume you are manually syncing also to make sure?
I deleted the calendar of the G1 because of duplicates (again, after syncing with a new google calendar, strange). Now syncing is working fine.
I sync it with iCal now (instead of importing an iCal file), but now somehow iCal sync missed two events of about 40 which weren't shown at google's online calendar. Strange, very strange.
Well, at least all google events online now can be found on my G1.
Thx anyway.
This thread will be moved to Dream general.
Has nothing to do with developement.
Thank you.
I've got a stock Evo I'm testing for 30 days (90% sure I'll keep it) and sync'd my Outlook 2003 calendar to it. For some reason, when I delete ONE occurrence of a recurring event, it deleted EVERY occurrence of that event.
After going to the HTC Seattle event the other night, I spoke to a few HTC reps about it, showing them the issue. I even created an example recurring event and it had the option of 'Delete All Events' or 'This and Future Events'.
The HTC folks were stumped, since all their phones would allow you to delete just the current recurring event, instead of every single instance.
Any ideas? I really need to be able to get rid of past recurring events so I know when I actually missed something truly important.
You will need to use the "@gmail" calendar and not "my calendar" on the phone.
My wife had the same problem...i didnt.
She synced her calendar with outlook, i didnt.
Her reoccuring dates wouldnt allow to delete a single instance...mine would.
She was using the "my calendar", I was using the "@gmail" calendar.
To fix the problem for her I exported her "my calendar" and set her phone to use the @gmail google calendar and then imported her calendar into that and it fixed the problem.
Or you could maintain your calendar in Outlook and then just sync it everytime changes are made.
Another option (which i would have her use but it currently doesnt not support outlook 2010) is Google Calendar Sync. That will keep your outlook and google calendar in sync using two way.
Crap.... Really? Darn...
Thanks for the reply! I guess I'll need to do some research on G-Calendar.
I use my phone for everything, and then back it up to my Outlook as a reserve, so I guess I'll need to create a G-Mail account as well.
Any advice on migration?
You can sync Outlook to Google Calendar

(As long as it's not Outlook 2010; it's not supported yet...)
I just got an HD2 and got Android running onto it without any issue. I am planning to switch over from an iPhone. I have one issue. I am a users that heavily uses Outlook on a daily basis to manage my Contacts and Calendar. Also, I use iTunes for my music.
I did some research on finding ways to sync iTunes and outlook with Android but I couldn't find any satisfying solution.
I was hoping you guys would be able to share how you guys sync Outlook's contact and calendars onto Android.
I know there are few methods out there where I can sync my Outlook with Gmail using Google Sync app, and then sync my Android with Gmail. Isn't there a more simpler method to achieve this?
This is not a solution to your problem, its just what I did to solve all this import/synch from outlook contacts / calendar which is a very frustrating task. I stoped using outlook! I imported all contacts and calendar entries to gmail - gmail calendar and now everytime I run a new android build all these get synchronized automatically. I just input gmail username and pass. It takes only a minute.
Hope this helps

Obviously it's not an option and I never understood why people still complain about a full blown Outlook solution.
I'm in the same situation as you and I solved with a couple of little programs.
Google Contacts Outlook Synchronizer and Google Calendar Sync. You only have to set things once, then everything works on the fly.
As for your music, winamp has just released a beta version which can sync music via wifi or usb. You do need a beta desktop version as well, found here

I ran into Google App Sync, https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gappssync, but it seems that I have to pay for it. Isn't there something similar to this which is free?
Just thought I'd share my experience on this. Before I got my DZ, I was used to sync'ing my Outlook calendar (Outlook 2007) with my WinMo phone (TP2).
With the DZ, I thought I would use HTC's own HTC Sync software. This can sync various items to the phone from a PC, e.g. calendar, bookmarks, files, contacts, etc. You can download it from HTC's website - http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1058&news_id=804
However, I found it didn't handle repeating appointments properly at all, something I've raised with HTC (but had no response yet). If I change one instance of a repeat appointment (e.g. different time, or deleted it), it just didn't seem to pick it up, and didn't sync the change to my phone.
I then thought I would try out Google Calendar Sync - http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
Google Calendar Sync works much, much better. I sync'd my Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar initially, then removed my "PC Sync" calendar from my phone, and sync'd my Google Calendar with my phone. It is working fine so far, it picks up things like changes in single instances of repeat appointments.
I'm still using HTC Sync for sync'ing bookmarks and photos, but not my calendar any more.

Coming from the exact same old phone and doing the exact same process, I wound up doing the exact same thing!
Problem is google calendar sync doesn't work with Outlook 64 bit.
I am using a product called CompanionLink - but it's only a 15 day trial

My HTC calendar widget has stopped working it just shows the "Loading" text and even if you go into the calendar app no events are present. Going to Sync/Accounts and selecting my Google account shows the circular arrow next to "Sync Calendar" - not sure if this means it is trying to sync, but it is there all the time and the arrow is not animated. I don't think this is to do with the Calendar app specifically, since if I use the Google widget nothing shows up there either.
Occasionally, it will work after I reset the phone, but otherwise it is mostly stuck in this state. Any tips on how to diagnose the problem or how to get it working again?
I have the same issue. I found out that when I am also using the Exchange ActiveSync calendar account sync - the calendar's functionality malfunctions more often.
I too have yet to fully understand the root cause for this isseue.
One thing, though, when calendar is stuck in syncing, it consumed a lot of cpu and it blocks other apps from working properly.
I would really appreciate more comments regarding this issue.
Thanks!
Does anything sync and do you ahve the sync service running?
It sometimes works, sometimes not. When it does, UK Holidays, Facebook and my standard Google Calendar syncs, but other calendars on GC do not. They show up on the calendars list fine, but they are not displayed. Actually now looking at it, it seems it may just be loading a cache of previous information, since there's events on the calendar that I've sinced deleted. The sync service I'm pretty sure is running, called Sync and Accounts under OSmonitor? That one's running. Everything else on my phone (Friend Stream, mail, weather) syncs fine, it's just this damned calendar.
I hadn't noticed the Exchange ActiveSync calendar prior to this - it was set to sync even though I don't have anything on it. I have since disabled it and it seems to have improved slightly, but the calendar still shows up calendars list. I've emailed HTC about this, hopefully they'll have some idea of how to fix it.
Ok quick update - HTC emailed me telling me to clear the cache. Having done so (and disabling ActiveSync which I wasn't using anyways) my calendar seems to be working. Anybody with this problem might want to try this and see if it works.
Same as you, I had lot of sync problems with Exchange. It was completely unreliable, until I discovered Laurie's blog !
http://laur.ie/blog/2010/09/exchange-2010-sp1-sync-with-android-froyo/
I installed the Google stock 2.2 email apk (as described in the blog) and after few minutes my calendar was fully synchronized and I receive emails in push. That's great
I am not sure that would solve your issue but it is worth trying it.
(make sure to delete the HTC exchange account).
Hope this helps.
